TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 FORD TAURUS. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 35 MPH, THE TRANSMISSION BEGAN TO JERK WITH HESITATION AND THE WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED UNTIL THE ENGINE WAS TURNED OFF. IN ADDITION, THE TRANSMISSION WOULD SLIP GEARS UNEXPECTEDLY. THE FAILURE RECURRED WHENEVER THE VEHICLE WAS IN OPERATION. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER FOR DIAGNOSIS WHERE THEY STATED THAT THE TRANSMISSION WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED DUE TO INTERNAL DAMAGE. IN 2009, A REBUILT TRANSMISSION WAS INSTALLED IN THE VEHICLE BY AN AUTHORIZED DEALER. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED FOR THE MOST RECENT FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE PROBLEM. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 23,000 IN 2009. LESS THAN 50,000 IN 2012. UPDATED 1/15/13 *CN THE CONSUMER STATED THE DEALER WAS WILLING TO PAY FOR HALF OF THE TRANSMISSION REPAIRS. THIS INCIDENT FIRST HAPPENED WHILE I WAS PULLING INTO A PARKING SPOT AND SINCE MANY TIMES. THE CAR GETS STUCK IN FULL THROTTLE AND SOMETIMES IMPOSSIBLE TO STOP I HAVE TO THROW INTO NEUTRAL TO KEEP FROM SLAMMING INTO VEHICLES, IT HAS TORN UP MY NEW BRAKE PADS THAT I PUT ON IN THE FALL. IT WILL BE FINE FOR A PERIOD OF TIME THEN ALL OF SUDDEN OUT OF NO WHERE THE CAR WILL GET STUCK IN FULL THROTTLE. I HAVE BEEN TOLD BY A FORD MECHANIC THAT THIS IS A COMMON ISSUE. *KB
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 FORD TAURUS. THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING 40 MPH WHEN THE ACCELERATION PEDAL BECAME STUCK IN OPEN THROTTLE POSITION. THE CONTACT HAD TO ABRUPTLY STOMP ON THE PEDAL IN ORDER FOR IT TO RELEASE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO ADVISED THAT THE THROTTLE OR THE VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL CABLE FAILED AND CAUSED THE FAILURE. THE DEALER ADVISED THAT THE CABLES WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 110,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 126,000. THE CONSUMER STATED SUDDEN ACCELERATION CAUSED THE TRANSMISSION TO FAIL, DUE TO THE STRAIN OF TRYING TO SLOW THE VEHICLE DOWN. UPDATED 08/22/12

I JUST RECENTLY PURCHASED A 2005 FORD TAURUS AND IT WAS RUNNING FINE FOR LIKE 2 DAYS. THEN THE CRUISE STOPPED WORKING A FEW DAYS LATER THE ACCELERATOR BEGAN TO STICK. I WAS GOING ABOUT 30 AND SUDDENLY THE CAR BEGAN TO TAKE OFF ON ITS OWN AND I NEARLY HIT THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME. I HAD TO STEER OFF THE ROAD AND PRESSING THE BRAKES WAS VERY HARD. 2005 FORD TAURUS 3.0, VULCAN OHV FLEX-FUEL ENGINE. 24,000 MILES, DRIVER DOOR WOULD NOT CLOSE ANYMORE. HOOD MISALIGNED ITSELF. INTERIOR PIECES FALLING OFF. WHEN STARTING, STARTER WOULD SPIN FREE OF THE FLYWHEEL AND NOT START. FORD TAURUS TRANSMISSION JUST STOPPED WHEN DRIVING, DEALER SAID $2500 TO FIX, I CHECKED ON LINE AND FOUND NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS OF SAME ISSUE. LUCKILY, WE WERE ABLE TO PULL THE CAR OFF TO THE SHOULDER. THIS AND MANY OTHER ACCOUNTS HAVE LED ME TO BELIEVE THAT FORD HAS INSTALLED FAULTY TRANSMISSIONS IN THIS MODEL LINE. WE WERE STOPPED AT A STOP SIGN AND WHEN WE WENT TO PRESS THE GAS PEDAL TO GO THE RPM'S REVVED FOR A SECOND AND THEN NOTHING. THE CAR WOULD NOT GO LIKE IT WAS IN NEUTRAL. WE TURNED THE CAR OFF THEN TURNED IT ON AGAIN AND STILL NOTHING. THE CAR WOULDN'T GO INTO GEAR. TORQUE CONVERTER ON 2005 FORD TAURUS BLEW UP. I WAS DRIVING DOWN A VERY BUSY ROAD DURING RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC WHEN MY CAR JUST STOPPED. IN ADDITION TO DELAYING TRAFFIC IT WAS A VERY UNSAFE SITUATION FOR MYSELF AND MY CHILDREN WHO WERE IN THE CAR WITH MY. THE MECHANIC WHO FIXED MY CAR SHOWED ME THE TORQUE CONVERTER AND THE METAL HAD TURNED BLUE FROM BEING HEATED TO AN EXTREME HEAT. HE ALSO SAID THAT THE TORQUE CONVERTER BLEW UP SENDING METAL PIECES INTO MY TRANSMISSION. MY 2005 FORD TAURUS SEL WITH 90,XXX MILES ON IT HAD ITS TRANSMISSION FAIL. IT IS STILL IN THE SHOP BEING REPAIRED, BUT AT THIS POINT THE TORQUE CONVERTER AND PUMP NEED TO BE REPLACED. I WAS TOLD BY THE FORD SERVICE MANAGER THAT THIS IS A PROBLEM THAT FORD IS AWARE OF BUT IS NOT DOING NOTHING ABOUT. I WILL BE OUT A MINIMUM OF $1,800 FOR A PROBLEM FORD KNOWS ABOUT, BUT DOES NOTHING TO HELP THEIR CUSTOMERS. ALL OF MY MILES ARE INTERSTATE MILES AND THE CAR HAS BEEN TAKEN CARE OF IN EVERY WAY. I WAS DRIVING DOWN MY SIDE STREET ROAD AND IT WAS LIKE THE CAR WENT INTO NEUTRAL. IT WILL NOT GO INTO ANY GEAR. LUCKILY, I WAS ABLE TO COAST INTO MY DRIVEWAY. THE SERVICE MANAGER SAID HE HAS HAD TO FIX SEVERAL OF THESE AND I TALKED WITH A LOCAL TRANSMISSION...
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 FORD TAURUS. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 35-40 MPH, THE VEHICLE FAILED TO ACCELERATE. THE ISSUE OCCURRED VERY FREQUENTLY. IN ADDITION, THE VEHICLE WOULD STALL AND IDLE, BUT NOT COMPLETELY SHUT OFF. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC AND WAS INFORMED THAT THE TRANSMISSION MOST LIKELY NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE HAS NOT YET BEEN REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER HAS NOT BEEN NOTIFIED. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 142,314 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 100,000.
WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD WITH NO PREVIOUS INDICATIONS OF TROUBLE THE CAR SUDDENLY STARTED TO SLOW DOWN AND THE RPM WENT UP. THE CAR CAME TO A STOP IN THE MIDDLE OF AN INTERSECTION AND WOULD NOT MOVE NO FORWARD OR REVERSE. HAD THE CAR TOWED TO THE FORD DEALERSHIP AND TOLD THEM WHAT HAPPENED AND HE STATED THAT THIS WAS A COMMON FAILURE WITH THIS VEHICLE. THE CALLED LATER THAT DAY AND STATED THAT THE CAR NEEDS A NEW TRANSMISSION THAT IT HAS NO PRESSURE AND THAT THE COULD PUT IN A REMANUFACTURED ONE IN CHEAPER THAN REPAIRING THIS ONE THE TOTAL WILL BE IN HE AREA OF $3,100.00 I HAVE GOOGELED THIS AND HAD OVER 147,000 HITS. SOUND LIKE FORD IS HIDING A MAJOR DEFECT AND PLACING EVERY ONE THAT DRIVE ONE AT A MAJOR RISK. WHAT IF THIS HAD BEEN A RR CROSSING? BY THE WAY...

I STARTED HAVING PROBLEMS WITH THE TRANSMISSION OF MY TAURUS LESS THAN ONE MONTH AFTER HAVING THE VEHICLE INSPECTED AND THE TRANS FLUSHED AT A DEALERSHIP AS PART OF MY LEASE-END PURCHASE OPTION (I LEASED THE CAR FOR 3 YEARS PRIOR TO PURCHASING IT). THE CAR WAS PAST THE WARRANTY AT 64,500 MILES AND I DID NOT PURCHASE AN EXTENDED WARRANTY. I RETURNED TO THE DEALERSHIP TO FIND OUT WHAT WAS WRONG. AFTER RUNNING THEIR DIAGNOSTIC TEST, I WAS TOLD THAT SOMETHING HAD FAILED IN THE TRANSMISSION BUT THEY WERE NOT SURE WHAT FAILED. THEY OFFERED TO DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM BY BREAKING DOWN THE TRANS AT A MINIMUM OF 10 HOURS LABOR AT $88.00 AN HOUR. I CONTACTED FORD CUSTOMER SERVICE FOR SOME ASSISTANCE AND WAS DENIED BECAUSE THEY HAD NO RECORD OF MY CAR EVER BEING REPAIRED AT ANY DEALERSHIP DURING THE LIFE OF MY LEASE. I HAD NO...
I HAVE ISSUES WITH THIS CAR WHEN THE TEMPERATURE FALLS BETWEEN 20 AND 35 DEGREES WITH A COATING OF SLUSH OR SNOW FROM 1/4 OF AN INCH UP TO 5 INCHES. THE VEHICLE NEEDS TO BE TRAVELING AT 40 TO 65 MPH AND USUALLY ON A STRAIGHT AWAY SUCH AS THE THRUWAY. SOMETIMES WHEN THIS CAR HAS ISSUES I GET A THUMP FROM THE REAR AXLE AND THE VEHICLE SHIFTS VERY HARD BETWEEN 3RD AND 4TH GEAR. IT'S AN AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION.. ON THE 1ST START OF THE DAY (EVERY DAY), FOR ONE-TWO MINUTES, WHEN I PUSH DOWN ON THE BRAKE, THE CAR WILL MOVE SLIGHTLY FORWARD. THERE IS A CLUNKING NOISE FROM THE ENGINE AREA, AND THE RPMS DECREASE WHEN THE BRAKE PEDAL IS PRESSED. THIS OCCURS IN PARK OR NEUTRAL.
