On December 10, 2020 I acquired tis particular automobile. In the calendar year following, I have been advised of and experience "sudden acceleration" and other anomalies . I have found further oil pan plug bolt, and today 02/10/2022 the Complaint of other owners. Particularly airbag sudden inflation and brake shift Interlock and no airbag operation. This is presumed to be a collision sensor relationship. I am in the process of restoration and replacement of the affected components. I have difficulty in data and trouble shoot information on the website and brand dealership. (Napa, Adv.auto parts, auto zone, orielly, salvage yards. I have spent $163.50 at Ford dealer charged me. I spent $269.70 at the American automobile association. DESIGN FLAW - STATION WAGON REAR TAILGATE OPENING LEVER AND ROD TO LOCK IS INOPERATIVE.
STARTED RECENTLY, WHEN I START THE CAR THE RPMS REV WAY UP. PAST 3000. WHILE DRIVING I CONSTANTLY HAVE TO RIDE THE BREAK OR PUT IT IN NEUTRAL. I LITERALLY CAN DRIVE MILES AT 45 MPH AND NEVER TOUCH THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL. IT WOULD SHOOT UP PAST 3000 RPMS . THIS CAR'S GOING TO KILL SOMEONE. *TR

FIRST TIME (OCT 2018): WHILE DRIVING ON FREEWAY CAR KEPT ACCELERATING WITHOUT MY FOOT ON ACCELERATOR. I HAD TO BRAKE TO SLOW WITHIN ACCEPTABLE SPEED. WITHIN 10 MINUTES THE PROBLEM STOPPED OCCURRING. I TOOK IT TO MECHANIC & HE COULD NOT FIND ANY PROBLEM OR REPLICAT THE PROBLEM. 2ND TIME (OCT 12, 2018, 4 DAYS AFTER BEING ST MECHANIC) & 400 MILES AWAY FROM HOME-- I WAS DRIVING ON SURFACE STREET IN THE CITY, ACCELERATION HAPPENED AGAIN WITHOUT ANY USE OF ACCELERATOR. I HAD TO BRAKE & GET TO SIDE OF STREET, PUT IN PARK & TURN OFF ENGINE. WAITED 10 MINUTES & TRIED AGAIN. PROBLEM REMEDIED. THE CAR SUDDENLY LOST ALL FORWARD MOTION WHILE IN HIGHWAY TRAFFIC AT ABOUT 70 MPH, ENGINE RUNNING AND TRANSMISSION IN DRIVE. THE CAUSE IS A STRIPPED OUT TORQUE CONVERTER INPUT SPLINE. THE TRANSMISSION PUMP DRIVE ROD IS TOO WEAK AND THE GEAR TEETH TOO FINE THAT THE TEETH ON IT GET STRIPPED INSIDE THE CONVERTER QUITE EASILY AND WITHOUT WARNING. THIS CAUSES LOSS OF TRANSMISSION PUMP PRESSURE AND RESULTANT LOSS OF FORWARD PROPULSION. IN HIGHWAY TRAFFIC, THIS COULD RESULT IN A FATAL ACCIDENT, PARTICULARLY FROM THE REAR AND IF AT HIGHWAY SPEED. THIS IS A DESIGN FLAW BECAUSE THE TEETH ON THE TORQUE CONVERTER INPUT SHAFT (WHICH POWERS THE TRANSMISSION PUMP), ARE PRONE TO STRIP. IF THE TRANSMISSION PUMP IS NOT BEING DRIVEN (WHICH WILL HAPPEN IF THE INPUT SHAFT STRIPS INSIDE THE TORQUE CONVERTER WHILE BEING DRIVEN), THE TRANSMISSION WILL LOSE ALL ABILITY TO PROPEL THE VEHICLE. THERE ARE...
DOOR WILL NOT LATCH CLOSED. DOOR REMAINS OPEN. DOOR LATCH SPRING MAY BE FROZEN. I OPENED THE DOOR AND STARTED THE MOTOR BUT COULD NOT DRIVE CAR BECAUSE DRIVER DOOR WOULD NOT LATCH CLOSED. THERE ARE SEVERAL SIMILAR COMPLAINTS ONLINE REGARDING THE SAME TYPE OF VEHICLE. THIS PROBLEM CAUSES SIGNIFICANT RISK OF INJURY AND DEATH AND SHOULD BE ADDRESSED BY THE MANUFACTURER IMMEDIATELY.
I WAS DRIVING MY 2005 FORD TAURUS HOME WHEN THE CAR BEGAN TO ACCELERATE ON ITS OWN. THE GAS PEDAL WAS STUCK. NUMEROUS TIMES, WHEN THE FOOT WAS REMOVED THE ACCELERATOR, THE ENGINE DID NOT RETURN TO IDLE BUT CONTINUED AS IF YOUR FOOT WAS STILL ON THE ACCELERATOR. WOULD HAVE TO APPLY BRAKES AND GET OFF THE ROAD. EXTREMELY HARD TO STOP IF GOING VERY FAST. KILL THE ENGINE, RAISE THE HOOD AND BARELY TOUCH THROTTLE CONTROL WHERE THE ACCELERATOR CABLE IS ATTACHED AND IT WOULD SNAP BACK TO THE IDLE POSITION. THIS HAS HAPPENED AT LEAST 7 OR 8 TIMES. I NOTICED A MUSTY SMELL FIRST. AFTER A HEAVY RAIN I NOTICED THAT MY PASSENGER FOOT WELL WAS SOAKING WET UNDER THE FLOOR MAT. I DRIED IT UP. WHILE IN PARKING LOT, CAR SUDDENLY ACCELERATED WITHOUT TOUCHING THE GAS PEDAL. HELD THE BRAKES TO KEEP CAR FROM MOVING AND PUT THE CAR IN NEUTRAL. WHILE SITTING AT A STOP LIGHT I FELT THE CAR TRYING TO LUNGE FORWARD. WHEN THE LIGHT TURNED GREEN AND I SLOWLY RELEASED MY FOOT FROM THE BREAK THE CAR BEGAN TO ACCELERATE AND MOVE ON ITS OWN WITHOUT ME STEPPING ON THE GAS PEDAL. WHAT'S EVEN WORSE IS NOW MY CAR...
DRIVE AT ABOUT 20MPH. TRY TO HIT THE BRAKE TO STOP. CAR MAKE VERY LOUD NOISE. FOUND GAS PEDAL NOT COME BACK. TAKE TO DEALER, DEALER TOLD ME GAS PEDAL STICK DUE TO SOME SPOT ON THROTTLE BODY. SO HAVE TO CHANGE THE THROTTLE BODY.
THE BEST WAY TO DESCRIBE WHAT HAPPENED IS THAT IT SEEMED TO BE DOING EXACTLY WHAT THE TOYOTAS WERE DOING, ACCELERATING ON IT'S OWN. WHEN I WOULD GET TO APPROX. 50-55MPH, I COULD FEEL THE GAS PEDAL "STICK." THE CAR WOULD THEN ACCELERATE ON IT'S OWN WITHOUT MY FOOT ON THE GAS, UP HILLS, ON FLAT ROADS, ETC. THE BRAKES WOULD STOP THE CAR, BUT YOU COULD HEAR THE ENGINE IDLING IN A HIGHER GEAR, AND WHEN THE BRAKE WAS RELEASED, THE CAR WOULD TAKE OFF WITHOUT GAS BEING APPLIED. ONCE, WHEN I WAS PARKING, THE CAR WAS DOING THIS AND WHEN I PLACED THE GEAR IN "P" THE RPM'S WHEN PAST 3 BEFORE I SHUT THE CAR OFF. WHEN I CALLED THE FORD COMPANY TO INQUIRE ABOUT THIS, THEY INSTANTLY KNEW WHAT THE PROBLEM WAS AND SAID THEY HAD SEEN 3 COME IN WITH THE SAME PROBLEM ALREADY. THE...
IT SEEMS LIKE AFTER HEAVY RAIN WATER COLLECTS SOMEWHERE WITHIN THE DASH AND RUNS DOWN INTO THE FRONT PASSENGER FLOORBOARD OF THE CAR. IT COLLECTS SEVERAL INCHES OF WATER THAT SITS IN THE FLOORBOARD AND I HAVE TO SOAK IT UP WITH A LOT OF TOWELS.
