HEAVY RAIN ALL DAY AND THE WATER WAS LEAKING ON THE MAIN COMPUTER BOARD. CAUSING THE VAN TO STALL OUT AND RESULTING IN A 100.00 TOW BILL. THE SHOP TOLD ME IT IS LEAKING AND NEEDS TO BE REPLACED AND SEALED. *TR
DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 35MPH THE VEHICLE STARTED STALLING OUT AND WOULD NOT SHIFT PROPERLY. FORTUNATELY WAS ABLE TO SAFELY COAST TO SIDE OF ROAD. HAD VEHICLE TOWED TO CONWAY FORD IN CONWAY, SC. NEEDED NEW POWER CONTROL MODULAR (PCM) DUE TO WATER LEAKING THROUGH WINDSHIELD COWLING AND SHORTING OUT CONNECTIONS TO PCM. CREATED A POTENTIALLY DANGEROUS SITUATION WITH VEHICLE STALLING OUT WHILE IN MOTION. RESEARCH HAS REVEALED THIS TO BE A VERY COMMON PROBLEM WITH THIS VEHICLE THAT IS A SAFETY HAZARD THAT NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED BY FORD MOTOR COMPANY WITH A RECALL. *TR
WHILE MERGING ONTO ROUTE 50 OFF 628 THE CAR DIED. I DRIFTED ONTO SIDE OF ROAD, BUT IN PARK AND RESTARTED IT. TOOK EXIT OFF 50 AT 450 AND CAR STOPPED AGAIN. PUT IN PARK AT RED LIGHT, STARTED UP AGAIN AND DROVE DOWN RIVA ROAD. CAR STOPPED 4 MORE TIMES BEFORE GETTING TO MY RESIDENCE, EACH TIME ENGINE STOPPING, NO POWER STEERING AND NO BRAKES. CALLED KOONS FORD ANNAPOLIS AND HAD THE CAR TOWED THERE THE NEXT DAY (SINCE THE INCIDENT OCCURRED ON A SUNDAY). THEY KEPT THE CAR FOR 1 WEEK AND COULD NOT CONFIRM OR DUPLICATE ANY OF THE CONDITIONS. POSSIBLY PCM BUT NOT SURE.THEY FOUND ONE ERROR WHILE DRIVING IT , BUT THE COMPUTER COULD NOT FIND IT. PAID FOR DIAGNOSTIC TEST. CAR HAS BEEN RUNNING FINE UNTIL 7/6/13 WHEN EXACTLY THE SAME THING HAPPENED. TOOK BACK TO FORD AND 2 DAYS LATER WAS TOLD IT...
THIS INFORMATION IS A COLLECTION OF INCIDENTS THAT ULTIMATELY FIT TOGETHER. I HAVE NOTICE THAT THE FLOOR BOARD OF MY VAN WAS WET. SINCE I HAVE 3 KIDS I JUST SHRUGGED IT OFF. THIS PAST WEEK I NOTICE THE FLOOR MATS WEREN'T WET ONLY THE CARPET BENEATH IT WAS SOAKED. MY KIDS DON'T SPILL JUST UNDER THE MATS. THE WATER MUST BE ENTERING FROM THE OUTSIDE IN. THE VAN WAS ACTING WEIRD ON AND OFF -NO CHECK ENGINE LIGHT UNTIL IT STARTED HAPPEN MORE FREQUENTLY. JUNE 2012, I GOT THE P1340 CODE THAT THE CAMSHAFT POSITION SENSOR HAD GONE BAD, I REPLACED IT, WENT OUT AGAIN, I WAS TOLD IT COULD HAVE BEEN A FAULTY PART, CHANGED IT AGAIN, WENT OUT AGAIN, DECIDED THIS IS BEYOND ME. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY "FIXED" THE CAMSHAFT POSITION SENSOR AND ANOTHER PART THAT WAS CAUSING THE CAMSHAFT POSITION SENSOR...
HAVING A SIMILAR PROBLEM TO OTHERS WITH MY 2005 FORD FREESTAR. WATER GETTING INTO PCM AND CAUSING PROBLEMS. TOOK VEHICLE TO DEALERSHIP FOR TORQUE CONVERTER RECALL AND THEY NOTICED WATER IN THE PCM. THEY DRIED IT OUT AND VEHICLE RAN FINE FOR TWO WEEKS. HAD SIGNIFICANT RAIN LAST NIGHT AND PROBLEM HAPPENED AGAIN. THIS IS AN OBVIOUS FLAW IN THIS VEHICLE AND NEEDS TO BE FIXED. *TR
WATER LEAKING IN FROM THE WINDSHIELD MESSING UP THE PCM. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 FORD FREESTAR. THE CONTACT RELEASED THE HATCHBACK MECHANISM WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY. THE HATCHBACK IMMEDIATELY SLAMMED DOWN ON THE CONTACT AND INJURED HIS SHOULDER. THERE WAS NO PRIOR WARNING TO THE HATCHBACK SUPPORT DEVICE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER AND THEY STATED THAT THE FAILURE WAS RELATED TO DEFECTIVE SHOCKS IN THE HATCHBACK. AS OF AUGUST 5, 2008, THE VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE CONTACT WAS CONCERNED OF THE SAFETY RISK INVOLVED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 61,063.
I HAVE HAD PROBLEMS WITH MY FORD FREE STAR 2005 VAN IT HAS 50,600 MILES ON IT. IT ALL STARTED WHEN THE SPEEDOMETER AND ODOMETER STOPPED WORKING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. THEN A FEW SECONDS LATTER THE VAN JUST DIED WHILE DRIVING WITH MY TWO YEAR OLD TWINS IN THE CAR. I WAS ABLE TO START IT UP AGAIN AND IT STARTED TO SPUTTER AND STALL AGAIN. I AM A MECHANIC AND I WAS GOING TO ATTEMPT TO REPAIR THE VEHICLE MYSELF UNTIL I WENT ON LINE AND FOUND OUT THAT OTHER PEOPLE HAVE BEEN COMPLAINING ABOUT THE PCM GETTING WET AND I FOUND OUT MINE WAS WET AND CORRODED. THE PCM WAS GETTING WET BY WATER GETTING THROUGH THE CROWL GASKET. I ALSO FOUND OUT THAT THERE WAS A TSB OUT ON THIS DIRECTING DEALERS HOW TO REPAIR THIS PROBLEM AT COST TO THE CUSTOMER. THE PCM WAS REPLACED NOW...
