TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2001 FORD F-250 SD. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 60 MPH, HE ATTEMPTED TO ACTIVATE THE CRUISE CONTROL BUT IT WOULD NOT ENGAGE. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION WHERE THEY ADVISED THE CONTACT THAT BRAKE FLUID WAS LEAKING FROM THE CRUISE CONTROL SWITCH AND THE SWITCH WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED. THE DEALER ALSO STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER: 09V399000 (VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL). THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 70,000. THE FIRE STARTED ON THE BRAKE PRESSURE SWITCH (WHICH IS THE CUT OFF SWITCH FOR THE CRUISE CONTROL, IT BURNED THE WIRING HARNESS IT BURNED ALL THE WAY UNTIL IT GOT INTO THE HARNESS, AND CAUGHT THE RUBBER BOOT ON FIRE WHICH COVERS THE STEERING CONTROL. FLAMES WERE COMING FROM ENGINE COMPARTMENT ON DRIVER'S SIDE NEAR THE FRONT OF THE VEHICLE. HAD USED THE CRUISE CONTROL THE DAY BEFORE THE FIRE, AND IT HAD WORKED FINE.
