TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2001 FORD F-250 SD. THE CONTACT STATED THAT AS HE STARTED THE ENGINE, EVERY LIGHT REMAINED ILLUMINATED OF THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. IN ADDITION, THE CONTACT STATED THAT THERE WAS A BROKEN SEAM IN THE WINDSHIELD THAT WOULD CAUSE WATER TO LEAK INTO THE VEHICLE AND ONTO THE ELECTRONIC CONTROL MODULE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 200,007.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS 2001 FORD F-250. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED IT CAUGHT FIRE AND THE FLAMES WERE COMING FROM UNDER THE HOOD. THE POLICE AND THE FIRE DEPARTMENT WERE NOTIFIED AND A REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 59,075.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2001 FORD F-250 SD DIESEL. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED AND IDLE WHEN IT ATTEMPTED TO START INDEPENDENTLY. THE KEYS WERE NOT IN THE IGNITION AT THE TIME OF FAILURE. THE CONTACT DISCONNECTED AND RECHARGED THE BATTERY. ONCE THE BATTERY WAS REINSTALLED IN THE VEHICLE, THE VEHICLE FAILED TO START. HE THEN CONTACTED SEVERAL LOCAL MECHANICS ABOUT THE FAILURE BUT NO ONE COULD PROVIDE AN EXPLANATION OF THE FAILURE. SEVERAL AUTHORIZED DEALERS WERE ALSO CONTACTED BUT AGAIN THEY TOO, COULD NOT PROVIDE AN EXPLANATION FOR THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE DID NOT RECUR AND THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED TO REPORT THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 113,000.

BRAKE PRESSURE SWITCH.. HARNESS WAS REPLACED IN 2008 BUT THE SWITCH WAS NOT LEAKING AT THAT TIME. CRUISE CONTROL STOP WORKING IN 2009. FOUND SWITCH WAS LEAKING. WAS TOLD NO LONGER UNDER WARRANTY. TW*
I HAVE A 2001 FORD F250, THE WINDSHIELD LEAKED CAUSING THE GEM MODULE TO MAL-FUNCTION. THIS IS A PROBLEM IN ALOT OF FORD VEHICLES,NOT JUST MINE. THE SHORT CAUSES THE TRUCK TO MISS, STALL, A LOT OF ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS RESULT. *TR
TRUCK HAD BEEN PARKED IN MY DRIVEWAY APPROXIMATELY 30 MINUTES WHEN I HEARD A NOISE LOOKED OUT AND FRONT OF TRUCK WAS ENGULFED IN FLAMES. NO PRIOR WARNING WAS GIVEN OR NOTICED. CALLED 911, FIRE DEPARTMENT ARRIVED AND EXTINGUISH THE FLAMES. TRUCK WAS TOTALED. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2001 FORD F-250 SD. WHEN THE GEAR SHIFTER IS USED, IT CAUSES THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL FUSE TO BLOW. SMOKE APPEARED OUT OF THE STEERING COLUMN. THE CONTACT BELIEVES THAT THE FAILURE WAS DUE TO BURNED WIRES AND ALL OF THE ISSUES WERE CONNECTED TO THE STEERING COLUMN ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. HE BELIEVES THAT THE WIRES WERE BURNED IN THE STEERING COLUMN. THE TOW PACKAGE BURNED AND THE RIGHT TURN SIGNAL AND BRAKE LIGHTS NO LONGER WORK. ALL OF THE DOORS APPEARED TO BE SHORT AND DO NOT CLOSE OR OPEN PROPERLY. IN ADDITION, THE OVERDRIVE FAILED ON THE STEERING COLUMN. WHEN THE CONTACT PRESSES THE BUTTON, NOTHING HAPPENS. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT UNDER WARRANTY AND DOES NOT HAVE ANY SAFETY RECALLS THAT APPLY TO THE VIN. THE CONTACT WOULD BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE REPAIR COSTS. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 142,000.
I RECENTLY BOUGHT A USED 2001 FORD F-250 WITH THE 7.3 DIESEL FROM THE LOCAL FORD DEALER. IT HAD A RECENT COMPUTER REFLASH, SHOULD HAVE TOLD ME SOMETHING. ANYWAY THE CPS WAS BAD IN IT. IT WOULD SHUT DOWN, SOMETIMES STARTING RIGHT BACK, SOMETIMES AFTER A FEW MINUTES. I GOT TIRED OF THE RUN AROUND SO I PUT A NEW CPS IN IT MYSELF. I HAVE HAD NO MORE PROBLEMS, NO THANKS TO FORD. *JB
CAM SHAFT POSITION SENSOR HAS FAILED 2 DIFFERENT TIMES ON A 2001 POWERSTROKE FORD F250. FIRST TIME WHILE DRIVING THROUGH A PARKING LOT. SECOND TIME ON THE ROAD AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. VEHICLE WAS DIFFICULT TO STOP AND STEER DUE TO LOSS OF POWER STEERING AND POWER BRAKES. *TR
I HAVE HAD MULTIPLE CPS FAILURES AND EACH TIME THE TRUCK DIED WHILE I WAS DRIVING LOSING POWER STEERING BRAKES ETC. IT IS VERY DANGEROUS AND A NEW PART SHOULD BE DEISGNED. THE PART NUMBER IS F7TZ-12K073-A. I HAVE REPLACED THIS SENSOR MUTLIPLE TIMES AND EVERY TIME IT IS REPLACED THE ENGINE STARTS RIGHT BACK UP.*AK
WHILE DRIVING WITH MY 17 MONTH OLD SON, MY TRUCK JUST QUIT WHILE ON THE HIGHWAY. NO WARNING, NO STEERING, NO BRAKES, ETC. WOULD NOT CRANK IMMEDIATELY, TOOK ABOUT 5-10 MINUTES BEFORE IT STARTED AGAIN, MEANWHILE I WAS BLOCKING TRAFFIC AND CREATING A LIFE HAZARD TO MY FAMILY AND OTHER MOTORISTS. THE TRUCK WOULD RUN FOR ABOUT 1 MILE AND DIE AGAIN, WITH NO WARNING AND IN TRAFFIC. THE PROBLEM WAS A CAM SENSOR PART CSS1603. THIS FAILURE COULD EASILY CAUSE AN ACCIDENT AND NEEDS TO BE RECALLED IMMEDIATELY!
I HAVE A 2001 F250 7.3 DIESEL THAT HAS STALLED OR DIED USUALLY AT LOW SPEEDS WHILE TRYING TO STOP OR TURN A CORNER. RESULTING IN A LOSS OF POWER STEERING AND POWER BRAKES. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT HAS NEVER COME ON. I HAVE TAKEN IT TO A MECHANIC AND WAS TOLD IF THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WAS NOT ON HE COULD NOT CHECK FOR A TROUBLE CODE. HE ALSO SAID IT MOST LIKELY IS A CAMSHAFT POSITION SENSOR. I CHECKED WITH FORD,THEY WANT OVER $500.00 TO REPLACE IT. THE TRUCK IS NOW OUT OF WARRANTY AND I DON'T WANT TO SPEND $500.00 AND THAT NOT FIX THE PROBLEM. *NM
I SHUT OFF MY TRUCK AND SEVERAL COMPONENTS STAY ON, THEN I TURNED THE KEY ON AND OFF AGAIN AND THEY WENT OFF A FEW DAYS LATER THE SAME THING BUT THE WIPERS DID NOT WORK SINCE I AM AN AUTO TECHNICIAN I LOOKED INTO IT AT A FORD DEALER AND FOUND THAT FORD HAS HAD THIS MANY TIMES AND IT HAS BEEN INVESTIGATED BY THE SAFETY BOARD AND I AM NOT SURE WHERE IT WENT FROM THERE ALL I KNOW IS THAT IF I LOSS MY WIPERS ON THE HIGHWAY IN RAIN IT WOULD NOT BE SAFE. I KNOW IN CANADA THEY MADE THEM CALL THEM BACK AND FIX THE LEAKS THAT CAUSED THE WIPER FAILURE/GEM MODULE FAILURE TO FIX IT AT FORD WOULD BE 600.00 DOLLARS WHICH REQUIRES REPLACING THE GEM MODULE AND IT IS RECOMMENDED TO CHANGE THE FUSE PANEL ALSO AND TO FIX THE LEAK THERE...
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING 25 MPH, THERE WAS A SLIGHT SNAPPING NOISE, AND ALL THE GAUGES ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL FELL TO THE LOWEST READING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A SERVICE DEALER, WHERE THE DEALER WAS NOT ABLE TO DETERMINE THE PROBLEM. UPDATED 9/20/2006 - *NM
MY 2001 FORD F-250 WAS DESTROYED ON 8/11/06 AND APPROXIMATELY 75 ACRES OF RANGE LAND WAS BURNED WHEN THE TRUCK CAUGHT ON FIRE. CONTENTS VALUED AT $1800 WERE ALSO DESTROYED. NO ONE WAS INJURED. THE FIRE STARTED IN THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT WHEN THE ENGINE WAS OFF AND THE KEY WAS NOT IN THE IGNITION. *JB
TRAVELING AT NORMAL SPEED. THE ENGINE WOULD SHUT OFF, AS IF IT HAD RUN OUT OF FUEL.. AFTER DOING THIS THREE TIMES, I REPLACED THE CAM SHAFT SENSOR. I HAVE HAD NO PROBLEM SINCE. *JB

DRIVING ALONG BUSY ROAD WAY RUNNING FINE, THEN THE MOTOR JUST SHUT DOWN. LEFT STRANDED RIGHT IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD. COULD NOT BE RESTARTED, TRUCK WAS TOWED TO GARAGE. CAM SHAFT SENOR REPLACED. *JB
OVERHEAD CONSOLE ON 2001 F250 CREW CAB DIESEL WENT BAD. SINCE THE VERY START THEY HAVE HAD TROUBLE. I HAVE BEEN ON THE NET TO AT LEAST FIVE THOUSAND PEOPLE AND ALL OF THEM HAVE THE MESSAGE CENTER FAILURE. THEY ARE MAKING A KILLING BECAUSE BEFORE YOU COULD BUY THE COMPUTER.THEY HAVE MADE IT NOW WHERE YOU HAVE TO BUY THE WHOLE CONSOLE. $ 300.00 IS THE CHEAPEST YOU WILL FIND. I HAVE MULTIPLE SCLEROSIS AND I NEED A COMPASS TO GET AROUND MY DIRECTION IS OFF. I WOULD CONSIDER THIS NEGLIGENCE BECAUSE THEY WILLINGLY AND KNOWINGLY HAVE KNOWN OF THIS PROBLEM AND HAVE NOT FIXED IT. *NM

ENGINE MIS-FIRES AND LOSES POWER WHEN ACCELERATING FROM STOP/ GOING UP HILLS, ETC. THIS PROBLEM STARTED, ON AN INTERMITTENT BASIS, AT AN ODOMETER READING OF ONLY 9,000 MILES. VEHICLE WAS BROUGHT TO THE DEALER FOUR TIMES OVER 2 YEARS TO REMEDY - - COULD NOT DIAGNOSE OR REPAIR. SUDDENLY BECAME MUCH WORSE AT 48,000 MILES. TWO IGNITION COILS FOUND FAULTY AND REPLACED. NOW SEEING THE SAME PROBLEM AT 51,000 MILES. POTENTIAL SAFETY CONCERN, DUE TO HESITATION/ LACK OF POWER WHEN TURNING LEFT ACROSS TRAFFIC OR CROSSING TRAFFIC LANES. DEALER AND REGIONAL FORD REP. REFUSE TO COVER REPAIRS, EVEN THOUGH THE PROBLEM WAS IDENTIFIED UNDER WARRANTY, BUT NOT FOUND AND FIXED UNTIL OUT OF WARRANTY.*AK
