On 3 separate occasions, while traveling at highway speeds on the NJ Garden State Parkway in the left lane, my truck’s service engine light soon wrench would come on out of nowhere, the throttle would cut out, and the gas pedal would go limp and unresponsive. The only way to get it operational again was to turn the truck off, let it sit for 10-15 min to drain the computers, and restart. Imagine doing 70-75 mph in the left most lane and you lose all throttle and have to get your vehicle all the way to the right shoulder without the ability to speed up to avoid being hit in the process. Now imagine that same thing happening 3 times within a month. The dealership found failed factory power train wiring and a failed gateway module. This truck’s a 2023 with 50k highway miles. Shouldn’t be failing like this. Now...
Cabin coolant heater failed. Windshield would not properly defrost. This was recalled in our same model year with production dates through August 31 and our truck was produced on October 2.
Instrument cluster panel was rainbow now is all black unable to see how much gas in in truck tire pressure or all other important gauges.
"When driving on Interstate 15 in Draper/Bluffdale, external electronic interference forcefully disconnects the vehicle's infotainment and safety displays. This causes the main screen to go black, reboot, or freeze while moving at highway speeds (70+ MPH). This creates an immediate distraction hazard and disables navigation instructions during high-speed traffic flow. The vehicle's shielding is insufficient to protect the driver from this predictable external interference, leading to a recurring safety hazard in a known dead zone."
Regarding EV Battery Failure – 2023 Ford F-150 Lightning”} To Whom It May Concern, NHTSA I am writing to formally file a complaint against Ford Motor Company regarding a serious and ongoing battery issue with my electric vehicle, which remains unresolved despite multiple attempts to obtain warranty service. Vehicle Information: Vehicle: 2023 Ford F-150 Lightning VIN: [XXX] Mileage: Approximately 38000miles Warranty Status: Vehicle is still fully covered under the manufacturer’s warranty Description of the Problem: The vehicle’s battery is not functioning properly. After a full charge, the vehicle only drives approximately 50 miles, after which the battery becomes completely dead. Ford advertises a range of approximately 230 miles per full charge, which my vehicle has never achieved. The battery warning and error messages appear repeatedly on the dashboard, clearly indicating a battery-related issue. Despite this, no effective repair has been performed. Issues with Ford and Authorized Dealers: Ford Motor Company...
I was driving and all of the dash lights came on simultaneously and I lost power braking ability while on the interstate. I was able to pull over and the truck shut off. I had to call a tow truck because it would not start back up. The AAA servicer reprogrammed the battery which turned all of the warning lights off except for the "push brake to start" warning and the truck will still not start because of this. The tech with AAA advised there is a recall related to this issue but my VIN search returns no results.
The instrument cluster on my vehicle has failed intermittently and/or completely, resulting in loss of speedometer visibility and loss of critical warning indicator information. This includes safety-related alerts necessary for driver awareness, such as warning lights and vehicle status indicators. Due to this failure, the vehicle is unsafe to operate because the driver cannot reliably monitor speed or receive safety warnings required for safe driving. A repair order was opened at a Ford dealership to address this issue. The vehicle is covered by an extended warranty provider, which approved a repair request related to the instrument cluster failure on December 16, 2024. The warranty provider further confirmed approval for instrument cluster replacement on December 22, 2024. These approvals confirm the defect was acknowledged and authorized for repair. Despite the safety defect remaining unresolved, the dealership closed the repair order. Ford corporate customer service has confirmed that the repair order shows...
front camera fault, service required, pre-collision avoidance not available. Lane departure warning fault, service required. This is an ongoing problem since date of purchase, 9/23/2025
While driving down the road, the driver gauge display screen completely goes dark. All information displayed normally on the screen, such as speed, mileage, and vital information about the vehicle stops, displaying entirely. This has happened multiple times. Usually the next day, the issue is solved. Then, several months later, the issue reappears. Whenever the vehicle is taken for repair, the dealer simply cannot replicate the issue. This is a known issue that has been reported online by many people.
Service vehicle Soon light came on and the problem was that the gear shifter folding mechanism broke. Ford has repaired it at no cost.
One morning, my 2023 Ford F150 Lightning was completely inoperable. I had it towed to a dealer. From my understanding, it is a wire that runs from the front of the truck to the rear of the truck, and is in the channel about the drive train malfunctioned which seems very strange to me. Got a bunch of codes off the computer. Found some kind of module showing 0-2 volts and when wiggled, it went to zero and stayed. Circuuits CBB95 PINS 11 and 12 and ABB05 PIN 33 at C407 all had zero volts. He consulted Ford's self help and found a Ford contact who'd fixed similar issue. After researching, all was connected back up, he back probed the circuits, and finally found SBB05 grey/red Pin 5 had no current. Ford advised overlaying wire from 3471C to C407 over rear drive unit and secure to harness with zip ties....
A/C airflow decreases out of the air vents although you can hear the motor blower running at high speed in the dashboard. The cabin temperature begins to increase and if humid the windows will begin to fog up the windshield, side windows and rear window impairing visibility which could lead to an accident if you do not pull over and remove the fog from the windshield/ windows. The dealership has inspected the vehicle, but they are never able to reproduce this issue while the vehicle is in their possession so they do nothing and simply turn away from the concern which many other Ford F-150 owners have expressed to their local ford dealerships and undoubtedly FORD motor company is aware of this issue, but are turning the blind eye as if it doesn’t exist. There are no warning lamps, messages or other symptoms prior to the issue occurring. I’m the...
Driving down the road, a "service needed" code will pop up on the dash. It will then go away. However, in the next few minutes a "Shift Service Fault" will pop up on the screen. I then get a notification on my Ford app that says I have a Powertrain Fault.
Transmission harsh shifting, jerking, sudden loss of power, and unexpected downshifts. Goes into power saving mode every time I shut vehicle off. Remote start never available.
The contact owns a 2023 Ford F-150. The contact stated that when the vehicle was started, the check engine and other unknown warning lights illuminated. Additionally, the contact stated that while driving the vehicle, the vehicle was driving rough. The vehicle was towed to a dealer where to was diagnosed and determined that rodents had eaten through the wires, and all the wiring harnessed in the engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 7,400.

Within weeks of purchasing this vehicle new from Groove Ford on Arapahoe, the dashboard would go completely black and the seat belt restraint warning, collision warning, and safety warning sensors would go off. This vehicle has been into the dealership 7 times within the past year for over 30 days and still no resolution.
The contact owns a 2023 Ford F-150. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the contact noticed that the front headlights had become inoperable. The contact stated that the radio flickered on and off, and the power windows would not function properly. The vehicle was taken to several dealers; however, the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The dealer was unable to duplicate the failure. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure, and a case was opened. The contact was referred to the NHTSA Hotline for further assistance. The failure mileage was not available.
Available for inspection. The "brain" of the truck is in the stereo system. the time on the call varies, but, the call will drop the Bluetooth or wired connection with the truck, the radio will reset, and go to a broadcast radio station, from which it will stay for about 5-30 seconds while resetting, and then the call will recommence on the in-house system again. Neither party knows until I start hollering that the call has been dropped. I have checked with Apple, and there are no issues with it, and all updates have been completed. During the call with the tech people at Ford, the tech said it is a known problem. The truck has been in the shop on several occasions at Ford Villages and in Ocala, Florida, starting in February 2025. On 3/14/25, eight modules had to be updated & I was assured that it would fix the...
This vehicle started having issues. The truck would shut off going down the highway at 60-65 mph. The radio would blink on and off. The truck would shut down and not turn back on for multiple hours. Dealer couldn't replicate the problem. Our son utilized the truck to go and pick up LP gas for us from his shop. On the way back to our home, he stopped at a stop sign and suddenly noticed smoke coming from the dash. He attempted to put out the fire which was then raging under the dashboard and hood. He got the fire out, fire department arrived, truck ignited again. The fire department put out the truck. Son was burned trying to not have the truck explode with gas tanks in the back.
The contact owns a 2023 Ford F-150. The contact stated that the vehicle was missing the "Heated Steering Wheel Performance Upgrade". The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired by an independent mechanic or the dealer. The bill of sale stated that the semi-conductor chip was not installed due to a chip shortage. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The contact stated that the failure was related to Customer Satisfaction Program: 22G06; however, the VIN was included. The failure mileage was approximately 26,000.
Emergency brakes automatically deployed. Vehicle not letting me retrieve key from ignition. Vehicle does not indicate it is in park.
The contact owns a 2023 Ford F-150. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle stalled with the check engine warning light illuminated. The vehicle was able to be restarted. The vehicle was taken to the dealer to be diagnosed, and it was determined that the wiring harness had failed due to rodents chewing on the wires. The contact was informed that the wiring harness needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure, and a case was opened. The failure mileage was approximately 8,000.
The contact owns a 2023 Ford F-150. The contact stated that due to the Battery Management System (BMS), the vehicle failed to properly charge due to the short distances driven. Due to the cold climate and low usage, the vehicle entered Deep Sleep Mode, leading to the vehicle failing to start. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where a battery test was performed, and it was determined that the battery was in good condition. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, and the contact was referred to the dealer. The manufacturer referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline to file a complaint. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was unknown.
While not a safety issue, i would like to lodge a complaint against Ford for not including my vehicle's VIN on a NHTSA published recall that it should be eligible for. For 22G06, my 2023 Ford F-150 had the heated steering wheel removed due to the chip shortages. Ford is refusing to either fix or explain why my vehicle is not eligible, even though it meets the "Affected Vehicles" requirements on the document at the below link. I continually get remote features disabled to preserve battery. Have taken it in to dealer, they can't find anything. I am told to drive truck for forty minutes or so. This doesn't help because in a couple of days it goes back to the warning., It offers updates for the software for the ford pass app It will never download. It says an error has occurred I didn't pay over $70000 for this truck to have to take it for a forty minute drive every couple of days to keep the battery charged If t can not be repaired, I would like a refund of my money and you take your truck back. This incident occurs every three or four days. .
I was driving down the road at approximately 35mph. The vehicle began to sputter and then started loosing power. I was only able to drive approximately another 150 meters and get over to the shoulder of the road. Once stopped the vehicle stopped running all together. The vehicle did have power but only to the electronics. The engine had shut down. I shut off the vehicle all the way and then restarted. It ran fine after that. This was on 01/29/2025. The vehicle had a previous instance where it did not start. It would crank the motor for approximately 6 to 8 seconds, the engine would fire and then shut off after about 1-2 seconds. The fuse box and wiring harness have both been replaced and the vehicle still seems to be having issues that could cause major damage and or injuries/death to the occupants.
Right rear taillight lens has water ingression. The dealer states that they cannot replace the lens under warranty because of a technical issue bulletin issued by Ford Moter company that states that condensation is normal and that it should dissipate after a short period of time. Well this has not gone away. And after some time, it will start corroding the electrical connections for the lights and cause them to stop working. The dealer is telling me that it would no be covered under warranty until there is at least a quarter of water in the bottom of the lens. By that time the electrical connections for the lights will be damaged
I started receiving notifications that the battery on my 2023 Ford F150 was in battery save mode due to low battery. I called my dealership and set up an appointment. I took in my vehicle and they charged the battery but told us that Ford has an issue with these batteries not holding a charge. He recommended we just run our truck in the driveway for 30 min when this happens. The charge lasted 3 day's, I drive this vehicle multiple times daily and we have taken many trips in it. I have never had a vehicle that the battery will not charge properly and then to be told they know this is an issue but aren't doing anything to fix it is unacceptable.
My Ford F150 was hit by another vehicle going at least 45 mph on the passenger which push my vehicle into another vehicle. However, the airbags was never deployed which cause injury to my right side from steering wheel.
2019 F150 Backup camera doesn't work. Ford recalled some 2019 F150's but not mine. I've noticed they are having a huge issue with backup cameras and was also told the same by the dealership. Seems as like they should be responsible for fixing mine too. 2019 Supercab door locks freeze. Ford fixed under a recall. The recall worked for a year. Called dealer back last year Ford won't fix it again. It's obviously a manufacturer defect that wasn't fixed correctly on the recall. Seems crazy that I have to pay them to fix it again. The lock freezes open and you can't lock the door. It will open while driving.
It happened several times already. My F150 Tremor randomly has extremely loud electrical sound POP through the speakers followed by the loud static, no matter I listen to radio or connect to android studio. It's super dangerous to hear this while driving.
The contact owns a 2023 Ford F-150. The contact stated that while operating the vehicle, the check engine warning light had remained illuminated, and the speed erroneously increased and decreased while driving. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer who diagnosed that the turbo was faulty. The vehicle was not yet repaired. The contact had also experienced several electrical failures, including the rear window becoming inoperable, failing to open and close as needed. The vehicle was not yet repaired. The manufacturer was not yet notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 9,000.
Purchased the new truck 12/21/23 within a week or two all the Adas signals and chimes continued to flash. A sensor was ordered and arrived months later and was installed. The problems never stopped. Besides the signals all flashing my blind spot in my mirrors stopped working. The dangerous issue is that while I am driving all of a sudden at any given moment my vehicle loses power and it stops accelerating. I am afraid to drive my new vehicle because I am affraid of pulling out of my driveway or driving on the highway trying to change lanes I am going to lose power and get hit by someone. This truck is not safe to drive.
Air Conditioner will stop working after minutes of being on. This is not bearable in 95-110 degree weather.
The AC stops blowing and cooling at an adequate speed after driving for a period of time. The safety issue is that while the blower is malfunctioning, it cannot defog/defrost the windshield.
I was driving at about 40mph and everything shut off for about 5 seconds. It was long enough for all the gages on the instrument cluster to go to their off positions. The desolation screen went blank as did the infotainment system and all lights.
On numerous occasions all of the vehicles electronics, including screens, would shut off. Sometimes this happens while driving at highway speeds causing the vehicle to lose all power. When approaching the car to unlock there is often no power to access the vehicle, which requires manually unlocking the vehicle with the key, opening the hood, then touching metal to the battery terminal to reset the electronics. The vehicle has lost power in the middle of intersections, on the highway, and in parking lots. There are times when the car signals a fault with several of the ADAS features. When this happens it’s usually probable that once the vehicle is shut off, I won’t be able to get it started again without touching metal to the battery terminal. I have started to document the failures through video to show to the technicians just in case the OBD doesn’t match what I...
Repeated failures with my parking brake applying itself when it wants too. It’s not on a hill, it’s not just when towing my trailer, it’s not related to solar flares - this truck is dangerous. The brakes apply at speed, did it on [XXX] in LA. The whole system just applied the brakes at 55mph. I have Repeated failures with “collision warning system” and the FORD app has this notated. And at times this system applies the brakes when there is nothing in front of me! The screen (not dash) pixelates, crashes, doesn’t work properly. It will not stay connected. I rely on this navigation, the screen quits working. The passenger window goes down & up at will, like a TX employer. I cannot stop it, can’t even figure out what’s going on. My truck is not subject to recall but should be! Others have similar issues why is mine...
Randomly the ac line will freeze over and no air flow will come out of the vents although the fans can be heard working. Issues is not a simple thing to be duplicated and have brought it to 3 ford locations and still having the issue. They won’t attempt to repair anything else that could be the issue like the compressor because of fear of ford giving a bad review to the shop and mechanic. Just this week 2/28 I took the vehicle in while issue was happening and once the line defrosted and air flow came back I was again sent away because they could not replicate. This is a huge problem as I cannot defrost or defog my windshield in cold weather.
The a/c fails to operate in hot weather. You can hear the internal fans blowing, but no air comes out when it is hot outside, and the car idles for a few minutes. Has been in the shop twice to fix this.
The air conditioning stopped cooling on several ocasiones, they changed the air sistema and it failed egain
On [XXX] as I was going in reverse the car started to accelerate out of control, I pumped the breaks and it increased speed, I then tried to power down truck and that did not work. My vehicle ended up going in ditch backwards and I hit a mailbox and ditch. Earlier in the week when I went to go from reverse to forward it felt like it was locked and then it would engage. I do not feel this is safe and will not ride the vehicle as I think there is something wrong mechanically with the truck. Police report will be uploaded in 1-2 days. While driving random chiming occurs intermittently. No fault recorded or seen on dash. Second issue has happened 3x since purchase, dash cluster shut down or cycled power or reset while driving. This to me is a safety issue.
Whenever temperatures are below freezing, the TCCM engages the front IWE system and hubs to warm up for the first 2 miles of driving. However, when the system disengages, the hubs are not fully disengaging from the IWE shaft and a loud grinding noise happens. I have taken my vehicle to the Ford dealer and they gave a contradictory answer by saying that it was a “issue,” but that it was “operating normally.“ It is definitely not normal and they know it is a defective system that is damaging the drive system on a brand new vehicle with less than 800 miles on it.
Loud buzzing noise interrupts driver focus. This happens intermittently, but has occurred while braking at busy intersections, while backing into urban parking spaces, while attempting to use the camera for safe maneuvering - or just at random times while driving. Navigation has been interrupted, preventing the ability to make safe decisions to arrive at a desired location. Voice-based services have been interrupted, prompting the need for physical interaction (which entices the driver away from hands-free operation and taking their eyes off the road). Backup camera has been disabled (blank screen) while switching to Reverse preventing detection of objects behind the vehicle. Infotainment/vehicle operations are disrupted while system randomly reboots (and often buzzes loudly). Additional issues render the audio system as annoying, buzzing during songs whether on Carplay or via USB music. The optional (and expensive) B&O Unleashed audio system has been rendered almost useless. Noise has been so disruptive as...
Issue #1: Rain Sensing Wiper function is completely inoperable. Wipers must be operated manually. Issue #2: Blinker stalk becomes stuck in off and on positions. This malfunction has put myself and others at risk because the vehicle, at times, is unable to inform others on the road of the appropriate vehicle lane change. This risk has become heightened in periods of warm weather, where the stalk becomes "more stuck" than usual. The dealership has replicated the issue and attempted to resolve several times; after several months of waiting for a solution from Ford and recent near-misses on highway trips, I have decided to escalate with Ford as well as with NHTSA. The vehicle has no warning lights nor signals warning any user that an error with the blinker stalk may occur while driving. Issue #3: Left side blind side monitor false readings when there is no vehicle on driver side...
Tire monitoring system malfunctions after 30ish minutes of driving. Seems the issue is interference from the on board power generator referred to by ford as “pro power onboard”. After the tire monitoring system turns on, immediately turning off the pro power generator the tire monitoring system returns to normal. After researching this issue it’s very common and has been on going through multiple years with no fix.
The back up camera screen is constantly freezing up or the screen goes black. When this happens the driver has no control over any audio, navigation or other settings that are linked to the screen. The only way to get the screen to come back on or unlock the frozen back up screen is to turn the vehicle off and let it time out. This happens at least 3 or 4 times a week. When dealership was asked about it, was told they don’t have a fix for it and it’s a common problem.
The dash cluster randomly shuts-off/restarts while driving the vehicle and when it did last time ford app sent 3 notifications of faults with antilock brakes, TPM, restraint indicator warnings. If there is an issue with these items and I have road emergency and my brakes and restraints do not work properly it could be a safety issue for all involved in accident (I would not know how fast i was going since dash cluster is off). I took the truck to dealership and they are passing it off on SSM 51757 (which my truck also has an issue with) and a loose pin connection. But this happens with no checking of trailer tire information. The speakers made a loud crackling noise and my phone disconnected from infotainment center just prior to the incident.
