I DISCOVERED THAT ON EACH SIDE 1 OF THE 2 BOLTS SECURING THE SUB-FRAME STABILIZER BRACKET TO THE BODY WAS MISSING AND THE OTHER ONE WAS ALMOST OUT. IN THE ATTACHED PARTS DIAGRAM THE BOLTS ARE HS1. THE CAR HAS 104,000 MILES AND IT IS CLEAR THAT HAD I NOT NOTICED THE REMAINING 2 BOLTS WOULD HAVE FALLEN OUT LEAVING THE REAR OF THE SUB-FRAME ABLE TO MOVE AROUND. THE MAIN SUB-FRAME BOLTS WOULD THEN HAVE COME UNDER INCREASED STRAIN AND THE SUSPENSION WOULD HAVE BEEN SUBJECT TO INCREASED MOVEMENT IN UNINTENDED DIRECTIONS.
MY FORD EXPLORER HAS A CONSTANT EXHAUST SMELL IN THE CABIN. THE DEALERSHIP COMPLETED A RECALL WHEN I FIRST PURCHASED THE VEHICLE AND NOW THE DEALER IS TELLING ME THEY DO NOT KNOW OF ANY EXHAUST IN THE CABIN ISSUES. STRANGE NOW THE DEALERSHIP KNOWS NOTHING ABOUT A PROBLEM THEY TRIED TO FIX. THE FRONT SUSPENSION HAS BEEN REPLACED 3 TIMES NOW. ABOUT EVERY 20K MILES THE FRONT SUSPENSION START TO FAIL AND MAKES LOUD CLUNKING NOISES AND WE LOOSE ALIGNMENT IN THE FRONT END. THIS LAST TIME THE TOW IN THE FRONT TIRES CHANGED AND CAUSED FOR UNUSUAL STEERING ON THE FREEWAY. THE TURBO'S ON THE 3.5 ECOBOOST HAVE A KNOWN OIL LEAK ISSUE THAT CAUSES DAMAGE TO THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER. FORD REFUSES TO COVER THE CATALYTIC CONVERTERS EVEN IF YOU HAVE THEIR IN HOUSE EXTENDED SERVICE PLAN.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 FORD EXPLORER. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 35 MPH, THE CONTACT LOST CONTROL OF THE STEERING WHEEL AND THE BRAKES STARTED TO SQUEAK AND THEN LOCKED UP. THE VEHICLE SHIFTED INTO ONCOMING TRAFFIC, BUT NO CRASH OCCURRED. THERE WERE NO WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO FRANK FLETCHER FORD LINCOLN (3015 TURKEY CREEK RD, JOPLIN MO 64801, PHONE NUMBER: (417) 623-5660) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE CONTROL ARM DETACHED DUE TO THE CONTACT HITTING SOMETHING WITH THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 85,000.
SINCE I PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE NEW IN JULY 2014, I HAVE EXPERIENCED A SULPHUR LIKE SMELL IN THE CABIN AREA OF THE VEHICLE WHEN I ACCELERATE. THE ODOR IS STRONG ENOUGH TO MAKE YOU FEEL NAUSEOUS AND LIGHT HEADED. I HAVE TAKEN THE CAR BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP WHERE IT WAS PURCHASED ON TWO SEPARATE OCCASIONS. ON ONE VISIT THEY CLAIMED THEY HAD INSTALLED ADDITIONAL VENTS TO ELIMINATE THE FUMES. THE SECOND TIME, THE EXHAUST WAS REPORTEDLY REPLACED. NEITHER REPAIR CREATED ANY IMPROVEMENT IN REGARD TO THE SMELL. ADDITIONALLY, I HAVE EXPERIENCED ISSUES WITH THE FRONT SUSPENSION/STEERING AREA. THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP ON TWO SEPARATE OCCASIONS TO ADDRESS THE ISSUE(S). THE VEHICLE HAS A LOUD POPPING SOUND THAT EMANATES FROM THE RIGHT FRONT AXLE AREA WHEN MAKING A LOW SPEED TURN. THE FIRST REPAIR WAS REPORTEDLY A LOOSE "BOOT COVER". THE SECOND REPAIR CONSISTED OF...
MY VEHICLE HAS 69K MILES WITH ONLY FREEWAY DRIVING AND THE STRUTS AND BEARINGS ALREADY HAVE TO BE REPLACED. THE COST IS $900 AT THE FORD DEALERSHIP. I WAS TOLD THAT THE BEARINGS ARE WORN OUT CAUSING PROBLEMS WITH THE STRUTS. ANYTIME I WOULD DRIVE AT LOW SPEEDS YOU COULD HEAR A LOUD KNOCKING SOUND. MY NISSAN IS 12 YEARS OLD AND IT JUST NOW NEEDED SIMILAR MAINTENANCE. SOMETHING IS NOT RIGHT WITH THIS QUALITY.

IN JUNE 2016, I RECEIVED A MANUFACTURERS RECALL LETTER FOR A 2014 FORD EXPLORER. RECALL NUMBER: 16S18. INDICATING THAT THE REAR SUSPENSION TOE LINK(S) MAY FRACTURE DUE TO AN IMPROPER WELD. RESULTING IN LOSS OF STEERING CONTROL, A DIFFICULT STEERING CONDITION, OR REAR SUSPENSION NOISE WITH AN INCREASED RISK OF A CRASH. IT STATED THAT WHEN PARTS ARE AVAILABLE, FORD WILL SEND A LETTER TO INFORM US TO CONTACT OUR DEALER TO SCHEDULE REPAIR. FOUR MONTHS HAVE GONE BY WITH NO WORD FROM FORD. I CALLED THE LOCAL FORD DEALER AND ASKED ABOUT THE TIMING ON THIS PARTICULAR RECALL. DEALER INFORMED ME THAT PARTS TO FACILITATE REPAIRS WERE NOT YET AVAILABLE AND THAT THEY ANTICIPATE A LETTER TO BE SENT OUT IN JANUARY OF 2017. MY COMPLAINT IS THAT 4 TO POSSIBLY 6 MONTHS OR MORE IS NOT A TIMELY COMPLETION OF WORK ASSOCIATED WITH A RECALL THAT INVOLVES SAFETY...
I HAVE CALLED THE DEALERSHIP NUMEROUS TIMES SINCE RECEIVING THE RECALL NOTICE AND THEY ARE UNABLE TO REPAIR THE VEHICLE FOR THE RECALL
SUSPENSION RECALL. THERE HAS BEEN A RECALL OUT FOR OVER 3 MONTHS WHICH CAN AFFECT THE STABILITY OF THE VEHICLE AND THERE IS STILL NO FIX AVAILABLE. I HAVEN'T BEEN ABLE TO DRIVE THE CAR AND CAN'T SELL IT BECAUSE NO ONE WILL BUY IT UNTIL RECALL DONE. I HAVEN'T HAD AN INDECENT YET, BUT, I WON'T DRIVE IT BECAUSE OF THE SAFETY RISKS TO MY FAMILY.

FORD INITIATED RECALL ON 4/25/16 FOR A TOELINK SUSPENSION REPAIR. IT HAS BEEN LONGER THAN 60 DAYS AND I HAVE NOT BEEN OFFERED A REPAIR DUE TO LACK OF PARTS ACCORDING TO DISCUSSIONS WITH FORD CUSTOMER SERVICE AND MY LOCAL DEALER. I HAVE NOT BE OFFERED A TEMPORARY REPLACEMENT VEHICLE. I AM CONCERNED ABOUT SAFETY AS THE VEHICLE IS OUR PRIMARY FAMILY VEHICLE.
WE RECEIVED A RECALL LETTER CONCERNING THE REAR SUSPENSION TOE LINK. I HAVE NOT DRIVEN THIS VEHICLE SINCE RECEIVING THE LETTER. I DO NOT FEEL SAFE IN DRIVING A VEHICLE. RECENTLY HAD TO REPLACE A FAILED POWER STEERING ISSUE, AND I AM READING THAT MANY OTHERS ARE HAVING THE SAME ISSUE. FORD HAS INDICATED THAT MY VEHICLE IS NOT CURRENTLY UNDER A RECALL, BUT OBVIOUSLY IT IS EFFECTING MORE VEHICLES THAN JUST THE ONES THEY HAVE RECALLED. MY VEHICLE LOST THE ABILITY TO STEER ON THE FREEWAY, PUTTING MYSELF AND MY CHILDRENS' LIVES AT RISK. THIS IS DISGRACEFUL THAT FORD WILL NOT RECOGNIZE THIS ISSUE FOR MORE THAN JUST THE SELECTED VEHICLES.

THE MANUFACTURER WAS UNABLE TO PROVIDE A REPAIR SOLUTION TO REFER THE CONTACT TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION AND REPAIR. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE.
I AM HAVING A MAJOR CONCERN OVER THIS RECALL GIVEN THE FACT THAT NOTHING CAN BE DONE TO RESOLVE THIS ISSUE UNTIL THE THIRD QUARTER OF 2016. HOW CAN FORD ALLOW 75K+ DRIVERS TO DRIVE WILLINGLY KNOWING THERE MAY BE A POTENTIAL ISSUE WITH THEIR STEERING. THIS IS EVEN MORE SO OF A CONCERN FOR ME SINCE MY FAMILY AND I ARE SCHEDULED TO TRAVEL NORTH 16 HOURS TOMORROW. HEAVEN FORBID BUT WHO WILL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR DAMAGES TO MY VEHICLE OR MY FAMILY BECAUSE FORD WAS NOT PROACTIVELY PREPARED TO REMEDY THIS ISSUE? WHO WILL REIMBURSE ME FOR A RENTAL SINCE I CANNOT RELY ON MY VEHICLE I PAY GOOD MONEY FOR AND ON TIME EVERY MONTH? TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 FORD EXPLORER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 5 MPH, THE STEERING WHEEL BECAME DIFFICULT TO MANEUVER WITHOUT WARNING. AS THE CONTACT APPLIED FORCE TO THE STEERING WHEEL IN ORDER TO STEER THE VEHICLE, THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY JERKED TO THE SIDE. AS A RESULT, THE CONTACT CRASHED INTO THE REAR END OF ANOTHER VEHICLE. THE AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY. UPON INSPECTION, THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT THE LOWER CONTROL ARM IN THE FRONT OF THE VEHICLE HAD FRACTURED. THE CONTACT SUSTAINED MINOR BRUISES AND THE REAR PASSENGER SUSTAINED MINOR NECK BRUISES THAT REQUIRED MEDICAL ATTENTION. A POLICE REPORT WAS NOT FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE CONTROL ARM NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 18,500.
ON SEPTEMBER 17, 2015 PICKED MY DAUGHTER UP FROM SWIM PRACTICE AT 5:50 PM THEN WE WENT TO PICK HER FRIEND UP AND WENT ON 220 TOWARDS MILL HALL TO DROP THEM OFF AT A FOOTBALL GAME, WHILE ON HIGH WAY SMELLED AN AWFUL SMELL, THOUGHT IT WAS CAR IN FRONT OF ME, WE PROCEEDED TO MILL HALL EXIT WHERE WE GOT OFF AND TOOK THEM TO CENTRAL MOUNTAIN MIDDLE SCHOOL DROPPED THEM OFF TO A FOOTBALL GAME AND PROCEEDED THROUGH PARKING LOT WHICH IS 5 MPH OR LESS AND AT APPROXIMATELY 6:16 PM MY CAR LOCKED UP SKIDDED OVER TO CURB AND HIT THAT A COUPLE TIMES AND THEN ACROSS THE PARKING LOT WHERE IT STOPPED HALF IN MIDDLE OF ROAD. I WAITED 4 HOURS FOR A TOW TRUCK WHICH AS TOWED TO FORD GARAGE, NEXT DAY STATE POLICE LOOKED AT MY CAR BEFORE ANYONE ELSE AND DEFINITELY A...
MY GRANDSON WENT OFF THE ROAD AT 70MPH INTO SOME PINE TREES AND COMPLETLE SEVERED THE PASSAGENS WHEEL OFF AND WINDSHIELD COMPLETLE DESTROYES ROOF DAMAGE AND BODY DAMAGE AND NO AIR BAGS DEPLOYED. I TALKE TO A CUSTOMER WHO ALSO HAD A 2014 EXPLORER THAT WAS INVOLVED IN A COLLISION AND THEIR AIR BAGS DIDN'T DEPLOY EITHER .THE DAMAGE TO MY VEHICLE WAS ON THE FRONT AND THE SIDE YET NO AIRBAGE DEPLOYED. SOMETHING IS WRONG !!! ITS A MIRACLE MY GRANDSON IS ALIVE I HAVE PICTURES.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 FORD EXPLORER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THERE WAS AN ABNORMAL NOISE COMING FROM THE FRONT AREA OF THE VEHICLE NEAR THE BUMPER. THE NOISE WAS PRESENT WHEN THE STEERING WHEEL WAS TURNED TO THE LEFT OR RIGHT. THE DEALER COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE FAILURE INITIALLY. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER A SECOND TIME AND THEY REPLACED THE HALF SHAFT THRUST WASHER. ON A THIRD VISIT TO THE DEALER, THEY PROVIDED A TEST DRIVE, REPLACED THE PASSENGER SIDE STRUTS, AND INSPECTED THE NUTS AND BOLTS; HOWEVER, THE NOISE CONTINUED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER'S BODY SHOP. THE TECHNICIAN MOVED THE FRONT BUMPER AND REPLACED THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE BODY APRON PANEL ALONG WITH NEW BOLTS, BUT THE NOISE CONTINUED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 39,000.
VEHICLE WAS TRAVELING APPROXIMATELY 30-35 MPH DOWN A ROAD WITH NO POT HOLES WHEN THE FRONT RIGHT LOWER CONTROL ARM BROKE IN HALF. VEHICLE LOST CONTROL AND PULLED TO THE RIGHT BRINGING THE VEHICLE INTO THE STREET CURB. DAMAGE TO THE FENDER, TIRE, WHEEL, CV JOINT, AND OTHER ASSOCIATED PARTS REPORTED. TO AVOID HITTING ANOTHER VEHICLE THAT ILLEGALLY CAME INTO THE LANE I WAS ENTERING (THEY WERE DRIVING ON THE SHOULDER), I HAD TO TAKE EVASIVE ACTION, WHICH CAUSED ME TO TURN MY VEHICLE INTO A CURB. AT THE TIME, I WAS TRAVELING 15 TO MAYBE 20 MPH. AFTER HITTING THE CURB, MY VEHICLE CAME TO A STOP AND UPON INSPECTION I DISCOVERED THAT THE LOWER CONTROL ARM HAD COMPLETELY BROKEN IN HALF. MY VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A LOCAL DEALERSHIP, WHERE THEY SUBSEQUENTLY SERVICED THE VEHICLE, WHICH I PICKED UP ON MARCH 15, 2014. HOWEVER, WITHIN 100 MILES OF DRIVING, MULTIPLE SYSTEM ERRORS OCCURRED, AND MY STEERING WENT OUT. THE DEALERSHIP IS NOW SAYING THERE WAS APPARENTLY AN ISSUE WITH THE STEERING GEAR ASSEMBLY, AND THAT THEY WILL BE ABLE TO FURTHER DIAGNOSE UPON REPLACING THAT PART.
