MY CAR STARTED MAKING A POPPING NOTICE EVERY TIME I TURNED MY WHEEL WHILE DRIVING. I WAS TOLD IT WAS THE RACK N PINION AND ALSO SUSPENSION ON MY FORD.
WHILE STATIONARY OR AT SLOW SPEEDS, WHEN TURNING THE STEERING WHEEL NEAR THE MAX, THE RIGHT FRONT STRUT MOUNT GIVES A CLANGING SOUND. THIS IS DUE TO A LOOSE STRUT MOUNT THAT COULD BE DANGEROUS. THIS OCCURS ON CITY ROADS WHERE SPEEDS ARE LOW ENOUGH TO ALONG NEAR MAXIMUM TURNING RADIUS.

RECALL# 19S17 MA'AM, SIR, I OWN A 2013 FORD EXPLORER, VIN#[XXX]. IN DECEMBER 2015, I MOVED TO GERMANY IN UNDER US ARMY ORDERS AND EXPORTED MY SUV TO OUR MILITARY INSTALLATION IN VILSECK, GERMANY. I HAVE ALWAYS HAD ISSUES WITH THE CAR, EXPERIENCING STEERING PROBLEMS AND TWICE LOST CONTROL, WHICH RESULTED IN TWO ACCIDENTS IN MARCH, 2016 AND NOVEMBER, 2017. OVER MY DEPLOYMENT TO GERMANY, I SOUGHT HELP FROM LOCAL FORD SITES IN BAVARIA, SPENT CONSIDERABLE AMOUNTS TO FIX THE ISSUE THINKING THE BRAKES ARE THE ISSUES AND IN TIMES CHANGING TIRES, BUT IN VAIN. WHEN, I ATTEMPTED TO IMPORT THE VEHICLE BACK TO THE HOMELAND UPON MY RECENT PERMANENT CHANGE OF STATION (PCS) BACK TO HURLBURT FIELD, FL, I FOUND OUT THAT THE SUV WAS SUBJECT TO...
I HAVE RECEIVED CARBON MONOXIDE POISONING FROM DRIVING MY 2013 FORD EXPLORER. I ALSO HAVE HAD THE FRONT END LOOKED AT AND REPAIRED HAD TO PAY MOST OF THE COSTS (EXTENDED WARRANTY PAID FOR SOME) FOR THE FRONT END POPPING SOUNDS WHILE TURNING. THE SOUND IS STILL THERE AND ON BOTH SIDES NOW. SO MONEY WASTED TOWARDS FORD!! THE VEHICLE ISNT DRIVABLE AT THIS POINT AND THAT LEAVES ME WITHOUT A VEHICLE.
ON MY EXPLORER THE RECALL 19V-435 (FORD NUMBER 19S17) WAS EXECUTED. AFTER 3 MONTH AND APPROX. 2500MI THE LEFT NEW TOE LINK BROKE. THE CAR WAS RUNNING WITH 35MPH TO AN INTERSECTION AND I STARTED MODERATE BRAKING IN FRONT.OF A TRAFFIC LIGHT. DURING BRAKING THE LEFT NEW TOE LINK BROKE.
VEHICLE HAD TOE LINK REPLACED IN ACCORDANCE WITH RECALL 19V-435 ON 8-19-19. ON 9-10-19, THE REPLACEMENT TOE LINK FAILED WHILE DRIVING AT 45MPH. THE DEALERSHIP REPORTS THE TOE LINK FAILED AT THE WELD.
TAKATA RECALL. NEVER INFORMED OF THE RECALL THAT WAS IN PLACE.

JONES-WEST FORD (3600 KIETZKE LN, RENO, NV 89502, (775) 329-8800) WAS CONTACTED AND CONFIRMED THAT THE PARTS WERE NOT AVAILABLE FOR THE RECALL REMEDY. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE AND WAS NOT ABLE TO CONFIRM WHEN THE PARTS WERE TO BECOME AVAILABLE. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE. PARTS DISTRIBUTION DISCONNECT.
FRONT SWAY BAR LINKS HAVE BEEN KNOCKING OVER 1 YEAR AGO. AT THE TIME MY CAR WAS ONLY 5 YEARS OLD. AT FIRST THE FORD DEALERSHIP THEY THOUGHT IT WAS VALVE BODY IN THE SUSPENSION THE FIRST TIME THEY CHECKED. EXPLORER WAS JERKING WHEN I SLOWED DOWN TO A STOP. THE SECOND TIME I TOOK IT IN THEY SAID IT WAS THE THROTTLE BODY. THEY REPLACED THAT BECAUSE I COMPLAINED THAT I HAVE HAD SO MANY PROBLEMS WITH A 5 TO 6 YEAR OLD CAR. ONLY HAS 77,000 MILES ON IT.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 FORD EXPLORER. WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE STEERING WHEEL SUDDENLY BECAME VERY DIFFICULT TO TURN IN EITHER DIRECTION. THE FAILURE OCCURRED ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS AND THE FUSE WAS REINSERTED IN ORDER TO REPAIR THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. ALSO, WHILE DRIVING, THE PASSENGER SIDE OF THE VEHICLE WOBBLED AND VIBRATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO BILL FLICK FORD (737 NORTH FREEWAY SERVICE RD, HUNTSVILLE, TX) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE SUSPENSION WAS FAULTY. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. FURTHERMORE, WHILE OPERATING THE VEHICLE, THE DOOR AJAR WARNING MESSAGE ERRONEOUSLY DISPLAYED, THE INTERIOR DOME LIGHT REMAINED ILLUMINATED, AND THE DOORS WOULD NOT LOCK. THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURES WAS NOT DETERMINED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURES. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 800. *TR
THE VEHICLE FELT AS IF THE ALIGNMENT WAS BAD. IT WAS VERY DIFFICULT TO STEER. TURNING WAS PARTICULAR;Y DIFFICULT. IT SOUNDS VERY SIMILAR TO EXACTLY WHAT THE RECALL ON THE TOE LINKS STATED. THE DEALERSHIP SAID THE KNUCKLES WERE BAD AND NEEDED REPLACED AND THAT IT HAPPENS TO EVERY 2013 FORD EXPLORER FOR SOME REASON.
ISSUE ALREADY REPORTED.SEE NHTSA LD.NUMBER 11174395.VEHICLE IS AWD. CLUNKING NOISE COMING FROM FRONT AXIL AREA ONLY. CURRENT MILAGE86644.
IN 2013 THE DEALER REFUSE TO WORK ON THE ISSUE WHILE IT WAS UNDER WARRANTY. EITHER THE WHEEL HUB AND BEARINGS ARE OUT OR THE STRUTS ARE DEFECTIVE.THE SOUND HAPPENS IN MOTION AND STATIONARY IF MOVING THE STEERING WHEEL TO THE LEFT AND RIGHT. I HAVE CALLED AND COMPLAINED AND WAS TOLD THAT THERE WAS RECALLS FOR THIS MAKE AND MODEL BUT NOT WITH MY VIN NUMBER. WAS TOLD THAT A BASE MODEL ISN'T THAT IMPORTANT. CALLED AGAIN TO REPORT IT TO FORD 2/4/2019 AND WAS TOLD THAT THERE ARE ISSUES WITH YOUR MAKE AND MODEL AND THERE WASN'T ANY THING THEY COULD DO UNTIL NHTSA STEPS IN AND DIRECT ME TO THIS WEBSITE.
DRIVING ON NYS THRUWAY AT 70 MPH. ROADWAY DRY, WEATHER IS CLEAR, DRY AND SUNNY. SUDDENLY AND WITHOUT ANY WARNING SIGNS THE VEHICLE VIOLENTLY LURCHED TO THE LEFT, RIGHT, SIDEWAYS, ETC. THE CAR WAS UNABLE TO BE STEERED AND WAS COMPLETELY OUT OF THE DRIVER'S CONTROL AND NOT RESPONDING TO ANY INPUT. THIS REPEATED ITSELF UNTIL THE CAR SCRUBBED SPEED AND ENDED UP ON THE ROAD SHOULDER. LUCKILY THERE WERE NO OTHER VEHICLES ON OUR SIDE OR FOLLOWING CLOSELY BEHIND WHEN THE WILD RIDE OCCURRED. WE ARE ALSO FORTUNATE THAT THE CAR DIDN'T ROLL OVER DURING THE SIDEWAYS MOVEMENTS- IT CAME CLOSE TO IT. AT THIS POINT THE CAR'S STEERING WOBBLE WAS SO SEVERE THAT IT WAS IMPOSSIBLE TO OPERATE. THE CAR WAS TOWED TO OUR LOCAL FORD DEALER AND UPON EXAMINATION IT WAS DETERMINED THAT THE REAR SUSPENSION TOE LINK HAD SNAPPED CAUSING THE KNUCKLE AND WHEEL BEARING TO...
I HAVE BEEN COMPLAINING OF A SUSPENSION ISSUE SINCE I HAD PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE IN 2013. I AM BEING TOLD THERE WANT BE A RECALL UNTIL SOMEONE DIES. I EVEN TRIED TO HAVE IT FIXED UNDER WARRANTY BUT SUSPENSION ARE NOT COVERED ACCORDING TO FORD DEALERS.
WHILE DRIVING THE PASSENGER SIDE STARTED 'CLUNKING' WHILE TURNING. THE NOISE HAPPENED IF THE VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY OR IN MOTION. WE HAD THE STRUT REPLACED AND IT FIXED THE ISSUE FOR A LITTLE UNDER 6 WEEKS. ALL REPLACEMENT PETS CAME STRAIGHT FROM FORD. WITHIN 6 WEEKS OF REPLACEMENT THE FORD REPLACEMENT PARTS HAVE NOW GONE BAD AGAIN AND DAMAGED THE CV AXLE CAUSING A TERRIFYING SHAKE WHEN ACCELERATING.
UPPER STRUT MOUNT PASSENGER SIDE GONE BAD. MAKES NOISE WHEN STEERING. DOES IT WHEN IN MOTION OR STATIONARY.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 FORD EXPLORER. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 15 MPH, THE CONTACT HEARD AN ABNORMAL NOISE COMING FROM THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE. THERE WERE NO WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT GOT OUT TO OBSERVE THE VEHICLE AND NOTICED THAT THE LOWER CONTROL ARM WAS DETACHED FROM THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO GUS MACHADO FORD (1200 W 49TH ST, HIALEAH, FL 33012) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE LOWER CONTROL ARM AND WHEEL NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 40,000.
DRIVING ON TEXAS SH 290 POWER STEERING FAILED, STEERING LOST POWER ASSIST AT 70 MPH.
FRONT SUSPENSION MAKES NOISES WHEN DRIVING OVER A BUMP. BILL FLICK FORD WANTS TO CHARGE MONEY IN ORDER TO LOOK AT A DEFECT IN THE SUSPENSION. WHEN I REPORTED THE ISSUE THE FORD EXPLORER HAD IT WAS STILL UNDER WARRANTY. THE WORKERS ALSO SAID THAT IT WAS COMMON FOR THE 2013 FORD EXPLORER TO HAVE THE SUSPENSION PROBLEMS.
I WAS BACKING UP FROM PARKING SPOT IN A CITY GARAGE AND WHEN I PLACE THE CAR IN DRIVE MY POWER ASSISTED STEERING (EPAS) FAILED. I GOT THE POWER STEERING FAULT ERROR, ADVANCETRAC ERROR AND TERRAIN MANAGEMENT ERROR. THE CAR WAS TOO DIFFICULT TO MANUALLY STEER ACTUALLY NEARLY IMPOSSIBLE. IT TOOK ALMOST 1 HOUR AND 2 GROWN BIG MEN TO MANUALLY STEER IT OUT OF THE GARAGE SO THAT IT COULD BE PUT ONTO A FLAT BED TOW TRUCK. FORD CLAIMS THAT MY VIN# NUMBER IS NOT PART OF THE RECALL (14S06) FOR THIS ISSUE. THE DEALERSHIP THAT I HAD IT TOWED TO HAS QUOTED ME AROUND $2,000 TO REPLACE THE STEERING RACK. THIS IS DEFINITELY A SAFETY HAZARD AND FORD NEED TO TAKES RESPONSIBILITY AND CORRECT THIS ISSUE.
EXITING FROM PARKING LOT AND SPEED OF ABOUT 15 MPH ON A STRAIGHT ROAD, NO POT HOLES, AT ABOUT 100 FT FROM THE PARKING EXIT, IT HIT AN ELECTRIC POST. LEFT FRONT SUSPENSION, FENDER, WHEELS,PILLARS, ROCKER & FLOOR, RADIATOR SUPPORT, FRONT LAMPS, HOOD,STEERING ROCK, CRADLE, TRANSMISSION TRANSFER CASE, FRONT DOOR AND MANY MORE DAMAGE. ALL ARE IN LEFT SIDE. I CHECKED THE VIN BUT IT IS NOT ON RECALL FOR POWER STEERING PROBLEM HOWEVER I SUSPECT POWER STEERING WAS THE CAUSED OF ACCIDENT. IT IS A MAJOR DAMAGED AND THE INSURANCE IS NOT YET DECIDED IF REPAIR OR TOTAL WRECK. I ASKED THE FORD DEALERSHIP TO SEE ON THE DIAGNOSTIC COMPUTER OF THE VEHICLE BUT UP TO NOW THEY HAVE NOT YET CHECK. *TR
WHILE DRIVING ON A HIGHWAY, MY STEERING BEGAN TO FEEL TIGHTER AND TIGHTER, WITH THE WHEEL HARDER TO TURN. SOON IT BEGAN TO REQUIRE A "PUSH" TO MAKE THE MOVEMENT OF THE WHEEL BEGIN. I PULLED OFF THE HIGHWAY AND THE DASH ALERTS CAME ON. ONE SAID, "SERVICE POWER STEERING NOW" AND ONE INDICATED THAT THE TRACTION CONTROL FUNCTION WAS OFF. THE MANUAL SAID I SHOULD SHUT OFF THE ENGINE AND IT WOULD RESET THESE. INSTEAD, THE STEERING LOCKED ENTIRELY. NO DEALERS WERE STILL OPEN THE NIGHT BEFORE THANKSGIVING, SO I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO A SHOP I'VE USED. THEY DIDN'T HAVE THE COMPUTER HOOKUPS NECESSARY SO I TOWED IT AGAIN TO ANOTHER SHOP. THEY "CLEARED" THE CODES, AND FOUND THE VEHICLE DID NOT MALFUNCTION AGAIN. THEY ALERTED ME TO THE RECALL, FORDS #14S06 THIS RECALL INCLUDED EXPLORES MADE BETWEEN MAY OF 2010 AND FEBRUARY 28, 2013. TL* THE CONTACT RENTED A 2013 FORD EXPLORER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 50 MPH, A LOUD EXPLOSIVE NOISE WAS EMITTED AS THE FRONT PASSENGER'S SIDE OF THE VEHICLE COLLAPSED. THE CONTACT INSPECTED THE VEHICLE AND DISCOVERED THAT THE FRONT AXLE HAD BECOME SEPARATED FROM THE TRANSFER CASE. THE SHAFT HAD ALSO ROTATED AND CAUSED DAMAGE TO THE PASSENGER'S SIDE UPPER CONTROL ARM. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE RENTAL COMPANY FOR FURTHER INSPECTION. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 13,000.
