While driving my Ram truck at approximately 55 MPH, the front gas tank strap failed, causing the front portion of the fuel tank to drop below the vehicle’s body. Upon inspection, I found that the strap securing the tank had detached from its connection point on the frame. The failed part is available for inspection upon request. This incident presented a serious safety hazard to myself and others on the road, as the entire fuel tank could have separated from the vehicle, creating a significant risk of fire or collision. The issue was reported to a local dealership, which advised me to contact Dodge. Dodge acknowledged the issue but stated there is no warranty coverage or recall, and that any repair would be at my expense. No formal inspection has been performed other than my own, and I have implemented a temporary repair to secure the tank. There were no...
I noticed while looking underneath my vehicle the front fuel tank strap was no longer attached. Further inspection show the frame had rusted enough that the fuel tank strap is no longer attachable. I noticed a recall (U04 / NHTSA 18V-160) was available however my VIN shows no record of this recall being available. So no dealer will assist me with it although my vehicle meets all of the prerequisites the recall states. Currently undriveable due to safety concerns.
Front gas tank strap pulled out from (rusted)-frame. Dropping front of (full) gas tank inches from road. I’m told there was an extended warranty for the issue. That I never received notice of. It has since expired. I found recall - U04/NHTSA 18V-160 That I’m also told doesn’t apply to my vehicle. Odd that the extended warranty would have. But the recall doesn’t?
While driving down the highway I hit a bump then got a severe grinding noise in my 2012 Ram 1500. I pulled over and found the front gas tank strap had pulled out of the welded frame bracket for the fuel tank strap. The strap was not broken, the front fuel tank frame bracket had rusted out. The front fuel tank bracket which is welded to the frame needs to be repaired so the fuel tank strap will be held securely. The grinding I heard was the front fuel tank strap that had become detached was rubbing on the driveshaft.
Fuel tank strap came loose from frame
Fuel pump won’t shut off when car is turned off, I had to pull out fuel pump fuse because my battery kept getting drain, I’ve had difficulty starting and it’s only been a month since I bought this car,I’ve had to buy a bypass cable to temporarily fix the issue, this has happen to so many people, there should be a recall on the timp failing
Bracket for fuel tank straps broke, causing gas tank to fall during operation without any warning,it could of caused a fire or explosion causing harm to driver and others or death. My local service center confirmed the problem and repaired the bracket and secured the gas tank back into place with new straps. This happened on our about [XXX] about [XXX].Friday (Rush Hour)!! I was at Walmart when I saw the problem returning to my truck.I went to the auto service center to buy some cargo straps to secure the gas tank back into place so it was safe to drive, the service manager was shocked! Thank God that I saw the problem and secured the gas tank!!! I was a mechanic and service manager earlier in life.I called a local Ram Dealer Ganley in Bedford Ohio and found out that this problem had a extended warranty on it that expired 4 or...
Fuel pump randomly shuts down while driving. Or no start condition. Loss of cruise control hitting bumps in the road. Service 4x4, no tc, no cc, trailer lights disconnect. Dealer has recalls on other same year vehicles w same motor w same TIPM defective part. Not on truck. Warranty will not cover due to common problem. Since fuel relay is part of fuse box, will not cover part. Part alone is $2200. Dealer only. Can't get remanfactured, rebuilt, or part store item. Stuck with a truck that barely runs and almost $3000 to fix a non warranty issue. And very common.
TIPM failure. Vehicle fails to start ("crank, no start" or it acts likes it's out of gas) and/or fuel pump continues pumping after turning the vehicle off (draining battery). The vehicle stalls while driving which has created very unsafe conditions. There has been recalls on other dodge vehicles with same problem. This needs to be a uniform recall on all affected vehicles.
Front fuel tank strap rusted off of the frame
Catalytic converter, sensors, knocking loss of power, bogging , hot and cold engine , was on a road trip back home passing a 18 wheeler and it starts to lose power Boggs down and then takes off , steering wheel was iffy, fumes are stong in and out of truck. Threw my suitcase and dog in floor . I have replaced sensors , knock sensor , coils, sparks plugs - no fix muffler shop said catalytic is not plugged up . Sent me to mechanic said ram / dodge designed these years messed up common problem ,one mechanic telling me new engine parts might fix won’t pass inspection so now it just sits and drys up that’s not right for what it has cost my insurance said there nothing they can help with it only has 84k miles please emission and knock common problem that is mana factory defect surely...
Looking under my truck, I found that the front Gas Tank Strap had fallen down from the vehicle frame mount. During further inspection of the vehicle it was that the gas tank strap mounting point has rusted through and that the strap has pulled thru the rusted point. The front of the gas tank has fallen down and pushed the gas tank strap into the drive shaft. Th only thing supporting the gas tank is the rear gas tank strap
Shut off vehicle and fuel pump kept running. Tapped on Totally Integrated Power Managment module and stuck relay corrected, so the fuel pump shut off. Found a safety recall (Safety Recall R09/NHTSA 15v-115) for stuck relay in TIPM on same year Dodge Durango and Jeep Grand Cherokee. A quick search of many automotive enthusiast forums indicates this issue is common in my particular year, make, and model vehicle as well. I believe this recall should be expanded to include all Dodge products using similar TIMP/Fuel Relay configurations. It is very likely this relay could have been stuck off, while driving causing an unexpected engine shutdown. In my case I was lucky it was stuck on.
Happen to notice something hanging under my truck while in a parking lot. Looked under and the front of my fuel tank was almost touching the ground. After further inspection the front strap had pulled out of the frame that was suppose to be holding it. The frame was completely rusted out and can no longer hold the fuel tank strap. I never received a letter regarding the extended warranty so was unaware of that this issues could occur. Now not covered because the extended warranty expired 20 days ago. First time while owning any vehicle where I though the vehicle was putting me in danger because of a failed component. This should be a safety recall not a extended warranty. I had over 22 gallons of fuel in the tank when it failed.
Went to drive my truck to the store this morning and heard metal scraping against pavement. I immediately pulled over and looked under truck and noticed my fuel tank was hanging down and the front bracket came undone. Luckily was only a couple blocks from the house slowly drove back home so I could more in depth diagnose the issue. I noticed the strap to hold fuel tank up seemed fine but the bracket it sits in, in the frame rusted out causing the strap to come out and the tank to drop. Now no options to fix and without a vehicle until I can get it figured out… I did some research and noticed that there was a recall for this and the year of my truck was included so typed my vin on NHTSA and showed my truck has 0 unrepaired recalls but this is a recall and...
The Totally Integrated Power Module (TIPM) system installed in 2009-2012 Ram vehicles is prone to premature failure, resulting in the sudden cessation of the fuel pump while the vehicle is in operation. This critical malfunction poses significant safety hazards, including the potential for collisions with other vehicles, pedestrians, or stationary objects. Despite the persistence of this issue over several years, no official recall has been initiated to address it. Furthermore, in an attempt to mitigate the TIPM's failure and maintain continuous fuel pump operation, some individuals have resorted to unauthorized modifications, commonly referred to as "Jerry rigging," by bypassing the system with improvised wiring to maintain a constant "hot status." However, this makeshift solution introduces additional risks, including the heightened potential for serious fires due to the bypassed safety mechanisms. Given the severity of these safety concerns and the absence of a comprehensive recall, there is a pressing need for...
GAS TANK STRAP IS NOT CONNECTED I SEE A RECALL ON THE YEAR OF MY TRUCK BUT WHEN I LOOK UP MY VIN # IT DONT SHOW MY TRUCK HAVING THE PROBLEM BUT IT SAYS IN THE RECALL MY TRUCK ON IT WHAT IS THE DEAL WITH THAT
The TIPM is failing in several areas... Starter, fuel pump and passenger compartment heater. This seems to be a common problem and Ram has never been held accountable... This plastic box and wires that should cost under a hundred dollars to replace is being sold on line between $500 and $1500 The manufacturer also has a built in design flaw where the electrical auto start function is disabled if the consumer has to replace the battery. They must pay a dealer to reprogram the truck to auto start... Seems like Dodge new they would be robbing the public on both of these items...
Vehicle i cranks but doesn't always start. I did notice even after it started it seemed to run normally .But when I turn the key off I can still hear fuel pump running. It never shut off. I had to pull the relay fuse. After doing some research. I found that there was or is a safety recall on the fuel pump relay on other Chrysler vehicles having the same issue .Safety recall P54/NHTSA 14V-530. The vehicles that were recalled uses the same tipm as my vehicle. Just wanting to know if you can tell me if my vehicle falls under the same recall if so how can I get it repaired. And if it doesn't fall under the same recall why not. It doesn't seem to be very safe for a fuel pump to be running constantly. I do not have the best of hearing. My wife was the...
In having my vehicle serviced, my mechanic noticed that one of the straps on my gas tank was corroded and needed to be replaced. He advised me that a safety recall was issued (TSB- 14-002-18) covering this issue. I was never issued a recall notice. I contacted the RAM recall # to raise the issue. I was told by 2 separate agents that the recall was VIN specific and that my RAM was not part of the recall. The vehicle was purchased and registered in CT as new in early 2013. I have been the owner since. When I questioned why the same model having the same issue would not be covered, I was told that is not covered since it was inspected when manufactured. This makes no sense since the issue and notice of recall happened years later. I was told I need to remediate this safety issue at...
Van shuts off while driving on the highway When attempting to restart no fuel is provided to the fuel rail Engine cranks but remains with a no start condition Negative battery terminal must be disconnected to reset the PCM. After reconnection and reset of PCM vehicle will start. No diagnostic trouble codes are provided through OBD port. No check engine light eliminates Issue has happened numerous times and is documented on the internet through various chat boards
Gas tank strap pulled through where it is mounted.
The fuel strap frame bracket failure has occured on my vehicle and i'm wondering why it was not covered under the recall? ref: Safety Recall U04 / NHTSA 18V-160 Frame Bracket
The component affected on my 2012 dodge ram is the front fuel tank strap frame "T slot" bracket that has corroded with water mix with road salt, making the fuel tank to dangle and possibly causing it to drop and make contact with the ground. I know other ram truck have this recall but unfortunately this recall doesn't show up on my vin. The problem has been confirmed by a dealer but unfortunately they cant not fix it unless the recall shows on my vin or i pay out of pocket.
Gas tank sagging loosely, strap is not supporting tank.
I just received this truck, 2012 RAM 1500, from my uncle. Worked great for a couple of months but then started having issues with the engine stalling and losing power while driving. Then I would have issues getting it to start again. The last time I was stranded was at a friend's house and wasn't able to get it to start again. His cousin that works on cars initially determined it was a fuel pump issue because he could get it to start by spraying ethanol in the engine but wouldn't stay started. Then another friend of his inquired about the truck and he told him the issue. He knew of the known issue with the TIPM in this year/model truck which was a fuel pump relay issue. He was able to clean some contacts and got it to start again which allowed me to get it home. I did...
While operating the vehicle at highway speed the vehicle shut off causing total loss of power. This happened on a road with speeds at 55 mph. It also occured while pulling into my driveway at a low speed, and i have had 3 occurences of the vehicle power "surging" at varied speeds. I had the fuel pump replaced, which did not remedy the problem. After hearing my fuel pump running with the vehicle shut off, i did some further research and found that the TIPM (toatally integrated power module) is the culprit and has been found to cause several other electrical system issues. Loss of power in a low speed scenario, such as turning left from one roadway to an intersecting road can cause the vehicle to be stranded in the middle of the road and place the stranded vehicle in the line of incoming traffic posing a serious risk...
The fuel tank strap frame T -slot bracket corroded and the fuel tank fell upon the ground while traveling on roadway . there is a recall for this but it doesn't look like my vehicle was included .
Failure of fuel pump relay on above listed 2012 Ram 1500 at 69,999 miles. Current repair requires replacement of entire TIPM module (at a cost of $1,000 to 2,000) as this relay is soldered to the circuit board deep inside the module, making it nearly impossible to cost effectively replace this critical $10.00 part. Of note, the TIPM installed in this vehicle has 10 slots (9 relays installed and 1 open slots) for "replaceable" relays under the cover. Of these replaceable relays at least 2 (blower motor and park lamp) are less critical with one empty slot available. Further a safety recall was issued in December of 2014 (Safety Recall P54/14V530 Fuel Pump Relay) for 2011 models of the Dodge Durango and Jeep Grand Cherokee, but no other models despite that the same or very similar designed TIPM's are used in virtually all Chrysler, Dodge, Ram and Jeep vehicles along...
The frame rusted at the attachment point for one of the fuel tank support straps. The fuel tank sagged as it was being supported by only one strap.
While driving the Vehicle at 9:30pm on 7/22/22 the vehicle suddenly accelerated on its own at a very fast rate after I sped up to yield over into another lane coming off the highway. There was luckily no vehicles ahead of me and I was on a straight away or else I would’ve hit someone. I pressed the brakes down but they wouldn’t bring the vehicle to a stop. I placed the transmission in neutral and it slowed down but soon as I put it back in drive it accelerated again. I went through this cycle 4 times then finally I gained control of the vehicle again. I have read online the dealer says it’s user error or floor mats. That was not the case at all. My floor mats are stock and have taps keeping them secure. This situation was very dangerous and if it happens again it could...
Engine ticking heavily and diminishes some when engine warms up. Vehicle dies randomly while driving and loss of power steering and assisted breaking. Almost had an accident while turning a corner and vehicle died.
Middle gas tank strap frame bracket has corroded. The tank strap has fallen off and the gas tank almost detached.
What happened to my 2012 1500 Dodge Ram Pickup truck is exactly what is stated in the U04 Ram recall. This makes me wonder why am I not also listed in the recall. While driving to work I felt a big jolt in the car. I thought initially it was something with the brakes but everything seem ok with the brakes and since I was only a block away from work I kept going and park in my assigned parking lot. Only after work did I notice what had happened. The gas tank towards the front of the car had dropped as the strap had detached. I used the tire jack to push the tank back up and then tied rope around the gas tank to hold it in place. I then drove the truck to the local Tire Discounters who said they could fix the Gas tank strap. Only...
I took my vehicle in for an oil drip and the mechanic tells me that I have a strap broken and hanging down on my fuel tank. He tells me there is a recall for it. I called the dealership and they tell me there is a recall for some trucks with the same year, make and model but mine is not one of them. I don't understand why my truck is not covered under this recall when it happened to my truck. Safety recall U04/NHTSA18V-160 Frame bracket.
TIPM is sending intermittent signal to fuel pump relay cause truck to stall at highway speeds.
I was driving on the expressway and my gas tank dropped in the front, causing the front strap to make contact with my drive shaft. The front of the fuel tank was hanging one inch from the cement. I had to pull to the side of the roadway and have someone bring me a "tie down ratchet strap" to hold the tank in place so I could get off the side of the expressway. Upon inspection the strap "T" end appeared to be fine, but the part on the frame that holds it was totally rotted. My Truck had 58,982 miles on it when this happened. My truck is in excellent condition otherwise. * I had received a recall notice years ago for this issue and then I got a letter a few weeks later from FCA telling me to disregard the notice that my vehicle was not affected. I...
SEEMS LIKE THIS IS NOT NEW, OTHERS THAT OWN THE SAME 1500 MODEL HAVE ISSUES WITH LIFTS AND CAMSHAFT CAUSING A MISS FIRE, P030SOMETHING (MINES IS P0303). THE SPARK PLUS/ FUEL INJECTORS/ AND COIL PACKS HAVE BEEN CHANGED. OUT OF NOWHERE I GET A CODE WHILE DRIVING OUT OF TOWN. THE TRUCK HAS ALWAYS HAD A RUNNING TICK TO IT. I HAVE MY VECHILE SERVICED BY DODGE THEMSELVES. THEY NEVER STATED IT WAS AN ISSUE. THIS IS A BIG ISSUE IN HEMI 5.7 ENGINES MANUFACTURED AFTER THE REDESIGNED FROM THE MAGNUM PLATFORM.
2012 DODGE RAM 1500 HEMI STALLS WHILE DRIVING, STOPPING AT RED LIGHT, OR TURNING. VERY DANGEROUS. THEN WON'T START, WHEN IT DOES START IT DIES INSTANTLY. FUEL PUMP ISSUE. TIPM ISSUE. DEALERSHIP EXTERNAL FUEL PUMP RELAY KIT REQUIRES CUTTING WIRES UNDER THE TIPM. DEALERSHIP WILL REPLACE TIPM FOR ABOUT $1500 IT IS A DODGE ISSUE SHOULD HAVE A RECALL. TRUCK SITTING IN DRIVEWAY, PAYING INSURANCE ON A TRUCK THAT WON'T START. ONLY 80,000 MILES, CHRYSLER DODGE VEHICLES FREQUENTLY HAVE THIS ISSUE. PLEASE RECALL THEM. THANKS CAN NOT EVER IMAGINE BUYING A DODGE AGAIN.
THE FUEL PUMP REMAINS RUNNING AFTER VEHICLE IS TURNED OFF.
POWER WINDOWS WORKED WEN THEY WANTED TO . WHILE DRIVING ALL WARNING LIGHTS WOULD FLASH ON IN THE CLUSTER LIKE I TURNED THE KEY OFF THEN ON . TRUCK KEPT RUNNING . STARTED GETTING HARD TO START . ONCE LOST POWER WHILE DRIVING LIKE IT WAS RUNNING OUT OF GAS . NOW IT DOESN'T START AT ALL . HAD IT TOWED TO DEALER THEY TOLD ME IT WAS THE TIPM . I UNDERSTAND THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THE RAM TRUCKS .
WITH THE COLD WEATHER, IT'S NOT CRANKING. I HAD A NEW BATTERY AND STARTER INSTALLED AND IT STILL DOESN'T CRANK UNLESS IT'S IN NEUTRAL AND I PRESS THE FUEL PEDDLE. IF IT SETS FOR TOO LONG IN COLD, I HAVE TO REPEAT THE PROCESS AND NO LONGER AM ABLE TO USE REMOTE START AND SOMETIMES HAVE TO BE JUMPED OFF.
EXHAUSTED MANIFOLD ON DRIVER SIDE MAKING LOUD NOISE, TOTALLY DEFECTIVE COMPONENT
I AM CURIOUS ABOUT RECALL U04. IT HAS TO DO WITH THE SLOT CORRODING THAT HOLDS THE FROM OF THE GAS TANK. MINE HAS CORRODED AND DROPPED THE GAS TANK, I CALLED CHRYSLER AND THEY SAID MY VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED. THE RECALL CLEARLY STATES IF THE VEHICLE WAS REGISTERED IN MARYLAND AT ANYTIME THAT THE RECALL APPLIES. THIS IS DEFINITELY THE PROBLEM WITH MY TRUCK AS THE SLOT HAS CORRODED AND THE STRAP CAME DOWN DROPPING MY TANK. I WOULD SOMEHOW LIKE TO GET MY TRUCK ON THE RECALL SINCE IT CLEARLY FITS THE RECALL DESCRIPTION. THE CHRYSLER RECALL REFERENCE IS U04. WHEN I PUT IN MY VIN THIS RECALL COMES UP BUT I WAS TOLD BY CHRYSLER RECALL SERVICE MY VIN IS NOT LISTED. THE NUMBER I CALLED WAS 1-800-853-1403. I WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AT 70MPH WHEN MY GAS TANK DROPPED. I BOUGHT MY VEHICLE AT...
THE FUEL PUMP RUNS CONTINUOUSLY WHILE THE VEHICLE IS TURNED OFF WITH NO KEY IN THE IGNITION. THIS CAUSES THE BATTERY TO DIE AND USUALLY LEAVES ME STRANDED. THERE IS ALSO AN ISSUE WITH THE TRACTION CONTROL. THIS FEATURE IS DESIGNED TO NOT LET THE VEHICLES REAR WHEELS SPIN OUT OF RATIO, WHICH BASICALLY STOPS THE REAR TIRES FROM SPINNING OUT. HOWEVER, IT SENDS FALSE SIGNALS THAT THEY ARE IT STALLS THE VEHICLE IN THE MIDDLE OF INTERSECTIONS. I HAVE ALMOST BEEN TBONED SEVERAL TIMES TO DUE THE TRUCK STALLING AND LEAVING ME A SITTING DUCK TO INCOMING TRAFFIC. LASTLY, THE AIR BAG WARNING LIGHT STAYS ON, LEAVING ME TO BELIEVE IT'S ALSO RECEIVING FALSE SIGNALS. HOPEFULLY THEY DO NOT DEPLOY WHILE I'M DRIVING. IF THEY DO AND I LIVE, I'LL BE BACK TO TELL YOU ABOUT IT. AFTER DOING A LOT OF RESEARCH, ALL OF THESE ISSUES SEEM TO...
WILL LOOKING UNDER THE BOTTOM OF MY TRUCK I NOTICED THE FUEL TANK SAGGING. FURTHER INSPECTION SHOWED THAT THE FRONT BRACKET THAT HOLDS THE FUEL TANK UP IS HANGING DOWN. THE T SLOT THAT HOLDS THE BRAVE IS RUSTED AND WILL NOT HOLD THE BRACKET IN. AFTER FURTHER INVESTIGATION FOUND U04 RECALL. CONTACTED DEALER AND WAS TOLD THAT THE TRUCK DOES NOT MEET THE RECALL. EVEN THOUGH IT IS A 2012 DODGE RAM 1500 BUILT AT THE SALTILLO PLANT IN MEXICO ON 9/10/2011 AND WAS REGISTERED AND DRIVEN IN WEST VIRGINIA (SALT BELT STATE).*DT*JB
Y'ALL MANIFOLDS ARE FAULTY. I JUST REPLACED MY MANIFOLD AND SCREW TWO YEARS AGO AND AGIN THE SAME ISSUE THIS COST 800-900 DOLLARS. THIS IS FAULTY ON MANUFACTURER PART.
WHILE DRIVING AT 30 TO 35 MPH, TRUCK LOSES POWER AND GOES TO IDLE FOR 5 TO 15 SECONDS THEN RESUMES POWER. VERY SCARY IN TRAFFIC.
EXISTING CASE #11308350 HISSING SOUND IN GAS TANK WHILE ON ROAD IN MOTION, ON A CITY STREET, AND A HIGHWAY AND TURNING AND STATIONARY, EVEN NOTICED IT WHEN TRUCK IS TURNED OFF AND SOUND WILL NOT TURN OFF, KILLED ONE BATTERY ALREADY, TRUCK DOES NOT SMELL LIKE GAS. MAYBE ELECTRICAL DEFINITELY SHOULD BE RECALLED SEEMS DANGEROUS. MAY ALSO ADD THAT DRIVER SEAT IS FLAT AND RIPPED DUE TO MANUFACTURE DEFECT LIKE MOST CARS AND TRUCKS, COMMON ISSUE SHOULD BE RECALLED THANK YOU
