THERE IS A ELECTRICAL MALFUNCTION IN THIS VEHICLE FUSES GO OUT EVERY COUPLE OF MONTHS, DUAL CONTROL HEAT RIGHT SIDE DOES NOT HEAT, ALSO WHEN DRIVING BURNING SMELL COMING OUT OF HEAT WENT, HAD SEVERAL PARTS REPLACED. I CONTACTED MANUFACTURER REGARDING THE ISSUES, THEIR REPLY WAS " WE ARE SORRY THAT YOU HAVE ISSUES BUT WE CANNOT HELP YOU", PURCHASED AFTER MARKET WARRANTY AND THEY REFUSE TO COVER THE HEAT ISSUE.
THE FAILURE THAT OCCURRED ON FEB 12,2016. PUT THE LIFE OF MY CHILD AND MYSELF IN EMINENT DANGER. WHILE TRAVELING 70 MPH IN THE HIGH SPEED LANE, WITH MODERATE TRAFFIC ON THE HIGHWAY, THE CAR SUDDEN SHUT OFF. THE DASHBOARD WENT BLACK, THE ENGINE STALLED AND THE CAR BECAME ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE TO DRIVE. NOT ONE INDICATOR LIGHT ON THE INSIDE OR THE OUTSIDE OF THE VEHICLE WORKED, I REACHED FOR HAZARD LIGHTS THAT DID NOT RESPOND, THE GAS PEDAL WAS UNRESPONSIVE. THE STEERING WAS SLOW AND HARD TO USE- POWER STEERING WAS NOT AVAILABLE. BRAKES SEEMED SLOW TO RESPOND. I KNOW FOR CERTAIN HAD I COLLIDED WITH ANY ITEM THE AIRBAGS WOULD ABSOLUTELY WITHOUT A DOUBT NOT DEPLOYED. FOR SEVERAL YEARS, THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN STALLING INTERMITTENTLY; AT TRAFFIC LIGHTS, WHEN SLOWING TO USE AN EXIT RAMP, WHEN TRYING TO PULL OVER FOR AN AMBULANCE, ETC... . ALSO IT INTERMITTENTLY INCREASES TO A HIGH RPM FOR ABOUT 10 SECONDS OR SO, THEN RETURNS TO NORMAL. THIS CAN OCCUR AT A CONSTANT SPEED ON A LEVEL ROAD. DEALER CAN NOT FIND THE ISSUE SINCE NO 'TROUBLE' LIGHT IS ON. I SEE WHAT SEEMS TO BE A SIMILAR ISSUE ON AN INTERNET SEARCH, BUT HAVE NOT FOUND ANY CAUSE. AFTER SEVERAL TRIPS AND SEVERAL HUNDRED DOLLARS PAID TO CHRYSLER DEALERS, NOTHING HAS BEEN FOUND AND NOTHING HAS BEEN SUGGESTED. THE STALLING IN TRAFFIC IS VERY TROUBLESOME AS IT MAY CAUSE INJURY TO MY FAMILY. FOR THIS REASON, THE RECOMMENDATION TO DRIVE IT TILL SOMETHING BREAKS IS NOT ACCEPTABLE AS IT MAY BE THE OCCUPANTS THAT 'BREAK'! THE LAST TIME IT...

ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS OVER THE PAST FEW YEARS MY 2009 DODGE JOURNEY WILL NOT START. THERE IS NO WARNING AND IT'S BECOME A GAMBLE TO DRIVE MY CAR AND RISK GETTING STRANDED SOMEWHERE. THE VEHICLE WILL JUST CLICK WHEN I TURN THE KEYFOB AND SOUNDS LIKE A DEAD BATTERY, BUT ALL LIGHTS, RADIO, WINDOWS ETC WORK FINE. I HAVE REPLACED THE BATTERY 3X AS SUGGESTED BY MY LOCAL DODGE DEALERSHIP BUT THEY FAIL TO IDENTIFY WHY THIS IS A RECURRING PROBLEM. I HAVE ALSO BEEN WAITING FOR ALMOST A YEAR FOR REPAIRS RELATED TO RECALLS THEY ARE UNABLE TO CORRECT SINCE THE PARTS ARE NOT AVAILABLE. MY VEHICLE ALSO HAS A HISTORY OF THE PANIC ALARM GOING OFF WHEN PUSHING THE UNLOCK BUTTON THE KEYFOB (I'VE MADE SURE THE PANIC WAS NOT HIT BY ACCIDENT - THIS IS NOT OPERATOR ERROR). AFTER SEVERAL TRYS, IT WILL START. ALSO, AIRBAG WARNING LIGHT CAME ON. TOOK BACK TO DEALER. DODGE DEALER HAD FOR A WEEK. FINALLY SAID ITS A FAULTY TIPM. SAW THERE IS A CLASS ACTION SUIT AND SEVERAL COMPLAINTS.
I WENT TO START MY VEHICLE AND IT FAILED TO START AGAIN, THE STARTER KEPT TRYING TO START BY CLICKING THE BATTERY TERMINAL THEN BEGAN SMOKING AND CAUSE THE CASING TO MELT, 3RD BATTERY IN 3 YEARS. I OWN THE VEHICLE IN QUESTION AND HAVE ON SEVERAL OCASIONS CONTACTED THE DEALERSHIP NEILSON DODGE IN EAST HANOVER, NJ WHERE I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE FROM TO FIX THE SYSTEMS INVOLVLED IN THIS RECALL, BUT TO NO AVAIL. THEY HAVE TOLD ME THEY DO NOT HAVE THE PARTS TO COMPLETE THE REPAIRS. MY CAR HAS FAILED TO START SEVERAL DIFFERENT TIMES AND HAS SHUT OFF WHILE I WAS DRIVING ONCE. THERE HAVE ALSO BEEN A FEW TIMES WHEN THE VEHICLE HAS STARTED, BUT NO ELECTRICAL SYSTEMS HAVE WORKED EXECPT FOR THE ENGINE. I DRIVE 60 MILES TO WORK PER DAY ON ROADS WITH SPEEDS OF 45-50 MPH WHICH CREATES A DANGEROUS SITUATION IF THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM WERE TO SHUT DOWN. I AM AT A LOSS AS TO HOW TO PROCEED AND HOW THAT NHTSA CAN BE OF ASSISTANCE TO ME.

MY CARS CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON, HAD IT HOOKED UP TO A FIND OUT WHAT THE CODE WAS. CAME BACK THE TIPM WAS DEFECTED. SINCE I PURCHASED THIS CAR BACK IN 2010 I HAVE HAD RECURRING PROBLEMS WITH THE CAR NOT STARTING AT WILL. I RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE FOR MY VEHICLE BACK IN 2013 OR 2014 REGARDING THE WIRELESS IGNITION NODE (WIN) MODULE. CHRYSLER RECALL NUMBER IS: L25 NHTSA RECALL NUMBER IS: 11V-139. RECALL DATE IS: MARCH 1, 2011. I HAVE HAD MY VEHICLE COMPLETELY SHUT OFF ON SEVERAL DIFFERENT OCCASIONS WHICH HAS ALMOST GOTTEN ME IN A WRECK. I HAVE BEEN FORTUNATE TO BE ABLE TO GET OUT OF THE WAY OF TRAFFIC BUT THE LAST TWO TIMES THIS HAS HAPPENED I WAS BARELY ABLE TO AVOID AN ACCIDENT. ONE TIME I WAS DRIVING ON A TOLL ROAD IN AUSTIN, TEXAS AND GOING OVER A BRIDGE AND HAD TO PULL AS CLOSE TO THE CENTER CEMENT WALL AS POSSIBLE AND RESTART MY VEHICLE AND HURRY TO GET OUT OF TRAFFIC BEFORE I WAS HIT. THIS LAST TIME THAT IT HAPPENED I WAS DRIVING ON MY WAY TO WORK ON AGAIN A BUSY...
I'VE ALREADY COMPLAINED ABOUT THIS ISSUE AT LEAST 3 TIMES. WHEN TRYING TO START THE CAR IT WILL NOT START. NOTHING HAPPENS. THE ONLY WAYS TO GET THE CAR STARTED AT THAT POINT IS: MOVING THE BATTERY AROUND, REMOVING AND PUTTING THE BATTERY CABLES ON THE BATTERY (TO RESET IT), AND PUT THE CAR IN NEUTRAL AND TURN THE KEY. IF THE BATTERY IS DISCONNECTED AND THEN RECONNECTED THE RADIO AND DISPLAY WILL THEN WORK. THIS HAPPENS FREQUENTLY DEPENDING ON HOW MANY TIME THE VEHICLE IS STARTED AND STOPPED.MY MECHANIC HAS TRACED IT TO THE TIPM ,TOTALLY INTEGRATED POWER MODULE. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER, AND THE THROTTLE BODY WAS REPLACED; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED MORE THAN TEN TIMES. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WILL NOT START INTERMITTENTLY. AFTER SEVERAL COSTLY REPAIRS THE ISSUE PERSISTS AND THE DEALER AND MANUFACTURER DENY KNOWLEDGE OF THE PROBLEM OR REPORT THAT THEY CANNOT DUPLICATE IT. THIS SEEMS DISINGENUOUS SINCE ALL CAR SITES I EVALUATED PRIOR TO THIS COMPLAINT LIST THIS SAME ISSUE IN ABUNDANCE. VEHICLE WILL STALL WITHOUT WARNING FOR NO APPARENT REASON AT ANY SPEED. ON OCT 3, 2014 I WAS TAKING MY CHILD TO SCHOOL WHEN THE CAR STALLED IN AN INTERSECTION. AFTER THE LIGHT TURNED GREEN I PROCEEDED TO THE INTERSECTION AND STALLED UPON ENTERING THE INTERSECTION. I WAS ABLE TO PUT THE CAR IN NEUTRAL AND RESTART WITHIN ~10 SECONDS. THIS ISSUE REPEATED ITSELF AT LEAST TWICE WHILE EN ROUTE FROM MY HOME TO A NEARBY SERVICE SHOP (FOLTZ AUTO) WHICH DETERMINED THERE WAS NO ISSUE THE BATTERY OR IGNITION. ON 10/5/14 I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO HERITAGE CHRYSLER (21234) AND HAD THE CAR SERVICED FOR TWO REASONS: THE MAIN REASON WAS THE ABOVE ISSUE AND A SECONDARY ISSUE WAS THE MAIN ODOMETER (NOT THE TRIP ODOMETER) AT SOME POINT HAD RESET ITSELF LEAVING A DISPLAY OF AN INCORRECT MILEAGE MUCH LOWER THAN THE ACTUAL MILEAGE. THE DEALER COULD NOT...
I'M WRITING TO COMPLAIN THAT MY 2009 DODGE JOURNEY HAS BEEN ISSUED A RECALL FOR THE IGNITION SWITCH.THE VEHICLE WILL SHUT DOWN COMPLETELY. DESPITE THE FACT THIS REPRESENTS A SIGNIFICANT SAFETY HAZARD AND THIS RECALL WAS INITIATED ALMOST 7 MONTHS AGO, CHRYSLER STILL DOES NOT HAVE THE NECESSARY PARTS TO MAKE THE REPAIR. I HAVE CONTACTED THEM ON A NUMBER OF OCCASIONS AND THEY HAVE NO SOLUTION OR CAN OFFER AN ALTERNATIVE TO DRIVING THIS DANGEROUS VEHICLE. WE DON'T HAVE THE OPTION TO STOP USING THE JOURNEY. TRIED TO START CAR JUST CLICKS WON'T TURN OVER. LIGHTS, RADIO EVERYTHING TURNS ON. THIS HAS HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES. SOMETIMES IF YOU WAIT IT WILL START, SOMETIMES IF YOU MOVE THE GEAR SHIFTER AROUND IT WILL START. SOMETIMES MY BATTERY LIGHT COMES ON THEN TURNS OFF AFTER STARTING AGAIN. SAME FOR MY OTHER INDICATOR LIGHTS. ALSO MY BACK SEAT DOORS WILL LOCK FROM THE OUTSIDE AND YOU CANT GET THEM TO UNLOCK WITH THE BUTTONS OR THE KEY FOB. ONLY BY CLIMBING IN THE BACKSEAT TO UNLOCK THEM. STARTING PROBLEMS SEEM WORSE AFTER CAR SITS FOR LONGER PERIOD OR DURING COLDER WEATHER. THIS IS A VERY COMMON PROBLEM WITH THESE VEHICLES. *TR

ROTORS AND BRAKES WENT OUT AT 36,000 AND HAD TO BE REPLACED DUE TO BEING TOO SMALL FOR THE VEHICLE. OF COURSE THIS WAS JUST OUT SIDE OF WARRANTY. RECALL WAS CALLED AFTER WE REPLACED THEM. WENT OUT AGAIN AT 45,000 AND AGAIN AT 85,000. I HAD A KNOCKING NOISE FROM UNDER NEATH AND TOOK IT IN AND IT WAS COVERED UNDER POWER TRAIN. HAD TO TAKE IT IN AGAIN AT 40,000 KNOCKING NOISE AGAIN AND LUCKILY IT COVERED UNDER POWER TRAIN. AT 45,000 MY JOURNEY WOULDN'T START AND JUST DIDN'T KNOW WHEN IT WOULD START 30 MINUTES TO AN HOUR. THIS HAS HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES AND WAS TOLD IT WAS THE KEY IGNITION CONTROL AND THAT THEY ARE BACK LOGGED AND COULDN'T REPLACE IT BUT CHARGED $100 FOR DIAGNOSTIC AGAIN AND HAVE HAD TO TAKE IT IN AGAIN SINCE. AT 75,000 I WAS LEFT STRANDED DUE TO OVER HEATING...
