1999 DODGE DURANGO SLT 4X4 5.2 L. VEHICLE SUDDENLY STALLS. THIS HAS HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES AND AT NO TIME OF THE STALLS WAS MY FAMILY SAFE. NO INDICATION OR WARNING SIGNS. CHRYSLER CORPORATION CANNOT OR WILL NOT PROPERLY TROUBLESHOOT THE PROBLEM, EACH PART THEY REPLACE I AM PAYING FOR AND ITS NOT THE ISSUE BUT THEY DO NOT REFUND MY MONEY, IT TIME FOR THE FEDS TO GOVERN AUTO REPAIR DEALERSHIPS. MY VEHICLE WILL NO LONGER START AND IS USELESS. I AM INFORMING AS MANY PEOPLE AS I CAN ABOUT THIS SAFETY ISSUE THAT CHRYSLER IS HAVING AND REFUSES TO ACKNOWLEDGE RESPONSIBILITY. TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 1999 DODGE DURANGO. WHILE DRIVING 50 MPH, THE ABS AND BRAKE LIGHTS ILLUMINATED. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE CONTROL MODULE FAILED AND THEY REPLACED IT ON TWO OCCASIONS. APPROXIMATELY SIX MONTHS LATER, THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ILLUMINATED AND THE DEALER STATED THAT THE TRANSMISSION OUTPUT SENSOR FAILED. THEY MADE THE REPLACEMENT. APPROXIMATELY ONE YEAR LATER, THE REVERSE LIGHT AND REAR POWER WINDOWS WERE INOPERATIVE. THE DEALER INSTALLED A NEUTRAL SAFETY SWITCH. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 30,840 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 72,000. SO FAR WE HAVE REPLACED THE CRANK SENSOR, THE ENGINE AUTO-SHUTDOWN RELAY AND THE FRONT OXYGEN SENSOR WITH OUT ANY SUCCESS. CAR STALLS. MY CAR STALLS WHILE I AM DRIVING OR AT A STOP LIGHT, JUST IDLING. IT HAS STALLED ON THE FREEWAY, WHICH IS VERY DANGEROUS. I PURCHASED A 1999 DURANGO IN JAN OF 2000. I HAVE HAD NUMEROUS PROBLEMS INCLUDING REBUILDING THE TRANSMISSION. MY BIGGEST COMPLAINT IS THE ENGINE SLUDGE AND SPARK KNOCK. I HAVE HAD THE OIL PUMP AND SCREEN REPLACED TWICE AS WELL AS THE UPPER INTAKE GASKETS. IT IS MY UNDERSTANDING THAT THE UPPER INTAKE GASKETS LEAK INTERNALLY CAUSING OIL CONSUMPTION, SPARK KNOCK, AND EVENTUALLY OIL SLUDGE AND ENGINE FAILURE. THE MECHANIC REPLACED THE INTAKE MANIFOLD. THE UPPER PLENUM AND THROTTLE BODY WAS REMOVED TO DETERMINE THE LEAK SITE. THE GASKET THAT WAS SUPPOSED TO SEAL THE INTAKE OF THE ENGINE BLOCK HAD APPARENTLY NOT ADHERED TO THE BOTTOM ON THE INTAKE AND ALONG THE ENGINE. THE MECHANIC NOTED THAT CHRYSLER MADE SOME DESIGN CORRECTIONS, BUT THE CYLINDER HEADS WILL COLLECT AND BLOW OVER INTO THE ENGINE, AND EVENTUALLY WILL BE EXPELLED FROM THE VEHICLE ON THE GROUND OR BURNED OUT. IT COULD COLLECT EIGHT TO TEN QUARTS...
