THE BACK WINDOW IS FALLING AWAY FROM THE CONVERTIBLE TOP. THE ADHESIVE IS NOT HOLDING THE BACK WINDOW IN PLACE. *TT
THE REAR WINDOW CAME UNGLUED FROM THE CONVERTIBLE TOP WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY. IF THE DEFROSTER CABLE HAD NOT HELD THE WINDOW WOULD HAVE FLOWN OUT, AND COULD HAVE SERIOUSLY HARMED OTHER MOTORISTS. CHRYSLER KNOWS OF THIS ISSUE AND HAS ISSUED TSB 23-035-11 WHICH ACKNOWLEDGES THE DEFECT AND WILL REPAIR IT, BUT ONLY FOR CARS SENT TO CERTAIN DEALERSHIPS. THIS SHOULD BE FIXED ON ALL 2005 CROSSFIRES. THE VEHICLE IS NOW UNDRIVEABLE AND HAS TO HAVE THE ENTIRE TOP REPLACED. *TR
THE 2005 (ONLY) CROSSFIRE CONVERTIBLE HAS A FAULTY SEAL BONDING THE BACKGLASS TO THE TOP CAUSING IT TO BECOME DISLODGED FROM THE TOP TRAVELING OR PARKED. CHRYSLER IS AWARE OF THE DEFECT CALLING IT A "TRIM" PIECE. A VEHICLE TRAVELING ON THE EXPRESSWAY OR HIGHWAY LOSING ITS' BACKGLASS IS NOT A TRIM BUT A DANGEROUS DEFECT THAT MUST BE RECALLED. MODELS AFTER 2005 HAD THIS DEFECT CORRECTED. *TR
THE REAR WINDOW IN MY 2005 CHRYSLER CROSSFIRE ROADSTER BECAME UNGLUED AND WILL NOT STAY IN PLACE; THIS MAKES THE CAR UNSAFE TO DRIVE, AS THE WINDOW MAY COME OUT AT ANY TIME, STRING SOMEONE OR CAUSING AN ACCIDENT. THIS CAR WAS PURCHASED IN NOV 2008 WITH ONLY 16,800 MILES ON IT, AND HAS BEEN GARAGE KEPT SINCE. THIS IS A KNOWN MANUFACTURING DEFECT, HAVING AFFECTED DOZENS OF THESE CARS, AS WELL AS OTHER CHRYSLER CONVERTIBLES PRODUCED DURING THAT TIME. CHRYSLER HAS ACKNOWLEDGED THE ISSUE, BUT WILL ONLY REPAIR VEHICLES DELIVERED TO SPECIFIC SOUTHERN STATES, NO MATTER WHERE YOU LIVE, BOUGHT THE CAR, ETC. *TR
DRIVING APPOX. 35 MPH WHEN I STARTED TO HEAR A KNOCKING NOISE FROM THE REAR. LOOKED BACK TO SEE REAR GLASS ON CONVERTIBLE TOP HAD BECOME DETACHED ON THE BOTTOM OF GLASS. HAD TO WEDGE A PART IN BETWEEN GLASS AND BODY TO HOLD GLASS IN PLACE. NOW NOT DRIVING THE CAR BECAUSE OF THE SAFETY CONCERN AND THE $2100 QUOTED TO FIX IT. CAN'T AFFORD AT THIS TIME. *TR
PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE IN APRIL OF THIS YEAR, FROM A CHRYSLER DEALER. IT CAME WITH A PLASTIC WINDOW, WHICH I FOUND OUT, IS NOT FACTORY/STANDARD. THE DEALER REFUSED TO TAKE CARE OF IT. FOUND OUT ABOUT THE X31 AND SB-23035-11REVA BULLETIN, CONTACTED CHRYSLER ABOUT IT, GOT TURNED DOWN BECAUSE WE ARE THE 4TH OWNERS OF THE CAR, AND IT WAS 3,000 OVER THE 100K MILE LIMIT. I WROTE SERGIO MARCHIONNE, THE CEO OF CHRYSLER, GOT A REVIEW, BUT WAS TURNED DOWN AGAIN. TOLD THAT IT "WOULD NOT MAKE GOOD BUSINESS SENSE" TO FIX MY CAR! WHAT!!? THE PROBLEM IS WIDESPREAD, AND SINCE CHRYSLER HAS OWNED UP, THEY SHOULD CONTINUE TO BE A GOOD MANUFACTURER, AND TAKE CARE OF THEIR CUSTOMERS, ORIGINAL OR NOT. THE CONDITION IS DANGEROUS. *TR
REAR WINDOW IN ROADSTER (CONVERTIBLE) TOP IS BECOMING UNGLUED / DELAMINATED FROM THE FABRIC TOP. IF IT COMES COMPLETELY UNGLUED AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS IT COULD BE QUITE DANGEROUS. *TR
THE REAR WINDOW GLASS ON THE ROADSTER SEPARATES RAPIDLY FROM THE ROOF LINING AND IF NOT CAUGHT IN TIME WILL COMPLETELY DETACH AND BECOME A PROJECTILE TO THE INTERNAL OCCUPANTS OR TO OTHER ROAD USERS. CHRYSLER HAVE INDICATED ON THEIR X31 RECALL FOR THE PROBLEM THE EXPECTATION THAT CERTAIN VEHICLES ARE WARRANTED FOR 10 YEARS/100,000 MILES DUE TO A MANUFACTURING DEFECT, BUT ONLY FOR VEHICLES SHIPPED TO SOME 8 SOUTHERN STATES. THEIR CONTENTION IS THAT OTHER VEHICLES ARE NOT AFFECTED BUT THIS IS AT ODDS WITH THE EXPERIENCES OF MYSELF AND MANY OTHERS. *TR

THE REAR WINDOW HAS SEPARATED FROM THE CANVAS TOP AND MAY FALL OUT WHILE DRIVING. THIS WILL BE A SERIOUS AND COSTLY SAFETY ISSUE. *TR
THE REAR GLASS WINDOW IS COMING LOOSE AND SEPARATING/DELAMINATING FROM THE FABRIC CONVERTIBLE TOP. IT SEEMS THE GLUE/BOND IS FAILING AND I AM VERY CONCERNED THAT THE WINDOW WILL COMPLETELY BECOME DETACHED AND CAUSE AN ACCIDENT WHILE DRIVING. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 CHRYSLER CROSSFIRE ROADSTER. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 70 MPH, THE REAR GLASS WINDOW PARTIALLY DETACHED FROM THE SOFT TOP CONVERTIBLE ROOF WITHOUT WARNING. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO DRIVE TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD WHERE THE WINDOW GLASS WAS REMOVED IN ORDER TO RESUME OPERATION. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHO ADVISED THE CONVERTIBLE SOFT TOP WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER ISSUED A VOLUNTARY RECALL PERTAINING TO THE REPLACEMENT OF THE CONVERTIBLE SOFT TOP HOWEVER, THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 42,000.

THE TOP FABRIC APPEARS TO BE SHRINKING AND PULLED AWAY MAKING THE WINDOW TO COME APART FROM THE CONVERTIBLE TOP. THIS IS NOT ONLY A HAZARD TO DRIVERS & PASSENGERS BUT ALSO TO ONCOMING VEHICLES OR VEHICLES FOLLOWING IF THIS SHOULD COME OUT COMPLETELY WHILE DRIVING AT NORMAL SPEED LIMITS. I AM HOPING CHRYSLER- DAIMLER CORPORATION WILL HAVE IT AS A RECALL SINCE THERE HAVE BEEN MANY MANY MANY CHRYSLER CUSTOMERS ON RECORD WITH THE SAME PROBLEM. THE SAFETY ASPECT OF THIS PROBLEM RELATES TO WHEN FINALLY DETACHING COMPLETELY AND FALLING INSIDE THE VEHICLE, THE DRIVER DISTRACTION COULD EASILY CAUSE A VEHICLE ACCIDENT. IF FALLING OUTSIDE THE VEHICLE, RESULTING AVOIDANCE MANUVERS BY DRIVERS OF FOLLOWING VEHICLES COULD LEAD TO VEHICLE ACCIDENTS. MY LOCAL CHRYSLER DEALER HAS REFUSED TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM ON MY FAST-DETACHING REAR WINDOW, AND HAS INSTEAD DIRECTED ME TO A CORVETTE REPAIR FACILITY WHERE THE REPAIR WOULD BE ACCOMPLISHED AT MY EXPENSE. THE REAR WINDOW PROBLEM HAS BEEN WELL DOCUMENTED ON A CHRYSLER CROSSFIRE INTERNET FORUM WHERE MEMBERS DESCRIBE VARIOUS HOME FIXES ATTEMPTED, NONE WITH PERMANENT RESULTS. AUG 23, 2010 I NOTICE THE GLUE SEAL AROUND THE REAR GLASS DRIED UP, WHICH CAUSED THE REAR GLASS TO FALL OUT AND POTENTIAL CAUSE SEVER PROBLEMS FOR THE DRIVER IF NOT CAUGHT IN TIME. THIS IS A KNOWN MANUFACTURES DEFECT, HOWEVER, CHRYSLER WILL NOT OWN UP TO THIS PROBLEM. MY TOP IS LIKE NEW AND IT IS CLEAR TO ME AND OTHERS THIS IS A MFG DEFECT IN THE ADHESIVE.
