I had to replace my 2019 traverse transmission around 105,000 miles but had a shuddering when slowly accelerating or driving since around 70,000 miles. Possibly a programming issue with the transmission control module?? Because after replacing transmission the shuddering still happened and I had to reprogram the transmission control module again and then the shuddering is 95% gone. Also , shift to park alert is a big issue too. If you put the car in park sometimes you have to maneuver the shift knob and tap it to make the “park to shift” go away so I can lock my car.

Transmission went out does not move at all with only 49,000 miles on the car the car always had sifting problems. Brought the car brand new off the lot. One owner. Before the Transmission went out when I will stop at the red lights or stop signs the car would just take off for no reason. With my foot still on the brakes or the car would just stall when I am driving it right in the middle of traffic. GMC needs to held accountable before some one gets killed.😤😡🤬

After fueling car the starting continue turning over after you release button. Now while drivering it hesitate sometime loose power steering. And when stopped and the car dies when it does it’s stop /start now there a delay in continuing on and now brake light come on when it start back. Sometimes lose power and if you disconnect cable to let car reset light goes off until the start/stop and repeats process with park light back on ect.

Shift to park notice. For several months the shifter has had issues going into park. The shifter is in the park position but isnt reading. I know a few other people with similar Traverse models in my area having the same issue. Im also aware that some models of GM SUV have already recalled this part. After having to wait over 5 minutes multiple times for the car to recognize that its in the park position I decided to get this replaced. This is an issue I believe a recall should be noticed and I should be reimbursed for the parts and labor of this

Shift to park error, car will not go into park. A well known GM issue that apparently has yet to be recalled.

I have been experiencing an intermittent issue where the vehicle displays a “Shift to Park” message, even though the gear shift lever is clearly in the Park position. When this happens, the vehicle will not fully shut off, and I have to repeatedly move the shifter back and forth or restart the vehicle to clear the message. This issue began around January 2024, and it has become more frequent over time. I understand that this is a known defect in GM vehicles, and that GM issued Technical Service Bulletin #19-NA-206 to address it. According to the TSB and owner reports, this problem is caused by a faulty park switch or microswitch inside the shifter assembly, and the solution involves installing a jumper harness and/or replacing the shift control assembly. This is both a functional and safety concern, as the vehicle may not recognize it's in Park and could potentially result...

Shift to park and warming beep saying vehicle not in park also a bad smell coming from vents when start the engine makes me dizzy and also paid over $600 for repairs to AC still not fix Freon leaks .

On [XXX], my 2019 Chevrolet Traverse (VIN [XXX] ) experienced a complete transmission failure. The vehicle began to hesitate, jerk during acceleration, and then completely lost the ability to shift or drive. It had to be towed, and the dealership confirmed that the transmission must be replaced. This is extremely concerning because GM previously issued Recall 20V668000 involving missing bolts in the start-stop accumulator of the transmission, which can cause fluid leaks and loss of propulsion—a potential safety hazard. Although my VIN does not show this recall as active, the symptoms and failure seem directly related to this known defect. I am requesting NHTSA investigate whether this recall should be expanded or reopened to include more affected vehicles. In addition to the transmission failure, I have had to replace the purge solenoid valve three times due to persistent check engine lights and fuel system issues, which suggests deeper reliability issues...

My shift to park didn’t stop alarming and drained my battery so badly that I was stranded for 4.5hrs and I had to replace it and the alternator!
#11668923 |
Upon shifting to park, an error message prompts us to "shift to park". The shifter is in park position, however the vehicle says it is not. The Chevy dealer recreated the issue and advised to repair because it will lead to not being able to turn off the engine, or not being able to start the engine, or it will drain the battery. Any of the above could lead to a safety issue depending on where the failure could occur. I had the veicle repaired at the expense of $501.29.

The contact owns a 2019 Chevrolet Traverse. The contact stated that while his wife was attempting to turn off the vehicle, the vehicle failed to turn off. The message "Shift to Park" was displayed on the screen. The vehicle was left running for thirty minutes before the contact's wife was able to turn off the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to the dealer but was not diagnosed or repaired. The contact stated that the failure persisted. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 65,000.

When placing the Traverse in park the car will not shut off and warns that the car is NOT in park while other indicators show that it actually is in park. Confusing and worried that it is not in park and that the car con not be safely shut off. Flipping the shift knob and button numerous times has, so far, finally allowed the car to shut off safely.

This vehicle reports a "Shift to Park" error message when parking the car. The gearshift is in the parked position but the sensor if not responding correctly. The alarm continues to buzz and we are unable to turn the car off and exit the vehicle. We must continue to "wiggle" the gear shift and even drive around the block and try to park again to have this message stop. Very afraid that the car is not recognizing the "parked" position and will move even though we think it is parked. We understand that this has been an issue with Chevrolet since 2017 and no recall has been issued. PLEASE help.

Received a warning on my dashboard when trying to turn off vehicle that vehicle was not in park. The vehicle however was in park. Vehicle would not turn completely off. Had to keep turning vehicle on and messing with shifting, turning it back off until it finally recognize it was in park. Have not taken it to a shop yet.

Car showing that car is not in park and constantly kills battery. Shift to park warning, antilock brake warning, parking brake warning, and forward collision warning continue to come on. Dealer says now partially covered under extended warranty after deductible, but battery needs replacement for $375.

Car is constantly getting the shirt to park error message when the car is in park. The car’s lights and other electrical panels on the inside will not shut off because of this issue.

Veh continues to display service stabilitrak when coming out of auto stop at a light or stop. Service restraint likely keeps coming on unable to buckle seat belts sometime seat get stuck when moving forward or backwards on driver side Shift to park light keeps coming on Service parking break is coming in as well for no apparent reason
#11641457 |
The transmission keeps stalling when the auto engine turn off comes on and I try to hit the gas. The transmission end cap had to be replaced. Then the shift to break kept going off when I was in park.
#11640084 |
Frequently receive warning message “Shift to Park” while the car is already at a complete parked state. You have to engage brake and wiggle the shifter to allow car to shut off. Another issue, the car display comes on and the car alarm beeps regarding the Stabilitrak. This happens on colder days usually below 40 degrees. Dealership wants $200+ to evaluate but states common concern they receive.

When I push the button to turn off vehicle it dings and says shift to park. I cannot stop it from doing it. One day my vehicle did it for 45 minutes. I could not do anything lock my door anything this is a hazard what if I was out of town and someone tried to steal my car because it would not stop doing this. I see on social media this is happening to a lot of 2019 chevy traverse owners.

Once shifting the car in park the car won’t shut off. It keeps stating “Shift to Park” the car has already been shifted to park. I have to shift my car over and over again to get it to cut off. Also when driving it keeps stating something about the track system.

I took my truck to the dealer back in 2022 for the specific reasons that the truck is being recalled now but my vehicle doesn’t qualify for the recalls. My vehicle has been having the same issues as the 2019 Chevy traverse recalls and I just saw that my truck is also leaking transmission oil which is linked to the 2019 recall but my truck doesn’t qualify. It started smelling like it was burning during the freeway drive today and when I got home, I noticed the oil leak I drive around 15 to 20 miles a day driving six children in my truck for safety and my truck is no longer safe to drive. I want to know why when I took my car in 2022 for the specific issues. They told me that it was pretty much all in my head that my truck was running fine and...

Shift to park message will not go away.
#11621680 |
The shift to park constantly appears when you go to park the vehicle only to be resolved with shaking the stick and clicking the button to get it to park fully. Additionally this car has had to have the alternator replaced after only 4 years of having it which I find to be ridiculous and have heard many other customers have had the same issue of it failing early on I think there must be something deeper to that.
#11620173 |
When shifting into park I get a message on my dash to shift into park and the car will not shutoff. I have to jiggle the shifter knob a few times for it to shutoff again and again. It's a real problem and should have a recall on it.
#11616965 |
When putting car in park, it continues to show a shift to park error message and will not power down all the way. I have to restart the car and shift in and out of park several times before the car will shut off. Often times when stopping at lights/stop signs the car will shift super hard and jerk into gear when trying to start moving again. This occasionally happens when it should be shifting going up hills as well.

Check engine light keeps coming on for a small evap leak. When putting car in Park and turning car off, warning message comes up saying Shift to Park so I have to wiggle the shifter until the message goes away. Tailgate some times does not close when pushing the tailgate button. Remote start does not always work.

Vehicle automated message stating to shift to park. While the vehicle is in park the message does not go away, Trouble exiting the vehicle due to the shift to park problem.
#11605762 |
After putting the vehicle in park a error message appears indicating vehicle is not in park and the gear shift must be wiggled back and forth to remove the message.
#11592764 |
When car is shifted into park and then push to start/stop is pressed to turn off car “ shift to park” appears and shift must be wiggled for message to go away. Problem has just started in the last month (May 2024).

When in park, "Shift to Park" continues to alert causing trouble turning off the engine. I've read this is common among the 2019 Traverse and many have been recalled, but my specific VIN has not. Can you help so I can get this fixed?
#11587795 |
My car stalled on a four lane highway due to the alternator dying. I was able to pull over but was almost rear ended. I only had 40,000 miles on car at the time. I replaced the alternator with a factory direct from Chevy on 3/16/2022. On May 5, 2024, my car again stalled out due to alternator. At that time I was on another busy highway but had enough time to pull over. I had to have someone pick up my children and follow me home. I was terrified it would stall again and I would cause an accident.

Dashboard alerts “Shift to Park” after the car is turned off. Car is in park. Contacted dealer and it $480.00 to repair and apparently not covered by the GM Bumper to Bumper extended warranty protection plan. A recall was issued for the same issue on the 2018 traverse but not issued for the 2019. This is ridiculous and GM needs to issue a recall for this issue for the 2019 model.

I keep getting a shift to park, even though I am in park.I’m not able to turn off my car. I have read this a big issue with 2019 Traverse, why is there no recall showing as it can mess up the transmission?

My car is displaying the “shift to park” message in the dashboard.
#11570856 |
There is a recall on other 2019 traverse, but not mine, for the message shift to park. This is what my car is doing now. It will not shut the car off and it has a potential to roll while in park because the car reads that it is not in park. I'm not sure why my car is not included. It is doing the exact same thing as what has been recalled on other 2019 Chevy traverse. I was told by dealership not to drive it because it could roll while in park. It has something to do with the brake switch. The contact is hoping to get her vehicle covered under the recall.

The vehicle is equipped with auto stop technology that the driver can’t disable. While driving, the system is designed to initiate auto stop when vehicle comes to a stop. When my foot lifts off the brake to proceed, the engine kicks back in and vehicle moves forward. Two weeks ago at a stop, the engine did not kick back in. I had to put the car in park at the light and after several attempts to push the ignition button, the engine finally kicked back on. The vehicle had the same issue later that day so I scheduled with the dealer for 4 days out. No warning lights came on. My onstar app did not produce any error notice. Meanwhile, I saw a video to override auto stop, put vehicle in low gear 6. That’s what I did to get through to appointment. By day 3 (dealer is day 4),...

When shifting into park, the vehicle does not recognize the shifter has been moved to the "park" setting. An alert will sound stating the vehicle must be shifted into park position. We then have to shift out of park and back into park...sometimes multiple times, before the vehicle recognizes that the shifter is in the Park position.
#11564127 |
Has “Shift to Park” issue and will keep electronics on, killing the battery. Other vehicles were recalled but this is an excluded one. Was rear ended enough to get a salvage title but I was told a salvage title doesn’t affect safety recalls. Bought with less than 2k miles and have 22k miles on the vehicle now so there hasn’t been excessive use. Has done it several times now.

I shifted to park and turned the engine off. The engine turned off, but began beeping and the message board said SHIFT TO PARK. I started the engine again and shifted in and out of park and turned off engine. The same beeping and the same error message. I tried several times, with the same results. The car would not lock, and the beeping would not stop. I left the car for 20 minutes and then started it again and turned it off. At that time it stopped beeping and there was no error message. I had several errands to run on that day, and each time I got the error message with the beeping, and could not lock the car. This is a safety issue because at each stop I had to leave the car unlocked. I am a [XXX] widow and was traveling alone. Also, I worried that...

The contact owns a 2019 Chevrolet Traverse. The contact stated after driving and arriving at his destination, the vehicle was parked and turned off however, console lights and radio remained functioning. The contact stated that the vehicle was turned off and the vehicle jerked forward. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired by an independent mechanic or dealer. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and a case was filed. The failure mileage was approximately 50,000.

Our Traverse shows a message “shift to park”. This happens after we have already shifted in park. This causes a continuous ding until we are able to trick the vehicle into park. The after concern is we leave the vehicle because we can’t get it to shift to park and it rolls damaging property or another person. This problem has left us stranded because we can not shift it.
#11549332 |
“shift to park” alert on the dash constantly comes on when you are actually parked. You then must re-start the car and put it into park again. You must do this up to TEN times to park without this signal going on. Within the last week, this has happened each and every time I have had my vehicle out. Over the last few months it has happened intermittently. Dealer says they are seeing a lot of this on my make and model when I took my car in this morning. This seems to be a VERY common problem in internet forums as to my make and model. THIS SHOULD BE A CLEAR RECALL. I can attach the invoice once the repairs are made today.

VEHICLE WIL NOT SHIFT TO PARK AND WILL NOT SHUT DOWN
#11546073 |
Listed on a Chevy website as a recall for 2018-2019 Traverse “shift to park”. It isn’t listed on your website or with the dealership. Over 170 complaints for the car not recognizing that you put it in park, which can drain the battery or worse cause your vehicle to move when it shouldn’t. I just paid $100 (luckily I had coverage), but this should be recalled. Dealership stated the part was on back order, which means a lot of people are having the same issue. This should be recalled and money refunded to customers.
#11540294 |
After one shifts the car in park and stops engine, a display warning and beeping sound starts stating "shift to park". Even though car is already in park. The beeping sound and message does not go away or quits. One cannot exit vehicle. Incorrect error and display messages and audio warnings are misleading and can lead to unknown safety concerns... The problem is repeatable and is occuring more frequently. The only way we have been able to "leave/stop" the car, is to repeatedly start car, shift into gear, shift into park and stop car engine. After 4 or 5 times, the car finally stops with no incorrect safety warning and beeping, and we can exit the car. Sometimes we have to drive a short distance to clear up this safety concern/issue.
