MY ENGINE POWER REDUCED LIGHT KEEPS COMING ON AND THE POWER IS SIGNIFICANTLY AFFECTED. I CAN SET MY CRUISE AND THEN WITHOUT WARNING THE LIGHT COMES ON, CRUISE STOPS WORKING AND CAR SLOWS DOWN. I WAS DRIVING ABOUT 35 MPH THE ENTIRE CAR SYSTEM SHUT OFF , NO WARNING LIGHTS CAME, I ROLLED INTO A DIRT PARKING LOT, AND TURNED THE KEY OFF, SAT THERE FOR A LITTLE WHILE THEN CONTINUE TO WORK, HAD TO TAKE ALTERNATE ROUTE, DIDN'T KNOW WHEN OR IF IT WOULD HAPPEN AGAIN. I HAVE A 2008 CHEVROLET IMPALA LTZ. I HAVE HAD SEVERAL OCCASIONS NOW WHEN MY CAR HAS STARTED FLASHING "SERVICE STABILITRAK" "ENGINE POWER REDUCED" "SERVICE AIRBAGS" AND THEN ALL THE CORRESPONDING LIGHTS COME ON. ONE OF THE TIMES THE VEHICLE FLASHED ALL OF THOSE WARNINGS, THE LIGHTS CAME ON AND THE CAR DIED, WHILE I WAS DRIVING. IT LOST ALL POWER AND IT TOOK EVERYTHING I HAD TO STEER THE VEHICLE OFF THE ROAD. I HAD MY [XXX] YEAR OLD WITH ME THAT TIME AND WAS SCARED I WAS NOT GOING TO BE ABLE TO GET US TO A SAFE SPOT TO SIT AND WAIT FOR HELP. IN JUNE 2012 I HAD THIS PROBLEM ERROR MESSAGE READ: "ENGINE POWER REDUCED " AS I WAS DRIVING 55 MPH ON HIGHWAY MPH FELL BELOW TO 40 I HAD TO GET OFF HIGHWAY. I HAD THIS PROBLEM FIXED SO I THOUGHT IT COST ME ABOUT 360 DOLLARS. SAME EXACT RECURRING PROBLEM SAME ERROR MESSAGE TODAY 12/09/13. THIS IS RIDICULOUS GM HAS TO KNOW THIS IS NOT SAFE. I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD AND THE POWER REDUCED, ITS SAYS REDUCED POWER IN ENGINE.
I WAS DRIVING ABOUT 50 MILES AN HOUR AND "SERVICE TRACTION CONTROL" AND "REDUCED ENGINE POWER" LIGHTS CAME ON. I SLOWED DOWN TO 40 AND WAS TRYING TO MERGE INTO TRAFFIC AND THE CAR DOWNSHIFTED REALLY HARD AND DIED. RIGHT AS IT DIED ANOTHER LIGHT CAME ON, SOMETHING ABOUT THE THROTTLE. I WAS ON A 4 LANE BRIDGE DURING RUSH HOUR. HAD THE CAR TOWED TO THE LOCAL CHEVY DEALER. WHEN THEY GOT IT, IT STARTED RIGHT UP, BUT THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WAS ON. THEY HAD THE CAR FOR 3 DAYS AND COULD FIND NOTHING WRONG WITH IT. SINCE THEN IT HAS HAPPENED 5 MORE TIMES. *TR
YESTERDAY ON MY WAY HOME FROM WORK .. I EXIT OFF OF 55 ONTO 1ST AVENUE. GOT TO ODGEN AVENUE AND SUDDENLY THE CAR WENT INTO A SLOW MOTION . MESSAGE APPEARED REDUCE ENGINE AND TRANSACTION CONTROL. I WAS NOT ABLE TO GO PASS 20 MILES. I PULLED OVER AT A WALGREENS. SHUT OFF THE CAR AND STARTED AGAIN. SAME MESSAGE. I FINALLY MADE IT HOME ( 1-1/2 ), USUALLY 20-25 MINUTES. I LOOKED ON LINE LAST NIGHT AND SAW NUMEROUS CALLS AND COMPLAINTS REGARDING THE SAME ISSUE. I CALLED GMC THIS MORNING AND OF COURSE NO RECALLS FOR THIS PROBLEM.. FOLLOWING INSTRUCTIONS FROM GM, MY MECHANIC CLEANED CONNECTIONS ON THE PEDAL RELAY. THE SAME PROBLEM OCCURRED THIS PAST SATURDAY WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY, NEARLY CAUSING A COLLISION. I HAVE BEEN TOLD THE REPAIRS TO FIX THIS ISSUE WILL RUN CLOSE TO $1,000. I HAVE ALSO READ MANY FORUMS ON THE INTERNET INDICATING THIS IS A CONSISTENT PROBLEM WITH IMPALA'S. ON JUNE 22, 2012 AS I WAS DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 40 MPH, THE REDUCED ENGINE POWER AND TRACTION CONTROL MESSAGE POPPED UP ON THE DASH. I KNOW MY CAR SLOWED DOWN A LOT AND THEN PICKED UP SPEED AGAIN. I NOTICE THAT EACH TIME I PRESSED ON THE PETAL TO STOP AT A LIGHT OR STOP SIGN THE CAR WOULD JERK FORWARD. I TOOK IT BACK TO THE PLACE WHERE I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE AND IT CAME BACK THAT IT WAS THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL. IT WAS REPLACED AND 5 DAYS LATER THE LIGHTS WERE BACK ON AGAIN. I CALLED THE SHOP AND THEY TOLD ME TO BRING IT BACK TO THEM ON MONDAY BECAUSE THEY WERE CLOSED SATURDAY AND SUNDAY. I TOOK THE CAR BACK TO THE SHOP AND THE LIGHTS WEREN'T ON. AS I WAS DRIVING, ALL OF A SUDDEN THE SERVICE TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT CAME ON AND THEN ENGINE POWER REDUCED LIGHT CAME ON. ON 4/28/13, WHILE TURNING INTO CHURCH PARKING LOT, TRACTION CONTROL AND CHECK ENGINE LIGHTS CAME ON. COMPUTER CHECK THE NEXT DAY SHOWED CODE 2127. THE COMPUTER WAS CLEARED AND THIS PROBLEM CODE DID NOT REAPPEAR. ON 5/28/13, WHILE DRIVING ON A FLAT COUNTRY ROAD AT ABOUT 50 MPH, TRACTION CONTROL AND CHECK ENGINE LIGHTS AGAIN CAME ON. I HAD TO DRIVE APPROX. 20 MILES TO GET BACK TO MY MECHANIC. PART OF THE COMPUTER RESPONSE DURING THE THIS TIME WAS TO REDUCE ENGINE POWER. THIS WAS NOTICEABLE ON ANY MINOR HILL. AGAIN, MY MECHANIC CHECKED THE COMPUTER DIAGNOSTIC AND SAID CODE 2127. I TOOK MY CAR TO MY DEALER 5/29/13 AND THEY REPLACED THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL ASSEMBLY. *TR
ON FRIDAY 5/17/2013 I WAS DRIVING HOME FROM WORK AS I USUALLY DO AND I MADE A STOP AT A RED LIGHT. WHEN THE LIGHT TURNED GREEN AND I STEPPED ON THE GAS TO DRIVE, I FELT THE CAR JERK AND THEN THE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND A MESSAGE POPPED UP AND SAID ENGINE POWER REDUCED. I WAS DRIVING MY SALES ROUTE AND OVER A FEW DAYS TIME, MY CAR WOULD HAVE THE ENGINE PICTURE LIT AND A MESSAGE OF REDUCED POWER WOULD APPEAR AND I COULD NOT DRIVE ANY FASTER THAN 50 AND MY FOOT WAS TO THE FLOORBOARD. MY WIFE AND I PURCHASED THE CHEVY IMPALA TO BE OUR FIRST VEHICLE TOGETHER AFTER GETTING MARRIED. BOUGHT THIS VEHICLE BRAND NEW ONLY 102 MILES ON IT BEFORE WE DROVE IT OFF THE LOT. LITTLE DID WE KNOW IT WAS GOING TO BE 4 YEARS OF NIGHTMARES AND HEADACHES. AT THE TIME READ MANY REVIEW ABOUT THE IMPALA, NOTHING TOO MAJOR WAS FOUND. AFTER THE FIRST WEEK, THE POWER STEERING SEEMED TO BE FAILING, ESPECIALLY DURING RAIN. TOOK IT BACK TO THE DEALER AND THEY COULD NOT REPLICATE THE INCIDENT. WHILE DRIVING, FAST OR SLOW, MY CAR WILL SLOW DOWN ABRUPTLY AND A "ENGINE POWER IS REDUCED" WARNING COMES UP ON THE LCD DASH. THIS HAS ALSO HAPPENED WHILE I'VE BEEN STANDING IDLE AT TRAFFIC LIGHTS. WHEN TAKING OFF FROM A START THE TRANSMISSION DOESN'T ENGAGE CAUSING THE ENGINE TO REV, THEN IT SLAMS INTO GEAR EVENTUALLY. HAVE ALSO NOTICED A DECREASE IN POWER SOMEWHAT. HAVE HAD IT IN THE DEALER FOR SERVICE 3 TIMES AND OF COURSE THEY SAY THEY CANT FIND ANYTHING WRONG WITH IT. KINDA CRAPPY SINCE THE WARRANTY JUST WENT OUT ON THE DRIVE TRAIN ABOUT A MONTH AGO. PROBLEM ONLY SEEMS TO BE GETTING WORSE. I HAVE READ ON FORUMS OF THIS ISSUE ON NUMEROUS VEHICLES THAT USE THE 4T65-HD TRANSMISSION AND THAT GM REFUSES TO ACKNOWLEDGE THAT THERE IS A FLAW IN THESE TRANSMISSIONS. *TR
EXCESSIVE WEAR ON MY REAR TIRES. I HAVE BEEN TOLD THAT THE SUSPENSION IS FAULTY AND THAT EXCESSIVE REPAIR WORK HAD TO BE DONE TO REMEDY THIS. I HAD TO CALL AAA ON ONE OCCASSION BECAUSE ONE OF MY REAR TIRES BLEW OUT BECAUSE OF THIS PROBLEM. NO INJURIES AND I WAS LUCKY THAT I WAS DRIVING IN THE CITY WHEN THIS HAPPENED. ON THE HIGHWAY, I COULD HAVE CAUSE GREAT DAMAGE TO MYSELF AND POSSIBLY TO OTHERS AROUND ME. MY CAR BURNS THRU OIL SO SUPER FAST. IT BURNS A QUART OF OIL APPROXIMATELY EVERY 750 MILES. *TR
I WAS STARTING THE CAR UP AND THE ENGINE WAS GOING IN AND OUT. I NOTICED THAT THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WAS ON AND IT STAYED ON. THE STABILI-TRAC LIGHT ALSO CAME ON. THE PANEL ALSO SAID THAT THE ENGINE WAS LOSING POWER. THIS HAPPENED 2 TIMES WITHIN THE LAST 8 DAYS. I STOPPED THE VEHICLE AND TURNED IT OFF. CRANKED IT BACK UP AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WAS STILL ON. TOOK IT TO THE CAR DEALER AND THEY SAID THAT IT WAS THE THROTTLE POSITION SENSOR. *TR
I WAS GOING DOWN THE ROAD AND OUT OF NO WHERE MY CAR SAYS SERVICE TRACTION CONTROL, FOLLOWED BY SERVICE STABILITRAK, FOLLOWED BY ENGINE POWER REDUCED WITH A CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ON. LOST ALMOST ALL POWER TO THE CAR, COULD BARELY TURN THE WHEEL AND THE BRAKES FELT EXTREMELY STRANGE. I COULD ONLY GO ABOUT 5MPH TOPS DOWN THE ROAD. LUCKILY I WAS ONLY 2 MIN FROM HOME. WHICH ACTUALLY TOOK 6 MIN BECAUSE OF THE REDUCED ENGINE SPEED. RIGHT BEFORE I PULLED IN THE DRIVEWAY THE MOTOR DIED. THE NEXT DAY I WENT OUT AND TRIED STARTING IT. THE REMOTE START WASN'T WORKING AND MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WAS STILL ON BUT IT DID START UP WITH A TURN OF THE KEY. I LOOKED UP CODES AND FOUND THAT IT WAS TELLING ME THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL SENSOR WAS BAD. I HAVE GOOGLED THIS ISSUE AND FOUND THAT IT IS...
AFTER MYSTERIOUS LOSS OF COOLANT, THE HEAD GASKETS REQUIRED REPLACEMENT DUE TO BAD HEAD BOLTS FROM THE FACTORY. THIS OCCURRED 2 MONTHS AFTER THE FACTORY WARRANTY EXPIRED. *TR
I WAS TRAVELING ON A HIGHWAY NEAR TO MY HOME, AND FOR ABOUT A MONTH NOW THE VEHICLE HAS COME UP WITH AN ERROR STATING "REDUCED ENGINE POWER". SUDDENLY, THE VEHICLE SIMPLY STALLED ITSELF, COMING UP WITH A MESSAGE THAT STATED "STARTING DISABLED/SERVICE THROTTLE". I WAS TRAVELING UPHILL AT 40MPH, NOW WITH NO POWER BRAKES, NO POWER STEERING, AND THE ENGINE COMPLETELY SHUT OFF AND UNABLE TO RESTART. LUCKILY I WAS ABLE TO PULL OVER AND DISCONNECT THE BATTERY AND RECONNECT IT TO RESTART IT. WHAT IF THIS HAD HAPPENED ON A HIGHWAY ON OR OFF RAMP? OR ON A CORNER? OR WITH A VEHICLE TRAVELING BEHIND ME? I BELIEVE ANY VEHICLE THAT WILL JUST RANDOMLY TURN ITSELF OFF DUE TO A PART THAT HAS HAD HUNDREDS OF COMPLAINTS THAT I'VE JUST READ ONLINE IS UNSAFE TO BE DRIVEN ON AMERICA'S HIGHWAYS.
