I was driving and powersteering fluid drained and I lost control of the steering, and guide the car against the side walk. Had a mechanic change the powers steering fluid line. But now it's shooting up instead leaking down, it clogged all my spark plugs ,plus cause my cam shaft and crank shaffsensor to malfunction.,plus my belt got shredded. And now it's been over a year, and I still can't drive my car cause. It starts all over. And my front wheels are on not good arms, when crash it bent or Crack the arms.
I GOT HOME FROM WORK AT 7:15AM THIS MORNING 9-29-2019 I WAS LAYING IN BED WATCHING A MOVIE TRYING TO GO TO SLEEP AND WHEN I FINALLY DOZE OFF MY SON ASKED IF HE COULD GO GET A CHARGER OUT OF THE CAR SO HE WENT OUT TO THE CAR AND WHEN HE OPENED THE DOOR HE SAID SMOKE HIT HIM IN HIS FACE HE IMMEDIATELY RAN BACK IN THE HOUSE YELLING 'MOM YOUR CAR IS ON FIRE SO I RAN DOWN THE STAIR AND WENT OUTSIDE AND THATS ALL YOU SEE IS SMOKE MY CAR WAS ON FIRE I IMMEDIATELY CALLED 911 THEY GOT THE FIRE PUT OUT AND THE FIREMAN AND THE POLICE OFFICER SAID MY FIRE STARTED FROM MY STEERING WHEEL BECAUSE AFTER THE FACT THE FIRE WAS PUT OUT THE FIREMAN SAID HE NOTICED THAT THE STEERING WHEEL WAS THROWING SPARKS STILL SO THEY SAID THAT'S...
CAR LOSES POWER STEERING WHEN TURNING.

THE CONTACT LOST CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE AND THE VEHICLE FLIPPED INTO A DITCH. THE AIR BAGS DEPLOYED AND CAUSED MINOR INJURIES THAT REQUIRED MEDICAL ATTENTION. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A COLLISION CENTER WHERE IT WAS DEEMED A TOTAL LOSS. THE DEALER (CHEVROLET OF GOLDSBORO, 3300 HIGHWAY 70 BYPASS, EAST GOLDSBORO, NC 27534, (919)-429-9909) WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THERE WERE NO RECALLS RELATED TO THE VIN. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 148,507.
STEERING PUMP HAS FAILED. STEERING WILL NOT WORK WHEN I BRAKE.
WINTER OF 2016 I LOST POWER STEERING WHILE I WAS DRIVING 60MPH. MY WHEEL WAS ALMOST LIKE IT WAS FROZE AND TOOK ALL I HAD TO PULL OFF THE ROAD. I WAS LEAKING POWER STEERING FLUID I WAS TOLD BY A MOTORIST WHO STOPED TO HELP. HE SAID DRIVE IT TO NEAREST MECHANIC. I DID AND WAS TOLD IT WAS THE HOSE HAD BURST. HE FIXED IT. THEN 4 MO LATER CAR WAS WHINNING AND LOST STEERING AGAIN. THIS TIME PUMP WAS BAD AND OTHER HOSE WAS LEAKING. FIXED IT. NOW DRIVING ON A COLD DAY AND LOST STEERING AGAIN!!! FLUID ALL OVER GROUND AND HORRIBLE WHINE AGAIN. I AM A DISABLED 55 YEAR OLD WOMAN AND ITS SO NHARD TO STEER CAR. IM VERY LUCKY I DIDNT CRASH. AS WELL AS BEING ON A VERY STRICT INCOME OF SSI DISABILITY AND UNABLE TO AFFORD GETTING SAME THING FIXED. ITSVERY...
REAR DEFROSTER WIRING UNDER FRONT PASSENGER DOOR HAD SMOKED AND SMALL FIRE. CAR WAS IN MOTION ON A CITY STREET. WAS JUST PULLING INTO MY DRIVEWAY SO I PULLED OF FUSE BOX COVER TO DISCOVER IT. WIRES MELTED. HAD NO FUSE IN THERE. BURNED OUT QUICKLY.
HAS BEEN AN ONGOING PROBLEM FOR 4 YEARS HAPPENING OCCASIONALLY, NOW DAILY, AND KEEPS GETTING WORSE. POWER STEERING FAILS AT LOW IDLE AND SOMETIMES GETS STUCK UNTIL I GIVE IT A LITTLE ACCELERATION TO GET IT TURNING. HAPPENS WHILE TRYING TO PARK OR TURN AT A LOW RATE OF SPEED, BUT NOW HAPPENING AT A FASTER SPEED, WHILE TURNING ONTO ANOTHER STREET.

MY CAR WON'T SHIFT FROM THE PARK POSITION, I HAD TO LIFT UP CONSOLE COVER AND PUSH RELEASE BUTTON IN ORDER TO AVOID PAYING FOR A TOW. FOUND OUT IT WAS THE WIRED CONNECTOR OR MODULE OR POSSIBLY WIRES THAT MOVE WHEN YOU SHIFT GEARS.

MUST NOW HAVE RACK AND PINION REPLACED, POWER STEERING FLUID LEAKING IN THAT AREA.

THIS INCIDENT FIRST OCCURRED A FEW WEEKS AGO WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY I GOT THE ENGINE POWER REDUCED MESSAGE. MY CAR DIDN'T SEEM TO RUN DIFFERENT AND THE ENGINE LIGHT WENT OFF THE VERY NEXT DAY. THEN ABOUT 1 WEEK LATER IT HAPPENED AGAIN BUT THIS TIME MY CAR WAS ACTING FUNNY WHEN I NEEDED TO ACCELERATE. I WAS TRYING TO WAIT UNTIL PAID DAY TO TAKE IT TO BE CHECKED BUT I COULDN'T WAIT. ON WEDNESDAY, APRIL 1, 2015 WHENEVER I STOPPED AT A LIGHT OR STOP SIGN WHEN IT WAS TIME TO GO MY CAR WOULD NOT ACCELERATE. I MADE IT WORK OK, BUT ON MY BREAK I NEEDED TO GO TAKE CARE OF SOME IMPORTANT BUSINESS AND MY CAR JUST STOPPED ON ME WHILE I WAS MAKING A RIGHT HAND TURN. IT WOULD NOT START UP. I COULD NOT TURN IT OR ANYTHING. MY CAR STALLED...
THE POWER STEERING PUMP HAS BEEN REPLACED 4 TIMES IN 5 OR 6 YEARS. THERE WAS A RECALL ON THE POWER STEERING COOLER LINE WHICH WAS REPAIRED BY REPLACING CLAMPS AND HOSE AS PER RECALL IN 2011.ON 10/12/12 THE STEERING GEAR AND THE POWER STEERING PUMP WERE REPLACED. ON 10/25/12 THE POWER STEERING PUMP THAT WAS PUT ON 10/12/12 WAS FOUND TO BE LEAKING AND WAS REPLACED. IT WAS STILL UNDER WARRANTY. ON 12/16/14 ANOTHER POWER STEERING PUMP HAD TO BE PUT ON AS THE PREVIOUS ONE HAD FAILED. THE PUMP THAT WAS REPLACED WAS NOT UNDER WARRANTY. *TR

AT 101,000 MILES I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY AND MY TRANSMISSION STOPPED WORKING. I REFINANCED MY CAR TO REBUILD THE TRANSMISSION FOR $2,200 . AFTER THE REBUILD TRANSMISSION WAS WORKING OK. THEN AT 122,000 MILES IT STOPPED WORKING AGAIN... IT WAS SNOWING AND I WAS STRANDED IN THE TURN LANE OF A ROAD WITH A SPEED LIMIT OF 55MPH... I TURNED OFF MY CAR LET THE ENGINE COOL DOWN AND BACK ON AT LEAST 20 TIMES... MY CAR MOVED ABOUT 200 FEET EACH TIME... AN HOUR LATER I GOT BACK TO MY HOUSE THAT WAS 5MILES FROM THE FAILURE. MY DAUGHTER WAS DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD WHEN SHE WAS NOT ABLE TO STEER THE CAR. THE CAR ENTERED THE DITCH AND ROLLED. MY DAUGHTER WAS BANGED AND BRUISED UP BUT DID NOT REQUIRE GOING TO THE HOSPITAL. I THEN RECEIVE A RECALL NOTICE THAT THERE IS A FAULT IN THE IGNITION SYSTEM AND TO REMOVE ALL ITEMS FROM THE KEY RING. ALSO, THAT GM WAS AWARE OF THIS PROBLEM AND DID NOTHING ABOUT IT. WHILE DRIVING THE CAR THE CAR SHUT OFF AND THE STEERING GOT STIFF. I WAS UNABLE TO CONTROL THE STEERING WHICH CAUSED ME TO RUN INTO A BRICK MAILBOX. *TR

I WAS TURNING FROM ONE STREET ONTO ANOTHER AND ALL OF A SUDDEN THERE WAS A CLANKING NOISE COMING FROM UNDER THE CAR AND THEN THE POWER STEERING WENT OUT ALONG WITH THE BRAKES AND MY ACCELERATION. I HAD TO PULL OVER AND STOP THE CAR. AFTER ALL THIS MY CAR WOULD NOT START AND EVERY TIME I TRIED TO START MY CAR, IT SOUNDED LIKE THE BATTERY DIED BUT I KNOW IT WASN'T THE BATTERY. *TR
CAR HARD TO STEER AND TURN, HIT A CONCRETE BARRIER DAMAGE THE LEFT FRONT BUMPER, LIGHT, BODY FRAME ON LEFT SIDE OF THE CAR. *TR
IN THE FALL 2010 I PURCHASED THE 2006 IMPALA WITH NEARLY 19,000 MILES ON IT. . FROM THE START I WAS HAVING PROBLEMS LOSING AIR WITH ONE OF THE TIRES, AND EACH TIME I TOOK IT IN, WAS TOLD IT WAS FIXED. AT THE BEGINNING OF 2013 I STARTED PUMPING AIR INTO THAT ONE TIRE EVERY 3,4, DAYS, AND THE GRINDING NOISE I HEARD SINCE APRIL OF 2013, ( AT WHICH TIME IT PASSED INSPECTION) PROGRESSED INTO NOT BEING ABLE TO STEER AT ALL. ON APRIL 4, 2014,(CAR INSPECTION TIME) I MANAGED TO BRING THE CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP I PURCHASED FROM. AFTER SPENDING $921. FOR THE YEARLY NY STATE INSPECTION, FOUR NEW TIRED, THE PROBLEM WITH THE DEFLATING TIRE, THE POWER STEERING , I THOUGHT EVERYTHING IS "OK". NOT SO. AS I DROVE THE CAR HOME, I HEARD THIS LOUD HUMMING NOISE. I THOUGHT I PURCHASED SOME BAD TIRES???...
MY POWER STEERING WAS ACTING CRAZY AND MAKING CLICKING AND OTHER WEIRD SOUNDS. AFTER BEING NOTIFIED OF A RECALL, I TOOK IT IN TO THE DEALER. THE DEALER TOLD ME THEY HAD TO PERFORM THE RECALL, WHICH THEY HAVE IT LISTED AS A POWER STEERING FLUSH ON MY GM OWNER CENTER FILE. IT HAS NOW RETURNED BACK TO CLICKING AND WEIRD SOUNDS WHEN I DRIVE AND TURN. I'M SCARED THAT MAYBE GM IS OVERLOOKING MY IMPALA. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHEVROLET IMPALA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE STEERING WOULD EXHIBIT A CLICKING AND GRINDING NOISE WHILE THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING 35 MPH. THE CONTACT DID NOT TAKE THE VEHICLE IN FOR REPAIRS. THE CONTACT DID NOT NOTIFY MANUFACTURER. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHEVROLET IMPALA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE STEERING WHEEL WOULD CONSTANTLY SEIZE WITHOUT WARNING WHEN TURNING LEFT. THE CONTACT HAD TO USE FORCE WHEN EXITING A PARKING AREA AND THE VEHICLE COULD NOT BE PARALLEL PARKED DUE TO THE STEERING FAILURE. THE DEALER ADVISED THE CONTACT THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER 09E005000 (STEERING). THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 75,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 77,000.

I HAVE BEEN HAVING AN ISSUE WITH MY STEERING COLUMN IN MY IMPALA I KNOW THERE WAS A RECALL ON SOME IMPALA'S BUT WHEN I CONTACTED A LOCAL DEALER I WAS TOLD MINE WASN'T IN RECALL . YET THERE'S A POPPING NOISE IN STEERING COLUMN AND JUST RECENTLY I STARTED HAVING PROBLEMS WITH MY HIGH BEAM LIGHTS THEY WILL SWITCH TO HIGH BEAM WHENEVER I USE MY BLINKER AND I HAVE TO PUSH IN N HOLD IN THE BLINKER SWITCH FOR A FEW MINS BEFORE THE HIGH BEAM LIGHTS WILL GO OFF ! I'VE BRIGHT LIGHTED SO MANY PPL OVER THIS PROBLEM AND I FEEL VERY GUILTY IF I CAUSED SOMEONE TO CRASH OVER BRIGHT LIGHTING THEM EVEN THOUGH IT'S OUT OF MY CONTROL REALLY . 1. THE CAR WOULD STOP ACCELERATING AND COMPLETELY TURN OFF WHILE DRIVING. STEERING WHEEL WOULD LOCK AND WOULD COAST TO A STOP. ALL THE LIGHTS ON INSTRUMENT PANEL AND EVERYTHING WOULD TURN OFF. 2. 3 SEAT BELT LATCHES NO LONGER WORK. *TR
I WAS DRIVING MY COMPANY ASSIGNED CAR DOWN A STEEP HILL WHEN THE ENGINE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. THIS HAS HAPPENED 5 OTHER TIMES WITH THIS VEHICLE. AFTER LEAVING WORK I STARTED UP MY CAR, THEN PUT THE GEAR INTO DRIVE. I COULD NOT TURN THE STEERING WHEEL. I HAD TO USE ALOT OF FORCE JUST TO TURN IT. EVER SINCE THEN I'VE BEEN HAVING PROBLEMS WITH MY STEERING. *TR
OBSERVED A FLUID LEAK NEAR RIGHT FRONT WHEEL. THE LEAK IS POWER STEERING FLUID. FOUND THE LEAK TO BE CAUSED BY A HOLE IN THE ALUMINUM POWER STEERING RETURN/COOLING LINE. THE LINE WAS LEAKING CAUSED BY THE PLASTIC WHEEL WELL LINER RUBBING A HOLE IN THE ALUMINUM TUBE. *TR

THE STEERING GEAR WAS REPLACED BY THE DEALER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE DEFECT. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 29,580 . UPDATED 12-05-13 *BF THE CONSUMER STATED IN 2009, THE HIGH PRESSURE STEERING HOSE WAS REPLACED.
