IS OR WAS OR HAS THIS CAR HAD ANY RECALLS. FOR A 2006 VEH WITH ONLY 54,104 MILES ON IT AND HAVE TO PUT OUT THE MONEY TO PAY FOR WORK ON A CAR WITH ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS, SO FAR (INTERCONTROL MODULE) IS NOT RIGHT. THIS PROBLEM CAUSED THE WHOLE CAR TO NOT RESPOND AT ALL (IN LUCK WE WERE AT HOME WHEN THIS HAPPENED)BUT, IF WE WERE GONE IT COULD HAVE BEEN A DISASTER IF THIS WOULD HAVE HAPPENED WHILE DRIVING IT SHUTS THE WHOLE CAR DOWN, THIS IS A DISASTER WAITING TO HAPPEN. PLEASE HELP *KB
2006 IMPALA SS, 5.3L V8. EXCESSIVE OIL CONSUMPTION; 1 QT EVERY 1,200 - 1,500 MILES. PROBLEM STARTED BEFORE CAR REACHED MANUFACTURER 3 YEAR 36000 MILE WARRANTY. DEALER REPLACED VALVE COVERS TO REPAIR WHAT WERE BELIEVED TO BE FAULTY PCV VALVES INTEGRATED INTO VALVE COVERS. OIL CONSUMPTION CONTINUES. DEALER NOW WANTS TO CLEAN UPPER PART OF ENGINE TO OPEN OIL FLOW PORTS, STILL INDICATING OIL IS ACCUMULATING UNDER VALVE COVERS AND BEING PULLED BACK INTO ENGINE THRU PCV VALVE. DEALER HAS NEVER PERFORMED COMPRESSION TEST TO DETERMINE IF PROBLEM IS REALLY RELATED TO COMBUSTION CHAMBER PROBLEMS, SUCH AS BAD PISTON RINGS. DEALER HAS REPORTED THAT THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM ON SILVERADO PICKUP TRUCKS WITH THE SAME 5.3L V8 ENGINE BLOCK. CAR NOW HAS 51000 MILES AND PROBLEM HAS NOT BEEN SOLVED. CAR WILL BE GOING BACK TO DEALER WITH A DEMAND FOR A COMPRESSION CHECK. *KB
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHEVEROLET IMPALA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE EXPERIENCED BOTH POWER STEERING AND ENGINE FAILURES. THE CONTACT RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE IN REGARDS TO THE POWER STEERING. THE DEALER REPAIRED THE VEHICLE ACCORDING TO THE POWER STEERING RECALL BY REPLACING THE HOSE AND THE CLAMPS ON FEBRUARY 24, 2010. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE AT APPROXIMATELY 40 MPH, THE VEHICLE OVERHEATED AND SMOKE EMITTED FROM UNDER THE HOOD. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR A DIAGNOSTICS TEST AND THE DEALER INFORMED HER THAT THE ENGINE OVERHEATED BECAUSE THE WATER PUMP WAS LEAKING. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED AT THE TIME OF THE COMPLAINT. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 78,591.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHEVROLET IMPALA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE TRANSMISSION JUMPED FORWARD. WHILE ATTEMPTING TO ACCELERATE FROM A STOP, THE ENGINE REVVED AND THE VEHICLE LUNGED FORWARD. THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN TO THE DEALER SEVERAL TIMES FOR THE SAME ISSUE, BUT THEY CANNOT DETERMINE THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 18,000 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 27,000.
