Defect: CERTAIN HONEYWELL FRAM RACING BRAND HP4 AND HP8 OIL FILTERS THAT WERE MANUFACTURED FROM MAY 25, 2006, THROUGH SEPTEMBER 14, 2007, AND SOLD FOR USE AS REPLACEMENT EQUIPMENT FOR VEHICLES LIST ABOVE. THE AFFECTED FILTERS ARE MARKED WITH A DATE CODE A61451 THROUGH A72571 SEQUENTIALLY. THE DATE CODE AND PART NUMBER APPEAR ON THE FILTER HOUSING. FRAM RACING HP4 AND...

Consequence: THIS CONDITION MAY CAUSE INADEQUATE SEALING AND LOSS OF ENGINE OIL, POSSIBLY RESULTING IN A FIRE.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2002 CHEVROLET EXPRESS CUTAWAY G3500. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO COAST ONTO THE SHOULDER AND RESTART THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A LOCAL MECHANIC WHERE A DIAGNOSTIC WAS PERFORMED AND LOCATED THE FAILURE AT THE CRANK SHAFT POSITION SENSOR. THE LOCAL MECHANIC REPLACED THE CRANK SHAFT POSITION SENSOR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 69,196 AND THE APPROXIMATE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 71,000.

TWO CHEVY DLRS AND GM CUSTOMER SERVICE MADE AWARE OF PMD HEAT PROBLEM, BUT ALL THREE SOURCES CLAIM CAN'T REPAIR UNTIL MAJOR FAILURE.
