Wipers stopped working sounded like they were grinding when they stopped.
2014 Chevy Equinox- Consumer is requesting reimbursement for parts and repair in connection to the Safety Recall # N212352530. Recall letter and repair & parts invoice attached.
Stopped to get gas turned off the vehicle. when turned back on heat did not work, blowers are blowing cold air. can not defrost the windshield.
I seen the recall and drivetime refuse to fix the windshield wipers and it went out. It cause me to be rear ended from the back. Also, I paid 720.00 to get the windshield wipers pump replace my pep boys. I will like a refund for what I paid to get it fix.
On September 12 I was nearly killed due to a windshield wiper malfunction that was unfixed due to a parts shortage. The wiper motor failed in a downpour while I drove on the Interstate surrounded by sem trucks. I was in the inside lane and managed to blindly pull off and sat broke down on the Interstate. The event was devastating and could have been fatal. My husband was able to get the replacement at OReilly part store that day. Yesterday 11-4-2022 a dealership cometed the recall work.
Wipers have stopped twice now during rainstorms. I had to pull over during heavy traffic until they started again. The recall letter I received is dated April 2022....shouldn't they have the parts to fix this issue by now ?

It was pouring rain, had the wipers on highest setting. Then all of the sudden they quit. I was stuck at an old church in the middle of nowhere Kentucky and in a hell of a thunderstorm.
My daughter was traveling on the NJ Turnpike during a storm and the safety recall issue which we were alerted to failed and caused my daughter distress while traveling at 65 mph and put her in harm's ways. She was unable to make it home and was fortunate to not have an accident. WE RECEIVED A SAFETY RECALL LETTER IN APRIL 2022 REGARDING THE WINDSHIELD WIPER MODULES THAT COULD FAIL FOR OUR CHEVROLET EQUINOX 2014 VEHICLE. THE LETTER INFORMED US THAT THIS PART IF IT SHOULD FAIL COULD CAUSE A SEVERE ACCIDENT. THE PART WAS NOT AVAILABLE AND THE LETTER INFORMED US THAT WHEN IT BECAME AVAILABLE THEY WOULD CONTACT US. SEVERAL WEEKS LATER THE PART FAILED WHILE TRAVELING ON THE NJ TURNPIKE AT 65 MPH IN THE POURING RAIN. IT BECAME IMPOSSIBLE TO DRIVE THE CAR AND OUR DAUGHTER WAS UNABLE TO MAKE IT SAFELY HOME. WE CONTACTED CHEVROLET...
Windshield wipers do not work and have been recalled for 3 months. I have been waiting for a remedy since then to get them fixed with the dealership we have replaced wiper motor, wiper linkage, and wiper arms to try and solve the problem all of which have failed. The dealership is waiting for the update on this end. My car is due for inspection by the end of June and they are unable to pass me until my wipers are working. Not only is this a huge safety hazard but a huge inconvenience consider I can’t drive my car when it rains and have gotten stuck places waiting on rain to stop or lighten up just to get home.

On Sunday, May 15, 2022, my daughter was driving on the NJ Turnpike Northbound from Rutherford, NJ when it began to rain. She was traveling 65 mph when the windshield wiper on the driver side stopped working. She explained that it became hazardous to drive as cars were splashing water on the windshield and it was raining and she had to lean over to the passenger side window in order to see. SHE WAS UNABLE TO MAKE IT HOME. She got off at the next exit and thought the blade needed replacement. She took the car to a mechanic at Sunoco who tried 6 different wiper blades but it was not the blade but the motor which was faulty. The recall letter that was received in April 2022 details that the ball joint in the windshield wiper modules of these vehicles may experience high corrosion and wear that could result...
Wipers stop working during rain storm. Transmission slips when you take off Electric seat backward and forward button stop working.
My wife was driving our 2014 Equinox on the highway at night in the rain, and the wipers just stopped working. The wiper motor would still whine, but the wipers were not moving. I found the larger arm that connects the wiper motor to the wipers had fallen off - both ends. I tried snapping it back in, but the plastic ball joints were really loose. I checked for active recalls, and there wasn't one for our VIN, but there were for similar models, so I replaced the wiper transmission myself for $121.99 plus tax. The car has 64,000 miles. Now, 2 weeks later, there is a recall. The letter says "corrosion". There is no corrosion. The plastic socket just wore out (prematurely). Maybe bad type of plastic or the lube was too abrasive.
Wipers stopped working during a snowstorm. Had to pull over and leave the car and go back after the storm.
Issue started 31-Dec-21 left windshield wiper stopped working while driving. Took suv in for repair and was told they were unable to repair as the entire blade and motor would have to be replaced I was referred to the dealership; dealership would have to order the part and not open on weekends. A week later the wiper started working. January 16, 2022, Ive tried to not use the wipers but I got caught in a storm 1.5hrs away from home. I had no choice I put my wipers on the lowest setting with the delay and put on my flashers and just drove in the slow lane. The wipers stopped 30min into my drive and eventually popped off completely it is now resting on my side mirror. I eventually had to pull over and have the vehicle towed. It was just no way to drive in that condition.
There are SO many problems with my 2014 Equinox. It's been one thing after another. My windshield wipers quit working in the middle of a storm that caused me to run off the road and wreck my car. My drivers side window was stuck down and wouldn't go up for days! Now, I just found out the engine needs to be replaced, 4,000.00 I dont have. These vehicles go through oil like its gas! The Service stabilitrak warning came on, followed by Reduce engine power, and the car dies. I've been stranded in the middle of the road a few times. I don't understand how there are NO RECALLS on these vehicles. They are so dangerous!
driving in a rain storm wipers just quit back worked front wipers quit.
Windshield wipers stopped working while driving. Read online that this happens to a lot of Equinox’s.
While I was driving in heavy rain my windshield wipers popped and stopped working, later I found that the windshield wiper motor had fail. I've never had this happen to any vehicle I've owned.
While driving with windshield wipers on wipers stopped working. The first occurrence happened November 2019. It happened again August 2021.
Driving west on I-40 near Knoxville, TN during a heavy rain shower & windshield wipers stopped working. I was in the left lane, no shoulder to pull into. I put on my hazard lights & was able to get across the two lanes of traffic, visibility lousy, & pull onto the right shoulder to wait out the shower. Onstar provided the location & directions to the nearest Advanced Auto. Wipers couldn't be fixed, fuse & relay were good. Luckily the store manages suggested RainX & helped apply it. I continued my trip home to Chesapeake, Virginia & ran into rain again around Yorktown. Tense driving from then on. Took car to repair shop appointment on Thursday, 8/5, & they said the transmission of the wiper assembly was bad. $466.53 to fix. There is a recall for wipers on the 2013 & 2015 Equinox, why not expand it to include 2014?...

2014 Chevy Equinox 2LT Sunday afternoon: Driving down rd w heavy traffic AND construction zone with my 11yr old and her BFF. All of a sudden tropical storm unleashed HEAVY rain. I turn on wipers and within a few minutes BOOM...wipers hyperextend and stop working. I cannot see 2 ft in front of me w 2 children in car. Long story short, I was lucky and did NOT KILL OR INJURE anyone. I pull over and can hear wiper motor is running so I turn off and reposition wipers on windshield (my driver side wiper was extended beyond windshield and passenger was half across driver side). Turn on wipers and NOTHING...NO WIPERS but continue to hear wiper motor. I begin searching online and see this is a KNOWN SAFETY ISSUE and I had NOT been notified. I contacted the dealership Monday morning as soon as they open. 4 Dealerships cannot...
While operating 2014 Chevy Equinox owned by my wife's deceased father and now owned by his widow and my wife's mother, while approaching a stop light in the rain with the wipers on high do to the rain volume, The wipers suddenly stopped functioning and never started again. Fortunately my spouse was able to get it of the road safely and remained stranded for about an hour until the rain subsided. She was traveling with her 75 year old mother ( Owner of the vehicle mentioned) whom isn't in the greatest of health and two small children. Had she been traveling on the interstate even at a reduced speed to match the condition, all could have been catastrophic and we would be talking at this point through my lawyer. After researching several forums, this seems to be a systemic issue and yet there still is not a recall to hold...
It was pouring down rain and I was driving 70 mph on the 4 lane & the next thing I knew the windshield wiper blades went all the way over on the driver's side. Freaked me out. Finally got pulled over on a safe area.My husband got out & checked the windshield wipers they will move manually but not if you turn them on from in the car. This is terrible and actually can be DEADLY.

WINDSHIELD WIPERS STOPPED DURING A REALLY BAD STORM!!!! COULD'VE RESULTED IN FATALITIES!!!! NOT UNDERSTANDING WHY THERE HASN'T BEEN A RECALL FOR ALL YEARS AFFECTED BY THIS AS I SEE THEY RECALLED YEAR 2013. THE WORSE PART IS THAT THERE WILL HAVE TO BE A FATALITY BEFORE THEY RECALL A PART THAT IS OBVIOUSLY PROBLEMATIC FOR SO MANY OTHERS!!!!!
DRIVING IN INCLEMENT WEATHER ON A MAJOR US HIGHWAY(RT.93) AT 65MPH MY WIPERS SUDDENLY STOPPED WORKING FORCING ME TO NAVIGATE TO THE BREAKDOWN LANE .MY VISION WAS PRACTICALLY ZERO DUE TO THE LACK OF WIPERS
WHILE DRIVING DURING A RAIN/SNOW EVENT, THE DRIVER SIDE WINDSHIELD WIPER STOPPED WORKING. THE DRIVER SIDE WIPER WAS SUSPENDED WHILE THE PASSENGER SIDE CONTINUED TO MOVE. AS VISIBILITY DECREASED MY 17-YEAR-OLD DAUGHTER HAD TO PULL OVER AND CALL FOR ASSISTANCE. SHE COULD NO LONGER SEE OUT THE DRIVER SIDE WINDSHIELD.
DRIVING ON FREEWAY IN POURING RAIN IN THE DARK. WHEN WIPERS STOPED MID STROKE. THIS HAPPENED TODAY 12/16/2020. I PULLED THE VEHICLE OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE FREEWAY AND HAD TO BE TOWED. I WILL DIAGNOSE LATER. LUCKILY NO ACCIDENT. NOT GOOD TO HAVE WIPERS STOP WORKING
MY WIFE WAS DRIVING MY 2 YOUNG SONS TO DAYCARE IN THE MORNING WHILE IT WAS RAINING WHEN SHE WAS ALMOST THERE THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS JUST STOPED WORKING. SHE DROVE TO A FRIENDS HOUSE CLOSE BY AFTER DROPPING MY CHILDREN OFF AND HAD TO GET AN UBER HOME. UPON INSPECTION I FOUND THE WIPER TRANSMISSION ARM BECAME DISCONNECTED FROM THE WIPER LINKAGE. AFTER LOOKING ONLINE I DISCOVERED THIS WAS A COMMON PROBLEM AND IT WAS SUGGESTED TO REPLACE THE BUSHING THAT CONNECTS THEM. I REPLACED IT WITH THE CORRECT BUSHING AND REINSTALLED IT. THE WIPERS WORKED FINE FOR A FEW DAYS AND THIS MORNING THE SAME THING HAPPENED AGAIN WHILE SHE WAS DRIVING MY SONS TO DAYCARE AND SHE ATTEMPTED TO USE THE WIPERS TO SPRAY AND CLEAN THE WINDOWS THEY DISCONNECTED. I HAVE SEEN THIS SAME COMPLAINT FROM MANY PEOPLE AND AM NOW VERY CONCERNED THAT AFTER IT GETS...
WINDSHIELD WIPERS STOPPED WORKING DURING RAINSTORM FROM HURRICANE ZETA. WIPER MOTOR STILL RUNS BUT WIPERS DO NOT MOVE. WIPER TRANSMISSION LINKAGE HAS BROKEN. IF THIS HASN'T HAPPENED TO YOU YET IT'S ONLY A MATTER OF TIME BEFORE IT DOES.
WINDSHLELD WIPER JUMPS OFF WINDSHIELD ON DRIVER SIDE. I'VE REPLACED THE ENTIRE MECHANISM SEVERAL TIMES AND IT ONLY LASTS ABOUT SIX MONTHS OR SO BEFORE DOING IT AGAIN. TERRIBLE DESIGN. PLASTIC PARTS. SOMEONE NEEDS TO DO SOMETHING ABOUT THIS. I PUT DOWN OCTOBER 30, 2020 AS THE DATE THIS HAPPENED BUT IT'S NOT THE FIRST TIME.
WIPERS STOPPED WORKING DURING RAINSTORM WHILE CAR WAS MOVING. LUCKILY I WAS IN A PARKING LOT WHEN I HAPPENED. SOUNDS LIKE MOTOR IS WORKING, HOWEVER WIPERS HAVE NOT MOVED SINCE, AND REMAIN USELESS.
WINDSHIELD WIPERS STOPPED WORKING IN THE MIDDLE OF USING THEM AT NIGHT IN THE RAIN ON THE FLORIDA TURNPIKE. WINDSHIELD WIPERS WENT DOWN AND NEVER CAME BACK UP. YOU CAN HEAR THE MOTOR WORKING BUT WIPERS DO NOT MOVE.
WIPERS WERE RUNNING AND THEN SUDDENLY THEY STOPPED DURING RAIN STORM. WHEN I TURN THE WIPERS ON NOW, THEY JUST MAKE A CLICKING NOISE BUT THEY DO NOT MOVE
WIPERS STOPPED WORKING WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY IN HEAVY RAIN. WIPER MOTOR COULD BE HEARD STILL WORKING. REPLACING THE FUSE HAD NO EFFECT. BIG SAFETY ISSUE, WITH PLENTY OF COMPLAINTS ON RECORD FOR THE SAME THING.
AS I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE STREET THE WIPER BLADES STOPPED WORKING. I TRIED TO TURN THE WIPERS BACK OFF AND THEN BACK ON AND THE MOTOR SEEMS TO WORK HOWEVER THE BLADES WERE NOT MOVING. IT WAS RAINING OUT AND I WAS DRIVING WHEN THIS HAPPENED. THIS IS A BIG SAFETY ISSUE. LUCKILY I DID NOT GET IN AN ACCIDENT.
THE WINDSHIELD WIPER TRANSMISSION FAILED. THE WIPERS STOPPED COMPLETELY. MY DAUGHTER WAS DRIVING IN A HEAVY THUNDERSTORM AND COULDN'T SEE ANYTHING. SHE WAS ON I-95 IN HEAVY TRAFFIC IN THE MIDDLE LANE AND WAS LUCKY TO AVOID AN ACCIDENT. I'M AWARE THAT THERE WAS A RECALL FOR THE SAME THING IN 2013 MODELS AND THAT THERE IS A CURRENT INVESTIGATION INTO THE SAME PROBLEM FOR OTHER YEARS. THIS COULD HAVE BEEN TRAGIC! I SEE NUMEROUS REPAIR VIDEOS ONLINE FOR THE SAME EXACT PROBLEM! CHEVY KNOWS THIS!
DRIVING ON E WAY , WIPERS JUST STOPPED WORKING IN THE MIDDLE OF SNOW STORM. GOT OFF AT CLOSEST EXIT, WENT IN TO AUTO PARTS GOT DIAGNOSIS THAT WIPER TRANSMISSION HAD WENT OUT. WITHOUT ANY WARNING AT ALL.
