Three weeks ago the instrument cluster indicated a failure of the front collision avoidance system and said to have the vehicle examined by the dealer. I dropped it off two weeks ago and have been informed that they're having trouble updating the instrument panel and other component software. Other times the instrument panel would go dark for several seconds while driving. There is an open recall on X5 models produced from 01/24. Mine is not included as it was produced 11/23. Recall is 24V-138

Since purchasing the car new, the check engine light has come on repeatedly (probably about ten times in 2+ years). I believe it’s related to the electric charging components. This seems to be a known and unresolved problem with this model. BMW has refused to replace the vehicle or even acknowledge that this is a known problem, even though I paid almost 90K for the car. They just expect me to take it to the dealership every couple of month. I told them I want to trade in the car and asked how they intend to stand behind their defective product, and I have heard nothing in return. The check engine light is currently on since the most recent software update.

The drive train failed on the car and left the car without power as the transmission disengaged and was revving in drive mode. This happened when I was making a right turn. Oncoming traffic had to dodge us making it a very dangerous situation. The shoulder was narrow so half of the car in the number one lane. The car had been back into the dealership many time for similar issue but this time the car actual hard warning signs flash on the screen and loss complete power and maneuverability. A few different lights came on the dash. Prior to the car completely shutting down, the car would down shift really hard and the computer says the car was trying to go in reverse. I’ve loss all confidence in this car and feel unsafe getting back into it.

I purchased this vehicle under my company to rent and make some extra income for my family. We also had a baby in August of 2024 so wanted a larger vehicle for the family. We purchased the vehicle on Feb 20,2024 and the recall was issued on Feb 14,2024. We were sold a lemon. I went to the dealership and told them they said they will have a solution in a year. Still no solution and I still cannot rent my vehicle because it has an open recall. Me and my family do not feel safe in this vehicle. Please can someone help. I am willing to return the car or even exchange for a vehicle that doesn’t have a recall as soon as I drive off the lot. Thank you.

As I was turning into a disabled parking space the vehicle speed suddenly increased speed by itself and hitting the brakes had no effect on the speed. This caused the vehicle to hit a concrete pillar that held the handicap parking sign

The rear cross traffic sensor does not warn when there is oncoming traffic. It puts me, my passengers and other cars at a safety risk. BMW Palm Springs investigated and tested and states that the system is not providing any error messages. But in physical testing the system does not work as described in the BMW marketing video [XXX] . I have owned this car for six months and the rear cross traffic sensor has never worked. 2024 July summer time, the compressor started same issue as the temperature increased. All of a sudden, the car was started showing major “drivetrain error” and “high voltage battery error”. I have taken the car again back to the same dealership and this time the car was starting to show major system failures. I have kept BMW in the email loop and at the first instance itself I have called out that cooling issues can cause battery issues, and it happened exactly like that after 7 months. Car was with the dealership from 07/22/2024 mileage: 7896 to 07/24/2024. Dealership said this was just a software issue even though there were errors related to high voltage, after 3 days, dealership simply updated the software and cleared all the issue and related the car stating that everything fixed. I have attached the service appointment letter for this issue. It looks like they...

The recall was issued in Feb 2024 and the BMW still has not remedy for the problem. This is a serious recall and poses a serious safety risk to my health and life. Per BMW: "In Some Cases, There Will Be A Reduction In Power Assist Braking, Which Could Lead To An Extended Stopping Distance And Increase The Risk Of A Crash. The Antilock Brake System (ABS) And Dynamic Stability Control (DSC) System May Not Function, Which Could Also Affect Braking Performance As Well As Vehicle Handling And Control. However, Fully Mechanical Braking Is Not Affected And, If The IB System Is Not Functioning Properly, The Parking (Emergency) Brake Will Be Automatically Activated To Aid In Braking Performance And Help Maintain Vehicle Stability And Control"

I am filing this complaint regarding serious safety issues with my 2024 BMW X5 xDrive50e, which currently has approximately 12,000 miles. 1. Drivetrain Malfunctions and Assembly Error: The vehicle experienced three instances of drivetrain malfunctions within an eight-day period, causing it to go into limp mode unexpectedly while driving. The issue was identified as a misrouted wiring harness, which has since been repaired. I was informed by the BMW technician that a service bulletin addressing this issue was released 6 months prior to the production of my vehicle. Despite BMW’s knowledge of this recurring problem, the vehicle was assembled incorrectly, creating a significant safety hazard. This failure to address known issues during production resulted in potential disaster, compromising my safety and that of others on the road. 2. Unresolved Safety Recall – Regenerative ABS Braking System: The vehicle is subject to an ongoing recall for the regenerative ABS braking system,...

DSC unit continually draining battery. Had to take it to get serviced 3x within 6 months of purchase as new. Had to replace battery and DSC unit multiple times

Four Check Engine lights and a Drivetrain Malfunction related to the high voltage hybrid system including problems with the battery cooling, continuing to charge instead of stopping at 100%, and high voltage faults. Coolant smell in the ventilation system in the cabin as well as hot electrical smell after charging and from the regenerative system on a long descent in the mountains. Has been happening multiple times and taken to the dealer multiple times over the past 10 months. The dealer has only replaced a part one time (the evaporative container), but typically just resets the system and sends it home. I have reported this to BMW NA and asked for a buyback, but so far it has been denied.

I am started to lease this car in August 2024. After 2 weeks, the car just halted, unable to move. Luckily this happened in my driveway. It took BMW more than 1 month to repair this. They had to change the combined charging unit with a different part number (upgraded part). At that time the car had roughly 200 miles on the odometer. In February of this year (2024), the car had a drivetrain fault, related to high voltage batteries. That time, it was still drivable but it did spend 2 more weeks at the dealership. Three weeks ago, I had another catastrophic failure with the car halting suddenly. This time, I was not as luck as the first time. It happened away from home. With no power at all, I was able to somehow park the vehicle. It got towed to the dealership again. I don’t have a diagnosis...

6 weeks after purchasing the car, the 'check engine' light came on. The dealer evaluated the car (although it took nearly 2 weeks to simply diagnose the issue) and found that the 'high voltage battery control module' was bad and needed replacement. Then, I waited 2 more weeks for the part to be shipped from Germany. Then, another 2 weeks waiting for installation. So - the car was in the service department for 6 weeks. Now, an alert has appeared on the dashboard - "Engine oil service required". The car only has 3920 miles on it. BMWs maintenance schedule requires the oil service to occur between 7 and 9K miles. This car has been a real disappointment.

I purchased a new BMW x5 50e in September 2023. It currently has 1601 miles. As I was getting onto the freeway onramp on 3/7/24, I felt the SUV losing power and got an error message (actually 2). The first message indicated the "High-voltage system," telling me I could continue driving but should have the system checked. The second message stated a "Drive train malfunction" and indicated roadside assistance was not needed. The error messages provided incorrect guidance as I lost all power to drive the SUV. I could drift the SUV over to the shoulder of the onramp. Fortunately, I had not fully gotten onto the freeway, or I could have been hit when the SUV lost power. The car had no power and would not drive. There was no warning of malfunction prior to the sudden loss of power and the simultaneous appearance of the warning message -...

I took ownership of the vehicle on 12/23/23 and Had a Drivetrain and High Voltage warning on 1/13/24. Dealer took vehicle on 1/18/24 with approximately 925 miles and returned vehicle on 1/22/24. On 1/25/24 I now have a check engine light on. I am not sure what can be done to fix this, but I am very concerned that this will be an ongoing issue with no resolution.

Purchased a new 2024 BMW xDRIVE 50e on 9/23/2024, then on 9/28/2023 X5 50e did not start due to Drivetrain Malfunction and had to be flat towed to dealer. Its been 108 days (1/16/2024) since X5 has been in for repairs due to BMU (Battery Management Unit). With a new part from Germany, Service Department with BMWNA technical assistance have not been able to resolve problem. BMWNA has reluctantly initiated a Buyback of vehicle this month. According to BMW forum (Bimmerpost) this is a chronic and systematic problem with many owners registering the same problem and looking for solutions. BMW needs to initiate a Recall or send out a TSB (Technical Service Bulletin) to all dealer to make them aware of this chronic problem.

Drivetrain malfunction error that disabled the vehicle. Software update done by dealer, but dealer is unsure if that is the repair. Many other owners of the 50e are having issues. All are related to the high voltage battery system. Car will not operate when error occurs. BMW has refused to publish a TSB.

BMW of North America is hiding problems with brand new vehicles. Their German website returns at least 2 recall codes for my car and the US website states there are none, yet my car has been in the service department just days after taking delivery until now which is a month later with no repair or solution in sight..
