NHTSA Complaint #11711468 — 2018 RAM 2500

The contact's son owns a 2018 Ram 2500. While the son was driving at an undisclosed speed, the brake pedal was depressed; however, the vehicle failed to stop as intended. The vehicle eventually slowed down and came to a complete stop. The contact stated that several warning lights were illuminated. The owner had received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 24V896000 (Service Brakes, Hydraulic); however, parts were not yet available for the recall repair. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, where it was diagnosed with a failed Hydraulic Electronic Unit Control. The contact's son was advised to contact the dealer for assistance. The dealer was made aware of the failure. The contact's son was informed that the vehicle was not a pickup. The contact's son was informed that the repair could be performed now if the vehicle was not a pickup. In addition, the contact's son was offered the option to pay out of pocket for the repair and wait to be reimbursed when the remedy became available. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The contact's son was informed that the parts were only available for pickup trucks. The contact's son was informed that he could pay out of pocket for the repair and wait for reimbursement. The contact stated that the vehicle had been inoperable since November 2024. The failure mileage was unknown.
