The contact owns a 2013 Ford Edge. The contact stated that the backup prevention camera occasionally went blank while attempting to reverse, and operated as designed occasionally. The message “Camera Unavailable” was displayed. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who was unable to duplicate the failure. The contact called the local dealer and was referred to the Ford Recall center for assistance. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was contacted and referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 50,000.
