NHTSA Complaint #11660897 — 2019 FORD EXPEDITION

The contact owns a 2019 Ford Expedition. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, an abnormal rattling sound was coming from the engine. The check engine warning light was illuminated, and DTC: P0014; was displayed. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the timing chain and cam phasers had failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The vehicle was then taken to the local dealer where it was confirmed that the timing chain and cam phasers had failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but denied assistance in covering the cost of the repair. The contact was referred to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 113,000.
