NHTSA Complaint #11657549 — 2015 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 1500

The contact called on behalf of his son who owns a 2015 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated that while his son was driving 20 MPH, while depressing the brake pedal the brake pedal was very stiff. There was no warning light illuminated. The contact’s son was able to continue safely driving to the residence. The local dealer was not contacted, and the vehicle was not diagnosed. The contact who is a mechanic diagnosed the vehicle with vacuum pump failure. The contact repaired the vehicle. The contact referenced NHTSA Campaign Number: 19V645000 (SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC); as possible cause for the failure. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 180,000.
