NHTSA Complaint #11643533 — 2015 FORD FOCUS

The contact owns a 2015 Ford Focus. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the transmission unexpectedly downshifted. The failure occurred on several occasions. The message that the "Transmission was Overheating" was displayed on the instrument panel; however, there were no warning lights illuminated. The contact pulled over and allowed the vehicle to cool down for several minutes and the vehicle returned to normal operation. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed and determined that the clutch assembly needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 99,000.
