NHTSA Complaint #11617687 — 2015 FORD EDGE

The contact owns a 2015 Ford Escape. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the "Steering Assist Fault Service Required", message was displayed. The contact stated that due to the failure, excessive effort was needed to steer the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where corrosion was found on the steering gear bolts. The contact was then informed by the mechanic of NHTSA Campaign Number: 15V250000 (Steering). The dealer and the manufacturer were notified of the failure and informed the contact that the vehicle was not included in the recall. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 79,024.
