Consumer Description

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 FORD EDGE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE GEAR SHIFTER STICK WAS PLACED IN THE DRIVE POSITION AND AN UNKNOWN BEEPING SOUND WAS HEARD. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE DOORS UNLOCKED INDEPENDENTLY AND A MESSAGE ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL INSTRUCTED THE CONTACT TO PARK THE VEHICLE IMMEDIATELY. THE DOOR AJAR WARNING LIGHT FOR THE DRIVER SIDE ILLUMINATED. IN ADDITION, THE DOME LIGHTS ILLUMINATED INDEPENDENTLY AND COULD NOT BE SWITCHED OFF. THE FAILURE RECURRED INTERMITTENTLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE DOOR AJAR SWITCH IN THE DOOR HANDLE FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 55,000.
