Voss Toyota would not perform the recall of new leaf springs that has not been completed on my truck. The frame is rusty and they will not touch my truck. There should be an existing recall or customer satisfaction program on the frame of this truck that needs done as well.
I took my 2006 Toyota Tacoma ext cab 4x4 v6 to have diagnostic run on it . "EXACT PERFORMANCE " Johnson drive . KCK The differential was shot . However , that was not the final . They did not do full diagnostic . They informed me that my frame was rotted and rusted through and would not last till spring and was a safety hazard. That was Dec. 2024 . The truck has been parked since . Ive had no transportation and can not run right out and buy another truck . I am also not willing to give up the truck either . I have put a lot of hard earned money into this truck believing it to last forever . The motor and train are sound . I do not want to junk the truck . Please , tell me what I can do . Yes ....
The frame of my 2006 Toyota Tacoma (VIN: [XXX] ) is severely corroded and compromised. I recently acquired the vehicle and discovered that it was part of a past Toyota recall/program for frame corrosion inspection and replacement. However, it appears the previous owner did not take the vehicle in for the service. The frame now shows advanced rust and structural weakness, which puts my safety and the safety of others at risk. I am concerned that the recall program was not adequately communicated or tracked, and I am requesting that the NHTSA review this issue for potential reopening or expansion of coverage for affected vehicles like mine. The truck's frame has severely rusted. The frame has deteriorated. It is unsafe to drive as the frame is breaking in half. According to Toyota, this was a huge problem with the 2006 Tacoma. They will not fix the frame or offer any solution. My son can not safely drive this vehicle.
There are holes in the frame and the frame mounts. Sold with a clean title
This truck is for sale in Oregon with HOLES/RUST on the frame and the frame mount. It is being sold with a clean title which clearly with the frame damage it is considered a branded title. The car lot that is selling the truck will no disclose the frame issue when asked about the structure damage on the truck. BUYERS BEWARE!!!

The contact stated that after the vehicle was taken to a local dealer for unrelated repairs, the mechanic determined that the rear subframe needed to be replaced. The contact was made aware of NHTSA Campaign Number: 14V604000 (Suspension); however, the VIN was not included in the recall. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 178,000. The VIN was not available.
I will try to give you as concise statement of my complaint as possible, however, I have copies I sent to the manufacturer and others that I'm willing to furnish you if requested. On 3/18/21, I wrote to Toyota's Executive VP , Chief Quality Officer, [XXX], stating my compliance with their notice of 7/9/15, requiring frame inspection, significant perforation not found, therefore they applied CRC corrosion resistant compound to my frame. As NO critical problem was noted, I felt I was good until during a later inspection was performed and rated more attention. On 3/29/21 during my next oil change I noted on a notation on an unusual service bill, typewritten not the usual custom printed type, a notation that I have 2 holes, approx. 3.5" on my frame, use caution if driving". At this time I found there was an open class action suit against Toyota. Toyota advised me...
The frame is rusted so bad. The dealer wouldn’t replace due to the vehicle being registered in Florida as it’s not one of the states affected. But my Toyota came from a Pennsylvania dealer first then shipped to Florida after years of being in Pennsylvania and not having an issue up there. Now I’m stuck with a truck I can’t sell or fix. It’s not right. Where is the quality control on this.

The contact stated upon taking the vehicle to an independent mechanic for front brake repair, she was informed that the front side of the subframe and the passenger's side and the driver's side subframe were severely corroded. The dealer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that she would need to pay for the repair because an unknown Extended Warranty related to the failure had expired. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but did not provide any assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 70,000.
The frame of the vechile completely rusted, not normally rusted, its obvious that cheap or bad quality material. If it goes like this will break soon.

Upon inspection, his father was informed that the recall could not be performed due to the extensive corrosion on the frame of the vehicle. He was also informed that the vehicle was unsafe to drive and was given an estimate of $16,000 for the repair. The manufacturer was then notified of the failure and offered no assistance. The vehicle had yet to be repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 128,000.
My frame rusted and broke into where spring hanger bolts to the frame. They are saying n was recalled but time has ran out but I did not receive a recall notice as we moved to another area of the state ( Ashtabula) where we bought a shop for our oilfield business then we moved to ( Cambridge ) and are now renting our first home from my daughter who bought it in New Concord. Sad thing is we had it to repair shop and had new steering, power steering pump, new front axles and no one said hey you should look at this frame it is rotten and I have a picture I can send you if you'd like.So it is totally broke into and the spring hanger is not attached and pushed the bed up and the driver nearly wrecked and we had to haul it back on...

BROKEN REAR LEAF SPRING ASSEMBLY: THIS PROBLEM HAS BEEN KNOWN IN TOYOTAS SINCE THE FIRST GENERATION TACOMAS BUT WORSE IN THE SECOND GENERATION. THE LEAF SPRINGS AREN'T PROPERLY EQUIPPED TO HANDLE THE TOWING CAPACITY OUTLINED IN THE OWNER'S MANUAL AND WILL CRACK, FLATTEN, OR BREAK UNDER TOO MUCH WEIGHT. I WAS TOLD BY THE DEALER THAT IT NEEDED REPLACED ON 11/7/2016. TOYOTA ADDRESSED THIS ISSUE IN 2007 BY RELEASING A TSB STATING THAT THEY'D REPLACE THE SPRINGS ON ANY SECOND-GEN TACOMA STILL UNDER WARRANTY. I BOUGHT MINE IN 2006. I HAVE LIVED IN THE SAME LOCATION FOR OVER 25 YEARS.*DT CONSUMER DISCOVERED DEALERSHIP DID PERFORM THE REPAIRS AND WOULD LIKE COMPLAINT TO BE CANCELLED.*JB
THIS SHOULD BE A MANDATORY RECALL. THIS IS DANGEROUS AND SHOULD BE LOOKED AT THAT WAY PEOPLE HAVE HAD THEIR FRAMES BROKEN IN HALF. THE WORST DAMAGE ON MINE IS DRIVER'S SIDE UP FRONT THERE IS ALSO RUST NEAR THE REAR MY TRUCK RECENTLY HAD REAR SPRINGS REPLACED ON A RECALL. THEY SHOULD HAVE NOTICED IT THEY SAID NOTHING ABOUT IT, THE FRONT TIRES HAVE BEEN REPLACED SEVERAL TIMES AT THE SAME DEALERSHIP SHOULD HAVE BEEN EASY TO NOTICE THE DAMAGE AT FRONT DIDN'T MENTION IT. THE CONTACT CALLED AND TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE ARLINGTON TOYOTA LOCATED AT 10939 ATLANTIC BLVD, JACKSONVILLE, FL 32225, AND AFTER TWO WEEKS, THE TECHNICIAN STATED THAT THE FRAME WAS RUSTED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED PRIOR TO THE RECALL REPAIRS BEING PERFORMED. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS UNSAFE TO DRIVE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 136,100.

THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE TECHNICIAN ALSO INFORMED THE CONTACT ABOUT AN UNKNOWN FRAME RECALL THAT HAD EXPIRED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE FRAME WAS RUSTED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE BUT, OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE. EXCESSIVE CORROSION AND RUSTED THROUGH FRAME THAT IS UNABLE TO SUPPORT WEIGHT OF VEHICLE. HAD A BRAKE LINE BUST DUE TO BEING RUSTED OR CORRODED OUT. ALSO SUSPENSION SHOWS EXCESSIVE RUST AND CORROSION. COOLING LINES CORRODED. POWER STEERING LINES CORRODED. TRANSMISSION LINES CORRODED. ANY METAL LINE IS THAT'S ATTACHED TO THIS VEHICLE ARE CORRODED. AND ALL BRACKETS AND HARDWARE ATTACHED TO FRAME AND EVEN THE METAL PULLEYS ALL EXCESSIVELY CORRODED.
WHEN INSPECTING THE LEAF SPRING REPLACEMENT FROM A RECALL, FOUND THE FRAME CORRODED TO THE POINT THAT IT WILL FAIL. (SEE PHOTO). TOYOTA HAD A RECALL ON THESE FRAMES AND THIS TRUCK FELL UNDER THE GUIDELINES.WHEN I CONTACTED TOYOTA THEY SAID THIS WAS AN EXTENDED WARRANTY AND HAD EXPIRED.SAID THEY SENT NOTIFICATION WHICH I NEVER RECEIVED. *TR
THIS VEHICLE IS COVERED IN THE TOYOTA RUSTY FRAME LAWSUIT. AS SUCH, IT HAS BEEN INSPECTED BY 2 DIFFERENT DEALERS AND DEEMED NOT TO NEED A FRAME REPLACEMENT BOTH TIMES. IT WAS TREATED WITH CRC. ITS LAST INSPECTION WAS IN NOVEMBER OF 2018. ON SUNDAY, MAY 17TH, 2020, THE FRAME BROKE AT THE FRONT CROSS-MEMBER CAUSING THE LEFT FRONT LOWER CONTROL ARM TO SEPARATE AND STEERING THE VEHICLE/CONTROLLING THE VEHICLE BECAME NEAR IMPOSSIBLE. FORTUNATELY FOR ME, THIS HAPPENED IN A PARKING LOT BACKING OUT OF A PARKING SPACE AND TURNING LEFT (IN REVERSE AT LOW SPEED) AFTER A FULL 2 WEEKS OF DRIVING IN THE MOUNTAINS OF WEST VIRGINIA. I QUESTION ALL INSPECTIONS OF FRAMES BEING PERFORMED WITHIN THE TOYOTA DEALER NETWORK AND HOPE THAT NOBODY HAS THIS FAILURE WHILE THEY ARE DRIVING AT SPEED AS THE RESULTS WILL BE CATASTROPHIC. *TR
THE SUBJECT VEHICLES' REAR SUSPENSION SYSTEM CONTAINS LEAF SPRINGS THAT ARE CONSTRUCTED OF EITHER THREE OR FOUR LEAVES. THERE IS A POSSIBILITY THAT A LEAF COULD FRACTURE DUE TO STRESS AND CORROSION. IF THIS OCCURS AND THE VEHICLE CONTINUES TO BE OPERATED, THE BROKEN LEAF COULD MOVE OUT OF POSITION AND CONTACT SURROUNDING COMPONENTS, INCLUDING THE FUEL TANK. SAFETY RISK: IF THE BROKEN LEAF CONTACTS THE FUEL TANK REPEATEDLY, IT COULD PUNCTURE THE TANK AND CAUSE A FUEL LEAK. IN THE PRESENCE OF AN IGNITION SOURCE, THIS COULD RESULT IN A FIRE. REMEDY: TOYOTA WILL REPLACE THE LEAF SPRINGS WITH NEWLY DESIGNED ONES. IT HAS BEEN REPAIRED I NEED TO HAVE IT SHIPPED OFF ISLAND ASAP

REAR LEAF SPRING, RECALL: 14V-604. ON JULY 10TH OF 2016 I MADE A CALL TO ELK GROVE TOYOTA IN REGARDS TO THE RECALL. THE SERVICE WRITER ASK ME IF MY TRUCK HAD A LEVEL KIT INSTALLED ? I TOLD HIM YES, 2'. HE TOLD ME IT VOIDED THE RECALL. I DID SONE RESEARCH AND FOUND MANY CUSTOMERS HAD THE SAME SITUATION, BUT OTHERS DID NOT. THEIR DEALERSHIP REPLACED AND TOOK CARE OF THE RECALL EVEN WITH A LEVEL KIT INSTALLED. IN DIFFERENT PARTS OF THE STATES AND COUNTRY. I CALLED AGAIN ON 3/25/19 TO ELK GROVE TOYOTA AGAIN AND WAS TOLD THE SAME. MY RECALL IS VOID BECAUSE OF THE LEVEL KIT. THE DEALERSHIP IS IN ELK GROVE, CA. IF THEY WON'T PERFORM THE RECALL IS THERE A WAY I CAN HAVE ANOTHER SHOP PERFORM THE RECALL AND TOYOTA PAID THEM ? PLEASE ADVICE

TOYOTA WARRANTY FOR REPAIR EXPIRED 31 JANUARY 2019 AND VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO TOYOTA 2 MONTHS LATER AND TOYOTA WILL NOT HONOR REPAIR. VERY DISAPPOINTING ON TOYOTAS END. BUENA PARK TOYOTA REFUSES TO FIX THE RECALL ON MY TRUCK. THEY SAY IT BECAUSE I DON'T HAVE THE ORIGINAL SHOCKS. MY TRUCK WAS PURCHASED FROM BUENA PARK TOYOTA AS A CERTIFIED USED VEHICLE AND I HAVEN'T MADE ANY CHANGES TO THE TRUCK. THE WAY IT SITS NOW IS THE WAY I BOUGHT IT FROM THE DEALERSHIP AS A CERTIFIED VEHICLE. THE REAR LEAF SPRING HAS HIT THE FUEL TAKE A FEW TIMES AND BOTTOMS OUT ON EVERY LITTLE BUMP (WHICH IS WHAT THE RECALL IS FOR) AND EVERYTHING ON THE REAR SUSPENSION IS EXACTLY THE WAY IT CAME FROM TOYOTA. THEY TOLD ME IF I WANTED TO HAVE THE ITEMS REPLACED I WOULD HAVE TO PUT ALL THE OEM STUFF BACK ON THE VEHICLE BUT THAT'S THE WAY THIS DEALER SOLD IT TO ME.

EXCESSIVE RUST ORIGINAL DISCOVERY OCCURRED DURING LEAF SPRING REPLACEMENT RECALL SERVICE IN PENNSYLVANIA IN 2016 OR EARLY 2017. EXACT DATE CAN BE DETERMINED FROM DEALER SERVICE RECORDS BY VIN. PIN HOLE(S) DISCOVERED WHEN REPLACING EXHAUST SYSTEM. BROUGHT THE VEHICLE TO THE TOYOTA DEALERSHIP SERVICE DEPARTMENT TO BE INSPECTED. DEALER SERVICE DEPARTMENT THE VEHICLE UNSAFE TO DRIVE.

REAR OR TRUCK IS SAGGING AN LEAF SPRING ON DRIVER SIDE IS RUBBING GAS TANK
I WAS FIRST NOTIFIED FROM TOYOTA VIA MAIL OF A RECALL ON MY TRUCK AROUND NOV 2016. I'VE SPENT FROM THEM UNTIL NOW TRYING TO GET CAIN TOYOTA OF NORTH CANTON OHIO TO DO THE REPAIR. I WAS TOLD SEVERAL TIMES THEY HAD TO ORDER THE PARTS. I ALSO EXPLAINED TO THEM THERE IS AN "ADD A LEAF" ON MY TRUCK. THE TRUCK IS LIFTED 3". I SAID I'M NOT PAYING FOR ANYTHING HERE THIS IS A FULL RECALL UNDER TOYOTA. WE SCHEDULED AN APPOINTMENT FOR JULY 7TH AT 7:30AM. I GET THERE AND THEY REFUSE TO DO THE WORK WITHOUT ME PAYING DUE TO THE "ADD A LEAF". THEY HAVE WASTED 9 MONTHS WITH THIS AS MYSELF, MY WIFE AND 3 YOUNG CHILDREN RIDE IN THIS TRUCK EVERYDAY! TOOK MY TRUCK TO DEALERSHIP FOR LEAF SPRING RECALL. THEY CHECKED VIN ,AND GAVE ME A COURTESY CAR WHILE THEY DO THE WOR. THEY CALLED ME LATER IN DAY AND SAID THEY WONT DO IT DUE TO MY TRUCK BEING MODIFIED (LIFTED). NOW YES MY TRUCK IS LIFTED, HOWEVER THERE IS NO MODIFICATION TO THE SPRINGS. THERE IS BLOCKS IN THE REAR THAT SIMPLY LET THE SPRINGS MOUNT ON THE TOP OF THE BLOCK INSTEAD OF THE TOP OF THE AXLE AND DOES NOT AFFECT OR CHANGE ANY DYNAMICS OR FUNCTION TO THE SPRINGS. I DONT FEEL THIS IS RIGHT,WITH THIS BEING A LIFE SAFTEY ISSUE. MY TRUCK IS PART OF THE RECALL AND MY SPRINGS ARE WEEK AND A SAFTEY HAZZARD.
