2020 TOYOTA CAMRY Engine Problems

While driving the car just shut-off in the middle of the road. If you tried to restart the car it would turn on rev the engine and shut off. The dash display displayed a message " precollision system malfunction" and "secondary brake collision malfunction". Safety wise if this had happened on the highway could have been very dangerous or worse. The car was inoperable and required a tow truck. Luckily we were not on a very busy road during the incident. The problem has been replicated and is currently being tested at Joe Meyers Toyota in Houston, Texas. When the message displayed on the dash, check engine light came on as well as the brake light on the dash.

It’s reading the LDA warning lights, secondary collision break malfunction, pre collision break malfunction, check engine light. Car is misfiring and could possibly cut off in mid traffic. Dealer said that the Motor has a cracked head gasket. There were no problems prior to these issues.

I went a few months ago to Toyota to get an air flow valve replaced from a safety campaign for Toyota. My car engine light came on. Afterwards it never went off. My car shuts off after getting gas . Car doesn’t start for 20 mins. Coolant is leaking . Car idling high as if the valve that was replaced was faulty. The car acts like it’s gonna shut off. I take good care of my car & several people have the same complaints please investigate this. I don’t have the money to replace something that isn’t my fault.

My 2020 Camry has been nothing but a problem and Toyota is noncompliant with helping me. The service recall for the fuel pump was fixed at Vaughn Toyota in Bastrop La .. a week later I still had the same issues. They refused to put another fuel pump on my car even thought the fuel pump had a one year warranty. I then took it to Landers in Little Rock and since I had “codes” I had to pay $180 diagnostic fee. This vehicle, and models with the same throttle body and air filter/air duct assembly have an issue. Where plastic parts from the vacuum box attached to the air duct come loose and get stuck in the throttle body. Causing the engine to rev up then die. This was a recall due to the coolant valve Thursday, my vehicle had went in for the recall I picked up my vehicle Friday morning I checked to make sure the part that they have changed nothing wrong with it or not. Low pressure fuel pump defective. Engine dies and/or surges under load at cruise speeds, sometimes dies at idle. Engine shuts down merging onto highway. I had a feeling sick while driving my car. I placed a smoke and carbon monoxide detector in the cabin. The detector went off. I tried different things windows up windows down, recuperate open and close and detector alarmed. I brought my car to Doggett Toyota they found a leak in engine that was running to exhaust. I paid for $117 for estimate and $337 for part. The service department is pressing me to let them use my carbon monoxide detector. I refuse. 2020 Camry has 34000 miles and the engine maintenance required comes on. The dealer says it is the coolant bypass valve. They will replace it but after looking online there are many reports of this happening to toyotas with low mileage. Coolant can corrode the electric components.

I took it to my dealership on 5/22/2023 and was informed there’s a back order on the coolant bypass valve because it is a national issue. Did not happen to this vehicle, but others the same year. I am a tech who has seen multiple failures of the crankshaft position plate which is mounted between the flywheel and crankshaft brake causing engine to shut down while driving due to crank position sensor not receiving signal. I am concerned because my wife drives one which is the vin I gave, that her car may cut off in traffic causing a accident. This part is defective with holes cut around it where the new replacement part is solid.This should be replaced at no cost to customers when vehicle warranty coverage has run out. Dead battery at 21000 miles. Car is less than 2 years old and didn't drive it for 36 hours and the battery completely drained. Even after jump start electronic dash wouldn't function properly.

When I press the button to start my 2020 Camry it has difficulty starting. It chugs/lags. It also smells of coolant/antifreeze when this happens. It has done this since the day I leased it. I have taken the vehicle back to the dealership 3 times and each time I’m told that they hooked it up to their computer and can’t find anything wrong and they can’t replicate the problem. AFTER 2 DAYS PARKED IN GARAGE WITH LIGHTS OFF AND DOORS CLOSED THE CAR WOULDN'T START. AFTER JUMP STARING THE CAR IN THE SCREEN IN THE DASHBOARD A VIDEO WAS PLAYING STATING THAT AN ELECTRONIC BOARD IS AFFECTING THE ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION. THE CAR HAS JUST 15,500 MILES.
