AS I WAS DRIVING MY 2005 SATURN ION, MY MESSAGE CENTER CHIMED AND READ "PWR STR". I ATTEMPTED TO STEER AND NOTICED MY POWER STEERING WAS INOPERABLE. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 SATURN ION. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 50 MPH, THE VEHICLE HAD STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. THE FAILURE WAS RECURRING. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO RESTART THE VEHICLE EACH TIME. THE POWER STEERING WARNING LIGHT WAS ALSO ILLUMINATE EACH TIME THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER HOWEVER, THE DEALER STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 14V153000 (STEERING). THE CONTACT HAD EXPERIENCED THE SAME FAILURE AS THE RECALL. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 93000.
I WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AND MY POWER STEERING SENSOR CAME ON AND I HAD NO POWER STEERING. *TR
ON OCTOBER 31, AND NOVEMBER 1 OF 2013 I WAS TRAVELING APPROXIMATELY 40 MPH AND IN NEARLY THE SAME SPOT THE SATURN LOST COMPLETE POWER AND DIED. BOTH TIMES I WAS ABLE TO GET OFF THE ROAD. AFTER THE SECOND INCIDENT WE HAD IT TOWED TO A GARAGE WHERE THEY REPLACED THE BATTERY. I DID NOT DRIVE IT AGAIN AND CURRENTLY IT IS IN STORAGE AS I PURCHASED A NEW CAR. I DRIVE 350 MILES A WEEK TO WORK AND NEED DEPENDABLE TRANSPORTATION. WHEN THE RECALL CAME OUT WE REALIZED WE MAY HAVE HAD TROUBLE WITH THE IGNITION SWITCH FOR UP TO 2 YEARS. THERE WOULD BE TIMES WE WOULD SHUT THE CAR OFF BUT WOULD BE UNABLE TO TAKE THE KEY OUT. IT WOULD TAKE UP TO A MINUTE BEFORE CLICKING AND WE COULD REMOVE THE KEY. THAT WAS WHEN IT WAS IN THE OFF POSITION. *TR
AS I WAS DRIVING, SUDDENLY I HEARD THE CHIME IN THE CAR GO OFF A FEW TIMES RAPIDLY, AND AT THE SAME TIME THE POWER STEERING LIGHT ('PWR STR') CAME ON ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. I PROCEEDED TO GO STRAIGHT, THEN I HAD TO MAKE A LEFT TURN. AT THIS TIME I REALIZED THERE WAS NO POWER STEERING IN THE CAR, AND IT WAS VERY DIFFICULT TO TURN THE STEERING WHEEL. I CONTINUED TO HAVE A PROBLEM STEERING THE VEHICLE, AND I HAD TO FIND AN EMPTY AREA TO PARK THE VEHICLE. IT WAS A SCARY EXPERIENCE, AND AN UNSAFE SITUATION AS WELL. AFTER I PARKED THE CAR AND TURNED OFF THE VEHICLE, I STARTED IT AGAIN, AND THE POWER STEERING LIGHT WAS OFF. STEERING AFTER THAT WAS NORMAL. I AM VERY CONCERNED THAT THIS WILL HAPPEN AGAIN, COMPROMISING MY SAFETY AND OTHER VEHICLE OPERATORS IN MY VICINITY. *TR
WHILE DRIVING MY CAR MY POWER STEERING LOST POWER FOR A FEW SECONDS.THE POWER STEERING LIGHT CAME ON AND THE POWER LOCKS KINDA WENT CRAZY.IT WAS VERY FRIGHTENING AND I'M AFRAID IT MIGHT HAPPEN AGAIN WHILE DRIVING. *TR
WE BOUGHT OUR 2005 SATURN ION USED SEPT. 4, 2012,(87,812) BEFORE EVEN COULD TAKE OFF LOT THEY HAD TO INSTALL AN IGNITION CYLINDER AND CUT NEW KEY, AND THE THROTTLE WAS STUCK COULD PRESS ALL THE WAY TO FLOOR, AND WOULD ONLY GET UP TO ABOUT 20MPH. THIS WAS ALSO FIXED. (OR SO WE THOUGHT). SINCE OUR PURCHASE, WE STILL HAVE TROUBLE WITH THE KEY GETTING STUCK, IT NOT TURNING OFF WITH CAR STILL RUNNING, OR THE CAR WON'T START, IT HAPPENS SO MUCH THAT OUR DAUGHTER WHO DRIVES IT JUST FIGURES THAT'S THEY WAY IT'S SUPPOSE TO BE, BECAUSE WHEN TAKE BACK TO DEALER EITHER IT WON'T DO IT FOR THEM OR DOESN'T DO IT FOR A MONTH OR SO. NOW THE WARRANTY HAS RAN OUT SO IF IT HAPPENS AGAIN THEY TOLD US WE HAD TO TAKE CARE OF, WELL IT HAPPENED AGAIN TODAY, SHE PARKED WOULD NOT...
I WAS DRIVING OFF THE HIGHWAY AND THE POWER STEERING TURNED OFF COMPLETELY WHILE I WAS DRIVING. THIS COULD BE SO DIFFERENT TO PEOPLE WHO DON'T KNOW HOW TO HANDLE A CAR WITHOUT POWER STEERING.... *TR
ONE DAY I WAS DRIVING AND HAVE BEEN NOTICING THAT THE STEERING WHEEL WAS STARTING TO GET HARDER AND HARDER WHEN TURNING. I FEAR THIS BECAUSE IN NOT THAT STRONG AND FEAR I MIGHT CRASHED AND HURT MY THREE KIDS. THE STEERING COOLANT LIGHT COMES ON AND THAT MAKE ME WONDER ABOUT THAT TOO, WHEN I TURN I HAVE TO BE IN STRONG MODE OR I MIGHT BE IN AN ACCIDENT. CAN GM PLEASE FIX THIS PROBLEM. *TR
MAKING A LEFT HAND TURN THE AUTOMOBILE SHUT OFF AND ON DASH DISPLAY READ PWR STEERING COOLANT THE CAR WAS DIFFICULT TO STEER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. ONCE PULLED TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD I TURNED THE KEY OVER AND INSTANTLY THE CAR WAS LIKE NEW DRIVING OK TILL I GOT HOME. GOOGLED THE PROBLEM AND SAW MANY POWER STEERING COMPLAINTS ON THE SATURN IONS. *TR
POWER STEERING WARNING APPEARED AFTER STARTING CAR. IMMEDIATELY POWER STEERING SHUTDOWN WHICH CAUSED DIFFICULTY WITH STEERING AND CONTROLLING THE VEHICLE. *TR
THE POWER STEERING ASSIST WOULD NOT WORK ON SEVERAL OCCASION. WE HAD RECEIVED A LETTER FROM SATURN STATING IF THE POWER STEERING ASSIST LIGHT COMES ON AND THE POWER STEERING FAILS TO WORK, BRING IT TO OUR LOCAL GM DEALER FOR A RECALL. APPARENTLY THEY HAVE BEEN HAVING PROBLEMS WITH NOT ONLY THE SATURNS, BUT SEVERAL OTHER OF THEIR AUTOMOBILES. WE TOOK THE CAR IN ON JUNE 14, 2013, WE WERE TOLD BY THE DEALER THAT THEY FIXED THE PROBLEM. THEN IN THE BEGINNING OF AUGUST THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM HAPPENED AGAIN. MY DAUGHTER BROUGHT THE CAR INTO THE DEALER AGAIN, THEY INDICATED BEFORE SHE EVER SAT DOWN THAT IF THIS WAS A DIFFERENT PROBLEM SHE WOULD HAVE TO PAY FOR IT. I THOUGHT THAT WAS ODD. IT WAS DOING THE EXACT SAME THING. THEY MADE HER WAIT AN HOUR TO TELL HER THAT SHE NEEDED TO HAVE THE STEERING...
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 SATURN ION. THE CONTACT STATED THAT AFTER STARTING THE VEHICLE, THE POWER STEERING ASSIST MALFUNCTIONED. THE VEHICLE WAS DIAGNOSED AND THE POWER STEERING ASSIST MOTOR WAS REPLACED BUT THE DEFECT WAS NOT REMEDIED. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE POWER STEERING ASSIST CONTROL MODULE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED ALSO IN ORDER TO REMEDY THE DEFECT. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND NO SOLUTION WAS OFFERED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 105,000.
I WAS DRIVING AND THE POWER STEERING LIGHT WENT ON AS DID THEIR CHECK ENGINE LIGHT..THE CAR WAS VERY HARD TO DRIVE..I HAD IT IN AND TO A GM DEALER--THEY SAID BY THE TIME I DROVE IT UP (40 MILES)CAR DIDN'T DO IT AGAIN..WHILE UP THERE THEY COULD NOT FIND PROBLEM AND SAID BECAUSE THE LIGHT WOULDN'T GO ON FOR THEM--THEY WANTED TO CHARGE ME $98..I HAD BEEN IN TOUCH WITH GM IN MICH.THEY HELPED ME GET THE POWER STEERING MOTOR REPLACED.AT NO CHARGE.I HAVE HAD THE CAR HOME FOR ABOUT 1 WEEK--AND THE SAME THING HAPPENED AS I WAS DRIVING ON 10-02-13-POWER STEERING LIGHT WENT ON..SO I HAD TO SIGN A STATEMENT IF IT HAPPENED AGAIN THEY WOULD NOT BE RESPONSIBLE IF NOT THERE FAULT..WHAT A SAFETY HAZARD..I BOUGHT THE CAR BRAND NEW AND NEVER HAD TROUBLE EXCEPT FOR THIS--WHICH IT'S LIKE NOT HAVING A CAR..IN TOUCH WITH GM...

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE THE MECHANIC STATED THAT THE POWER STEERING COLUMN HAD TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 157,000. THE APPROXIMATE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 159,000.
ON JUNE 14TH WE WERE GOING ALONG ABOUT 60 MPH THE FIRST TIME DOWN TO SALEM, OREGON. ALL OF A SUDDEN THE POWER STEERING LIGHT COMES ON. IT'S HARD TO STEER AND WE TURN OFF THE CAR IN NEUTRAL THEN TURN IT BACK ON. IT THEN COMES BACK ON HALFWAY BETWEEN THE 45 MINUTE DRIVE. WE DO THE SAME THING AGAIN. ON FRIDAY THE 14TH IT HAPPENS 4X. IT HAPPENS INTERMITTENTLY. ONE TIME IT WAS REAL BAD THE LIGHT CAME ON, AND WAS TURNING INTO THE PARKING SPOT FOR OUR APARTMENT AT 5MPH. IT WAS SO HARD TO TURN THE WHEEL TO GET THE CAR PARKED. IT DIDN'T HAPPEN MUCH FOR ABOUT A WEEK. HERE AND THERE, I DID THE SAME THING TURNED THE CAR OFF THEN BACK ON. NOW, IT'S HAPPENING MORE OFTEN. THIS SHOULD BE SOMETHING THAT GM NEEDS TO FIX AND REPLACE WHAT EVER IS WRONG, AND...

THE CONTACT TURNED THE VEHICLE OFF FOR APPROXIMATELY TEN MINUTES AND ONCE RESTARTED, THE VEHICLE RESUMED NORMALLY. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER. LOSS OF STEERING WHILE TURNING. RESULTED IN A CRASH AND OVER $2000.00 IN DAMAGE. CAR IS NOT DRIVEABLE. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 SATURN ION. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE IGNITION FAILED. WHEN THE KEY WAS INSERTED INTO THE IGNITION, THE STEERING WHEEL SEIZED AND THE ENGINE FAILED TO START. THE FAILURE WAS EXPERIENCED NUMEROUS TIMES. THE DEALER REPLACED THE KEY CODE HOWEVER, THE FAILURE WAS NOT CORRECTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 97,000. KMJ

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A PRIVATE MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE POWER STEERING MOTOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 69,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. *TR
I WAS TURNING AT AN INTERSECTION AND POWER STEERING WENT OUT. AS THE POWER STEERING WENT OUT A WARNING CAME ACROSS THE DASH. I JUST BOUGHT THE CAR ON FEBRUARY 14, 2013 USED. *TR
THE POWER STEERING FAILED WHILE DRIVING THE CAR AND A MESSAGE APPEARED ON THE DRIVER'S INFORMATION PANEL; I HAD TO APPLY A LOT OF FORCE ON THE STEERING WHEEL IN ORDER TO CONTROL THE CAR. THIS IS HAPPENING NOW EVERYTIME I DRIVE THE CAR AND IT HAPPENS RANDOMLY WHILE DRIVING. *TR

DRIVING ON THE WAY TO WORK THIS MORNING, THE POWER STEERING WENT OUT THREE TIMES! TWICE ON A REGULAR HIGHWAY AND ONCE ON THE INTERSTATE. GOING 45 MPH SUDDENLY BELL SOUNDED AND PWR STEER LIGHT CAME ON AND IMMEDIATELY THE POWER STEERING WENT OFF. I WAS ABLE TO GET THE CAR TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD, BUT WOULD NOT HAVE BEEN ABLE TO TURN IT, BECAUSE THE STEERING BECOMES, NOT QUITE MANUAL, SURELY MUCH HARDER THAN THE MANUAL MODE I WELL REMEMBER. WHEN I CUT OFF THE MOTOR AND RESTARTED, THE STEERING RETURNED TO NORMAL. ON THE INTERSTATE, I WAS GOING 62 MPH WHEN THE STEERING WENT OUT. PULLED OVER TO AN EXIT LANE, STOPPED AND RESTARTED AND EVERYTHING WORKED AGAIN. VERY DANGEROUS! I DON'T KNOW HOW MANY CARS HAVE BEEN STOPPED ON THE ROAD, AND A CAR COMING FAILED TO SEE THAT THEY WERE STOPPED AND SLAMMED INTO...
DRIVING AT 55 MPH ON A STRAIGHT SECTION OF HIGHWAY 703, THE POWER STEERING WARNING CAME ON AND I LOST THE POWER STEERING. I PULLED OVER WITH NO POWER STEERING, TURNED OFF THE VEHICLE THEN RESTARTED THE ERROR CLEARED AND I HAD POWER STEERING AGAIN. I CAN'T TRUST THAT THIS WON'T HAPPEN AGAIN AT A MUCH MORE DANGEROUS PLACE AND AT A SLOWER SPEED WHICH WOULD MAKE THE VEHICLE MUCH HARDER TO CONTROL. *TR
THE KEY GETS STUCK IN THE IGNITION, THIS HAS BEEN A PROBLEM FOR 2 YEARS, OFTEN HAVE TO LEAVE THE CAR WITH THE KEY IN (THIS IS VERY UNSAFE). TODAY THE KEY WAS STUCK AND WOULD NOT TURN, I COULD NOT TURN THE CAR OFF --- THIS IS AN EXTREMELY UNSAFE SITUATION. *TR

THE STEERING WHEEL BECAME DIFFICULT TO MANEUVER AND THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO PULL OVER. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 89,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 92,000.

WAS DRIVING MY CAR OUT OF MY DRIVEWAY AND 2 BLOCKS AWAY THE POWER STEERING FAILED AS I WAS MAKING A TURN IN A BUSY INTERSECTION. LUCKILY IT WAS AT AN OFF TIME AT NIGHT OTHERWISE THE OUTCOME WOULD HAVE BEEN A LOT WORSE. WAS ABLE TO PULL OFF TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. *JS
I WAS PULLING OUT OF MY PARKING SPACE AND THE POWER-STEERING FUNCTION STOPPED WORKING. *JS
POWER STEERING FAILS WHILE DRIVING INTERMITTENT FAILURE. *TR
LOSS OF POWER STEERING DURING HIGHWAY SPEED. PULLED OVER AND RESTARTED CAR, POWER STEERING CAME BACK ON THEN STOPPED AGAIN. EVER SINCE THIS INCIDENT HAS OCCURRED THE POWER STEERING WILL RANDOMLY SHUT OFF. THIS COULD BE A DANGEROUS SITUATION WHEN IT OCCURS DURING MAKING TURNS OR DRIVING SHARP CURVY ROADS AS IT TAKES A LOT OF UPPER BODY STRENGTH TO TURN THE WHEEL AT LOWER SPEEDS. *TT
WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY A WARNING LIGHT CAME ON AND I COMPLETELY LOST MY POWER ASSIST STEERING. IT WAS HARD TO TURN THE STEERING WHEEL. I PULLED OVER AND TURNED THE KEY OFF AND WHEN I TURNED THE KEY BACK ON THE STEERING ASSIST WORKED AGAIN. SINCE THE FIRST INCIDENT IT HAS HAPPENED MULTIPLE TIMES. SATURN CUSTOMER SERVICE WAS NO HELP IN GETTING THIS FIXED. *TR
THE CAR WAS TRAVELING STRAIGHT WHEN THE POWER STEERING FAILED, AND THE INFORMATION CENTER DISPLAYED "PWR STR" TURNED ENGINE OFF, PUT IN NEUTRAL, RESTARTED ENGINE, AND POWER STEERING WORKED. HAPPENED ABOUT 2 HOURS LATER AS WELL. *TR
DRIVING DOWN FREEWAY AND WARNING LIGHT CAME ON AND LOST POWER STEERING. VERY VERY DIFFICULT TO STEER. LUCKILY HUSBAND WAS DRIVING BECAUSE WIFE COULD NOT HAVE MUSCLED.
WITH LESS THAN 60,000 MILES ON THE CAR, THE POWER STEERING LIGHT DISPLAYED ON DASH AND POWER STEERING WAS NO LONGER WORKING. ONCE PARKING AND RESTARTING THE CAR, THE STEERING SEEMED TO BE WORKING AS WE DROVE AROUND THE NEIGHBORHOOD AND THEN YET AGAIN LESS THAN .5 MILE LATER TRAVELING BETWEEN 10-15MPH IN THE NEIGHBORHOOD, THE POWER STEERING LIGHT AGAIN DISPLAYED ALONG THE DASH AND WAS NONEXISTENT ONCE AGAIN. *KB
EPS WENT OUT WHILE SITTING AT A LIGHT. I DROVE THE 5 MILES HOME WITHOUT POWER STEERING. UPON RESTARTING THE CAR, THE EPS RESUMED WORKING. *JS
SATURN ION 2005 IS LOOSING POWER STEERING. IT COMES BACK ON IF THE CAR IS TURNED OFF AND BACK ON AGAIN, BUT CONTINUES TO LOOSE POWER STEERING WHILE DRIVING. *JS
WHILE TRAVELING ON THE INTERSTATE A POWER STEERING FAILURE NOTICE APPEARED ON THE DASH AND IT BECAME DIFFICULT TO STEER. UPON RESTARTING THE VEHICLE, THE POWER STEERING FUNCTION RETURNED. THE POWER STEERING HAS FAILED 8 ADDITIONAL TIMES IN THE PAST MONTH SINCE 1/14/12. FORTUNATELY WE HAVE NOT HAD AN ACCIDENT DUE TO FAILURE. I AM A LARGE ATHLETIC BUILT 230 MAN, AND I HAVE DIFFICULTY STEERING UPON FAILURE. I FEAR AN ACCIDENT WOULD OCCUR IF THE STEERING FAILED AND MY 120 LB WIFE HAD TO MAKE A SUDDEN CHANGE IN DIRECTION. *TR
AT STOP LIGHT, POWER STEERING FLASHED ON DASH. DROVE ABOUT ONE MILE, WENT BACK ON, ANOTHER MILE AND POWER STEERING WENT OFF FOR GOOD. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 SATURN ION. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 30 MPH, THE POWER STEERING WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL FOR A FEW SECONDS AND THEN THERE WAS A COMPLETE LOSS OF POWERING STEERING. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO CONTINUE DRIVING WITH DIFFICULTY IN TURNING THE STEERING WHEEL. THE FAILURE OCCURRED INTERMITTENTLY. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE DEFECT. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 22,558.
POWER STEERING SYSTEM GOES ON AND OFF. HAPPENS AT ALL SPEEDS AND IN TURNS. MULTIPLE ACCIDENTS HAVE NEARLY OCCURRED BECAUSE OF THIS. THERE HAS BEEN AN EXTENDED WARRANTY UP TO 100,000 MILES BUT IF YOU'RE CAR IS PAST IT GM REFUSES TO DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE BECAUSE OF A BAD DESIGN! WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD AT NORMAL SPEED 55 MPH WE GET A DING DING DING WITH A PWR STEER LIGHT TO COME ON AND THEN WE HAVE NO POWER STEERING. LUCKILY MY HUSBAND WAS DRIVING. AFTER CALLING THE SATURN DEALERSHIP IT APPEARS TO BE THE POWER STEERING ASSIST MODULE. THIS IS DANGEROUS DUE TO YOU NOT GETTING MUCH OF A WARNING. *TR
POWER STEERING KEEPS FAILING ON AND OFF DURING TURNS AT ALL SPEEDS. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 SATURN ION. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 55 MPH, THE POWER STEERING WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. THE STEERING WHEEL SEIZED AND BECAME DIFFICULT TO MANEUVER. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER FOR A DIAGNOSTIC TEST AND THE TECHNICIAN STATED THAT THE POWER STEERING MOTOR WOULD HAVE TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THERE WAS AN OPEN INVESTIGATION UNDER NHTSA ACTION NUMBER: EA11014 (STEERING:ELECTRIC POWER ASSIST SYSTEM), THAT MAY BE RELATED TO THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 48,000.
THE FIRST TIME IT WENT OFF WAS WHEN WE WERE ENTERING A HIGHWAY. THE ELECTRIC ALARM WENT OFF AND THEN I FOUND THE STEERING WAS NOT WORKING. IT WAS DANGEROUS AND VERY HARD TO PULL OVER WHEN CARS BEHIND ARE ACCELERATING TO GET INTO THE HIGHWAY TRAFFIC. AFTER A RESTART, EVERYTHING SEEMED OKAY. THEN ON OUR WAY BACK HOME THE SAME THING HAPPENED FOR 4 OR 5 TIMES. WE HAD TO DRIVE IN THE RIGHT LANE AT A LOW SPEED TO GIVE OURSELVES ENOUGH SPACE FOR SAFTY. *TR
THE POWER STEERING ON THIS CAR REPEATEDLY FAILS. AS SOON AS YOU START THE CAR THE POWER STEERING LIGHT COMES ON MAKING IT EXTREMELY DIFFICULT TO MANEUVER THE CAR. *KB
I HAD BEEN DRIVING APPROX. 2 HOURS OF A 11 HOUR TRIP WHEN I SAW A MESSAGE REPLACE THE ODOMETER ABOUT THE POWER STEERING. I LEFT I95 USING EXIT 98 AND PULLED OVER IN A GAS STATION. THE MANUAL STATED THAT THE POWER STEERING WAS ELECTRIC, SO NO STEERING FLUID TO CHECK. I RESTARTED THE CAR AND MAGICALLY THE PROBLEM WAS FIXED AND MY TRIP ODOMETER WAS MAGICALLY SET TO ZERO. I DROVE AROUND THE FRONTAGE ROAD AND EVERYTHING SEEMED FINE SO I CONTINUED ON MY WAY. 22 MILES LATER THE SAME THING HAPPENED. I TOOK THE NEXT EXIT, SHUT THE CAR OFF, RESTARTED IT AND MAGICALLY AGAIN IT WAS FIXED WITH NO RESET OF THE TRIP ODOMETER. AGAIN I CONTINUED ON MY TRIP ONLY TO HAVE IT HAPPEN AGAIN 23 MILES LATER, AT WHICH POINT I REPEATED THE STOPPING/RESTARTING PROCEDURE AND TURNED AROUND HEADED FOR HOME. WHILE DRIVING HOME...
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 SATURN ION. THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING 35 MPH WHEN THE POWER STEERING FAILED WHILE THE CONTACT WAS MAKING A LEFT TURN. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER AND THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND THE CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 130,000.
ON 6/13/11, WHEN I WAS LEAVING FOR WORK I STARTED MY CAR AND IMMEDIATELY MY PWRSTR MESSAGE CAME UP ON THE DASHBOARD AND COULD NOT HARDLY TURN THE WHEEL. CALLED THE DEALERSHIP CAUSE I RECEIVED A BULLETIN LETTER. I BROUGHT THE CAR IN ON 6/14/11, THEY SAID THEY PUT IN A NEW PS MOTOR. ON 11/6/11 THE PWR STR CAME UP AGAIN. I BROUGHT THE CAR BACK TO THEM ON 11/7/11, THEY SAID I NEEDED A NEW STEERING COLUMN AND COST WAS $897.WHICH THEY SAID THEY REPLACED. ON 11/15/11, THE SAME MESSAGE APPEARED AND COULD NOT STEER THE WHEEL. THIS IS AFTER SUPPOSEDLY THEY REPLACED THE PS MOTOR AND STEERING COLUMN. GOING BACK TODAY 11/16/11, TO SEE WHAT CRAP THEY ARE GOING TO TELL ME.WHY DOES THIS KEEP ON HAPPENING??
