UPON MAKING A TURN ON A BUSY STREET MY POWER STEERING WENT OUT AND I ALMOST HIT THE CURB. THIS INCIDENT HURT MY WRIST AND BACK STRUGGLING WITH THE STEERING.
WHILE DRIVING THE SERVICE ESC & POWER STEERING WARNING CAME ON. AT THIS POINT THE POWER STEERING STOPPED FUNCTIONING AND STEERING BECAME VERY DIFFICULT ESPECIALLY AT LOWER SPEEDS. THERE HAS BEEN A RECALL FOR THIS ISSUE FOR THIS MODEL, BUT MY VIN NUMBER IS NOT SHOWING UP AS ONE OF THE VEHICLES RECALLED EVEN THOUGH IT APPEARS TO HAVE THE PROBLEM. GM OBVIOUSLY HAS MORE DEFECTIVE PARTS INSTALLED ON ADDITIONAL VIN'S. THIS CAN BE A VERY DANGEROUS PROBLEM DEPENDING ON WHEN IT OCCURS. THE PROBLEM RESETS WHEN YOU TURN OFF THE CAR AND RESTART IT, BUT IT HAS NOW HAPPENED 4 TIMES WHILE DRIVING SINCE THE INITIAL OCCURRENCE.
MY POWER STEERING KEEPS LOCKING UP AND THE LIGHT ON THE DASH BOARD COMES ON. IT HAS HAPPENED 3 TIMES NOW WHILE DRIVING ON A CITY STREET, THE HIGHWAY WHILE DRIVING AND WHEN EXITING IT WAS HARD TO TURN AND THE 3RD TIME WHEN I STARTED THE CAR THE LIGHT LIT UP ON THE DASHBOARD. I DO NOT HAVE A PHOTO BUT I DID STOP AT AN AUTO ZONE AND HAVE THE CODE READ. I HAVEN'T BEEN IN AN ACCIDENT YET, BUT AM AFRAID IT WILL HAPPEN.
INTERMITTENTLY ESC POWER STEERING WILL POP UP IN DISPLAY, POWER STEERING WILL QUIT WORKING AND ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE TO TURN, DEALER STATES NO RECALL FOR THIS PROBLEM
VEHICLE IS HARD TO STEER WHILE DRIVING, THEN ESC POWER STEERING OFF APPEAR ON THE DRIVER INFORMATION CENTER ON DASH.
WITHOUT WARNING THE STEERING AND THE ESC FAILED, WHEN YOU START THE CAR THE WARNINGS FLASH THAT THAT ARE OFF, ON THE RARE OCCASION THAT THEY TURN ON THEY TURN OFF WHILE THE CAR IS DRIVING, THE CAR LOSES ALL STEERING ASSISTANCE. WHEN THEY CONTROLS ARE ACTIVE THE STEERING WHEEL SHAKES UNCONTROLLABLY
WHILE DRIVING THE POWER STEERING STOPPED FUNCTIONING AND STEERING BECAME VERY DIFFICULT ESPECIALLY AT LOWER SPEEDS. FOR SOME REASON MY VIN NUMBER IS NOT SHOWING UP AS ONE OF THE VEHICLES RECALLED EVEN THOUGH IT HAS THE DEFECTIVE EQUIPMENT INSTALLED IN IT. THE WHOLE DESIGN OF AN ELECTRONIC MOTOR INSTEAD OF A HYDRAULIC PUMP WITH FLUID SEEMS LIKE AN INEFFECTIVE DESIGN NO WONDER IT IS FAILING AND IS NOT FUNCTIONING PROPERLY. GM REFUSES TO ACKNOWLEDGE ANY FAULT IN THIS AND I DON'T UNDERSTAND WHY MY VEHICLE IS NOT ONE OF THE ONES THAT IS LISTED BY ITS VIN NUMBER
WHILE DRIVING THE STEERING WHEEL JUST LOCKED UP IT WAS VERY VERY HARD TO TURN THE WHEEL.
WHILE DRIVING BACK FROM WORK TODAY I GOT THIS MESSAGE // POWER STEERING SERVICE ESC// MESSAGE AFTER PUTTING THE VEHICLE IN REVERSE WHILE TRYING TO TURN.THE STEERING BECAME UNCONTROLLABLE AFTERWARDS. AFTER TURNING IGNITION OFF AND BACK ON THE ERROR MESSAGE WENT AWAY AND THINGS WENT BACK TO NORMAL.
WHILE DRIVING AT 25 MPH THE POWER STEERING HAS GONE OUT QUITE A FEW TIMES, RESTARTING THE CAR TURNS THE POWER STEERING BACK ON. WHILE DRIVING ANY ROAD, INCLUDING 70MPH HIGHWAYS, THE CAR WILL JOLT AND THE SERVICE ESC ALERT WILL GO OFF. IT'S ACTUALLY GETTING WORSE.
TALARA RECALL ' I TURNED MY CAR ON AND IT KEPT KILLING FORWARD IT SAID POWER STEERING STABILITY ESC ,ESC OFF, AND THEN ENGINE POWER REDUCED IT KEPT ACCELERATING BY IT SELF I THOUGHT IT WAS THE BATTERY SO I BOAUGHT A NEW ONE BUT NOT EVEN WHEN THEY SWITCHED IT OUT WOULD IT STOP DOING THAT IT KEPT JULTING
WHILE DRIVING (TWICE) ON A CITY STREET SUDDENLY THE SERVICE ESC, POWER STEERING NOTIFICATION LIGHT COMES ON AND I DO NOT HAVE ELECTRIC POWER STEERING. I AM ABLE TO TURN WITH DIFFICULTY TO SHOULDER OF ROAD. ONCE I TURN OFF THE CAR AND BACK ON, LIGHTS GO OFF AND ELECTRIC POWER STEERING IS RESTORED.
WHEN I WAS GETTING OFF THE INTERSTATE I LOSE CONTROL OF MY POWER STEERING AND THE SERVICE ESC POWER STEERING LIGHT CAME ON AND I WAS ABLE TO PULL OVER INTO A GAS STATION I TURNED THE CAR OFF TURNED IT BACK ON AND THE POWER STEERING STARTED WORKING JUST FINE AGAIN.

WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS TURNED OFF AND RESTARTED, THE STEERING WHEEL WORKED NORMALLY. THE FAILURE OCCURRED A TOTAL OF THREE TIMES. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED BY AN EYEWITNESS THAT THE BRAKE LIGHTS REMAINED ILLUMINATED WHILE DRIVING; HOWEVER, WHILE AT A COMPLETE STOP WITH THE BRAKE PEDAL DEPRESSED, THE BRAKE LIGHTS WERE NOT ILLUMINATED. THE LOCAL DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THEY WERE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND THAT THERE WERE RECALLS FOR BOTH OF THE FAILURES; HOWEVER, THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBERS: 14V153000 (STEERING) AND 14V252000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM) DUE TO THE EXTENDED MILEAGE. I WAS DRIVEN IT AND STOP COMPLITY IN THE MIDLE OF THE CITY STREET SOME PEOPLE HELP ME TO PUSHED ON THE SIDE, AAA TOKED TO GMC ON MAIN STREET AND TELL ME THAT IT IS THE TRANSMISSION AND COST ME $3,000.00 TO FIXT IT AND WOUND NOT FIXT RECALLS, I HAVE BEEN WITH OUT A CAR FOR A MONTH, I WOULD APPRECIATE IF YOU HELP ME OUT TO HAVE SOME ONE TO FIXT THE RECALL OR SOME THING, PLEASE SIR HELP ME OUT [XXX]. THIS MORNING LEAVING WORK AFTER COMING TO A STOP, WHEN MAKING A RIGHT TURN TO RE-ENTER TRAFFIC HALFWAY THROUGH THE TURN THE POWER STEERING WENT COMPLETELY OUT NEARLY CAUSING ME TO HIT AN VEHICLE TURNING LEFT ONTO THE SAME STREET I WAS EXITING. THE POWER STEERING LIGHT ILLUMINATED ON THE DASH FOR NOT NEARLY FIVE SECONDS.

IN ADDITION, THE STEERING WHEEL WAS SHAKING VIOLENTLY. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND INFORMED NO RECALLS WERE ON THE VEHICLE AND CONTACT ED DAVID STANLEY CHEVROLET DEALER AT (405) 632-3600 TO DO A DIAGNOSTIC TEST. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 138,500.
KEEP LOSING EPS - ELECTRIC POWER STEERING, WHILE DRIVING VEHICLE. WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE, WILL LOSE THE POWER STEERING PART, AND HAVE TO MAN-HANDLE THE WHEEL TO MANEUVER THE VEHICLE. THERE WAS A RECALL ON IT, OF WHICH I DID NOT KNOW ABOUT, DID NOT RECEIVE NOTIFICATION. NOW THAT I TAKE IT IN TO BE FIXED, AM TOLD THAT THERE IS A LIMIT OF 150,000 MILES ON THIS RECALL, I AM AT 195,000. 2/27/15 STEERING WHEEL VIBRATION W/SERVICE ESC POWER STEERING. LOSS OF POWER STEERING. DIAGNOSED AS FAULTY TORQUE SENSOR. IT WAS FIXED. 2/5/17 IT IS DOING THE SAME THING AGAIN. RECALL FOR THIS BUT FOR SOME REASON MY CAR WAS ALSO NOT INCLUDED. THIS SEEMS TO BE A VERY COMMON PROBLEM. THIS IS A BIG SAFETY ISSUES THAT THE OEM SHOULD COVER FOR ALL VEHICLES IN THE TIME FRAME THAT IT COVERS. THIS HAPPENED WHILE STATIONERY AND WHILE MOVING.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNED A 2009 SATURN AURA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE STEERING WHEEL WAS EXTREMELY TIGHT AND THE POWER STEERING FAILED SEVERAL TIMES WITHOUT WARNING. IN ADDITION, THE SHIFT LEVER FAILED TO FUNCTION PROPERLY. WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS PLACED IN PARK, IT ROLLED AND THE CONTACT HAD TO QUICKLY APPLY THE EMERGENCY BRAKE TO STOP THE VEHICLE. WHILE DRIVING 30 MPH, A FIRE ERUPTED UNDER THE HOOD. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO PULL THE VEHICLE INTO A FUEL STATION. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT EXTINGUISHED THE FLAMES. A POLICE REPORT WAS NOT FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED AND TOWED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED BY A DEALER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURES. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 140,000.
EPS POWER STEERING FAILURE
I HAVE MY DAUGHTER MY 2009 SATURN AURA FOR HER 16TH BIRTHDAY. SHE BEGAN DRIVING ON NOV. 24TH AFTER COMPLETING DRIVER'S EDUCATION COURSE. SHE AND HER BROTHER WERE DRIVING TO SCHOOL TODAY AND THE POWER STEERING WENT OUT. LUCKILY NO ONE WAS HURT. WHEN SHE ARRIVED AT SCHOOL SOME BOYS CAME OVER AND HELPED HER. MY DAUGHTER HAS BEEN IN THE HOSPITAL, HAS AN UPCOMING SURGERY, AND NOW HER CAR IS A SAFETY HAZARD. I SEARCHED MY VIN TO FIND A RECALL I WAS NOT AWARE OF FOR THE BACK BREAK LIGHT. I HAVE A 2009 SATURN AURA XR, I WAS DRIVING TO GET ON THE FREEWAY GOING ABOUT 40-45MPH THEN THE LIGHT CAN ON SAYING "ESC TRACTION" "ENGINE POWER REDUCE" THE CAR STARTED TO LOSE POWER AND THE BRAKES FELT REALLY TIGHT. I TRIED TO ACCELERATE BUT IT WOULDN'T GO NO FASTER THAN 30MPH. I EXITED THE FREEWAY PARKED THE CAR TURNED IF OFF AND TURNED IT BACK ON. WHEN I TURNED IT BACK ON THE SAME PROBLEM "ESC TRACTION" "ENGINE POWER REDUCE" AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WAS ON, THE CAR WAS ON PARKED POSITION AND THE CAR STARTED TO JOLT FORWARD. I HAD TO WAIT FOR ABOUT 1-2 HOURS BEFORE THE CAR WAS BACK TO ITSELF BUT THIS TIME IT FELT DIFFERENT DRIVING IT. THE CAR FELT LIKE IT WAS ACCELERATING TOO QUICKLY AND I WASN'T GOING NO MORE THAN 15MPH. THIS HAS HAPPENED 3 TIMES IN THE PAST...
MY HOPE IS THAT GM WILL OFFER AN EXTENDED WARRANTY TO SUBSIDIZE ME FOR SOME, IF NOT ALL, OF THE COST TO REPAIR MY VEHICLE - ESTIMATED BY FELDMAN CHEVROLET @ $1,350.00. PRIOR TO SETTING UP THE SERVICE APPOINTMENT WITH FELDMAN CHEVROLET, I WAS INFORMED BY A GM REPRESENTATIVE (NAMED CASEY) THAT IF MY VEHICLE ISSUES, AFTER BEING FORMERLY DIAGNOSED BY GM DEALER, WERE CONSISTENT WITH THE PROBLEMS COVERED UNDER THE EXTENDED WARRANTY, MY VEHICLE MIGHT VERY WELL BE COVERED. I'M STILL AWAITING A CALL BACK FROM CASEY AFTER HAVING CALLED LAST WEEK. MY POWER STEERING PROBLEMS BEGAN IN APRIL 2015 WHEN I HAD APPROXIMATELY 135,000 MILES ON THE VEHICLE. AT THAT TIME THE POWER STEERING WOULD INTERMITTENTLY FAIL WHEN STARTING THE VEHICLE BUT I COULD ALWAYS FIX THE PROBLEM BY SIMPLY SHUTTING OFF THE ENGINE AND RESTARTING. THIS PROBLEM WOULD RE-OCCUR ABOUT ONCE EVERY OTHER MONTH OVER THE NEXT...

MY CAR PULLS TO THE LEFT DESPITE HAVING IT ALIGNED 3 TIMES AT 2 DIFFERENT SHOPS. THE POWER STEERING HAS FAILED COMPLETELY 3 TIMES WITHIN THE LAST 3000 MILES. FAILURE WAS NOTED AS POWER STEERING WHINE FOLLOWED BY A BLOWN HOSE OR SEAL AND LOSS OF ALL FLUID AND POWER STEERING ASSISTANCE. THERE IS A RECALL #14116 FOR MY MAKE MODEL AND YEAR WHICH MATCHES THE SYMPTOMS OF MY PROBLEMS BUT WHEN CONTACTING THE MANUFACTURER I WAS INFORMED MY VIN WAS NOT PART OF THE RECALL.
MY STEERING IS SUPER TIGHT. I CAN'T TURN MY WHEEL VERY EASILY. I HAVE TO USE 2 FULL HANDS TO MAKE TURNS AND I BELIEVE MY POWER STEERING IS EFFECTED. IT SEEMS VERY UNSAFE TO ME AND MAKES ME NERVOUS LIKE IT MAY LOCK UP. I'VE DONE SOME RESEARCH AND I SEE THERE ARE RECALLS ON OTHER YEARS OF THIS CAR FOR THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM, YET MY CAR IS NOT FALLING UNDER THE RECALL.
THIS IS THE SECOND TIME IN THE LAST YEAR I LOST USE OF MY STEERING WHEEL. THE FIRST TIME, I WAS BACKING UP AND LOST ALL CONTROL OF MY STEERING. I DID NOT REPORT IT BECAUSE THERE WAS NOT A WARNING LIGHT. TODAY, SEPT. 3,2015 I WAS DRIVING THROUGH THE PARKING LOT OF THE SCHOOL (MAY 2 TO 5 MPH) WHEN I LOST ALL CONTROL OF THE STEERING. I WASN'T ABLE TO TURN THE WHEEL EITHER WAY, IT WAS COMPLETELY LOCKED UP. I STOPPED THE CAR AND TURNED OFF THE IGNITION. AFTER A COPY OF MINUTES, I RESTARTED THE CAR AND IT WAS FINE. IT WAS VERY SCARY KNOWING I COULD NOT CONTROL THE CAR. I NOTICED OLDER VEHICLES HAD THE SAME ISSUE AND THEY HAD A RECALL. I BELIEVE THE 2009 AURA SHOULD BE INVESTIGATED FOR THE SAME RECALL.

THE VEHICLE WAS MERGED TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD, WHERE THE STEERING WHEEL RESUMED NORMAL OPERATION AFTER MANY ATTEMPTS. THE FAILURE RECURRED INTERMITTENTLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC. THE TECHNICIAN WAS UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 67,000.

AS I PULLED OUT OF A PARKING LOT TO GO LEFT, MY POWER STEERING WENT OFF. "ESC" CAME UP IN THE MESSAGE WINDOW, THEN "POWER STEERING" SHOWED UP. I COULD HARDLY TURN THE WHEEL.
