Headlights are burning, melting and charged connections and causing dim lights. These headlights were recently replaced with new OEM healing’s for the second time and each replacement is burning out the connection. Please advise?

Well, we purchased a 2009 Pontiac G6 in November of 2021. We have been having problems with our light staying on, we were pull over a couple nights ago due to our lights not working. Also, our G6 pulls to the right and tweeters are the only speakers that work. Sometimes the driver door speaker will come on but that's in a blue moon. My step dad looked at my lights and noticed our wires were burnt and so was the connection piece. My fiancé informed me the other day that when he was fueling up, that he had to turn the car off because he heard a weird noise coming from the inside of the gas tank. Head light connector is burning out too fast. Had to replace it 2x in 1 year.
The contact owns a 2009 Pontiac G6. The contact stated that a friend had alerted him that his brake lights remained illuminated while driving. The contact also stated that the brake lights would go out upon the depression of the brake pedal without warning. The contact then placed some dielectric grease on the brake wiring harness which repaired the brake light connection. The contact also stated that the front driver’s side headlight also failed to operate without warning. The contact applied dielectric grease to the wiring harness however, the failure persisted. Upon investigation, the contact linked the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 14V252000 (Electrical System, Exterior Lighting, Vehicle Speed Control, Electronic Stability Control). The contact had spoken with the manufacturer and was informed that the VIN was not under recall. The contact was then referred to the NHTSA for assistance. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact owns a 2009 Pontiac G6. The contact stated while driving at various speeds, the rear brake lights stayed on continuously even when the brake pedal was not depressed. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic and an unknown switch underneath the dashboard was replaced however, the failure recurred. The dealer was made aware of the failure and informed the contact to take the vehicle to be diagnosed. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 126,000.
BRAKE LIGHTS ARE ON WHEN DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD AND THE FOOT IS NOT ON THE BRAKE AND THEN THE BRAKE LIGHT GOES OFF WHEN BRAKING. ALSO THE ELECTRONIC POWER STEERING IS NOT WORKING SOMETIMES WHEN STARTING THE CAR. I TURN IT OFF AND RESTART AND IT WORKS. IT HAS ALSO KICKED OFF A COUPLE OF TIMES WHEN DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD. BASED ON YOUR WEBSITE THE ISSUES ARE LISTED FOR THE PONTIAC G6 SAAB AND CHEVY MALIBU. BUT BASED ON MY VIN # IT'S NOT INCLUDED. IN CHECKING WITH GM THEY DID THE BRAKE LIGHT RECALL BACK IN 2014 ON THIS CAR BUT THE PROBLEM IS BACK AGAIN AND THEY SHOW NO RECALL ON THIS VEHICLE FOR THE POWER STEERING ISSUE. THE POWER STEERING IS A REAL SAFETY ISSUE ALONG WITH THE PROPER FUNCTIONING BRAKE LIGHT. THANK YOU FOR YOUR ATTENTION ON THIS MATTER.

THE DEALER WAS UNABLE TO RETRIEVE THE PART. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN.

FURTHER INVESTIGATING THIS MATTER ONLINE, I FOUND THIS IS A VERY COMMON ISSUE WITH THESE VEHICLES, YET, NO RECALL HAS BEEN MADE AVAILABLE YET. I WAS TOLD THAT MY BRAKE LIGHTS WERE DOING SOMETHING WEIRD AND CRAZY. SHE WENT ON TO SAY THAT AS SHE WAS BEHIND ME, THAT I MUST HAVE BEEN RIDING MY BRAKES ALL THE WAY UNTIL I CAME TO A RED LIGHT AND STOPPED. MY BRAKE LIGHTS WENT OFF WHILE APPLYING THEM COMING TO A STOP THEN BACK ON WHEN DRIVING. THE DOOR LOCKS KEEP LOCKING AND UNLOCKING ON THEIR OWN AND NOW THE BACK PASSANGER DOOR LOCK STOPPED WORKING. MY BRAKE LIGHTS STAY ON WHEN I'M DRIVING AND THE BAD LIGHT KEEPS COMING ON BUT MY GARAGE CAN'T FIGURE OUT WHY, THEY SAID THERE'S NO REASON FOR IT.

BURNT SOCKET LEAD ME TO BELIEVE THE HARNESS WASN'T ABLE TO WITHSTAND THE AMPERAGE. I REPLACED THE WIRES RUNNING TO HEADLIGHTS WITH A LARGER GAUGE. REPLACED THE HEADLIGHT CONNECTOR. ALL HAS BEEN WELL SINCE, GOING ON 3 YEARS NOW. ANOTHER WIRING ISSUE IS THE INJECTOR/CAN SENSOR HARNESS. IF THIS BECOMES LOOSE IN ANY WAY THE CAR RUNS VERY ROUGH, POOR FUEL, LOW IDLE, OR STALLING. AT THE TIME MY VEHICLE STALLED AND WAS RUNNING ROUGH I HAD NO FAULTS OR CEL. I THOUGHT MY TIMING CHAIN WAS ABOUT TO SNAP. ALL THIS DUE TO A ELECTRICAL CONNECTION THAT WIGGLED JUST A TAD LOOSE.

HEADLIGHTS INTERMITTENTLY STOP WORKING; HAVE CHANGED THE BULBS, CLEANED THE WIRES. THEY WORK FOR FEW WEEKS AND THEN WON'T COME ON. I OWN A PONTIAC G6 2009 AND OVER THE LAST 9 MONTHS I HAVE BEEN EXPERIENCING MY PASSENGER HEADLIGHT GOING ON AND OFF WHILE THE CAR IS OPERATIONAL. IT DOESN'T MATTER IF THE GROUND IS SMOOTH OR ROUGH IT GOES ON AND OFF. I HAVE HAD THE BULB REPLACED SEVERAL TIMES AS WELL AS THE CONNECTOR AND THE HEADLIGHT STILL DOES NOT WORK PROPERLY. I HAVE READ THIS IS A COMMON COMPLAINT AMONG G6 OWNERS. MOST IMPORTANTLY IT IS A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE.
HEADLIGHTS DON'T WORK. THE RIGHT HEADLIGHT DOESN'T WORK - THE LEFT CUTS OUT. I'VE SEEN REPORTS THAT GM HAS EXTENDED THE WARRANTY FOR THIS PROBLEM BUT WHEN I CALL THE DEALERSHIP OR GM SERVICE DIRECT THEY DON'T KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT IT. GM SERVICE HUNG UP ON ME WHEN I TOLD THE PERSON THAT IF THEY DON'T KNOW THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A THROTTLE BODY AND A HEADLIGHT THEY SHOULDN'T BE MANNING THE SERVICE LINE FOR GENERAL MOTORS.

THE CONTACT SPOKE WITH TAYLOR CHEVROLET (2510 N MEMORIAL DR, LANCASTER, OH 43130) WHERE THE DEALER STATED THAT THE LIGHTING CONTROL MODULE COULD BE THE ISSUE. THE VIN WAS EXCLUDED FROM NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 15V519000 (EXTERIOR LIGHTING). THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 105,000.

I AM HAVING A PROBLEM WITH MY RIGHT FRONT LOWBEAM HEADLIGHT. I HAD IT CHANGED OUT AND IT STILL WORKS WHEN IT WANTS TO. I WENT TO THE DEALER AND THE BODY SHOP MAN THERE TOLD ME IT MAY BE A ELECTRICAL PROBLEM AND FOR ME TO TAKE IT BACK TO THE FRONT AND TALK TO THEM. THEY ARE WANTING TO CHARGE JUST TO SEE IF IT IS A ELECTRICAL PROBLEM. I CAME CLOSE ON GETTING PULLED OVER. THE ONLY REASON WHY I DIDN'T IS BECAUSE I HURRIED UP AND GOT OUT OF SIGHT.
THE LOW BEAM HEADLIGHT SOCKET HAS GOTTEN OVERHEATED TO THE POINT WHERE THE PLASTIC HAS MELTED AWAY CAUSING THE LIGHT TO FAIL WHILE DRIVING. I REPLACED THIS SOCKET MULTIPLE TIMES WITH THE SAME RESULTS. I HAVE ALSO MADE SURE THAT ALL GROUNDING POINTS WERE CLEAR AND WORKING PROPERLY, WHICH THEY WERE ALL IN PERFECT CONDITION. THE DATE I HAVE PROVIDED IS THE MOST RECENT OCCURRENCE. THIS IS A KNOWN PROBLEM FOR THIS MAKE AND MODEL. IF YOU GO ONTO THE INTERNET AND DO A GOOGLE SEARCH IT COMES UP INSTANTLY WITH COUNTLESS ACCOUNTS OF THE SAME ISSUE. MY SISTER OWNS THE SAME VECHILE BUT IS A 2006 AND SHE HAS BEEN FIGHTING THE SAME ISSUE. THIS ISSUE COULD POSSIBLY CAUSE A VERY SERIOUS ACCIDENT WITH FATAL CONSEQUENCES SHOULD BOTH LIGHTS FAIL AT NIGHT.
LOW BEAMS HAVE TOTALLY STOPPED WORKING. THEY STARTED TO GO OFF ONE AT A TIME AND WOULD COME BACK ON IF I BANGED ON THEM..HAVE CHANGED THE BULBS AND THAT IS NOT THE PROBLEM.. I NOW DRIVE AT NIGHT WITH HIGH BEAMS ON SINCE THOSE ARE THE ONLY LIGHTS THAT WORK.
WE HAVE REPLACED THE FRONT HEADLIGHTS ALMOST 3 TIMES IN THE LAST 2 MONTHS DUE TO WIRING 'BURNING' AND CAUSING THE LIGHTS TO GO OUT. THE ACTUAL LIGHT BULBS THEMSELVES ARE FINE. IN ADDITION, THE HEADLIGHTS SUDDENLY SHUT OFF. THE LIGHT BULBS WERE REPLACED, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURES WAS NOT DIAGNOSED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURES. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 100,000.

I'VE HAD 2 PIG TAILS INSTALLED IN THE LAST 2 YEARS; NOW THE PROBLEM STILL PERSIST AS OF TODAY. SOMETHING IS WRONG WITH PONTIAC G6 HEADLIGHTS SYSTEM. I'VE READ SERVERAL COMPLAINTS OF THE SAME THING.

I'VE BEEN REPLACING PARTS TO TRY TO SOLVE THE PROBLEM OF WHY THE BRAKE LIGHTS STAY ON, THE CRUISE CONTROL KICKS OFF, THE TRACTION CONTROL STAYS ON. ALL THESE PROBLEMS ARE ALL AT THE SAME TIME.I GET IT FIXED AND THEN 3 WEEKS LATER ITS THE SAME ALL OVER AGAIN BUT IT KEEPS GETTING WORSE. ALOT OF PEOPLE I KNOW WITH THIS CAR KEEP SPENDING MONEY AND IT NEVER GETS FIXED THE RIGHT WAY. WE ALL NEED A SOLUTION.
LOW BEAM HEAD LIGHTS GO OUT WHEN DRIVING SOMETIMES THE LEFT AND SOMETIMES THE RIGHT. WHEN I START THE CAR HEADLIGHTS WONT COME ON I HAVE TO TAP ON THE HEADLIGHT LENS TO GET THEM TO COME ON, HAVE REPLACED BULBS AND STILL HAPPENS. THIS HAS BEEN GOING ON SINCE I BOUGHT THE CAR. I HAVE TALKED WITH OTHER G6 OWNERS THAT ARE HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM. WHEN DRIVING ON THE INTERSTATE AND THE LIGHTS GO OUT IT IS VERY DANGEROUS.
MY CAR HAS NOW ALSO LOST POWER STEERING ON MORE THAN ONE OCCASION (LOSS OF POWER STEERING FIRST OCCURRED THIS YEAR)THE POWER STEERING WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE FAILURE RECURRED INTERMITTENTLY AND MY HEADLIGHTS KEEP GOING OUT, EVEN WHEN THE BULBS ARE BRAND NEW (THIS HAS BEEN AN ONGOING ISSUE FOR TWO YEARS NOW). WHEN I SMACK THE HEADLIGHTS, THEY COME BACK ON. I DO NOT ALWAYS FEEL SAFE WHEN DRIVING THIS CAR.
THE LOW BEAM HEAD LIGHTS ARE MELTING THERE CONNECTOR MAKINGTHE LIGHTS TO GO OUT RANDOM AND SOME TIMES BLOWING THE LIGHT BULBS. THIS HAPPENS AT ANY TIME DAY AND NIGHT IN MOTION OR NOT. IT IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS WHEN THE LIGHTS GO OUT AND IM DRIVING AS I CAN'T SEE ANYTHING AND OTHER DRIVERS CAN'T SEE ME. THE HIGH BEAMS DO WORK BUT THAT IS DANGEROUS TO DRIVE WITH ANY TRAFFIC AS IT CAN CAUSE THEM TO NOT BE A BE TO SEE.
RIGHT HEADLIGHT CONTINUES TO BLOW OUT BULB. REPLACED 3 TIMES IN 2 WEEKS. NOT SURE IF THERE IS A POWER SURGE CAUSING THE ISSUE OR A SHORT IN THE WIRE. APPEARS TO BE A PROBLEM WITH THIS VEHICLE.
THE SOLUTION GM HAS FOR RECALL #14V252000 DOES NOT WORK. THE RECALL WAS FIXED 9/2014 AND ON 10/31/15 THE SAME PROBLEM WAS NOTICED. THIS HAS BEEN NOTICED WHEN THE VEHICLE IS IN MOTION. BRAKE LIGHTS COME ON WHEN BRAKES ARE NOT APPLIED, GO OFF WHEN BRAKES ARE APPLIED. I BROUGHT VEHICLE INTO A CHEVY DEALERSHIP ON 11/09/15. THEY REPLACED A BRAKE PEDAL POSITION SENSOR. NOTICED ON 11/09/15 IN PM THAT THE BRAKE LIGHTS REMAIN ON AND DO NOT CHANGE WHEN THE BRAKE IS PRESSED. A SERVICE TRACTION CAME ON 11/10/15 AND AGAIN ON 11/17/15. I HAVE NOT HAD AN OPPORTUNITY TO DRIVE BEHIND THE VEHICLE WHILE THIS SERVICE TRACTION LIGHT IS ON. I HAVE TAKEN A PICTURE OF THE SERVICE TRACTION LIGHT TWICE SHOWING THE MILEAGE AND TIME. THE LOW BEAM HEADLIGHT CONTINUOUSLY BURNS OUT. I HAVE REPLACED IT 5 TIMES APPROXIMATELY ONCE PER MONTH. I AM VERY CAREFUL NOT TO TOUCH THE BULB. I HAVE ALSO BOUGHT THE BULBS FROM DIFFERENT STORES JUST IN CASE IT WAS A BAD BATCH.
THE HEADLAMP SOCKET HAS BLOWN OUT 3 LIGHT BULBS SINCE JANUARY (IT IS NOW JULY). THE SOCKET HAS TOTALLY MELTED AND PARTS OF IT HAVE BROKEN OFF MAKING IT IMPOSSIBLE TO REPLACE THE BULB AGAIN. THE SOCKET AND BULB HAVE BURN MARKS ON THEM.
