2016 NISSAN TITAN Electrical System Problems

Dear Sir/Madam Masked Oil Pressure Warning in 2016 Nissan Titan XD (5.0L) I am writing to report a concerning and potentially dangerous defect observed in a 2016 Nissan Titan XD equipped with the 5.0L Cummins V8 diesel engine. As a Nissan Master Technician with extensive experience in vehicle diagnostics and repair, I believe this specific defect could be a contributing factor to the well-documented crankshaft breaking condition prevalent in these vehicles, which NHTSA is currently investigating. The specific issue I have identified and thoroughly documented on my own 2016 Nissan Titan XD is as follows: Observed Defect: The engine oil pressure gauge consistently reads "normal" (approximately 1/2 scale) at all times, including with the Key On, Engine Off (KOEO). Crucially, the corresponding oil pressure warning light does NOT illuminate during the normal Key On, Engine Off bulb check or at any other time, despite the engine not running. This car becomes completely undriveable due to an unspecified def error. The error it turns out seems to be tied to an electrical wiring harness which costs about 8000$ dollars to repair btw and seems to be chronic due to a design flaw on all the titan xds. 2016 nissan titan xd faulty number 8 injector this is the third time the trucks been to nissan for this issue the truck will drive fine then drops speed and starts to surge with knocking in the motor with service light making it a danger on the highway the truck is currently at nissan and it's been there going on a month

I purchased this vehicle in 2022 with 62000 miles on it for $45000, cash first newer vehicle ever paid for in cash, 1st day i drove it, check engine light for turbo failure came on, i normally put 80-100k miles on a vehicle per year, ive owned over 200 diesel vehicles in last 25 years, never have i had one stay in the shop more than driving it. Not only does it stay in the shop, but you have to locate a shop that still has a diesel technician employed. Two turbo actuator replacements, lift pump replacement, 18 shop visits for check engine lights, 5 times in a row at buford ga nissan, drove away and light came back on before making it home. Loud noise and engine kept running but was unresponsive. Was traveling about 70 mph just coasted off the interstate. Was pulling my pontoon boat back to the lake during rush hour if I hadn’t been at an exit might have turned out different. Had it towed to nearest Nissan dealership and was told right away camshaft was broken and engine would have to be replaced.

i HAVE A 2016 NISSAN TITAN XD PRO 4x. that had engine failure at 106k miles due to bearing and crank shaft damage. this is a non engine and was denied repair from Nissan. A engine should last longer than this. Took over 2 years for parts and $20k out of my pocket. Now the turbo has bearing issue that's been failing since day one and Nissan failed to remedy the issue. This truck was a lemon from day one. Thousand of customer have the same issue. Nissan needs to stand behind the product.

Good Afternoon, My brother was driving my Nissan Titan XD 5.0 Cummins Diesel from Naples, FL to Ft . Lauderdale FL , and the truck was running fine at around 70-80 mph with no issues .As soon as he proceeded to the exit in Lauderdale around 60mph, all of a sudden truck flashed all kinds of warning lights came on randomly and motor shut down . The truck down shifted twice and then shut completely off while I was driving down the interstate. I was towed to Nissan in Springfield Missouri (closest to me) and they could not figure out the issue and charged me $500. I then towed the truck to Nissan of Jefferson city, Missouri, where I bought it. They inspected the motor and told me it was a complete loss. Metal in the oil pan from internal parts. They quoted me $39k for it to be replaced and I currently owe $30k on the truck. I only had this truck for 10 months when this failure occurred and left me and my family stranded. Ever since I purchased this truck in 2017 I've had problem after problem Turbo actuator has been replaced twice and and is out again and not at cost on Nissan refused to pay for recall after it was replaced . coolant level sensor also replaced and is out yet again and have to replace reservoir also because sensor not sold seperatly EGR is leaking and out as is engine low oil light on and mechanic is beliving engine has blown up not sure cause yet until engine removed at my cost and replaced .These issues have had me in heavy traffic several times putting truck in limp mode making it unsafe for others and my self twice with grand children on board also dealer found melted wires in box harness that they wanted to replace indicated trailer wiring malfunction also a fire risk for truck .steering pump has always been...

While towing 8,000 lbs, the engine made a horrible knocking sound and then stopped, causing me to lose power and the ability to adequately control my load, placing the traveling public and myself at a grave risk of harm.

Faulty Turbo Actuator Vehicle would stall stall without check engine light in traffic. I could Cycle the key and vehicle would run again no check engine light. It did this at least 4-5 times in traffic and on freeways. Nissan also is not providing support as actuator was on back order for over 6 months. Vehicle stall I f with no warning and cycling key to restart. I replaced it and once had it repaired and vehicle still runs poorly.

ENGINE LOSES POWER, SLOWS DOWN TO A CREEPING 5-10 MPH DURING PEAK HOUR TRAFFIC OR TURNS-OFF COMPLETELY. INSTRUMENT PANEL READS EXHAUST FILTER OVERLOAD/REDUCED SPEED. AFTERWARD, VEHICLE WILL NOT START AT TIMES OR WILL START BUT RESUMES 5-10 MPH SPEED OF TRAVEL. HAD MANUAL RESET PERFORMED; ONLY 44 MILES LATER TO HAVE SAME ENGINE TROUBLE BESET THE VEHICLE AGAIN.

THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE REPAIRS HAD TO BE PAID FOR OUT OF POCKET. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT HE WOULD RECEIVE A CALLBACK HOWEVER, NEVER DID RECEIVE THAT CALLBACK. FACTORY HEADLIGHTS HAVE A BALLAST THAT CONTROLS LOW BEAMS AND DAY TIME RUNNING LIGHTS THAT IS RETAINING WATER AND CAUSING HEADLIGHTS TO EITHER STAY ON OR NOT WORK AT ALL. ON 05-01-2020 I WAS DRIVING BACK HOME ON I-59 NORTH AND I LOST THE POWER STEERING, ALTERNATOR AND A/C. 1 YEAR APART, 30,000 MILES APART. I HAD TO GET THE PDF REPLACED, CATALYIC REPLACED, SCR SENSORS...THE CHECK ENGINE KEEPS COMING BACK ON...I WOULD DRIVE ABOUT 30 MILES ,CHECK ENGINE LIGHTS COMES ON AND I WOULD START LOSING POWER..TO WHERE IT WOULD SHUT DOWN ITSELF

COMING OFF A HIGHWAY AT AROUND 50 MPH THE YELLOW CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND THE ENGINE STARTED MAKING A "POPPING" SOUND AND JERKING AS IF MISFIRING. CONNECTED A CODE READER TO TRUCK AND 5 ISSUES WERE FOUND. ENGINE CODES P0544, P244D, P242D & P242C WERE LISTED STATING "EXHAUST GAS TEMP SENSOR" AND "EXHAUST TEMP HIGH FOR DPF" ALONG WITH CODE P0204 "NUMBER 4 FUEL INJECTOR CIRCUIT OPEN". HAD VEHICLE TOWED TO DEALERSHIP AND THE DIESEL MECHANIC STATED THE "GRAVED CONNECTOR F131 ON CYLINDER #4 WAS AT FAULT AND THAT THE CONNECTOR "SPREAD TERMINALS WERE CAUSING POOR CONTACT WITH INJECTOR". STATED THE ENGINE CONTROL HARNESS (WIRING HARNESS), NEEDED REPLACING. VEHICLE HAD ONLY ~62500 MILES ON IT AT THE TIME.

I'M HAVING FED BACK THROUGH THE SPEAKERS PERIODICALLY. 2OR3 TIMES A MONTH. WITH OR WITHOUT RADIO ON. THE DRIVER (ME ) MOVE MY LEFT FOOT AROUND THIS CAUSES FED BACK/ STATIC SOUND COME OVER TO RADIO. I'VE TURNED IT IN TO NISSAN AND THEY CLAIM NOTHING IS WRONG. THEY'VE CLAIMED TO REMOVE THE SEAT TO CHECK FOR WIRES. BOLTS WERE NOT TOUCHED?? ALSO CLAIMED NO WIRES UNDER FLOOR BOARD.

DRIVING FROM NEVADA TO LOS ANGELES CA ON HIGHWAY 395. THREE TIMES WHILE AT SPEED MY VEHICLE TURNED OFF FOR THREE TO FIVE SECONDS. I LOST POWER STEERING, REAR TIRES FELT LIKE THEY LOCKED UP. CAR WOULD THEN POWER BACK ON AND I WOULD REGAIN POWER STEERING AND CONTINUE DOWN THE ROAD. THIS OCCURRED THREE TIMES IN 40 MILES TODAY. THIS VEHICLE HAS BEEN BACK TO THE DEALER I BOUGHT IT FROM WHERE THEY COULD FIND NOTHING WRONG WITH IT.
