7/15/19 3:40 PM RUSH HOUR, BEGAN ENTERING A STATE RD TO CROSS BOTH LANES, TRAFFIC TRAVELING BOTH DIRECTIONS POSTED 55 MPH MOVED IN A STRAIGHT LINE HALFWAY INTO ONCOMING TRAFFIC, BUT SUDDENLY COULD NOT ACCELERATE. FRONT DIFFERENTIAL HAS AXLE POPPED OUT, AFTER RESEARCHING I HAVE FOUND THAT THIS IS SUCH A COMMON PROBLEM THAT NISSAN HAS REDESIGNED THE FRONT DIFFERENTIAL TO CORRECT THE ISSUE. I HAVE TWO OPTIONS, FIRST TO TAKE TO A SHOP AND HAVE THEM REPLACE THE C CLIP ONLY TO FAIL AGAIN DOWN THE ROAD OR SECOND TO REPLACE THE FRONT DIFFERENTIAL WITH THE FLAWED DESIGN FOR OVER $2500. WOULD LIKE TO SEE NISSAN ISSUE A RECALL TO CORRECT THE FLAWED DESIGN. WHILE DRIVING ON THE INTERSTATE THE REAR DIFFERENTIAL OF MY TRUCK GAVE OUT AND STARTED SMOKING. I LOST ALL POWER TO CONTROL THE MOMENTUM OF THE TRUCK, ALMOST CAUSING IT TO FLIP BECAUSE I WAS IN THE MIDDLE OF CHANGING LANES WHILE DRIVING 73 MPH. I MANAGED TO COAST TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND UPON INSPECTION OF THE PASSENGER SIDE REAR AXLE I FOUND ALL FLUID HAD LEAKED OUT ONTO THE REAR WHEEL AND IT WAS SMOKING. UPON COMPLETION OF THEIR INSPECTION, I WAS GIVEN A COPY OF NISSAN'S SERVICE BULLETIN REFERENCE #NTB10-032 2004 - 2008 TITAN, REAR AXLE SEAL LEAKS. THEIR LISTED REQUIRED ACTION IS TO "INSTALL THE NEW AXLE SHAFT ASSEMBLY---WHICH INCLUDES A NEW RETAINER, AXLE BEARING, OIL SEAL, BEARING CAGE, AND ABS ROTOR---LISTED IN THE PARTS INFORMATION TABLE". WHEN I PUT VEHICLE IN DRIVE, IT WOULD ONLY GO IN REVERSE. I DISCOVERED THE LINKAGE FROM THE GEARSHIFT LEVER TO THE CABLE HAD SEPARATED. I FIRST FELT AND HEARD A LOUD CLANKING NOISE COMING FROM THE REAR END WHILE ACCELERATING FROM A STOP LIGHT. APPROXIMATELY 30 SECONDS LATER I FELT IT AGAIN WHILE ENTERING THE ON RAMP TO A FREEWAY GOING APPROXIMATELY 25 MPH. I PULLED OVER AND INSPECTED THE REAR END OF MY TRUCK AND FOUND NO VISIBLE DAMAGE OR LEAKING OF FLUIDS. I GOT BACK IN MY TRUCK AND STARTED TO ACCELERATE AND IMMEDIATELY FELT AND HEARD THE CLANKING NOISE AGAIN. I THEN DROVE STRAIGHT TO THE NISSAN DEALERSHIP WHICH FORTUNATELY WAS ONLY TWO MILES AWAY. THE NISSAN SERVICE DEPARTMENT DID AN INSPECTION AND DETERMINE THE GEARS IN DIFFERENTIAL WERE BINDING. THE NISSAN TECHNICIANS WERE UNABLE TO DETERMINE WHY A DIFFERENTIAL WITH ONLY 53,000 MILES THAT WAS MAINTAINED AS WELL AS MINE WAS WOULD FAIL. STARTED HAVING OVER HEATING ISSUES IN 8/2012. EVENTUALLY HAD RADIATOR COMPLETELY REPLACED IN 2/14. HAD TRANSMISSION FLUSHED AROUND SAME TIME. ON 3/26/14, I WAS ON THE INTERSTATE GOING 65MPH WHEN I LOST USE OF THE TRANSMISSION, CAUSING THE ENGINE TO STALL, BARELY AVOIDING A SERIOUS ACCIDENT. TODAY FOUND OUT THERE IS A DEFECT WITH NISSAN RADIATORS OVER HEATING AND CAUSING COOLANT TO LEAK INTO THE TRANSMISSION, DETERIORATING THE GEARS OVER TIME. WHILE DOING A LIQUIDS CHECK I NOTICED THE COOLANT RESERVOIR WAS LOW. I ADDED DISTILLED WATER TO THE RADIATOR AND LOOKED UNDERNEATH TO LOOK FOR A LEAK. I FOUND COOLANT LEAKING FROM THE TRANSMISSION LINE AT THE BOTTOM OF THE RADIATOR. AS I BACKED INTO MY GARAGE, I HEARD THE COOLANT RESERVOIR PRESSURIZE AND START TO OVERFLOW. THE RESERVOIR WAS FILLED WITH TRANNY FLUID. I DRAINED THE TRANSMISSION AND FOUND COOLANT IN THE TRANSMISSION. I DON'T KNOW HOW MANY MILES I DROVE THE VEHICLE IN THIS CONDITION BUT I'M AFRAID THE TRANSMISSION IS DAMAGED AND I CAN'T GET THE COOLANT COMPLETELY OUT OF THE TRANSMISSION. I'VE DRAINED AND FILLED IT TWICE SO FAR AND STILL HAVE SIGNS OF COOLANT.
