2013 NISSAN ROGUE Engine Problems

No warning light. Going down the freeway at About 70-80 mph then the accelerator stops working. It goes down to about 44 mph with my foot floored in gas pad. I have to get off the road and then let her set to cool . This went on over and over on a recent 15 hour trip I had the transmission sensors evaluated and it was indicated they were no good replaced one but need 2 and one reordered. If was . Waiting on replacement and the outside parts so I'll keep up with the changes we do to if they are wrong. Also replacing outside transmission filter.

I was in a head on collision going 55-60mph with no airbags deployed. Car started a dripping fire. I have seatbelt lacerations starting from collarbone/neck area cross my chest, breast and right side ribs including deep bruising on lower abdomen and pelvic area. Police would not let me in my car bc air bags could potentially go off at any time but car made it to the tow-yard still without airbags going off. No warning or recalls sent to me since I bought the car in May of 2022.

Vehicle has a habit of losing speed, even on cruise control, when going more than 70 mph for extended times and dropping below 60 when doing so on Interstate with no warning lights or system notifications. The most recent occurence was on Saturday, June 7th when driving on the interstate and cruise control engaged at 73 mph when it cut off, dropped to just below 60 without warning and would not accelerate back when pedal completely depressed and then AC system started blowing HOT air and compressor would not kick back on. First attempted to check freon and those levels are not the issue- air blows but blows hot without cooling at all. This did occur in sustained temps in the low to mid-90s.

My car is a 2013 Rogue S with 118,000 miles. Two weeks ago I was on the I-95 at around 70 miles an hour and the car suddenly goes to 45 miles, despite my insistence to maintain my speed, I had to give up and pull over to the right ... I was able to go home at low speed and this experience traumatized me. After that I consulted a mechanic who told me without joking that these cars have the worst transmission and I should contact Nissan. I contacted Nissan customer service to explain the problem, they told me no and gave me a case number (52135330). After checking, it turns out that following repeated complaints Nissan would have increased the warranty up to 120,000 miles, but not for me!

Along with the purchase, I purchased the “extended” warranty for $2400 to cover the drive-train. All was running well until the temperatures starting climbing into the 90’s consistently. Since about 100,000 miles the engine valve cover/gasket is leaking engine oil which has leaked below and caused deterioration on other parts below like the tie rod boots etc. Vehicle is currently in the shop and I can send any documentation once I get it back.

#1 I have been completely affected by the KNOWN defect in the Nissan transmissions with the first instance being my on the interstate, 4 hours from home with my child only, and we lost power while driving the interstate. While driving up a mountain with no guard rails, my car lost power and failed to accelerate. The car was still running and I had the gas pedal pressed all the way to the floor but we weren’t moving. I then had to reverse my car down a narrow, no guard rail mountain road, while also directing traffic coming at us and behind us to go around my vehicle. All with my 68 year old father and 62 year old stepmom passengers who were terrified; I was also but had to hold it together to get my family to safety. While driving home from vacation I started noticing my car wasn't letting me drive over 65 mph. It felt like the car need to shift but wouldn't. I pulled over and turned my car off. Opened the hood of the car and everything seemed ok. When I got back on the road and started to pass traffic my car wouldn't engage when pushing on the petal. Transmission is the issue. It is available for inspection. I have to have my transmission fluid changed every 8,000 miles - my car will stop at red lights/stop signs. The RPM’s will go up but the car will not move. This has almost caused multiple accidents as the car behind me thinks I am going when I cannot move. If I stop, I may not get going for several seconds. It’s taken up to a couple minutes at times. This has been looked at by our mechanic and it does this for him as well. There are NO warnings. No check engine light, no change in the car. No signs of this happening. It is terrifying not knowing when this may happen. The transmission fluid is black when we get it changed after inly 8,000 miles.

Transmission failure was diagnosed. The car stopped accelerating on me on winding back roads putting myself and others at risk. Nissan told me there are no recalls so they will not repair it. This is the second issue I had with the car, however the first was not related to safety concerns. This one most certainly is! I was driving down the highway from the airport headed back home, and the car started to lose power. My foot was pressing the pedal to accelerate but the RPMS went past 3-4K and the speed kept going down. No engine lights showed up on the dash or any type of warning. The transmission is going out and the car is less than 10 years old and it just hit 119,817 miles. I looked at the information on the Nissan Rogue's and it states that the manufacturer had a extended warranty on some of their Rogue's transmissions but not all of them for transmission repair, only some of their Rogues, because they apparently build a crappy transmission. My 2013 Rogue is having electrical issues and power transmission problems.

The contact owns a 2013 Nissan Rogue. The contact stated that while her husband was driving at a low rate of speed, the vehicle began to jerk as the check engine light illuminated the instrument panel. As the contact continued to drive, the vehicle would not accelerate above 5 MPH. Once the contact and her husband made it home she had the vehicle towed to an independent mechanic where the vehicle was diagnosed with transmission failure. The contact called County Line Nissan North(522 Winsted Rd, Torrington, CT 06790) and Balise Nissan of West Springfield(500 Riverdale St, West Springfield, MA 01089), and both referred her to the manufacturer for assistance. only a month after I bought the car I was going normal highway speeds(around 70mph) and it felt as if my car slipped into neutral, I had 0 acceleration and continued to slow down on the highway, I shifted into low gear and back to drive and it picked up again. This has happened four more times where the cars automatic transmission has slipped.

Vehicle loses power/ability to accelerate on longer drives, especially when up/down hills are involved.

After driving on the freeway in hot weather the car car decelerates and will not accelerate. Car goes from 65 MPH to around 40 MPH. This is a very dangerous situation in traffic. This has happened several times every year since we bought car. I have 'googled' this and it seems to be quite common with this Nissan model. Also other Nissan models. I am afraid to take this car on any road trip. Nissan will not address this issue. Something needs to be resolved before someone gets killed in this car!

When driving in approximately 90* weather on the highway, we lost all power/pickup and the car wouldn't get over approximately 45mph. This was an extreme safety hazard as the road we were on had no breakdown lane. We were eventually able to pull off the highway and let the vehicle cool for about 20 minutes and then we went backroads for the remainder of the drive. This has happened at least 5 additional times, all when driving on the highway in high temps and when the RPMs on the car are higher than 2K consistently. This is so dangerous and I cannot believe that Nissan isn't doing anything to make this safety issue right.

Purchased this car in 2015 from.Nissan dealership. The car randomly loses power when I'm on the highway. It's happened 3 times within the last 3 months. The car smokes a bit when this happens. Took it to my licensed mechanic who's owns a shop and was told my Transmission was fine, the fluids in the car where up to par and he couldn't find anything wrong with the engine. Was told Nissan Rogue has many issues with the CVT and its worth seeing if there are any open recalls on the car. So I checked by vin number and nothing came up. But as I do my research into other owners that have the same make and model as well year of my car, they are having the same issue. Wondering why hasn't this been looked into.

ON OUR RETURN TRIP FROM MIRAMAR BEACH, FL TO OUR HOME IN VESTAVIA HILLS, AL THE CAR'S SPEED ABRUPTLY REDUCED TO APPROXIMATELY 45 MPH AFTER DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 60 MPH ON A STATE HIGHWAY (FOR APPROXIMATELY 1 1/2 HOURS) BUT THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT RESPOND TO THE ACCELERATOR OTHER THAN TO "VROOM" WHEN I PRESSED IT WITH MY FOOT. THE PROBLEM WITH ACCELERATION DID NOT CORRECT ITSELF DURING THE REMAINING 75 MILES OF THE TRIP. WE ALSO SMELLED AN ODOR LIKE BURNED OIL WHEN WE STOPPED. VERY DANGEROUS AS ALL OTHER CARS PASSED US ON THIS ALABAMA STATE HIGHWAY AND THE SUBSEQUENT DISTANCE ON INTERSTATE-65. BASED ON WHAT WE HAVE READ ON THE INTERNET, INCLUDING SETTLEMENTS OF CLASS ACTION LAW SUITS AND EXTENDED WARRANTY AWARDS FOR EARLIER MODEL YEARS, WE BELIEVE THE PROBLEM IS RELATED TO THE NISSAN'S CVT TRANSMISSION AND IT'S FACTORY SETTINGS.

AFTER CRUISING THE CAR AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS (70MPH) FOR AROUND AN HOUR THE CAR BEGINS TO SLOW DOWN ON IT OWN AND EVEN FLOORING THE GAS PEDAL WON'T INCREASE THE SPEED, IT WILL JUST REV AT HIGH RPM AND START SLOWING DOWN. WE HAVE BEEN FOLLOWING THE RECOMMENDEDMAINTENANCE SCHEDULE AND OTHER RECOMMENDATIONS FROM NISSAN BUT NOW AFTER THE WARRANTY HAS ENDEDTHEY INFORMED US WE NEED TO REPAIR THE TRANSMISSION.NISSAN HAS BEEN ACTING VERY UNETHICALLY AND ARE NOT TAKING RESPONSIBILITYFOR THIS ISSUE THAT COULD BE FATAL TO OTHER DRIVERS.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO LOCATED FAILURE CODES AT THE ALTERNATOR AND CENTRAL DIAGNOSTIC. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 70,000.

VEHICLE LOSES POWER ON OCCASION AFTER BEING DRIVEN FOR MORE THAN A HALF AN HOUR

MY VEHICLE CONTINUES TO GO INTO LIMP MODE WHEN DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY. A MECHANIC STATES THAT IT THE CVT, TRANSMISSION ISSUE. I JUST WENT OVER MY WARRANTY AND NOW I'M GOING TO HAVE TO PAY OUT OF POCKET 3,000-5,000 DOLLARS TO HAVE FIXED. I HAVE SPOKE WITH MANY OTHERS THAT HAVE THE SAME MAKE AND MODEL, 2013-2018 WITH THE SAME ISSUE. I WAS IN THE FAST LANE AND MY VEHICLE WOULD NOT TAKE THE GAS AND ENDED UP ON THE SIDE OF THE RODE THREE TIMES DURING MY TRIP. ONCE I TURNED MY VEHICLE OFF, IT WOULD DRIVE NORMAL UNTIL I DROVE FOR ANOTHER HOUR OR MORE.

VEHICLE STARTS RUNNING HOT AFTER ON INTERSTATE FOR APPROX. 30 MIN, TEMP WILL RETURN TO NORMAL IF HEATER IS BEING RAN ON HIGH. DIAGNOSIS WAS THERMOSTAT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. VEHICLE RUNS HOT AFTER THERMOSTAT WAS CHANGED. WHILE ON INTERSTATE FOR APPROX. AN HOUR VEHICLE STILL RUNNING WARM. TEMP RETURNS TO NORMAL WHILE HEATER IS ON HIGH. WHILE ON CRUISE CONTROL RPMS INCREASED SUDDENLY TO 4500 WITH A SPEED OF 70. SLOWED DOWN TO 60 AND RMPS CONTINUED TO CLIMB TO 4500 UNTIL I PULLED OVER ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD.TORQUE CONVERTER CLUTCH SOLENOID FAILING. TEMP FIX, SPRAYED CONNECTION CLEANER ON TORQUE CONVERTER CLUTCH SOLENOID, RPMS ARE STILL SLIGHTLY ELEVATED FROM NORMAL, BUT MANAGEABLE FOR NOW.

I DID A RESEARCH ON THE 2013 NISSAN ROGUE. 2YRS AGO ON THE SAME TRUCK.WELL ANYWAY I DIDN'T THINK I WOULD HAVE ANY PROBLEMS WITH MY TRUCK UNTIL NOW. THE TRANSMISSION HAS NOW FAILED IN MY TRUCK. ITS HAS STALLED ON ME IN THE MIDDLE OF THE STREET AND HIGHWAY WHICH IS A DANGER TO ME AND OTHER CARS ON THE STREET. THE ELECTRICAL IN THE TRUCK WHEN TRYING TO DRIVE OVER THE SPEED LIMIT OR NOT THE TRUCK WILL START TO OVERHEAT AND SHUT DOWN ON ME IN THE STREET. THEN I WOULD HAVE TO SEAT AND WAIT AROUND AN HALF HOUR TO AN HOUR. I HAVE BEEN EXPERIENCING PROBLEMS FOR AWHILE BUT DIDN'T EXPECT IT TO GET THIS BAD.

THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURES AND STATED THAT THEY WOULD PAY 60% OF THE REPAIR COST. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 105,000.

THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 60,000.

WHEN DRIVING IN THE SUMMER HEAT AND GOING UP A HILL OR FOR A LONG PERIOD OF TIME, THE CAR STARTS TO SLOW DOWN, EVEN IF YOU PUSH THE GAS PEDAL ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR. SO AFTER LEARNING THAT, I HAVE GONE ONLINE AND FOUND THERE ARE SEVERAL PEOPLE WHO HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM WITH THEIR ROGUES. I WOULD HAVE LIKED TO KNOW THAT WAS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THAT CAR. MY 2013 NISSAN ROGUE AWD LOSES ACCELERATION ON THE HIGHWAY. I LIVE IN A MOUNTAINOUS AREA AND IT APPEARS TO HAPPEN WHEN ACCELERATING UP HILL. IT HAPPENS EVERY TIME AT BETWEEN 65-75 MPH. I WILL BE ACCELERATING UP A HILL AT 70 MPH AND IT WILL DROP DOWN TO SOMETIMES 50 MPH EVEN WHEN PRESSING I'M THE ACCELERATOR COMPLETELY. IT'S VERY DANGEROUS WHEN SEMI TRUCKS ARE PASSING YOU IN THE MOUNTAINS GOING 10 UNDER THE SPEED LIMIT. THIS IS A MAJOR ISSUE AND NISSAN SHOULD RECALL THEM IMMEDIATELY. I'VE HEARD OF MANY OTHER COMPLAINTS ACROSS THE GLOBE WITH THIS MODEL. MY ROGUE IS ONLY NOW AT 57,000 MILES. I NOTICED THE ISSUE AT 50,000 MILES. I AM AN EXCELLENT DRIVER AND I DO NOT SPEED.

THE 2013 NISSAN ROGUE WAS STATIONARY IN A PARKING LOT AND CAUGHT ON FIRE A FEW MINUTES AFTER THE ENGINE WAS TURNED OFF. THE VEHICLE ONLY HAD ABOUT 77,000 MILES ON IT WHEN THIS HAPPENED. THE VEHICLE WAS LOOKED AT BY AN ENGINEERING COMPANY AND SUGGESTED THAT THE FIRE WAS CAUSED IN THE ENGINE AREA.
