Recall 18V620000 — FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE:SOFTWARE:PEDESTRIAN/CYCLIST/OBJECT/OBSTACLE/ RECOGNITION
| 9,166 vehicles affected
Defect: Mitsubishi Motors North America (MMNA) is recalling certain 2018 Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV, Outlander Sport, 2018-2019 Eclipse Cross, and 2017-2018 Outlander vehicles equipped with a Forward Collision Mitigation (FCM) system that detects pedestrians. Due to incorrect software, the FCM-ECU (Electronic Control Unit) may apply braking for longer than needed, even after a pedestrian is no longer detected.
Consequence: If the FCM-ECU software activates the brake for longer than necessary, the driver may react by applying additional braking. The resulting rapid deceleration of the vehicle can increase the risk of a rear-end collision.
Remedy: MMNA will notify owners, and dealers will reprogram the FCM-ECU software with updated software, free of charge. The recall is began October 16, 2018. Owners may contact MMNA customer service at 1-888-648-7820. MMNA's number for this recall is SR-18-007.

The problem: You can drive fast or slow and at any given moment, the car display all alarms like the adaptive cruise control, emergency brake, engine. All the lights start to blink inside the car, there is a beep with those lights. The steering wheel does not move, gets locked, the brakes get locked (you cannot move the steer wheel or press the brakes), the engine starts to make a rattling sound and the car starts to bounce, then slowly the car starts shutting down until its off. This problem has been happening since I bought the car brand new on 2018. At the beginning, the car was inside the dealership ever so often to try to fix that problem. That recall was presented in other VIN numbers but not mine, but the dealer decided to "so call" fix it. The problem stopped happening for a while, then started again. It went back to the dealership in Schaumburg Mitsubishi. They told me without a receipt or notice, they fix it, again. When the dealership closed, I didnt know where to go or what to do. The case number left in Mitsubishi motors was only available for a year, so when I called again, I had to make a new case but there was no dealer no more. When I went to Gregory Mitsubishi, I explained the problem but they couldnt find anything and they couldnt get any information about my history because Schaumburg Mitsubishi was gone. I know how to manage the problem, I just have to move back to a safe spot quickly, sometimes doing unsafe maneuvers, so I wont cause an accident. This year so far, has happened another 4-5 times and I dont know what to do, because Jidd Mitsubishi dont want to do anything about it.
