WAS DRIVING MY CAR WITH CHILDREN IN IT WHEN THE WHEEL FELL OFF AND AXEL CRACKED. IT CAUSED FRONT END DAMAGE I COULDN'T GET OUT OF THE DRIVER SIDE DOOR BECAUSE IT WOULDN'T OPEN. HAD TO PAY TO GET ALL OF THAT FIXED. I JUST RECEIVE RECALL 8515G. MY ISSUE WITH THIS IS THAT THE RECALL DOES NOT CORRECT THE ISSUE. THE REASON FOR THE RECALL IS THAT WATER GET LEAK INTO THE SUSPENSION AND CAUSE CORROSION. REPLACING JUST THE CONTROL ARMS AND BALL JOINTS DOES NOT PREVENT THIS FROM HAPPENING AGAIN. WATER CAN STILL LEAK INTO THE SUSPENSION AND THE NEW PARTS COULD COULD CORRODE, BECOME LOOSE AND CAUSE THE SAME THING TO HAPPEN AGAIN BUT THIS TIME IT COULD RESULT IN MORE DIRE CONSEQUENCES. WE WERE LUCKY I WAS TRAVELING AT A LOW RATE OF SPEED THE FIRST TIME IT HAPPENED. THIS IS FORCING US TO BUY A...
I WAS DROPPING MY CHILDREN OFF TO DAYCARE TURNING INTO THE PARKING LOT AND GOING OVER A BUMP WHEN I HEARD A LOUD "POP" TOWARD THE FRONT OF THE CAR - THE CAR COMPLETELY STOPPED DEAD - I GOT OUT TO FIND THE FRONT RIGHT TIRE WAS COCKED HARD LEFT AND WAS OFF ITS CONTROL ARM - SOME FLUID WAS ALSO LEAKING OUT OF THE AXLE AREA. THIS HAPPENED THE MONDAY MORNING AFTER I RECEIVED THE RECALL NOTICE FROM MAZDA THIS PAST WEEKEND! I HAD THE FORM IN THE CAR TO CALL FOR SERVICE THIS WEEK. I HAVE CALLED THE SERVICE CENTER BUT THEY HAVE SAID THEY WILL NOT BE ABLE TO LOOK AT THE CAR UNTIL THURSDAY - NOW I WILL HAVE TOWING AND RENTAL EXPENSES CONNECTED WITH THIS DEFECT. FORTUNATELY NO ONE IN THE CAR WAS HURT OR THAT IT DIDN'T FAIL ON THE HIGHWAY!
I HAVE JUST LEARNED ABOUT ISSUES WITH THE MAZDA CX9 AND WHEELS FALLING OFF AND I REALIZED THAT IS EXACTLY WHAT HAPPENED TO ME. I ALWAYS TOOK CARE OF MY CX 9 BECAUSE I DRIVE A LOT FOR WORK AND DEPEND ON MY CAR VERY MUCH, SO WHEN ISSUES WITH THE STEERING STARTED I TOOK IT TO SEARS FOR A WHEEL ALIGNMENT SINCE I HAD JUST REPLACED A NEW SET OF TIRES A COUPLE OF MONTHS BEFORE, IT SEEMED OK AFTER THE ALIGNMENT UNTIL AGAIN THE SMALL SKIP OF THE STEERING STARTED EVERY TIME I TURN THE WHEEL, I DID THINK MUCH OF IT UNTIL IT STARTED INCREASING. EVERY TIME I TURNED THE WHEEL THE SKIP WAS THERE, I DECIDED TO CALL MY MECHANIC WHO ALWAYS DID ALL THE CAR SERVICE AND MAINTENANCE AND HE SAID TO BRING IT IN OVER THE WEEKEND TO TAKE A LOOK, BEFORE I HAD...
WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY COMING HOME FROM A TRIP I NOTICED THAT EVERY TIME I HIT A SMALL BUMP THE FRONT END WOULD MOVE ONE DIRECTION AND THEN COME BACK HARD THE OTHER WAY. WHEN I RETURNED HOME I TOOK THE CAR TO MY MECHANIC WHO INFORMED MY THAT MY LOWER BALL JOINTS WERE EXTREMELY LOOSE (1/2" OF MOVEMENT) AND THAT I WAS LUCKY THEY DID NOT FALL OUT. HE ALSO SAID IT WAS SO BAD THAT IT WASN'T EVEN SAFE FOR HIM TO TEST DRIVE THE CAR. BOTH SIDES HAD TO HAVE THE FOLLOWING REPLACED: OUTER TIE ROD, LOWER CONTROL ARM/BALL JOINT, AND THE SWAY BAR LINK. I FEEL VERY FORTUNATE THAT I DID NOT HAVE A WHEEL COME OFF WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY WITH MY FAMILY AS OTHERS HAVE EXPERIENCED WITH THIS SAME ISSUE.
YESTERDAY (6/21/15) AT APPROXIMATELY 630PM; MY WIFE WAS DRIVING OUR 2007 MAZDA CX9 GRAND TOURING (AWD). AS SHE WAS PULLING OUT OF A SUBDIVISION AT APPROXIMATELY 10MPH, SHE HEARD A LOUD BANG AND THEN IMMEDIATELY LOST CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE. THERE WAS NO OTHER TRAFFIC IN THE VICINITY AND SHE WAS ABLE TO MAINTAIN CONTROL AND GET STOPPED. THE RIGHT FRONT PASSENGER WHEEL AT BROKEN FREE OF THE SUSPENSION AND STEERING MECHANISM. ACCORDING TO THE REPAIR SHOP THE LOWER BALL JOINT BROKE, PUSHED OUT AND BROKE THE AXLE SHAFT. ALSO THE FORCE OF THE SHIFTING WHEEL/TIRE PUSHED THE RIGHT QUARTER-PANEL INTO THE RIGHT PASSENGER DOOR, MAKING THE DOOR INOPERABLE. I'VE HEARD OF OTHERS WITH THIS SAME INCIDENT WITH THE CX9. FORTUNATELY THIS OCCURRED AT LOW SPEED, WITH NO OTHER TRAFFIC OR PEDESTRIANS IN THE AREA.
WHILE BACKING OUT OF MY DRIVEWAY THE RIGHT FRONT BALL JOINT SEPARATED AND THEN THE PULLED WHEEL AWAY FROM THE VEHICLE, PULLING THE AXLE OUT. WE HAD TO REMOVE THE WHEEL, INSERT THE AXLE AND PUT THE WHEEL BACK ON BEFORE WE COULD EVEN MOVE THE CAR ONTO THE TOW TRUCK.
I HAVE THE SAME STEERING PROBLEM WITH MY 2007 MAZDA CX-9 AS NOTED IN OTHER COMPLAINTS. STEERS TO THE LEFT AUTOMATICALLY SINCE DAY 1. DEALER HAS TRIED TO ADJUST FRONT END, TIRE PRESSURE, ETC. AT LEAST 2 OR 3 TIMES AND HAVE SAID THEY CAN'T DO ANYTHING ELSE. *TR
SINCE THE FIRST DAY I HAD THE NEW CAR IT HAS PULLED TO THE LEFT, IT HAS BEEN IN THE SHOP 4 TIMES TO BE FIXED, EACH TIME I GET THE CAR BACK WITH THE SAME PULLING PROBLEM, ON THE FINAL TIME IT WAS IN THEY TRIED TO FIX IT 3 TIMES UNSUCCESSFULLY, THEY FINALLY CALLED ME AND TOLD ME THERE WAS NOTHING ELSE THEY COULD DO.
