Car cut off whilst driving without warning
Failed Emissions Test for Engine light being on. Took to mechanic and he specified that it was my gas cap that needed replacing and I did so, but light is still on. No leakage was present at the time when mechanic checked, however, in the past there was a smell of gas inside the vehicle but it's no longer present at the moment.
We’ve had our engine replaced by Kia for an issue with models with the turbo installed. The turbo seized up and in turn caused our engine to fail, so Kia said they knew about the issue and gave us a new engine and turbo at no cost to us and also gave us a unlimited mileage warranty for the engine because of the issue. Now just about a year later of them installing the new parts, the same issue has arisen. Turbo failed and in turn it messed up the engine, the Kia dealership we have it in has told us that they will not cover it under warranty and that the turbo isn’t apart of the warranty either.
Engine failed and the vehicle stopped in the middle of the road. The engine is now knocking.
On 8/26/2021 I was driving up the Hwy and my kia optima started to slow down on its own.. the battery light, and engine light was flickering on and off, and oil light came on.. I checked the oil and it read 70%. On dash.. I beared off to the right shoulder out of traffic. I was originally going about 65mph it dropped all the way down to 10mph. Pulled over and the the car stopped. Tried starting the car back up but it made a clicking sound. I called a tow truck. The tow truck hauled it to a local mechanic. Mechanic diagnosed the problem being that the car had medal on the oil timing sensors known as the vvt timing solenoid sensor. He changed the oil. But still did not fix the problem. Driving on the interstate just as I was getting off the car stalled on the offramp. I managed to get it going again about a mile down the road, I was making a left across the highway and it stalled on me again I managed to coast into a driveway without incident. I had an oil light the check engine lightAnd a battery light come on. After coasting into a driveway I could no longer get the car to start. I just bought the car four months ago with only 32000 miles on it. Brought it back to the dealer I bought it from and they recommended I tow it back to Kia as the engine may have seized as it is a known problem. Been almost a week stuck with no car after buying a practically brand new one. I’m still waiting to hear back from the Kia dealership.

The vehicle stalled with several unknown warning lights illuminated on the instrument panel. The contact was able to steer the vehicle off to the shoulder of the highway and had the vehicle towed to an independent mechanic. The independent mechanic diagnosed the vehicle with engine failure. The vehicle was then towed to a dealer where they also diagnosed the vehicle with engine failure and stated that the vehicle was not under recall. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. Engine burns a lot of oil. I’ve had my engine oil changed very regularly by professional shops since I bought it new in 2014. I started changing the oil myself after only 2000 miles and noticed only 3 quarts came out of quarts 5 I put in. I changed the pcv valve and it did not solve the problem. There are no leaks. None of the mechanics ever told me my car was low on oil so I don’t know how long it’s been burning oil. I’ve been adding oil regularly in between oil changes since I first noticed the problem. I’m glad I never missed an oil change or my engine could be dead from lack of lubrication.
I bought the car from an individual in April. The end of May My engine started knocking while I was driving and it stalls out and will not drive. I contacted Kia because there was an open recall on the engine to see if they will look at it. They told me they will not even look at it or fix it because the person who owned the car before me did not fix other recalls.

WHILE DRIVING IN TRAFFIC, THE VEHICLE CUT OFF AND I HAD TO COAST TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. AFTER SEVERAL ATTEMPTS, THE VEHICLE FINALLY STARTED. THIS IS THE 3RD TIME THIS HAS HAPPENED.
MY ENGINE SEIZED, I HAD IT TOWED TO A KIA DEALERSHIP, THEY SAID KIA WOULD NOT REPLACE THE ENGINE BECAUSE OF RECALLS NOT DONE BEFORE I BOUGHT THE CAR. THERE IS CURRENTLY A CLASS ACTION LAW SUIT FOR THIS ENGINE, BUT I HAVE TO PAY OVER 8,000 FOR AN ENGINE TO BE PAID BACK, I STILL OWE 10,000 ON THIS CAR. ON APRIL 9, 2021 MY HUSBAND WAS DRIVING MY KIA ON THE GARDEN STATE PARKWAY. THE CAR JUST STOPPED RUNNING AND MY HUSBAND WAS ABLE TO (BY THE SKIN OF HIS TEETH) VEER OFF TO THE SHOULDER. DUE TO THE FAILURE, THE CONTACT HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE THEY INFORMED HIM THAT THE ENGINE HAD SEIZED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE CONTACT HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED TO HIS HOME AND ANOTHER MECHANIC INSPECTED THE VEHICLE AND DIAGNOSED THE VEHICLE WITH THE SAME FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS THEN NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND REFERRED HIM TO THE LOCAL DEALER FOR ASSISTANCE. A LOCAL SHOP DIAGNOSED THE CAR AND SAID THE ENGINE SEIZED. BEFORE I BROUGHT IT TO THE SHOP A LOCAL MECHANIC SAID THAT THE BEARING(S)/ NEEDS TO BE REPLACED AND SAID THAT THE ENGING IS VERY CLOSE TO SEIZING. I CALL MY LOCAL KIA DEALERSHIP AND ASKED ABOUT IT, THEY SAID THAT THERE IS ONLY 1 RECALL SHOWING ON THE KIA WEBSITE. I HAVE SCREENSHOTS OF 4 DIFFERENT RECALLS AND 1 OF THEM SAYS BEARING DEFFECT CAN CAUSE THE ENGINE TO SEIZE. SO IDK IF THEY ARE TRYING TO NOT ENTERTAIN MY RECALL BUT THEY ALSO SAID THAT I WOULD HAVE TO TOWE IT THERE AND THEY WILL DO TAKE CARE OF THE RECALL THAT IS SHOWING UP ON THEIR END WHICH IS NOT THE REASON WHY THE CAR IS DOWN. LUCKILY THE CAR DIED WHEN I STOPPED AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT AND I WAS JUST STUCK ON THE ROAD.
THE CAR HAS LIFETIME ENGINE WARRANTY AND KIA DEALERSHIP CONFIRMED THE SAME AND THEY ARE STILL REJECTING ME TO FIX MY ENGINE EVEN I OFFERED TO PAY A FAIR PART OF THE REPAIR, THE ENGINE IS CONSUMING OIL LIKE CRAZY 1 QUART PER 250 MILES ITS MAKES TICKING SOUND WHEN ACCELERATING AND KIA SEEMS LIKE THEY DONT CARE EVEN IF IT HAS A LIFETIME ENGINE WARRANTY

CHECK ENGINE LIGHT HAS BEEN ON FOR A WEEK. HAD APPT TO GO IN 2/2/21 WITH KIA BUT DRIVING DOWN THE INTERSTATE STARTED HEARING A LIGHT TICKING SOUND. WHEN I ACCELERATED ON THE GAS IT DIDNT DO ANYTHING. RECALL ON ENGINE WAS REPLACED 2 YEARS AGO FOR HAVING METAL SHAVINGS IN THE OIL. THE SECOND MOTOR HAS 15,000 MILES ON IT AND IT'S BURNING OIL AND SMOKING TO WHERE YOU CAN'T SEE ANYTHING. I WAS GETTING ON I 65 GOING NORTH AND SMOKE CAME OUT. IT HESITATES TO GO. CAN'T DRIVE IT OVER 45-50. STEERING HAS A RECALL FOR A PLASTIC CUFFLING BEHIND STEERING WHEEL. IT WAS REPLACED LAST YEAR ACCORDING TO RIVERCHASE KIA IN PELHAM ALABAMA. IT IS NOW MAKING A POPPING NOISE AGAIN. CONDENSATION IS GETTING IN TAIL LIGHTS CAUSING THE BULBS TO BLOW. CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND THEN WHEN TRYING TO EXCELLERATE ON THE GAS TO ENTER ONTO THE HIGHWAY, THE ENGINE STARTED BOGGING DOWN AND NOT PICKING UP SPEED. TOOK IT TO O'REILLY AUTOPARTS TO GET THE ENGINE CODE AND IT CAME BACK AS A FAULTY BOOST CONTROL POSITION SENSOR CIRCUIT.
I WAS ON THE HIGHWAY TRAVELING ROUGHLY 65 MILES , I HAD LITERALLY JUST GOTTEN ONTO THE HIGHWAY. I WENT TO ACCELERATE AND THE CAR JUST WOULDN'T , THE RPMS AND MPH JUST WENT DOWN AND ALL LIGHTS CAME ON THE DASH. I HAD TO PULL OVER. I SHUT CAR OFF, CAR HAS NOT BEEN ABLE TO START SINCE THAT DAY. THE CAR WAS COMPLETELY FULL OF OIL AND THE FILTER WAS CLEAN. THE CAR HAD COOLANT IN IT, NO LEAKS. I USE THE SAME SHOP FOR ALL MECHANICAL WORK SO HE HAS ALL RECORDS OF MY MAINTENANCE.
SHAVINGS FOUND IN OIL CAUSING ENGINE SEIZURE
I WAS DRIVING DOWN I-4 DOWNTOWN ORLANDO WHEN MY CAR SHUT COMPLETELY OFF. I WAS TOLD MY TIMING CHAIN WAS BROKEN. ONLY HAD THIS CAR A YEAR. JUST GOT A OIL CHANGE.
I EXPERIENCE A BMS WARNING LIGHT ON MY HYBRID VEHICLE INDICATING TO STOP THE VEHICLE AND DO NOT DRIVE. THIS HAPPEN ON THE FAST LANE OF THE 14 FREEWAY IN ACTON CA. I TOOK THE CAR TO THE LOCAL KIA I WAS TOLD IT WAS THE HYBRID COOLANT A COMPUTER PROGRAM AND A HYBRID DRIVE BELT REPLACED THE COMPUTER PROGRAM. AFTER RECEIVING AN REGULAR MAINTENANCE OIL CHANGE ON 8/25/20 @3:42PM MY VEHICLE STARTED TO TURN OFF AND ON AND LOUD KNOCKING COMING FROM THE ENGINE SO I IMMEDIATELY TURNED AROUND AND WENT BACK TO JIFFY LUBE WHERE I RECEIVED THE OIL CHANGE AND THEY PERFORMED A SECOND OIL CHANGE BAFFLED AS TO WHY MY VEHICLE WAS MAKING THE NOISE AFTER THE OIL CHANGE AFTER THE 2 CONSECUTIVE OIL CHANGE THE KNOCKING WAS WORSE AND THEY INSTRUCTED ME TO GO TO A DEALERSHIP ASAP....AS I WAS GOING TO THE CLOSEST DEALERSHIP MY VEHICLE STOPPED REPEATEDLY ON THE HIGHWAY MY 5 YEAR OLD GRAND DAUGHTER AND I WAS TERRIBLY AFRAID PEOPLE WERE HONKING THEIR HORNS SPEEDING PAST AND MY CAR STOPPED UNDER A BRIDGE TURN ABOUT STOPPING TRAFFIC AND IT WAS VERY FRIGHTENING AND FRUSTRATING WHEN I MADE IT TO THE DEALERSHIP THE MAN TOLD ME THAT I WOULD HAVE TO PAY...
WE WERE GETTING OFF THE HIGHWAY HEADED HOME THE CAR MADE A LOUD NOISE AS WE WERE APPROACHING THE LIGHT ONE I'VE NEVER HEARD BEFORE I DIDN'T THINK ANYTHING OF IT SO AS WE PULLED OFF FROM THE LIGHT GOT DOWN THE STREET THE CAR JUST LOCKED UP AND SHUT OFF LIKE THERE WAS A FLASH OF LIGHT OR SOMETHING COMING FROM THE HOOD AND IT DIDN'T WANT TO STOP SCARED ME AND MY KIDS SO AFTER I MADE SURE EVERYTHING WAS OKAY I WAITED TIL WE STOPPED PUT IT BACK IN PARK AND TURNED MY KEY BACK OVER TO PULL OVER OUT THE STREET FULLY SO I CAN CHECK IT THERE IT WAS MY ALTERNATOR BRACKET BROKE WITHOUT A CLUE WHY NO PHYSICAL CONTACT OR ANYTHING WHATSOEVER ALTERNATOR IS NOT DAMAGED NEITHER WAS THE BELT ON IT BAD I KNOW THAT WHEN I TOOK IT TO A MECHANIC AND...
I HAD TAKEN THE VEHICLE TO THE KIA DEALER IN ORANGE COUNTY, AND THEY CHARGED ME EXTRA TO RESOLVE THE RECALL, AND THE VEHICLE'S AIR CONDITIONING SYSTEM IS NO LONGER WORKING, THE GAS INTAKE IS RIDICULOUS, AND THE CAR DOES NOT HAVE THE SAME POWER AS IT USED TO.
I WAS DRIVING ON THE ROAD ON A NICE SUNNY DAY, AND WHILE MY VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION ALL OF A SUDDEN MY ENGINE SHUTS OFF AND I LOSE POWER. MY CAR WON'T START AND I HAD A MECHANIC INSPECT MY CAR AND HE SAYS EVERYTHING CHECKS EXCEPT FOR THE ENGINE. HE SAYS THE ENGINE IS SEIZED. KIA HAS TECH SERVICE BULITEN TSB FOR RECALL CAMPAIGN FOR THIS EXACT ISSUE. I'M CURIOUS AS TO WHY MY VEHICLE HASN'T BEEN RECALLED YET. THIS IS DANGEROUS.

DRIVING DOWN IN MOTION ON A VILLAGE ROAD GOING 40 MPH, CAR COMPLETELY SHUT OFF, LOST POWER STEERING, I HAD TO PULL CAR OVER WITHOUT POWER STEERING TO SIDE OF BUSY ROAD, CAR WOULD NOT STOP RIGHT AWAY AND PARK WOULD NOT ENGAGED RIGHT AWAY INTO PARK, CAR THEN ROLLED FORWARD ABOUT 10 FEET AND SLAMMED INTO PARK.
