The ICCU system in my 2022 Kia EV6 failed for the SECOND time on the highway. The car threw an error telling me to "Check the electrical system" and "Pull over safely immediately" or something similar. Had I not made it to the shoulder, I would have been completely stranded in the middle of the highway, creating an incredibly dangerous situation. This is the second time this has happened with my EV6 in less than 50,000 miles on this car. I had to call a tow truck. I confirmed with the Kia dealership the ICCU system had randomly failed and was required to be replaced *AGAIN*. My wife was in the car with me and was freaked out. She doesn't feel safe in it because there's no rhyme or reason to when it happens. KIA says it is a known issue, and confirmed it was the second time this has...

While driving in traffic I heard a pop, then the "Check Electric Vehicle System" warning came on the dashboard. After a minute or so the dash warning changed to "Stop Vehicle" and the car limped home but at a lower speed. This matched the description I had seen of ICCU failures on Kia and Hyundai EVs. Dealer confirmed this was in fact the issue, and I had it replaced under warranty. This was a safety issue for me and my family because when it failed I was driving in traffic on a four-lane road at night, in <40-degree weather, and it requires a tow to the dealership for repair. Although I now have a new ICCU, I am also now concerned that it might happen again. The vehicle has not been inspected by police, insurance or manufacturer that I'm aware of.

While driving at speed, I heard a pop noise from the car. A few seconds later, I received notification to check vehicle electric system. The vehicle slowed down despite my increasing throttle input. I was able to limp to a parking lot where it was flat bed towed. This experience matches a previous issue I had when it was diagnosed with an ICCU failure with the same vehicle.

Integrated charging control unit (ICCU) failed. While my failure prevents ac charging, the unit is could also fail causing the 12v battery not to charge and the car to power down while driving on the highway. There were no indication of part failure.

This electric vehicle failed to charge at level 2 charger at home. It charged at level 3 fast chargers however it registered a full charge at 125 miles and the level of charge in % and miles remaining fluctuated with sudden shifts. There were no warning lights or other signs of problems. I took it to the dealership who wanted me to keep driving and wait a week for an appointment. I knew that this could indicate an ICCU failure for the second time and insisted. Also asked that charging port and 12v be tested It was the second ICCU failure which can lead to a dead stop without warning in traffic. This is the second failure in this car.

On last Feb-2025, Car stopped while driving, message pop up electrical problem, stop the car immediately, it did not have time to properly park, stopped in middle of the road and have to wait 3 hours for tow truck, car wont open or move, all electric dead. (ICCU, fuse and 12V battery replaced) on last week 01/26/26 at 64K miles, message pop up again on screen dash, electrical problem, stop car. i was able to drive at 30mph to dealer and leave the car. after 8 days on lot, i got a call from dealer, ICCU needs to be replaced, not sure when part will be received. Driving a rental while

I was driving and experience a loss in power and got the Check Electrical Vehicle System error message. As I was trying to get to safe location to stop, I got the Power Limited warning message and lost even more power then got the Stop Vehicle and Check Power Supply warning. I did not have any warning lights prior to this happening. I had my car towed to a KIA dealership for inspection and am waiting for their findings. It was at the KIA dealership 12/22/2025 for the latest safety recall update.

ICCU failed preventing the vehicle from being charged and killing the 12v battery.

Bought this car in 2022 and had no problems until 1/2/26. Car was charging at home and suddenly stopped. Got a check electrical system warning light. Took it to the dealer to get checked out and the ICCU needs to be replaced. Despite everything online saying that it is covered on the 10 year/100,000 EV warranty, they are denying that it is covered under warranty. They say it is covered by the basic 60,000 mile warranty which I am a whopping 8,000. There has been multiple recalls on the ICCU, all software because Kia can't be bothered fixing their bad designs. Getting rid of this junk car and never buying a Kia again as I will not trust my life and safety with such a horrible company that doesn't care one bit about it's customers.

The ICCU charge control unit for Kia electric vehicles that immediately depletes the 12v battery & significantly reduces motive power forcing you to pull over with no countdown to how long one has in terms of distance or duration. This uncertainty is absolutely unsafe as you cannot know how long it is safe to keep driving before the vehicle ceases to move. This ICCU failure has been affecting several 2022 onwards Kia vehicles & even replacing this component does not guarantee this failure will not recur & needs serious action & accountability to Kia.

While driving, the car all of a sudden lost power - forcing me to pull over. If this were to happen while on the freeway, a crash would have been imminent. This is a known issue with kia/Hyundai EV's where the ICCU fails and causes the vehicle to lose power suddenly.
#11706602 |
My ICCU failed while I was driving and I lost power while in a light controlled intersection in Chicago. The screen turned off and I could not see my speedometer or any driving information. I luckily was able to roll to the side of the road and park the car. My car could not change gears, doors would not work, trying to jumpstart the 12V did not work.

In November 2024, my 2022 Kia EV6 became suddenly non-drivable due to electrical failure consistent with a repeat ICCU/12-volt system malfunction. The vehicle would not start or maintain normal electrical power and became stuck in accessory mode, creating a loss of propulsion and complete loss of transportation. This vehicle previously experienced an ICCU failure earlier in 2024 that required dealership repair and battery replacement. After that repair, the vehicle again developed electrical failure symptoms, including loss of 12-volt power and inability to operate. Due to the unsafe non-drivable condition, Kia Roadside Assistance directed and arranged a tow to a Kia dealership. Upon arrival at the dealership, new undercarriage and wheel-well damage was documented within approximately 90 minutes of drop-off. This damage was not present prior to towing and is located where tow equipment attaches. The vehicle remains in the possession of the dealership and is available for full inspection. The...

Not charging on Level 1, Level 2 chargers, only level 3. ICCU problem confirmed by dealer diagnostic even after recall software update was installed.

Once again, the ICCU on the car failed requiring intervention / towing. This is the second outage of the ICCU. This issue happened in early April 2025 (April 8th I believe). My car was parked at work. I entered my car after work and turned on the car. I heard a pop from the rear passenger side identical to the issue as it had happened last January (2024). Shortly thereafter, the check electrical system warning came on. I briefly attempted to drive car to move it to where would likely be an easier spot for the purposes of towing (one parking lot over that is not gated). During that brief drive (roughly 1/4 of a mile), the car immediately began issuing warnings requesting that I pull over and stop. I entered the nearby parking lot and parked the car where it was towed the next day to the dealership.

Regarding NHTSA Recall No. \/ MFR Recall No. : 24V-867 \/ SC327, I have contacted Kia America by email who is avoiding to take action in rectifying the SC327 defect. From March 11th to March 15th 2025 I have emailed Kia several times to address the issue of my Kia EV6 car, the lack of response from their side compels me to lodge a complaint with you. Please intervene in my case with Kia. Below is the latest correspondence from Kia.

Vehicle went into limp mode and was unable to exceed 20 mph on a 45 mph street. Was told by the dealership the the ICCU unit, which was under recall, would need to be replaced. The dealership has had my vehicle for over a month and is becoming increasingly unresponsive.

My EV6 lost power while driving on a busy street. It went into 'Turtle Mode' which allowed me to pull off onto a side road and then all power to the car went out and the car stopped on the side road. I was honked at a couple of times while trying to get off the busy street. The tow truck driver put a power pack on the car and shifted it into neutral and was able to move the car. The dealer diagnosed this as an ICCU failure. The part required is on national backorder with no delivery specified.

On 01/19/2025, after charging my vehicle to 100% using a Level 2 Charger, while driving, my vehicle displayed several warning notifications on the driver display, including "12 Volt Battery Low. Stop safely", "Stop vehicle and check power supply" and "Check electric vehicle system", shortly after I heard and felt a loud thump/pop. I returned home and powered the vehicle off. I and was able to drive the vehicle to the local Kia dealer the next day, less than 1 mile away. The vehicle had reduced power and multiple warnings advising to slow or stop the vehicle. On 01/20/2025, Geweke Kia advised the ICCU had failed and thet it was placed on order, with no ETA for the part.

On multiple occasions, while driving on the freeway, the vehicle experienced a clunking noise and complete loss of propulsion. Safety was put at risk as the vehicle had to navigate off to the shoulder of the freeway at a speed significantly slower (due to no acceleration available) than traffic with reduced braking capability. Once on the shoulder the vehicle needs to be turned off then on again then it functions as normal. Due to the intermittency of the issue, the dealer was not able to reproduce the problem, therefore they will not fix it. When the issue occurs, there are no warning messages on the display. The dealer has stated there are no error codes stored in the computer. This issue seemed to go away after an ICCU fix was applied, but came back after the ICCU recall was recently applied. This incident has occurred on the following dates: On...

On April 13, 2024, when I started my vehicle, the instrument cluster immediately flashed the following warning msg surrounded by a flashing red circle: 12V Battery Very Low Stop Safely I turned the vehicle off, waited a few seconds and when I started it again the message did not appear. I contacted KIA USA and received a Recall Inquiry Case #. On April 18th, when I started my vehicle the same 12V Battery Very Low, Stop Safely msg displayed. It did not disappear upon restarting. Within 5 mts ALL the electrics were dead, including the instrument cluster AND the parking/emergency brake control AND the Vehicle Start On/Off button. I am very fortunate I was not driving on the highway when this occurred. Ditto for other drivers. My vehicle had to be towed to my dealer/service center. The tow service jumped the 12V battery and was able to drive it up...

While driving, EV vehicle suddenly lost most of its power. Normal driving on 45 mph street until came to stop light. Would not accelerate over 28 mph upon light changing to green. 12v battery warning light came on.

Was driving to go pick up one of my kids later at night. Was roughly 1/2 mile from home driving about 40 mph when I heard a pop / noise on the rear passenger side. Was unsure if I had rolled over something or what. Shortly after that (few seconds later), the "Check Electrical System" came on. Since I was close to home, I elected to turn around to go home since I could conduct a fairly easy turn around near the sub-division. Before I did that, the car then noted "Limited Power" and came up with the Turtle icon. The speed was restricted to 25 mph. This continued for roughly several hundred feet. At that point, a second warning noting a critical issue came up and the speed was further restricted to 12 mph. I was able to go through the 4-way stop sign, continued to drive under the...

While driving in a major thoroughfare, a red warning came on to check the electrical system, and that propulsion power may be limited. We pulled over to a parking area and consulted the manual. It suggested turning the engine off and back on again - we did so, but the warning remained. We determined that we were 2-4mi from our Kia dealer. Based on the manual information, we believed we would be able to drive at a slow speed and selected a route towards the dealer that avoided the highway. However then the 'turtle' warning light came on and we we were reduced to walking pace. We pulled into a side road, but were unable to pull over completely before we lost all motion. We activated the warning lights, but after a minute or so there was not even sufficient power for those. This was a rainy day with not...

The vehicle throws a "charge interrupted" error on any Level 2 AC chargers and stops charging within few minutes of starting charge. The charging occurs only for 10~15minutes and immediately stops. The issue has been persistent since 3-4 months now and consistent on every charging session. I have to unplug and replug the charger multiple times to be able to complete charging. This also happened to me on a DCFC 150kW charger as well.

Getting check vehicle electrical system warning. Dealer does not read any error Getting multiple charging error faults, dealer does not read an error

To the questions listed: 1) For the last number of months the car will not fully charge when using a Level 2 charger (note: it will charge using a Level 3 charger). When charging I will get a message that "Charge Interrupted". When I go out to the car the charging has in fact stopped, and the charging cable connector is very hot to the touch. 2) In addition to the inconvenience, I worry the car is a fire hazard putting my family at risk. 3) The Kia dealers have not been able to replicate the problem and insist it is a problem with my charger at home. (Note: I have tested my charging unit on my son's Nissan Leaf and it works fine.) Note: they did apply the "Voluntary Service Campaign" however that did not fix the problem. 4) The car has not been inspected by anyone other then...

2022 EV6 First Edition. Vehicle no longer accepts level 2 charging at the 11kWh window stick advertised speed. Providing car with any more than 9kwh and the charging port gets very hot and car will stop charging. Dealer is aware of the issue but as of now is unable to diagnose as none of their dealerships have power supplies that exceed 7kwh.

Inlet charging port overheats causing charging to be interrupted when using 40A or higher EVSE. This is dangerous because the charging port or the wiring harness behind it is overheating because of high electrical power which can cause a fire. Kia has acknowledged this problem by issuing a TSB which reduces the charging rate when the overheating is detected but this does not solve the actual problem with the port or wiring harness.

My system keep failing to charge keeps saying charging failure. Temp is 65 out side no sun and it's night time. I'm using charge point because kia said that was the best for home charging. It has become more and more each time

While driving the vehicle with the main propulsion battery charged to 85%, a battery failure warning light lit at the time the vehicle lost power, slowed down to a stop and lost all lighting. The fault was a failure of the 12 VDC auxiliary power system which resulted in a loss of vehicle speed, dash board buttons to not function, and vehicle controls including lights to be lost. The vehicle was unable to be locked. The vehicle lost power and speed in a remote location causing me to pull off of the road. The vehicle lost all lighting preventing me from warning other drivers of the hazard situation. The car was towed to the nearest Kia Dealership who has confirmed that the 12 VDC power system was de-energized, caused by a dead 12 VDC battery and failed charging module (Kia Part Number 36400-1XFA0) and is currently awaiting replacement under warranted...

On 5 May 2023 our 2022 Kia EV6 WIND AWD Automatic vehicle (~11,200 miles on the odometer) was being driven under normal conditions at approximately 30 mph in city traffic when the car lost motive power and a dashboard alerts appeared stating "stop vehicle and check power supply" and "check electrical vehicle system." The driver complied but the shutdown occurred on a heavily trafficked road and put the driver and other travelers at risk and caused the driver considerable distress. The incident was reported to the dealer and manufacturer via the Kia Access app, and the car was towed to the nearest Kia dealer and service center on May 8. The dealer diagnosed the problem as caused by a defective ICCU (a part of the electrical powertrain control system) requiring replacement. As of 12 July 2023, Kia has not provided a replacement part and it remains on backorder with no...

Heard a loud pop from rear passenger side of vehicle followed by dash warning lights to check charging system, then pull vehicle over immediately. All power to the vehicle was subsequently lost immobilizing the vehicle. Dealer service department said ICCU board needs to be replaced, but is on national backorder. Car has been immobilized since.

After driving my vehicle for a few minutes on my way to work my car lost speed rapidly, going from 40 mph to 25 then seconds later to 22 mph. I tried to accelerate; the car was unresponsive and would not accelerate over 22 mph. Dropping speed rapidly and suddenly during rush hour on a secondary road with a limited shoulder was unnerving as the slow response required waiting for a gap in traffic flow to safely turn around to head home. Upon returning home a message appeared on right side of dash board in an orange circle "check vehicle system" with a small upside down triangle with letters EV also inside this circle and a "small orange battery" picture showed on the left. I called Kia Roadside Assistance and reported the above and was advised it would take about 90 minutes for a tow to dealer as I was...

I was traveling on a neighborhood arterial road, when I heard a load thunk that seemed to come from beneath the rear seat. Moments later, I got a "Check electric vehicle system" warning, followed by "Stop vehicle and check power supply" in the dashboard. After another moment, the power was reduced to a maximum of 25 mph. I turned on the hazard lights because I was no longer able to match the flow of traffic (45 mph). No accident occurred. I was able to limp the car home on slower side streets. At home, I eventually got a "12v battery voltage low" message and the car was unable to move. I had to have the car towed to the dealership. The dealer service folks diagnosed the problem as a failed integrated charging control unit (ICCU). This same problem has been reported by others in the Kia EV forums. Kia Consumer...
