NHTSA Complaint #11556666 — 2022 KIA EV6

While driving in a major thoroughfare, a red warning came on to check the electrical system, and that propulsion power may be limited. We pulled over to a parking area and consulted the manual. It suggested turning the engine off and back on again - we did so, but the warning remained. We determined that we were 2-4mi from our Kia dealer. Based on the manual information, we believed we would be able to drive at a slow speed and selected a route towards the dealer that avoided the highway. However then the 'turtle' warning light came on and we we were reduced to walking pace. We pulled into a side road, but were unable to pull over completely before we lost all motion. We activated the warning lights, but after a minute or so there was not even sufficient power for those. This was a rainy day with not great visibility. We feel lucky and this could have been so much more dangerous. We had to redirect cars around us while we waited for towing. The vehicle was at the dealer for a voluntary service campaign the previous month related to the ICCU. The online version of the EV6 2022 manual has different instructions - it says to refrain from driving and have the vehicle towed. We would have followed those instructions.
