Additionally, the contact stated that the vehicle had experienced electrical failures and was taken to the dealer, where it was discovered that the inverter had caught on fire due to the solar controller failure. The contact was informed that the solar controller had failed and had sent 40 Volts to the electrical system instead of 12 Volts, causing the electrical failures. The dealer determined that the solar controller, the inverter, the converter, the 12-Volts battery, the 12-Volts brain, the 12-Volts command center, and several lights needed to be replaced. The contact stated that the solar system supplier had met with the insurance company and informed the insurance company that the solar system parts on the RV had a factory defect and should no longer be used. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but denied assistance because the vehicle was out of the manufacturer's warranty. The vehicle was being repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 12,000.
