2010 JEEP LIBERTY — Problems, Recalls & Safety Data

2017 their was a recall on the 2010 jeep liberty oil pump and we were not notify at all, [XXX] the engine seized and the oil light came on and then the engine just stopped, It was full of oil and the oil was very clean, the mechanic look at it and said that the oil pump went out I am [XXX] the jeep stop in the middle of the road me my husband could have got kill cars almost hit us we have witnesses that can testify to this, we never receive a letter from your company at all about the recall. I have replaced the TIPM in March of last year. It has gone out on me February 2024. I didn’t expect it to go out before 12 months. Help

The driver saw a flame burst from the door-mounted electrical panel with the door lock and window controls. The contact blew the flames out and then returned to the residence. The contact mentioned that her husband's clothes had a strong smoke odor due to the failure. No warning light was illuminated. A dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. Additionally, the contact stated that before the electrical fire, during brake work on the vehicle, a mechanic had advised that a wire harness on the tow hitch had melted and had warned the contact not to use the tow hitch. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 166,000.

The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was determined that the air bags might fail to deploy in the event of a crash. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 220,000.

The contact’s wife owns a 2010 Jeep Liberty. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, his wife noticed that the air bag warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the air bags needed to be replaced. The dealer was notified of the failure and the contact was informed of the cost to replace the air bags. The contact was informed to call the manufacturer for assistance. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and the contact was informed that he was not the original owner and the manufacturer denied repair. The failure mileage was approximately 152,000.
