TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 JEEP LIBERTY. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO REMOVE THE KEY FROM THE IGNITION WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS STARTED. THE FAILURE OCCURRED FOR SIX MONTHS. AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC STATED THAT THE IGNITION SWITCH NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 191,000. DT: ON SEPTEMBER 19, 2005 SMELLED GAS WHEN THE VEHICLE STALLED, BUT IT DID TURN OVER. THE VEHICLE HAD BEEN SITTING FOR TWO DAYS . CONSUMER GOT BACK INTO VEHICLE AND SMELLED GAS AGAIN, HOWEVER, CONSUMER DROVE THE VEHICLE, AND THEN PARKED IT FOR ABOUT AN HOUR AND THAT WAS WHEN THE AIR PRESSURE COVER BLEW OUT AND THE AIR FILTER WAS HELD DOWN WITH METAL CLAMPS. IT CUT THE INSTALLATION IN THE HOOD OF THE CAR. HAD IT TOWED TO A LOCAL MECHANIC. THEY REPLACED THE AIR FILTER, TWO CRANK SENSOR CAMS, SIX SPARK PLUGS, ONE MAP SENSOR, ONE INJECTOR, AND AIR BOX AND SIX IGNITION COILS. CONSUMER CONTACTED THE MANUFACTURER, AND THEY SAID THAT THE CONSUMER SHOULD HAVE TAKEN THE VEHICLE TAKEN IT TO A LOCAL DEALER, AND THEY WILL NOT REIMBURSE THE CONSUMER. THE SERVICE ENGINE LIGHT WAS ON AND RMPS WERE GOING UP AND DOWN. *AK
