TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 JEEP COMPASS 4X4. WHILE SERVICING HIS WIFE'S VEHICLE, THE CONTACT NOTICED LOTS OF RUST AND HOLES ON THE SUBFRAME. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER AND DEALER WERE NOT CONTACTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 75,000.
I HAVE A 2007 JEEP COMPASS 4WD. THE REAR SUBFRAME ON THE DRIVERSIDE IS ROTTEN OUT AND MAKING THE DRIVER SIDE REAR WHEEL BEND. I HAVE A 4 YEAR THAT GOES IN MY CAR, AND I HAVE LOOKED ONLINE. JEEP WAS MADE AWARE OF THE RUST ROT, AND CHOOSE NOT TO DO ANYTHING
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 JEEP COMPASS 4X4. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE TIRE PRESSURE MONITORING SYSTEM ALERTED HIM TO CHECK THE FRONT DRIVER'S SIDE TIRE. THE CONTACT PLACED AIR IN THE TIRE. WHILE DRIVING FROM THE FUEL STATION AND MAKING A LEFT TURN, THE CROSS MEMBER FRACTURED INTO THE TIRE. THE VEHICLE WAS UNABLE TO BE DRIVEN. THE VEHICLE WAS NEAR A REPAIR FACILITY AND THE MECHANIC DIAGNOSED THAT THE CROSS MEMBER HAD EXTENSIVE RUST TO THE POINT THAT IT FRACTURED INTO THE FRAME. THE VEHICLE WAS THEN TOWED TO A SECOND FACILITY FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. A DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE CONTACT WAS UNCERTAIN IF THE VEHICLE WAS INCLUDED IN MANUFACTURER EXTENDED WARRANTY CAMPAIGN NUMBER: X69 (FRONT AND REAR CROSS MEMBER CORROSION) AND TSB NUMBER: 23012-14. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
THE VEHICLE FAILED INSPECTION LAST WEEK DUE TO X58 FRONT/REAR CROSSMEMBER BEING COMPLETELY RUSTED AND IN DANGEROUS CONDITION. APPARENTLY THIS WAS UNDER WARRANTY BECAUSE THIS HAS BEEN A SERIOUS ISSUE. I WAS NOT AWARE OF THE PROBLEM NOR THE WARRANTY AND NOW I'M STUCK WITH A CAR THAT IS NOT DRIVABLE.
BROUGHT MY VEHICLE IN FOR WHAT I THOUGHT WAS A BAD BALL JOINT ON THE FRONT DRIVER'S SIDE. I WAS TOLD MY SUBFRAME IS COMPLETELY RUSTED OUT IN THAT SPOT. IT'S SO BAD THAT THE MECHANIC ISN'T SURE HE CAN ACTUALLY FIX IT. I FOUND OUT THAT THIS IS SO COMMON THAT CHRYSLER EXTENDED WARRANTIES FOR EVERYONE, BUT DIDN'T OFFER A RECALL. NOT ONLY THAT, BUT THEY ONLY OFFERED THIS FOR A SET TIME OF 120 MONTHS. YOU WOULD THINK THEY WOULD HAVE NOTIFIED PEOPLE OF THIS SO THEY COULD HAVE IT REPAIRED. INSTEAD, THOSE OF US WHO HAPPEN TO HAVE AN INCIDENT AFTER THE TIME FRAME ARE NOW OUT OF LUCK AND OUT OF A LOT OF MONEY TO (HOPEFULLY) REPAIR THE PROBLEM. DISAPPOINTING TO SAY THE VERY LEAST.
I EXPERIENCED A TIRE BLOWOUT ON I-70 WHILE TRAVELING AT 60MPH. FORTUNATELY, NO CARS WERE AROUND AT THE TIME OR IT COULD HAVE KILLED ME OR CAUSED SERIOUS HARM TO MY CAR OR ANOTHER. I HAVE BEEN STRUGGLING WITH TIRE ISSUES FOR SOME TIME, BUT THEY COULD NOT FIGURE OUT WHY. I HAVE HAD A PREVIOUS BLOWOUT AS A RESULT OF THE INSIDE EDGES OF THE TIRES WEARING OUT TOO QUICKLY. AFTER HAVING MY CAR TOWED TO A TIRE SHOP DURING THIS INCIDENT, THEY INFORMED ME THAT THE REAR SUBFRAME IS RUSTED THROUGH AND CAUSING THE TIRES TO WEAR ON THE INSIDE EDGES. THEY STATED THE FRAME WILL NEED TO BE REPAIRED OR REPLACED BEFORE AN ALIGNMENT CAN EVEN BE MADE. THEY RECOMMENDED I GET IT REPAIRED AS SOON AS POSSIBLE SINCE IT IS UNSAFE. . THEY ALSO TOLD ME TO CHECK WITH JEEP ON RECALLS. I HAVE CALLED JEEP...
THIS HAS BEEN A KNOWN PROBLEM A LOT ( WHEN I GOOGLED IT ). THIS IS 100% GOING TO GET SOMEONE HURT OR MULTIPLE HURT !!! THE FRONT CROSS MEMBER AND FRONT SUB FRAME IS TOTALLY RUSTED OUT TO THE THE POINT OF AFFECTING ( STEERING AND STABILITY ) !!! WHAT ARE YOU GUYS WAITING FOR ???????? SOMEONE IS GOING TO GET HURT WITH THIS SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE !!!!!!!!!!!
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 JEEP COMPASS 4X4. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 55 MPH OVER A BUMP IN THE ROAD, THE TRACTION INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE REAR SUBFRAME WAS COMPLETELY RUSTED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE DEALER WAS NOT CALLED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND REFERRED THE CONTACT TO NHTSA. THE FAILURE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 105,000.
I HAVE HAD THIS JEEP FOR LITTLE OVER A YEAR AND HAVE HAD TO REPLACE THE FUEL PUMP, THE DRIVE CHAIN, FRONT CONTROL ARMS AND NOW I AM TOLD THAT THE SUBFRAME IS RUSTED AND APPARENTLY CRACKED AS IT MAKES AWFULLY LOAD NOISES IN THE BACK. I HAVE CONTACTED A JEEP DEALER TO CK ON THE REPLACEMENT OF THE SUBFRAME. I AGREE, DO NOT BUY A JEEP.

THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE BRAKE PADS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. WHILE ON THE LIFT, THE MECHANIC NOTICED HOLES ON THE FRAME AND SEVERE RUST. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 118,000.

THE VEHICLE WAS PULLED OVER AND THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT THE REAR CONTROL ARM AND CROSS MEMBER FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPAIRED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 66,000.

THE VEHICLE WAS UNABLE TO BE DRIVEN. AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC CONFIRMED THAT THE STRUCTURE WAS CORRODED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 80,000.
I'M JUST GOING TO LIST THE PROBLEMS WITH DATES TO MAKE IT EASIER TO GET A VISUAL OF THE PROBLEM! 2009 4X4 INDICATOR LIGHT CAME ON - OIL LEAKING OUT OF SOME 4X4 BOX/BEARINGS MISSING WENT BAD 50,000 MILES CAN'T REMEMBER THE EXACT NAME OF THE PART, BUT COULD CALL THE DEALER AND FIND OUT WHAT IT WAS, 3/7/12 - CV NUT LOCK COVERS NEEDED REPLACED - RUSTED OUT, LEFT OUTER TIE ROD REPLACED, 3/17/13 - BOTH CONTROL ARMS REPLACED, 4/3/13 - RIGHT TIE ROD (INNER AND OUTER) REPLACED, 1/17/14, FRONT ENGINE CRADLE REPLACED, 3/28/14 - RIGHT WHEEL BEARING REPLACED, BOTH CONTROLS ARMS REPLACED AGAIN, AXLE REPLACED, 5/16/14 - NOTIFIED THAT RIGHT TIE ROD NEEDED REPLACED AGAIN. THIS IS BY FAR ONE OF THE MOST POORLY DESIGNED VEHICLES THAT I HAVE OWNED. IT CURRENTLY HAS 80,000 MILES ON IT AND ALL OF THE THINGS REPLACED SHOULD NOT HAVE NEEDED REPLACED...
