THIS JEEP COMPASS WAS PURCHASED FOR OUR COLLEGE AGE DAUGHTER IN MARCH 2019, TODAY WHILE DRIVING, HER REAR DRIVER SIDE WHEEL MADE A LOUD NOISE THEN FELT LIKE IT 'DROPPED' AND UPON GETTING STOPPED, SHE DIDN'T WRECK THANK GOD, AS SHE WAS PULLING INTO OUR DRIVE. UPON INSPECTION IT WAS DISCOVERED THAT HER REAR CROSSMEMBER HAD RUSTED INTO. I SEARCHED AND FOUND THAT THERE HAD AT ONE TIME BEEN A RECALL ON THIS PARTICULAR PART DUE TO EXCESSIVE RUST FROM THE SALT BELT STATES. WE ARE IN KY BUT WHEN WE PURCHASED THE VEHICLE IT WAS TITLED IN MICHIGAN, WHICH IS MOST DEFINITELY IN THAT SALT BELT. I AM NOT SURE WHY THIS RECALL WAS NOT COMPLETED BY THE FORMER OWNER BUT I BELIEVE IT SHOULD BE CORRECTED NO MATTER THE AGE OF THE VEHICLE. THIS COULD HAVE CAUSED MY DAUGHTER TO BE IN A VERY SERIOUS ACCIDENT. WE HAD...
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 JEEP COMPASS 4X4. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE GEAR WAS STUCK IN THE PARK POSITION, WITHOUT ANY WARNING INDICATORS. THE FAILURE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 178,255.
I SEEN THAT THERE HAS BEEN A RECALL ON THE SAME MAKE,MODEL AND YEAR FOR TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS...I JUST PURCHASE THE JEEP FROM A CAR LOT 2/2017 HAD A 30 DAY WARRANTY DURING THAT TIME THEY HAD TO WORK ON 6 TIMES JUST MADE MY SECOND PAYMENT AND I CAN'T ACCELERATE AFTER IT GETS UP TO 40 FIRST RPMS DIDN'T MOVE AT ALL THE FIRST TIME IT HAPPENED NOW RMP AND GOING UP AND WON'T GO DOWN....I FEEL THAT IT'S COULD BE A SAFETY ISSUE CAUSE IF I'M ON THE HIGHWAY AND IT HAPPENS WITH NO WARNING SOMEONE FOLLOWING CLOSE BEHIND ME THAT COULD ENDED BADLY AND AFTER LOOKING INTO THE PROBLEM LOOKS LIKE IT HAPPENS ALOT WITH THIS MODEL....
JEEP COMPASS STALLS AFTER REFUELING IN MOTION ON HIGHWAY, STEERING LOCKS UP WHEN CAR STALLS AND MAKES JEEP UNCONTROLLABLE. HAD JEEP TOWED TO DEALER AND THEY FOUND A BAD CHARCOAL CANISTER WAS "FULL OF FUEL" REPLACED CANISTER DROVE FOR ONE WEEK AND REFUELED MANAGED TO GO 1 MILE AND JEEP STALLED AGAIN AT ABOUT 45 MPH . GOT JEEP STOPPED AND RESTARTED MANAGED TO GET THE LAST 1/2 MILE HOME AND IT STALLED AGAIN PULLING IN DRIVE WAY AND ALMOST RAN THRU THE FRONT OF MY HOUSE BEFORE STOPPING. EXTREMELY UNSAFE CAR RETURNING BACK TO THE DEALER SERVICE DEPT FOR THE 3RD TIME . AFTER READING ONLINE I HAVE FOUND THIS TO BE A COMMON ISSUE ON THE JEEP COMPASS SOME RESULTING IN ACCIDENTS FROM LOSS OF CONTROL. I AM FINDING THE ROLLOVER VALVE IS BAD ALLOWING FUEL TO BE PUSHED BACK THRU THE EVAP SYSTEM CAUSING THE STALL
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 JEEP COMPASS 4X4. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 2 MPH, A CLICKING NOISE EMITTED FROM THE TRANSMISSION OR ENGINE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THIS WAS A RECURRING FAILURE. THE CONTACT DROVE THE VEHICLE TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. AS I WROTE IN PREVIOUS COMMENTS, I HAVE SPENT OVER $11,000 OVER THIS PERIOD OF TIME. I HAVE REPLACED THE WHEEL HUBS, TIE ROD ENDS, THE FRONT SUSPENSION AND ALL RODS CONCERNING THE REAR. I HAVE REPLACED THE TRANSMISSION AT 98,000 MILES COSTING ME $3200. THE TRANSMISSION COULD NOT BE REPAIRED, THE WHOLE TRANSMISSION HAD TO BE REPLACED. AND YES I HAVE 158,000 MILES, BUT IF YOU COMPARE $11,000 JUST ON REPAIRS TO THIS PILE OF CRAP. I HAVE COMPLAINED BEFORE, AND NOTHING HAPPENS. AS I WAS TOLD THERE WERE 14,000 COMPLAINTS JUST WHAT I HAVE COMPLAINED ABOUT AND STILL NO RECALLS. I HAVE ASKED IF THEY COULD JUST LOOK INTO WHY JEEP COMPASS OWNERS ARE GOING THROUGH TIE ROD ENDS, WHEEL HUBS, SUSPENSIONS. *TR
I BOUGHT A 2007 JEEP COMPASS 11 MONTHS AGO FROM LITHE CHEVROLET/DODGE/JEEP. IT HAD 64,000 MILES ON IT. IN THE 11 MONTHS THAT I HAVE HAD THE CAR THE RACK AND PINION AND STEERING PUMP HAVE HAD TO BE REPLACED TWICE. AT MY EXPENSE. THE BALL JOINTS HAVE BEEN REPLACED. MY STRUTS AND BRAND NEW TIRES ARE DESTROYED. THE WHOLE BOTTOM OF THE VEHICLE FEELS LIKE IT IS GOING TO SEPARATE FROM THE FRAME. I STARTED HAVING THESE PROBLEMS WITHIN 1 WEEK OF OWNING THE VEHICLE. THE DEALERSHIP WOULD NOT HONOR THE WARRANTY AND WOULD BLOW IT OFF AS ME BEING "SILLY". THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT HAS BEEN ON 3 TIMES AND RATHER THAN FIXING THE CAR THEY JUST "RESET" THE ENGINE LIGHT. *TR
