After an update for a recall for brake issues, the dealership updated the knock sensor update without my consent. After the knock sensor software was installed, my 2012 Hyundai veloster will not operate without going into protection mode. Hyundai states that they can not reverse the software update to make my vehicle operable again. This has already come up as a safety concern as my wife was on the interstate when the vehicle shut down in 70+ mph traffic.
I stood my [XXX] nephew up in the front passengers side floorboard of the 2012 hyundia voloster manual transmission with push start . I stepped out of the car on the passage side of the car the car was parked in first gear no one was on the driver's side . I bent over to get my shoes on and baby reached over and pushed the start button on the car the car should not have started since the clutch was not pressed in but unfortunately the car started and lunged forward being on a incline it was as if someone smashed on the gas pedal I ran with the car as far as I could but it was going so fast I could not get into the car to stop it I was drug trying to stop the car the car flew thru a fence , into the woods,...
Subject: Issue After ABS Recall Service on My 2012 Hyundai Veloster Dear [Hyundai Customer Service/Dealer Name], I recently took my 2012 Hyundai Veloster to the dealer for the ABS recall service, where they performed an ECM and ECU upgrade as part of the fix. However, immediately after the recall service, my car began experiencing a serious issue. The Check Engine light turned on, and now the car won’t accelerate past 4,000 RPM. This problem did not exist before the recall, and I believe it may be related to the update or service performed. I would appreciate it if you could look into this matter, as the issue started right after the recall work. Please advise on the next steps and whether this can be inspected and fixed at no cost. Thank you for your time and assistance. I look forward to your prompt response. Regard, [XXX] [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT...
My engine is blown. The extended warranty offered by hyundai does not cover the time period or mileage I've had deeming it useless. This is a serious problem and it should be addressed properly. I cannot drive this vehicle. I still owe on my loan. The warranty is not sufficient for the damages accrued regardless if I had signed up in time. This is dangerous, criminal and I'd like reimbursement.
The contact owns a 2012 Hyundai Veloster. The contact stated that while driving at approximately 30 MPH, the vehicle lost motive power. No warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was able to be restarted. The vehicle was taken to AutoZone, where it was diagnosed with transmission failure, glow relay short circuit, and ABS failure. The vehicle was then taken to an independent mechanic, where it was diagnosed that the engine needed to be replaced. The dealer was made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 128,220.
When I make short trips and then turn car off for a few minutes before trying to start it again, sometimes it doesn’t restart. I have to sit there for 5-15 minutes before it will start again. Once, it died at a 4-way stop then started right back up. Today, the motor cut off while I was accelerating at 35 mph right in the middle of the road. After 10 minutes it started right back up. This is my daily driver and I know there’s a campaign for this abs/electrical issue but I need a solution immediately before I’m left up a creek without a paddle. That was so scary that I’m afraid to even get on the interstate to take it to the dealership!
I was driving up to the mountains yesterday and my car began to make a knocking noise, my check engine light began to flash, the car turned off, and we had to basically let the car coast to an exit. Firestone said that my spark plugs 1,2,3 failed and my engine is knocking aggressively (code P1326).
The contact owns a 2012 Hyundai Veloster. The contact stated that the check engine warning light was illuminated. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V651000 (Service Brakes, Hydraulic) however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The local dealer was contacted. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was not made aware of the issue. The contact had not experienced a failure related to the recall. VIN tool confirms parts not available. The failure mileage was approximately 82,000.
My car has 3 recalls included safety recall and manufacturer engine issues recall. The dealer declined to repair my car the reason said its out of warranty, my car has 106k miles, as I know the recalls should be fixed no matter how many miles on the vehicle, or who is the owner of the vehicle, first or second. Now the Hyundai dealer ( key Hyundai dealer in Manchester CT) asked me to pay them $195 plus parking fees $35 a day. I refuse to take my car back until they fix all recalls. And the car sitting there at the dealer since July 29th. I need your help please.
The contact owns a 2012 Hyundai Veloster. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, there was a knocking sound coming from under the hood. The check engine warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an undisclosed dealer where it was diagnosed that the knock sensor detection system (KSDS) needed to be replaced. The contact stated that the vehicle was repaired; however, the contact stated that the failure recurred. The dealer was notified of the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 141,000.
The contact owns a 2012 Hyundai Veloster. The contact stated that after the dealer had completed the knock sensor detection system (KSDS) software update under Hyundai Campaign Number: 966, the check engine warning light illuminated while driving. Additionally, the vehicle failed to exceed 35-40 MPH while depressing the accelerator pedal. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer, where it was determined that the engine needed to be replaced. The dealer contacted the manufacturer; however, the manufacturer denied assistance. The vehicle was not repaired and remained at the dealer. Additionally, the contact became aware that the VIN was included in NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V132000 (Electrical System); however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 150,000. I have issues with past recalls, but they are not showing up in this list. I had a Body Throttle recall and 5 minutes after it was fixed it broke down and then again a week after and a month after altogether until the body throttle had to be replaced. I had the knock sensor recall done and now it went off code P-1326 is showing with a check engine light and it only drives 62mph. I mean the engine is bad and may catch on fire, and need to be replaced. Yes, the dealer knows and is waiting for my car to be put on the engine replacement list, which has been over 4 months now. There is a lawsuit to change it but Hyundai is not doing it.
The contact owns a 2012 Hyundai Veloster. The contact stated that while shifting into gear, the vehicle failed to move. Upon starting the vehicle, the vehicle was fluttering. There were no warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who informed the contact that the repair parts were on backorder. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V132000 (Electrical System) however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The local dealer was contacted. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was not made aware of the issue. The failure mileage was approximately 83,000. Parts distribution disconnect.
I am writing to formally file a complaint against Hyundai USA regarding the engine damage, defect caused by connecting rod bearing failure that I am experiencing with my 2012 Hyundai Veloster. Hyundai is fully aware that countless owners have experience the same issues and have sent letters detailing the problems. I have always choose a Hyundai affiliated dealership to have all my services and repairs done. It has always been more expensive, but I wanted my vehicle to be in good shape and believed that I would receive the best services through them. The problems with my vehicle started in late 2019 or early 2020 when I was driving with my family on the highway. It felt as if the car was about to fall to a sudden stop, and the speed suddenly started decreasing, and eventually the vehicle couldn’t go over 60 miles/ hour and dropping even lower. That...
I got a routine oil change at an old change place and then needed another one 2 1/2 weeks later. The employees at the shop informed me that my vehicle was burning through the oil extremely fast and that the oil dipstick was bare when they checked the oil level. They checked for leaks and found none. The very next day I started hearing a clicking noise coming from the engine and the check engine light was on. I took the vehicle to Autozone in order to run diagnostics on the vehicle to find the problem. The employee there said it was the knock sensor informing us that something is wrong with the engine. I then took the vehicle to a mechanic to see if the problem could be alleviated. The mechanic informed me that there was nothing he could do because of the manufacturing defects of this specific engine....
The contact owns a 2012 Hyundai Veloster. The contact stated he noticed that the check engine warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and a software update was performed and a piston test was performed and no failure was found. The contact stated on another occasion he heard an abnormal sawing sound coming from the vehicle. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was 180,200.
I had a recall done on my car, and driving 10 mins from the shop it lost power. I called the shop they had me pull over and try shutting off the car and starting it back up which didn't work so i was told to drive back if i can make it , it took 25 mins with the throttle going up and down. They had it for about a hour or two and said it was the oil being low 2 qts. But, they put 3qts in, they got it working and 2 weeks later it did the same thing, I called and took it back they said it was the spark plugs and I had to pay for that. I explain to them I had no problems until the recall was done and they say the recall was good. So now we 2 months out and the...
The contact's granddaughter owns a 2012 Hyundai Veloster. The contact stated that while his granddaughter was driving 65 MPH, an abnormal booming sound emitted from the vehicle as the vehicle shutoff without warning. Due to the failure, his granddaughter had the vehicle towed to his home where he discovered that the compression rod bearing had blown threw the engine block. The contact stated that the engine needed to be replaced. The dealer nor the manufacturer had yet to be notified of the failure. The vehicle had yet to be repaired. The failure mileage was unknown.
Engine knocking around 75k miles. Oil changed every 2000 miles. Proper maintenance. Loud knocking noise.
Started with knocking and ticking noise then failure to accelerate. Engine failed due to unknown reasons. Have been confirmed by car mechanic licensed and insured
First Crankshaft position sensor was bad now Camshaft position sensor bad.
CHECK ENGINE LIGHT IS BLINKING. CAR IS LESS THAN ONE YEAR OLD . 108,000 MILES. I PUT 8,000 ON IT. CAR LIGHTS GO OUT AFTER REPLACING , STEERING COLUMN, ELECTRICAL ISSUES , OIL IN SPARK PLUGS , FUEL LINE SEEMS CLOGGED , EMERGENCY BRAKE DOESN'T HOLD EVERY TIME, ECT TAKING TO HYUNDAI IN THE MORNING. DANGEROUS.
HYUNDAI/NHTSA HAS A RECALL FOR 2015-2016 VELOSTER 1.6 ENGINES FOR CONNECTING ROD BEARING FAILURES, AN ISSUE THAT HAS BEEN ONGOING AND KNOWN FOR YEARS. THE RECALL NEEDS TO BE EXTENDED TO 2011-2018 1.6L GDI MOTORS USED IN HYUNDAI AND KIA VEHICLES, WHICH ALL HAVE ISSUES WITH ROD BEARING FAILURES. THE ROD BEARING IS GOING OUT ON MY VELOSTER THAT I RECENTLY PURCHASED AND HYUNDAI WILL NOT HONOR RECALL FOR THE MOTOR IN THE VEHICLE FOR THE SAME ISSUE GOING ON ON ALL MODEL YEARS. I DO HAVE A VIDEO OF THE RUNNING ENGINE WITH THE ROD BEARING NOISE BUT IT EXCEEDS THE FILE LIMIT SIZE. THE LINK IS THE YOUTUBE VIDEO I UPLOADED. HTTPS://WWW.YOUTUBE.COM/WATCH?V=P0MPHRSOGH8&FEATURE=YOUTU.BE&AB_CHANNEL=BRIANBUNDRIDGE
WHILE DRIVING, THE ENGINE MADE CLICKING NOISES AND ALL OF A SUDDEN THE CAR JUST DIED. ALSO, WHEN I TRIED STARTING THE VEHICLE SMOKE CAME OUT OF THE ENGINE. I WAS ADVISED BY A MECHANIC THAT THE ROD BEARINGS NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. CURRENTLY, THERE IS A RECALL IN REGARDS TO THE ROD BEARINGS BUT ONLY FOR 2015 AND 2016.
I HEARD SOMETHING DROP AND THEN THE CAR STARTED SMOKING. I PULLED TO THE SIDE OF THE HIGHWAY, TURNED OFF THE CAR, AND WENT TO OPEN THE HOOD, BUT SAW FLAMES. THE ENTIRE FRONT HALF WAS ENGULFED IN FLAMES. A COUPLE YEARS AGO I HAD TO GET AN ENGINE REPLACEMENT DUE TO OIL OVER CONSUMPTION. THE SAME ISSUES STARTED HAPPENING AGAIN AND THE DEALERSHIP WAS NOT HELPFUL WITH GETTING THE SITUATION FIGURED OUT.
THE ENGINE FAILED DOES NOT START AND THERE IS A LOT OF SMOKE
MY 2012 HYUNDAY VELOSTER KEEPS SHUT OFF ON THE HIGHWAY AND START RIGHT BACK AFTER 2 MINURES IT IS VERY UNSAFE .
I HAD A KNOCKING IN MY ENGINE BEFORE MY CONNECTING ROD BEAR HAD PUNCTURED 3 LARGE HOLES IN MY ENGINE BLOCK. I HAD NO CHECK ENGINE LIGHT AND MY VEHICLE NEVER EVEN HIT 120,000 MILES. A SIMILAR PROBLEM HAD BEEN REPORTED ON HYUNDAI VEHICLES THAT ARE BEING RECALLED.
OIL LEAK FROM FAULTY REAR MAIN SEAL
I WAS LOSING OIL WITHOUT AN OBVIOUS OIL LEAK. THE PSI IN THE 3RD CYLINDER WAS 90 AND WHEN SPARK PLUGS WERE REPLACED THE NEW ONES WERE COVERED IN OIL. I WAS TOLD I NEEDED A NEW ENGINE. I CONTACTED HYUNDAI AND THEY TOLD ME TO TAKE IT TO A CERTIFIED HYUNDAI MECHANIC AND HAVE THEM DIAGNOSE IT AND SUBMIT A REPAIR ASSISTANCE REQUEST AS I WAS THE SECOND OWNER AND THE CAR IS 8 YEARS OLD WITH 80,000 MILES. IT COST $700 FOR THE DIAGNOSTIC AND I WAS TOLD I NEEDED A NEW ENGINE. HYUNDAI DENIED THE REPAIR ASSISTANCE REQUEST AND I HAD TO PAY $700 FOR THE DIAGNOSTIC. NEITHER THE REPAIR SHOP OR HYUNDAI THOUGHT TO TELL ME THAT I SHOULD DO AN OIL CONSUMPTION TEST BECAUSE DOING SO WOULD HAVE LIKELY MADE HYUNDAI RESPONSIBLE LIKE MANY OF THE OTHER ENGINE RECALLS THEY ARE DEALING WITH. I HAVE...
VEHICLE ENGINE MAKING KNOCKING SOUND WHILE IDLE AND WHILE IN GEAR. CHECK ENGINE LIGHT NEVER CAME ON. LOW OIL LIGHT NEVER CAME ON. OIL WAS LOW, SHOULDN'T HAVE BEEN DUE TO JUST HAVING OIL CHANGE, BUT NO LEAK UNDER CAR.
ON FRIDAY, 1/31/19, MY SON AS DRIVING HOME FROM WORK AND HIS CHECK ENGINE LIGHT AND OIL INDICATOR LIGHT WENT ON. HE TOOK THE CAR (MY12 HYUNDAI VELOSTER) TO PEP BOYS FOR SERVICE THE FOLLOWING MORNING, SAT. 2/1/20, AND DESCRIBED WHAT HAPPENED. THEY INSPECTED THE CAR AND ADVISED THE OIL SEEMED TO BE BURNING FASTER THAN NORMAL, BUT DID AN OIL CHANGE. THEY ADVISED IF THE WARNING LIGHTS CAME ON AGAIN, TO TAKE IT TO HYUNDAI. THEY ALSO ADVISED WE WOULD NEED TO BRING THE CAR IN FOR OIL CHANGES APPROX. EVERY 3K MILES, RATHER THAN 5-7K MILES. NO CONCERN WAS COMMUNICATED TO KEEP DRIVING THE CAR. THE NEXT DAY, SUNDAY, 2/2/20, HE WAS ENTERING THE 605 FWY (SOUTH) AT FIRESTONE BLVD IN NORWALK, CA AND HE HEARD A RATTLING IN THE ENGINE, THEN SAW BLACK SMOKE COMING FROM THE ENGINE. HE PULLED THE CAR OVER ON THE SHOULDER, THEN...
ENGINE IS MAKING A VERY LOUD KNOCKING NOISE THE CAR HAS ALREADY BROKEN DOWN ON THE INTERSTATE AND HAD TO HAVE IT TOWED HOME WHEN I GOT TO THE REPAIR FACILITY THEY HAD TO CHANGE THE SPARK PLUGS THE KNOCKING NOISE IS EVEN LOUDER NOW
ON SATURDAY 2-28-2015, I WAS DRIVING ON A MAJOR INTERSTATE HIGHWAY WHEN ALL OF A SUDDEN MY CAR STOPPED RESPONDING. I ATTEMPTED TO ACCELERATE, BUT THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT RESPOND. THANKFULLY, I WAS IN A CONSTRUCTION ZONE SO THE SURROUNDING CARS WERE ALREADY ALERT AND SLOWING DOWN. HOWEVER, I WAS RAPIDLY LOSING SPEED AND COULD NOT KEEP UP OR ACCELERATE. I DRIFTED THE CAR INTO THE EMERGENCY LANE, WHERE THEN THE CAR DIED. I CALLED ROAD SIDE ASSISTANCE BUT WAS NOT ABLE TO GET THROUGH. A POLICE OFFICER ARRIVED. HE COULD NOT GET THE CAR TO START EITHER. WE HAD MY CAR TOWED SINCE I WAS INTERFERING WITH A MAJOR HIGHWAY'S TRAFFIC FLOW. THE HYUNDAI DEALERSHIP I WAS TOWED TO WAS JUST BEGINNING TO CLOSE. THEY SAID THEY COULD START THE PAPERWORK AND STORE MY CAR THERE, BUT THEY WOULD NOT BE ABLE TO WORK ON IT UNTIL MONDAY. COME...
BURNS OIL AND MAKES NOISY WHEN HIT THE GAS PEDAL ALSO IT PUSHES IT SELF WHEN STOPING.
THE CAR STARTED TO RATTLE AND STARTED TO NOT BE ABLE TO ACCELERATE. I PULLED THE CAR TO THE SIDE OF A SEMI BUSY ROAD AND LET IT SIT FOR A MOMENT WHILE TURNED OFF AND THEN AFTER 30 SECONDS TURNED THE CAR BACK ON. I STARTED TO DRIVE THE CAR AND TURNED DOWN A RESIDENTIAL ROAD (ROTHROCK CIRCLE COPLEY, OH) AND THAT IS WHEN THINGS GOT REALLY BAD.THE CAR WAS IN MOTION AND STARTED TO ACT EVEN STRANGER. IT HAD ISSUES ACCELERATING AGAIN AND THEN WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD THE LUNGED FORWARD AND THEN WHITE SMOKE AND FLAMES CAME FROM UNDER THE CARS FRONT END. I JUMPED OUT OF THE CAR AFTER TURNING IT OFF, GRABBED MY PERSONAL ITEMS AND RAN OFF INCASE OF AN EXPLOSION. I CALLED 911INSTANTLY AND WHILE ON THE PHONE WITH COPLEY POLICE MY CAR WAS ENGULFED IN FLAMES. FIREFIGHTERS CAME OUT AND STARTED...
I WAS DRIVING HOME THEN STARTED HEARING A KNOCKING NOISE COMING FROM THE ENGINE. THAT'S WHEN I FELT MY CAR TO LOSE POWER AND START TO DECELERATE. ONCE IT STOPPED IT SHUT OFF , AND ALL OF MY LIGHT ON MY DASH BOARD WAS ON. THE BATTERY LIGHT, OIL LIGHT, EPS LIGHT. I WENT TO OPEN THE HOOD AND IT SMELT LIKE SOMETHING WAS BURNING. AFTER ABOUT AN HOUR OF WAITING THE ENGINE STILL WASN'T TURNING OVER. I LEFT MY CAR ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AT AN APARTMENT COMPLEX.
MY CAR HAS CODE OF P0420 CATALYST SYSTEM EFFICIENCY BELOW THRESHOLD. THE MECHANIC I HAVE HAD LOOK INTO THE CAUSE HAS SUGGESTED REPLACING THE EXHAUST MANIFOLD CATALYTIC CONVERTER ASSEMBLY DUE TO CATALYTIC CONVERTER FAILURE. IT'S A 2012 HYUNDAI VELOSTER 1.6 LITER NON-TURBO, THE SAME ENGINE THAT IS INCLUDED IN ONE OF THE LARGEST RECALLS ON YOUR SITE. MY VEHICLE THOUGH IS NOT INCLUDED AND I FEEL IT PROBABLY SHOULD BE DUE TO HAVING CATALYTIC CONVERTER FAILURE, LIKELY DUE TO DESIGN FLAW IF OTHERS ARE HAVING SIMILAR FAILURES.
COMPLETE CAR FIRE. I WAS DRIVING ON THE FREE WAY GOING BETWEEN 70 AND 75MPH AND I WENT TO CHANGE LANES AND WHEN I LOOKED BACK IN THE REARVIEW MIRROR ALL I SEE IS SMOKE SO I PULL OFF THE FREEWAY ONTO THE SHOULDER AND I SEE A FLAME FROM UNDER THE HOOD. SO I POP THE HOOD LATCH AND I OPEN IT AND THERE WAS A FIRE COMING FROM THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT. SO I SHUT THE HOOD AND GO AND GRAB NECESSITIES OUT FROM THE VEHICLE AND WAIT FOR THE FIRE DEPARTMENT TO SHOW UP AND PUT OUT THE CAR. WELL WHEN THEY SHOWED UP, THEY WERE NOT ABLE TO SALVAGE ANY USABLE PART OF THE VEHICLE. AGAIN I WAS ON THE FREEWAY/HIGHWAY TRAVELING BETWEEN 70MPH AND 75 MPH
WHILE PARKED, CAR STARTS HARD THEN WILL NOT SHIFT, DESPITE THE DASH SAYING IT'S IN DRIVE. HAVE TO SHUT OFF, WAIT, THEN RESTART. AT STOP SIGNS, CAR WILL STALL THEN NOT RESTART. ONCE RESTARTED, CAR WILL NOT SHIFT. NEED TO SHUT OFF THEN RESTART REPEATEDLY UNTIL IT SHIFTS. WHILE IN MOTION GOING STRAIGHT ON THE HIGHWAY, CAR WILL ACT AS IF IT'S LOST ENGINE POWER AND THEN STALL COMPLETELY. AGAIN, CAR WILL NOT START, AND ONCE IT STARTS IT WILL NOT SHIFT. AGAIN REPEAT THE TURN ON/OFF PROCESS UNTIL IT SHIFTS. HAS HAPPENED MORE AND MORE FREQUENTLY BUT DEALER CANNOT GIVE ME AN ANSWER. THIS CAR IS VERY UNSAFE TO ME AND OTHERS ON THE ROAD WITH IT'S UNPREDICTABILITY.
MY CAR IS HAVING ISSUES DESCRIBING WHAT IS HAPPENING IN THE RECALL, THE ENGINE IS LOUDER THAN WHEN I GO OUT IT SOUNDS LIKE YOU'RE KNOCKING NOISE AND I JUST GOT IT IN SEPTEMBER. I NEED TO SPEAK WITH SOMEBODY ABOUT THIS SINCE IT'S NOT LISTED ON THE RECALL
I'VE ALWAYS HAD MY VEHICLE WELL MAINTAINED AND CAN GET RECORDS OR OIL CHANGES/REGULAR VEHICLE MAINTENANCE. I HAD MY OIL CHANGED AT A DEALERSHIP AND COUPLE OF WEEKS LATER THE OIL LIGHT WAS BACK AND THE ENGINE LIGHT WAS ON WITH ALMOST 2,000 MILES LEFT UNTIL MY NEXT OIL CHANGE AND WHEN THEY CHECKED THEY SAID THERE WERE NO OIL LEAKS AND THE FLUIDS WERE TOPPED OFF. THEY SAID THE ENGINE LIGHT HAD SOMETHING TO DO WITH MY EMMISIONS. 2 WEEKS LATER I'M DRIVING AND MY ENGINE STARTS KNOCKING SO I PULL OVER IMMEDIATELY AND OPEN MY HOOD AND CHECK MY OIL AND IT'S GONE. I PUT 3 QUARTS IN AND DROVE IT HOME WHERE I PARKED IT UNTIL JANUARY 16TH WHEN I HAD IT TAKEN TO HYUNDAI TO BE DIAGNOSED AND THEY TOLD ME I HAD RECALLS AND THAT I NEEDED A NEW GASKET SEAL AND OIL CHANGE. WHEN...
MY DAUGHTERS CAR WHICH WE BOUGHT 2 YEARS AGO, WITH ABOUT 41.000 MILES ON IT . THIS PROBLEM HAS BEEN GOING ON FOR THE LAST 9 MONTHS . IT STARTS AND RUNS . BUT WHEN YOU PUT IT IN GEAR WILL RUN WHILE TAKING OFF. THEN ALL OF SUDDEN CHUGG OR DIES OR NO POWER,STARTS RIGHT BACK UP AND DOES IT AGAIN . IT WILL DO THIS EVENING SLOWING DOWN OR AT A LIGHT TO STOP .IT DOES THIS SEVERAL TIMES AND WILL RUN ROUGH .THEN COMES OUT OF IT AND RUNS OK OR TAKES 10 MINS TO START .THEN WHEN YOU START IT YOU HAVE TO HOLD ACCELERATOR TO THE FLOOR. NO CODES GOES INTO LIMP MODE .JUST SPENT $1000.OO FOR ENGINE MECHANICAL FUEL PUMP 3 MONTHS AGO .NO CODES .DEALERSHIP CAN'T FIND ANYTHING WRONG, AFTER DRIVING IT 3 TIMES . THEN AS SOON AS WE LEAVE THE DEALERSHIP...
WHILE IN MOTION ON A CITY STREET, THE CAR SUDDENLY MADE A LOUD NOICE, SMOKE CAME OUT OF THE ENGINE AND ALL THE TROUBLE LIGHTS CAME ON. THE CAR STOPPED AND OIL WAS EVERYWHERE. THERE WAS NO WARNING. THE ENGINE SEIZED AND IS NOW WORTHLESS. IT ONLY HAD 97,000 MILES ON IT. THE CAR HAD TO BE TOWED AND NEEDS A NEW ENGINE. OVER 1.2 MILLION KIA AND HYUNDAI MODELS WERE RECALLED BECAUSE OF THIS HAPPENING WITH LOW MILEAGE BUT VELOSTER WAS NOT INCLUDED. IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN!! HYUNDAI REFUSES TO TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR IT.
CAR HAS BEGAN DOING THIS OFTEN NOW. AT 115K MILES. START THE CAR, PUT IT IN DRIVE, CAR WON'T MOVE. PUT IT IN REVERSE. SAME ISSUE. HAVE TO TURN THE CAR OFF AND ON AND REPEAT UNTIL IT MOVES. OCCASIONALLY I'LL STOP AT A STOP SIGN AND GO TO MOVE AFTER STOPPING AND AGAIN, IT WON'T MOVE. ENGINE JUST REVS. HAVE TO REPEAT ABOVE UNTIL IT MOVES. REPLACED CAMSHAFT SENSOR AND KNOCK SENSOR. DIDN'T FIX IT. NOW THE CAR DIES WHILE IN PARK AND STALLS BETWEEN 15-2000 RPM. THERE ARE SEVERAL FORUMS WITH THE SAME ISSUES AND NO ONE HAS A SOLID ANSWER. AND NO RECALL. INSANE. TAKING IT TO HYUNDAI AND CONSIDERING A LAWSUIT WITH MY EVIDENCE AND ALL THE OTHER FORUMS AND COMPLAINTS.
WHILE DRIVING MY CAR ON THE HIGHWAY, I SUDDENLY BEGAN TO HEAR A LOUD KNOCKING SOUND COMING FROM UNDER THE HOOD. MY CAR BEGAN TO LOSE POWER AND I WAS UNABLE TO ACCELERATE. DURING MY ATTEMPTS TO GET MY CAR TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD THE CAR THEN BEGAN TO SHACK SECONDS LATER FOLLOWED BY AN EXPLOSION THAT FILLED THE CAR WITH SMOKE AS IT CAME TO A COMPLETE STOP IN THE MIDDLE OF THE HIGHWAY. THANK GOD PASSER BYS STOPPED TO HELP GET THE CAR TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD BEFORE ANYONE WAS INJURED.
I HAVE OWNED CAR FOR 8 MONTHS (PURCHASED USED FROM DEALERSHIP) ENGINE KNOCKING. ENGINE SEIZED UP YESTERDAY. NO ENGINE WARNING LIGHT. ENGINE IS COMPLETELY DONE. WAS DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD YESTERDAY HEARD LOUD KNOCKING AND CAR DIED. HAD TO HAVE TOWED.
I PURCHASED THIS CAR 3/2012 DEC 2013 MY CAR HAD TO BE TAKEN IN FOR THE REAR BRAKE CALIPERS , SUNROOF AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WAS ON, TOOK IT IN TO KENDALL HYUNDAI, CAR WAS OK BUT HAD LOW POWER. FEB 2016 CAR HAD TO GO BACK IN MY TRUNK LOCK WOULD NOT RELEASE. OCT 2016, ENGINE HAD A LOUD KNOCKING SOUND AFTER OIL CHANGE & SERVICE AT THE SAME DEALERSHIP, I HAD TO HAVE AN ENGINE CHANGE, CHECK ENGINE LIGHT NEVER GOES OFF. AS RECENT AS MAY 26, 2017 MY CAR FAILED , OIL LIGHT FLICKERING, CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ON. I RECEIVED THE CAR BACK ON JUN 22, 2017 AFTER ANOTHER ENGINE CHANGE. THE CAR'S CHECK ENGINE LIGHT IS STILL ON CALLED THE DEALERSHIP BACK AND WILL TAKE THE CAR . THE DEALERSHIP HAS SCHEDULED THIS TUESDAY & THAT THEY WILL KEEP THE CAR AGAIN FOR ANOTHER COUPLE...
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 HYUNDAI VELOSTER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE HEADLIGHT BULBS BURNED OUT OFTEN. ALSO, WHILE IDLING AT A STOP, THE VEHICLE JERKED, LOST POWER, AND SHUT OFF WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS ABLE TO BE RESTARTED. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED AUTOMATICALLY IN INTERVALS AND THE ENGINE MADE A KNOCKING SOUND. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE VEHICLE OPERATED AS DESIGNED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURES AND REFERRED THE CONTACT TO THE DEALER. THE FAILURES WERE NOT REMEDIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 50,000.
WHEN STOPPED, CAR STALLS OCCASIONALLY.. STARTS RIGHT UP AGAIN, BUT THEN AS I WAS DRIVING CAR ENGINE WOULD OCCASIONALLY FEEL AS IF IT'S GOING TO STALL & THEN SURGE UP TO POWER. *TR
