This is the 2nd time I have had a sensor indicator. The first was a knock sensor where my car barely made it across the road. Now another code for intake issues. If my car dies and I get hit Hyundai is liable. I know many people that have issues with their Hyundai dying and are without their cars waiting for repairs for. months and months, but the fact that I have a grandson and my car could die is incomprehensible. These cars need to be pulled off the market.

I was driving home from a family get together with my husband and daughter in my car. We smelled something burning, and suddenly smoke was coming out of my center console. I pulled over and flames were coming out of the driver side. As soon as we evacuated the vehicle, it burst into flames. There was no warning, nothing lit up on the dashboard to warn me of this hazard. A witness was driving behind us and called 911 when he noticed flames underneath my vehicle right before I pulled over. A police report was filed and it was reported to my insurance agent, it is currently still under investigation since it just happened 2 days ago during a Holiday weekend. My safety and my family's safety was put at risk due to no warning, how fast the vehicle went up in flames, etc. The car was a total loss.

Engine failure from spun rod bearings, confirmed by a Hyundai dealership. The 1.6 motor in this vehicle has the same excessive oil consumption issue just like the 2.0 and 2.4 motors, but is not covered under any recall or class action law suit. That oil consumption i believe contributed to engine failure. There were no warning lights or anything until the damage occured.

The engine has failed in my 2018 Hyundai Tuscon. I was driving the car daily since purchasing in July of 2023. Everything was fine until the first week of October, I had just picked up my son and was getting on the interstate when my check engine light came on and my oil light would flash on and off occasionally not persistently. I had the car checked immediately and there was no oil in the car at all. I added oil to the car, but it was too late the engine had already blown. I drove my son to school the next morning and the car sounded like a lawn mower and was knocking continuously. The dealership has the car now and this is a known problem with this model car. The car could've locked up while I was on the interstate with my child and we or others could...

As I was pulling out of a bank driveway onto a busy access road my car just died. Lost all power. NO warning bells, no lights on the dash, no warning at all. This could have potentially caused an accident. I could have been hit by another vehicle as my car was dead. Pushed it out of the way of traffic, checked oil and there was none. Ended up having it towed to the dealership. The dealership told me that my engine had failed and would need to be replaced due to cylinder 3 rod bearing failure due to oil consumption (a known problem from this manufacturer).

The car was making an engine noise and stopped working. My car oil was on level and the oil wasn’t need any change , then was confirmed that the car engine is blown

When I accelerate from a stop sign or yield it Jerks and hesitates to accelerate. I have to release the gas and push again sometimes doing this multiple times when this happens daily. I've taken it to Hyundi shops and they say it's a normal chararistic if a Tuscan. It also uses an excessive amount of oil. I am told this is because of the engine. If I go change my oil right at every 3k miles my oil level is well below the minimum line so I have been changing it every 1500 miles.

While driving on the highway going up a 6% grade incline, the car stopped accelerating and car engine stalled out. There were no previous warning signs or indications of engine problems prior to this incident. There was no light that alarmed any defect to the car. The car had always driven smoothly. I maintained proper maintenance and regular oil changes. The car only had 65,000 miles on it. The safety of my passengers were at risk due to stalling out on the highway, luckily there was no harm to myself or others on the road. The dealership confirmed that the engine will need to be replaced. The engine has not been inspected by the manufacture. Unfortunately, due to a rebuilt title was declined warranty coverage. The title was rebuilt due to hail damage, no crash or flood damage.

I am the second owner of this vehicle. Ever since my car had around 60,000 miles on it, at which time I still had extended warranty purchased, I've been having issues with the oil consumption. I started the oil consumption tests, after the first part of the test it was proven that my car was consuming too much oil. During the 2nd part of the oil consumption testing, the dealer ship did an engine combustion cleaning, which supposedly helped with the consumption of the oil. I was back to having the same issue with the engine consuming my oil only 4 months later. So now I am currently doing my second oil consumption testing. At both tests, I was assured that if my engine fail these tests, I will be getting a new engine for my car at no expense to me, and that Hyundai would cover all the costs....

The engine, rod bearing failure, constantly ABS Kits, Engine monitoring system (car is available for inspection). Our safety and others put at risk because the auto stopped dead on Interstate during rush hour traffic barely escaped death and seriously injuries to all travelers close to us. Towed it to a dealer for diagnostic testing who confirmed it's the engine and rod bearing system on report of inspection and estimate invoice. Manufacture told us to take it to a dealership and we took it to Wallace Hyundai of Stuart Florida. The warning was a knocking sound and oil light flickering just before auto began to sliw down to final stop. All took place on August 8, 2023. I have 7 photos to upload but your site is not allowing more than 10 documents. I tried to delete some documents but it did not have a delete function once I uploaded the...

The contact owns a 2018 Hyundai Tucson. The contact stated while driving 35-40 MPH, the check engine warning light illuminated, and the engine made an abnormal rattling sound. Additionally, the vehicle lost motive power. The contact was able to pull to the side of the roadway. The vehicle was towed to the dealer, where it was diagnosed and determined that there was a piston failure in a cylinder which caused the engine to seize. The contact was informed that the engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and offered to cover 60% of the cost for the repair. The failure mileage was approximately 131,000.

My vehicle is burning 2 1/2 quarts of oil a month , my catalytic converter is clogged due to this, Hyundai is fighting me and will not take responsibility for either. With some research I’ve found they they do know about the issue in thousands of their vehicles and they are refusing to help anyone. I was driving up the road and my speed declined to 8mph & would not go any faster

This very low mileage vehicle recently had the same incident for I believe the fifth time since I've owned the car. In a very dangerous situation the car exibited the car going almost dead after normal acceleration. It regains power after 3-5 seconds and rapidly returning to acceleration. It happened to my wife soon after purchase and she has refused to drive it since. Last week while I attempted to make a left turn at a yellow light it again went dead and traffic was forced to slow while the car behind me almost rea ended me. Recently the engine seems to run rough at times. Never have I seen any engine trouble lights since I've owned it. Three separate Hyundai dealers have looked at and seemed to be aware of what's causing it, but chose their words carefully. My neighbor owns one of the largest new cars dealerships in...

In May 2023 while on family vacation my tucson oil light came on and went what I believe in limp mode. Oil has always been changed on time, checking oil, was full and clean. Had to tow back from TN to PA. Called hyundai and they stated that the engine has a known problem and a campaign is on them. I then had it towed to a hyundai dealership for a June 9th 2023 appointment. The dealership didn't even know why they let me make it. They had 9 tucsons with same problem in front of me. Now Aug 6th 2023 still waiting at dealership to be even looked at. Unreal

At about 60k miles I noticed the check engine light would come on and so I checked the oil only to see it completely empty. I get regular oil changes and have documentation. I took into Hyundai to get recalls fixed and mentioned the excessive oil consumption to them and the service manager stated that it was not enough oil consumption and I would have to pay to diagnose further. Well I have contacted Hyundai corporate and they denied looking any further at my vehicle. So I have been goin to my oil change place about every 2-3 weeks and I have records that after about 1,000 miles I am having to put two quarts of oil in. Current mileage now is 100k and the value of my car is like $5-8 dollars. I owe 23k on this vehicle! I was also not told it was in a n accident...

Vehicle purchased Jan 2023. Vehicle began making suspect noises in June 2023 and was taken to Ford dealership where the car and extended warranty were purchased in January. We were told that the noise was believed to be due to low oil. Oil was changed as part of maintenance covered under the extended warranty. About 5000 miles had been driven since last known oil change that was done prior to our purchase of the car in January. On Jul 19, 2023, vehicle began to make loud noises again and had difficulty accelerating. The same day, engine stopped while exiting highway. Car was found to have little to no oil in it even though it had been serviced 6 weeks prior and had only been driven ~3000 miles. Engine was knocking badly but did not seem to be overheating. Three quarts of oil were added, but the car cut off when...

On Sunday July 16 while driving home from Cape Cod to my home in Walpole, my engine stopped working while on the highway in Plymouth, ma. I promptly turned on my hazards and had to get over to the travel lane as I was in the passing lane when this occurs. The oil light was flashing as was the engine light and I had to coast to a gas station. Thankfully the exit was a downhill one

On April 30th my cars check engine lite came on while driving on I84 with multiple people in the car, the car slowly started to lose momentum and could no longer accelerate. The next available appointment at the local dealership (MotorWorld, Wilkes-Barre PA) was on May 22nd. It was then confirmed that my knock sensor detection was faulty. It was recently recalled or something along those lines. It was then fixed on May 22nd then returned to me. On May 23rd less than 24hrs later my car was being towed back to the dealership as the check engine light had come back on, code P1326, after having fuel injectors 2 and 3 replaced and the engine cleaned, Hyundai tech line declared my engine needed to be replaced. However, Hyundai is refusing to replace the engine even though it is code P1326 (knock sensor detection) that has called my engine to...

The contact owns a 2018 Hyundai Tucson. The contact stated while driving 75 MPH, the vehicle shut off with the check engine, oil, and additional unknown warning lights illuminated. The contact called his brother for a jumpstart, but the vehicle failed to restart. The vehicle was towed to a friend's residence where his brother inspected the vehicle and discovered a hole in the engine block. The vehicle was then towed to the contact's residence. The dealer and the manufacturer were notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 123,400.

i was driving on the freeway on Nov 22, 2022 when without warning my car went into limp mode. the engine warning light flashed. this puts the driver (and any passengers) at great risk, as the engine is severely limited in its power output. the car will move, but very slowly and acceleration is weak to non-existent. at highway speeds, this situation could have also impacted anyone behind me who came upon my limp vehicle and could not react in time to my slow speed. it has 60,250 miles on it. i drove home, had an initial diagnosis at a local auto repair shop as follows, "removed the (spark) plug and it is badly damaged with oil in cylinder indicating an internal engine problem". i had the car towed on Dec 7, 2022 to the dealer where i purchased the vehicle. the dealer could not look at the vehicle until...

These people have sold me a car that is burning oil and they refuse to honor their settlement made by a class action lawsuit against them to replace the motors that are in fact burning oil. At first they told me that they would seal the oil and for me to drive 1000 miles and return to them so that they can determine if the car was leaking or burning oil. Upon return they did in fact say that it was not leaking and that it was burning oil but it was "not burning as much oil as it should in order to replace the engine". In what world should a car burn oil? This car is too dangerous to drive, the other day the engine shut down as I was driving it on I75 which put my life in danger due to its lack of oil. I have reached...

I have only owned the car for 1 month. I had gotten an oil/filter change and a new oil pressure sensor at ~80,100 miles. I had requested the oil sensor be changed because it would flicker on and off when the car was idling/low RPMs once it had heated up fully. This had fixed that issue seemingly. At ~80,700 miles the car had started riding a bit "rough", especially at higher speeds, so I decided to have a look under the hood. I was terrified to see that my dipstick was bone dry. There was never any evidence of any noticeable leak underneath the car on the driveway nor any evidence of blue smoke coming out of the exhaust. After some research (Hyundai corporate was telling me over the phone multiple times that there was no known issues with my specific car/engine) I was appalled to see I was essentially...

In the last 3 months I have had my vehicle go into Limp Mode due to a faulty engine. All 3 times while I was on the highway and I was almost seriously injured due to traffic. Ever since I got the Knock Sensor update, I have had nothing but problems. I have had a new catalytic convertor, new spark plugs, oil change, air filter and fuel injector replaced in Dec 2022. The spark plugs are dripping in oil only after 8,000 miles. All of those parts have now failed and I am burning oil at an increased rate. I have contacted Hyundai multiple times and have had case files opened and I have not got any resolution or help. I have spent close to $6,000 on repairs and rental cars and there has still not been any resolution. My engine needs to be replaced due to the recall but...

EXCESSIVE OIL CONSUMPTION! Vehicle has less than 60k and I have to check and put oil in about every 1,000 miles. Engine light comes on and this is how I know to check the oil. This is ridiculous and should not be happening. I change my oil as directed at every 5,000 miles and at least 2-3 times before next oil change I am adding more oil. WHY AM I BURNING SO MUCH OIL? No oil is leaking that I can see...

Three months after I bought my 2018 Hyundai Tucson it started having engine problems. It has went into limp mode multiple times and has been to the shop several times to have it fixed. The knock sensor has been replaced twice by two different Hyundai dealerships. The engine is losing oil rapidly and has to be replaced every few weeks. It has been advised by both Hyundai dealerships that a new engine is required at this point but Hyundai corporation themselves won’t allow the engine repair. This type of car and engine are known for engine replacements around this exact type of engine and amount of mileage on the vehicle. My safety and my sons safety is in jeopardy every time we get in this vehicle as it can go back into limp mode at any given time and if we are driving and it just stalls we are liable...

Acceleration issue, from a stop position on a red light or stop sign, when the gas pedal is pressed the engine revs but does not move immediately, after a couple of seconds it lundges forward, also when trying to merge you must wait for a very big gap to safely merge, the car does not respond and this is very dangerous, Hyundai need to rectify this issue before someone dies.
#11513631 |
When accelerating, my car seems to hesitate. This happens regularly. The other day, making a left turn in an intersection with on-coming traffic, the engine hesitated to the point that the vehicle stopped moving forward. This was a concern since I did make a timely turn, but hadn't planned on my vehicle almost stopping in the middle of an intersection. My check engine light has not turned on, and the vehicle has less than 30,000 miles on it. I am concerned to the point that I will be taking it to a dealer to check it out.

The contact owns a 2018 Hyundai Tucson. The contact stated that on various occasions while driving at an undisclosed speed, the check engine warning light illuminated. The contact stated that after taking the vehicle to an independent mechanic for a routine oil change, she was made aware of an oil leak; however, the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The contact stated that the vehicle was stalling while depressing the accelerator pedal while driving at various speeds, and while driving uphill. The vehicle was taken to another independent mechanic, where it was diagnosed that there was a misfire in cylinder #1 and that the engine needed to be replaced. The contact was advised to take the vehicle to a local dealer for repair. The contact stated that after she made a local dealer aware of the failure, she was informed that the engine was discontinued and advised to contact the...

My wife was driving home. She had taken the highway home when she had suddenly lost power with no warning or indication from the cars dashboard there was no warning lamps or messages explaining why the car lost power and that the car would not turn back on. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic where it was determined that the engine was seized up and that the motor needed to be replaced and that the car had no oil in the engine. Which is not possible since the cars Maintenace intervals were maintained. It was also later determined that the oil pan bolt was under tighten due to bad threading on the oil pan and bad oil pan seals. The car will be towed to a dealership for further inspection. This issue presents a possible fire hazard or risk of accident while at high speeds. My wife did...

The contact owns a 2018 Hyundai Tuscan. The contact stated that while her daughter was operating the vehicle, the check engine warning light illuminated, and the vehicle inadvertently decelerated to 30 MPH. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer and the contact was informed that the failure was due to a faulty sensor, which had malfunctioned when the oil change was due. The contact stated that the failure had occurred on several occasions when the oil change was due. The vehicle was not yet repaired. The manufacturer was not yet notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 30,000. The VIN was not available.

The oil plug fell out of my Tuscon while I driving on the highway and it burned out my entire engine on January 2, 2023, at approximately 5:40 pm EST. The tech at the dealership found the plug in the tray under the spot where the plug goes. It was inspected by a technician at a Hyundai dealership. The car is a 2018 Tuscon--had less than 55,000 miles on it and is now basically worthless and undrivable, quoted $13,000 to fix it. My entire engine now needs to be replaced. I was within the lifespan of my last oil change when the plug fell out. A red oil light flickered on and then a battery subsequently came on. Within approximately three minutes of the light first flickering on, the car was dead on the side of the highway. The car would not turn over once it was stopped on the...

Engine (1.6-liter turbocharged direct-injection four-cylinder) had a catastrophic failure driving along highway. Engine instantly lost power and stalled. No indicators on instrument cluster prior to engine stall, temperature gauge for coolant indicating nominal conditions. Upon pulling over to the side of the road, check engine & batter indicator lights shown on the instrument cluster. Hyundai's roadside assistance system, Bluelink, did not activate with the engine's stall. It was observed that a mix of antifreeze and oils were dripping behind the engine onto the ground. Dealer later discovered that a piston connection rod had punched through the wall of the engine block. Dealer has submitted issue to Hyundai Corporate. Vehicle is aggressively service with manufacture dealerships according to recommended service intervals with synthetic fluids.

Vehicle stalls when accelerating at low speeds. It appears to be a delay when the car transitions from 1st to 2nd gear. This creates a safety concern, especially when taking turns into traffic due to delays/stalls when turning.

I went to get an oil change on Sept 3, 2022. After that oil change my car went back to normal but started to slow down in speed. On my way home my vehicle stalled. The more I drove the slower it got and loud grind it would make. My vehicle stalling could've caused an accident. My vehicle had a recall done March 21, 2021, which after Sept 7, 2022, I received a letter for a recall for a sensor for my vehicle that was issue per Hyundai website March 31, 2021. Hyundai has been able to confirm the issue. Only thing warning sign I received was my vehicle cut off the day I got the oil change Sept 3, 2022. We thought it may have been my battery.

I’ve been having an issue with the car “jerking rapidly” when in traffic and rolling slowly and when climbing relatively small hills, it began about 2 months ago but have become progressively worse over the last month. I was told by someone with a similar vehicle that it is the “lower arm control. Need help with is or if there is a recall

The oil fuel tank has been burning oil too fast in the GDI Engine & the oil has burnt through my alternator and spark plugs that I recently fixed only three weeks ago. This caused the engine to lock up completely while I was driving several times & I lost control while driving - having to restart the car multiple times to move it to a safe area. Now, the engine has locked permanently and I am unable to start the car at all despite replacing several parts and getting an oil change every 3-5000 miles (which continues to leak too quickly and harm other parts in the car).

Knock sensor recall was done in May 2022. Brought vehicle into service for Ac problem and oil change, which was completed. Was on highway going home 65 mph speed limit hit a hill, my engine light started flashing, my transmission downshifted and I lost all accelaration while on hill, speed wouldn’t go any higher then 50 at that point. Got to closest gas station and had car towed back to dealership, I just want to point out that the knock sensor is going to put people in danger in certain situations like myself, I am not to happy.
