2016 HONDA CIVIC Engine And Engine Cooling Problems

The contact owns a 2016 Honda Civic. The contact stated that while the vehicle was running with the A/C unit activated, there was an abnormal odor inside the cabin of the vehicle. Additionally, while the A/C unit was activated, only hot air was coming from the vents. The vehicle was taken to a dealer, where it was diagnosed and determined that the A/C evaporator needed to be replaced because of leaks in three places. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and a complaint was filed. The failure mileage was approximately 106,000.

The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The fire department extinguished the fire. The vehicle was towed to a tow lot. There were no reported injuries. A police report was filed. The air bags did not deploy. The manufacturer was contacted, but no assistance was provided. The failure mileage was approximately 63,000. AIR CONDITIONER ON DRIVER'S SIDE NOT COOLING/BLOWING WARM AIR. HONDA DEALER PERFORMED DIAGNOSIS AND FOUND SYSTEM SLIGHTLY LOW, AND FOUND AC COMPRESSOR IS LEAKING. COST TO REPAIR IS $1900.00. OUR 2016 HONDA CIVIC HAD 33K MILES AND IS GARAGE KEPT AND WELL MAINTAINED. I SEARCHED THE INTERNET AND FOUND THE COMPRESSOR LEAKING IS A COMMON PROBLEM! THIS SHOULD NOT BE HAPPENING ON A CAR WITH 33K MILES ON IT!!! I HAVE BEEN A HONDA OWNER FOR OVER 20 YEARS AND EXPECT HONDA TO ISSUE A RECALL OR EXTEND THE WARRANTY ON THE COMPRESSOR/COOLING SYSTEM FOR THIS KNOWN DEFECT. THIS SYSTEM HAS NOT LIVED UP TO THE REASONABLE EXPECTATION OF RELIABILITY OF HONDA CARS, AND THAT AN AC COMPRESSOR SHOULD LAST MORE THAN JUST A FEW YEARS WITH LOW MILEAGE.
