After stopping the vehicle to run an errand, the vehicle locked up. The steering wheel would not turn. The vehicle would not shift into any gear. The vehicle was inoperable and I found myself stranded 25 miles from home. The vehicle was towed to our local Ford dealership where it has been for the past two weeks. This failure could just as occurred on the road causing a dangerous situation.
Description of Incident: On August 3, 2025, while driving my 2023 Ford Mustang Mach-E, smoke began rising from the front of the vehicle. Within moments, flames erupted. I pulled over and evacuated. The fire quickly engulfed the cabin, resulting in a total loss. Component/System Involved: UNKNOWN. Based on the location and nature of the fire, a failure in the high-voltage battery system or related electrical components is suspected. Documentation and photos are available upon request. Safety Risk: This posed a serious threat to my safety and others on the road. Had it occurred in traffic or at higher speeds, the outcome could have been far worse. Reproduction/Confirmation: The issue has not been reproduced. The fire was investigated by my insurance company and the local fire department. Ford was notified and took possession of the vehicle on August 5. Inspection History: Ford left the vehicle uncovered outdoors for over two months....
Rear hatch on my 2023 Ford Mustang Mach-E (VIN: [XXX] , mileage: 31,751 km) opens spontaneously without user input. Occurs while parked and locked, sometimes when approaching with Phone As A Key (PAAK). Incident Details: One incident caused property damage when the hatch opened in a garage. No buttons were pressed, and foot-activated liftgate was not used. Issue is intermittent and unpredictable. Safety Concerns: Risk of property damage Potential injury if someone is near the hatch Risk of theft if hatch opens unattended Ford dealer unable to replicate or resolve. Other owners report similar issues. Request NHTSA investigation for possible recall or fix. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
Car constantly shuts down at electric vehicle charging stations and has even loss power will driving on highway and bought up powertrain fault
I’ve had this situation happen at least 2 to 3 times but specifically I’ll talk about the most recent. I was reversing out of my parking spot approximately 20 feet or so to where I can turn around and circle around the parking lot and exit. When I switched over to drive the vehicle accelerated rapidly unprompted. I was able to stop it by using the break, but I can also see how this could be a significant safety issue.
My car displayed a warning that the pre-collision assist was not available. This caused all of the safety features not to work (collision warning; lane departure warning; parking collision warning etc.) The car has been in and out of the dealership since Aug. 6th to repair this but Ford has not corrected the problem. We have not been told what is wrong with the car or any estimation on if or when it will be repaired. I requested the service documents for all of the records of when my car has been in the shop for this issue. I received the document but it has incorrect and missing information which causes me to be concerned that the issue is not being address but instead my car is being held with no efforts of a remedy. My car has not operated correctly for almost 2 months but the only service recorded...
Upon vehicle startup, the speedometer does not show on the instrument cluster (completely digital readout, analog readout not possible). In its place is the EV's remaining battery % with absolutely no way to access the speedometer and know the speed of the vehicle. This places the driver, other drivers, pedestrians, anyone else on the road at risk of excessive vehicle speed. There is no warning, error messages, or other symptoms prior to the issue happening. The only way rectify the issue is to fully restart the vehicle. However, this is not always a guaranteed fix, and the problem may persist between starts up. The issue does not occur during every start up event and is intermittent with a sudden onset (had the vehicle for 1.5 years at this point). The issue has occurred 3x in the last 2 weeks now. This issue appears to happen to other drivers of the...
I have taken my car to the dealership is three different occasions and reported problems with the screens (they go black, even when driving), rear-view image missing, proximity sensor malfunctioning (beeps even when there are no objects or cars around) and the driving assistance system (constantly disengages and reports it, without intervention). Additionally, I've read that the recalls talks about a possible lock-out issue that could put my children well-being at risk and I'm aware of issues with the doors of the vehicle. Despite the multiple reports and trips to the repair department these problems are still present and this last time my car has been retained at the dealership for over a week without any update or ETA for fixing the problem and I'm being told my only option would be get a new car and start my financing all over

Ford Motor Company Dear Ford Customer Service Team, I am writing as a highly disappointed owner of a Ford (specify model, e.g., Mustang Mach‑E), having observed a dramatic unexplained jump of over 10,000 miles on my vehicle’s odometer in just three months. I firmly reject the insinuation that I drove that distance—I maintain an accurate charging and usage log proving otherwise—and I demand a refund of my warranty payment plus a prompt and transparent investigation. Key Facts & Concerns 1. Sudden mileage spike (~10,000 miles in 3 months) • I did not charge or drive anywhere near that distance. My charging logs and event logs—comprehensively detailed—show a maximum of [X] miles total for that period. • The odometer reading is simply inconsistent with verifiable usage data. 2. Likelihood of system error or tampering • Similar issues have been documented in EVs: • Tesla vehicles are currently under multiple lawsuits alleging...
At [XXX] on Tuesday [XXX] while driving our 2023 Ford Mustang Mach E GT eastbound in the left lane on [XXX] near the [XXX] intersection the car suddenly stopped. There was a second or two of multiple warning notices then the car instrument panel went blank. The car “bricked” as is known in Electric Vehicle jargon. There was no power to anything, and the stop was sudden and steering was extremely difficult. Washington State Patrol and Washington Department of Transportation responded to provide safety assistance while eastbound traffic on [XXX] backed up for several miles. The car is now at Frontier Ford in Anacortes Washington and they have confirmed its status as completely dead. In fact it took almost an hour to get the car off the tow truck. The dealership tried several battery jumper options to the 12v battery but when they worked it seemed to only work for...
I HAVE FORD MACH E 2023 E SELECT MODEL, I HAVE TAKEN MANY TIMES TO DEALERSHIP, THEY ARE MAKING EXCUSES AND SAYING ITS SOFTWARE ISSUE BUT ITS NOT ADN THEY ARE UNABLE TO FIX THAT, IT HAS SCREEN PROBLEM THE SCREEN FREEZES FULL WAY,HALF WAY SOMETIME ALL BLACK OUT, CONNECTS DISCONNECTS ITSELF, ITS ANNOYING AND ITS SAFETY ISSUE YOU GET DISTRACTED BY IT, IF YOU HAVE NAVIGATION ON OR ON THE PHONE ALL OF SUDDEN CONNECTS DISCONNECTS FREEZES THEN YOU HAVE TO TAKE OUT YOUR CELLPHONE AND KEEP TOUCHING AND PANICKING AND THEY ARE NOT DOING ANYTHING ITS DANGERIOUS FOR THE DRIVING AND FOR THE PUBLIC LETS SAY IF YOU WANNA GO SOMEWHERE AND NAVIGATION IS ON ADN ALL OF SUDDEN PROBLEM OCCURS MANUFACTURE IS NOT DOING ANYTHING ABOUT IT ALSO SAME PROBLEM OCCURS IN MY 2024 FORD EXPEDITION AND THEY NOT FIXING IT, AND AS PER LAW YOU ARE...
Upon leaving to go to work, the vehicle's speedometer was not displayed.
Vehicle locked down and doors would not open or respond. Vehicle was completely prevented from getting into and a tow was required to try to open through 12v battery jump. Took two tow trucks and vehicle has no door handles so there is no way in. Ford told me it was a failure of software update and then they told me their engineers were aware of these failures and were working on it. Vehicle had to be reset and towed.
It’s already happened twice where the dash/odometer screen is off and cannot see the speed or anything displayed
We were driving my Ford Mach E when the vehicle disengaged the accelerator pedal and accelerated forward in which we had no control of. Pressing the break would cause the vehicle to accelerate faster almost causing multiple accidents at a high rate of speed. Multiple sensor malfunction even after being “ fixed “
The wireless charging pad for cell phones causes the phones to overheat and stop functioning properly. My fear is that an overheated phone could result in a fire. My understanding is that this issue exists not just for the charging pad on the Mach-E but other Ford models as well and across phone manufacturers.
Complete loss of power while driving on a congested road. Started as a couple error warnings for different systems like the front camera and then all of a sudden told me to pull over immediately. Luckily we had just turned off the highway, but barely got to the side of the road before we lost power. For a little while the accessories worked, but we eventually lost ALL power to include our hazards. Since we were sitting in a very dangerous areas as people off ramped the highway, this put us directly in danger. Ford handled roadside assistance well, but the dealer treated us like a nuisance and despite the car being towed there and they being fore warned, they still acted like we were an annoyance. Despite promising loaner on the phone, when we arrived they decided they had none. We had to threaten turning in the car under...
I am locked out of the car despite having keys and phone in hand. When I was in the car it wouldn’t start. Screen was black. I got out of the car to try other doors. When I got back to driver door, the car was locked and I tried all normal modes to get in the car. It is NOT the 12 volt battery. I tried to use the manual jump to get the hood to pop open but it didn’t work. If I had a baby in the car and it was hot out, this could be a life-threatening disaster.
Vehicle failed to operate. Did not “turn on” and main battery power would not connect to transmission/motors leaving driver and passengers stranded.
The dash screen is blank and dead since 2 days. Also i am getting the airbag disabled notification. There is no way to see the odometer and speedometer. Also the dash screens keeps rebooting while driving.
Phone as a key non operative walk away lock chirp folding windows navigation on 24hr clock but set for 12. Dealership says no issues but obviously many exist
While driving the vehicle came to an abrupt stop in the middle of traffic. The vehicle had to be changed to a tow mode as it was stuck in park. The vehicle had not been driven more than 3days at this point. The vehicle was towed to a nearby dealer who found no issue and gave the vehicle back with errors still in the dash. The vehicle was then brought to a second dealer who found no issues after 5days of inspection. They advised all codes see cleared by the previous dealer. Vehicle then stopped again in the middle of traffic with no warning and was towed again. This was he 3rd attempt at accessing the issue on a 2week old purchase of which I had driven at most 1week. The vehicle abruptly stops while driving, displays a battery icon, a car icon with and exclamation, and a turtle icon....
Blue Cruise initially was lost. Dealer reprogrammed car based on a TSB. Now receive intermittent fault for one pedal driving . Will resolve only if car is turned off and restarted. Concern that while driving such a change could cause an accident.
The charging system would not work after purchase. Without careful planning I could have been stuck hours from home, stranded. I tried about 8 different chargers and called support with no luck. We ended up having to tow it to the dealership. We've now waited 3 weeks to be told 2 electrical wiring harnesses are corroded ( brand new car ) and they are not able to order the parts they need.
All I was doing was charging the battery of the car at my house on a level two charger that was provided by Ford. I got a message on my Ford pass saying High voltage Battery warning. The car stopped charging at 59 percent of the battery capacity. The vehicle has only 2800 miles on it. Also got a power train malfunction/ reduced power warning as well and a service wrench when you turn on the car. This high voltage battery warning is a known issue on 2022 as I had it happen to me while driving it in a turn as I own one of those as well. But this is the 2023 that is not recalled. I have parked it outside of my garage as if the battery is getting hot enough to where it will stop charging this puts these vehicles all at the risk of something...
The vehicle sends an alert “STOP SAFELY NOW” and starts jerking and shutting down. I have reported to Ford and me local dealership. No one seems to have an explanation as to why this is happening. It doesn’t register in the vehicle logs as an alert. I’m afraid one day I won’t have the ability to pull over. Mt vehicle is a 2023 AWD SELECT MACH E.
On [XXX], I acquired the vehicle with an initial estimate of 6 miles on it. However, within just 1.5 days of ownership, I encountered a significant issue that has left my family and me in a state of distress. On [XXX], while heading into DC for a holiday event at Nationals Stadium with my husband and three small children, the car suddenly displayed a warning message urging me to "Stop Safely Now” with a turtle on it. Subsequently, the vehicle became unresponsive, leaving us stranded on a bridge with no shoulder. With limited knowledge of the car's functions, we attempted to troubleshoot, but to no avail. This is our first time ever going into DC. Given the urgency of the situation and the safety of my family, we called for a tow truck, which took an extended 1.5-2 hours to locate us due to the challenging location on the bridge....
The contact owns a 2023 Ford Mustang Mach-E. The contact stated while driving approximately 35 MPH, a MIL warning illuminated, with the message “Immediate Loss of Power” displayed. The contact stated that the vehicle shut off and the battery was drained. The contact stated that the vehicle stopped and independently shifted to park(P). The contact stated that the hazard lights were not able to be activated. The contact towed the vehicle to a local dealer, where it was diagnosed and determined that the high voltage battery contact had failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact researched online and related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V687000 (Electrical System). The manufacturer was informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 2,000.
I have attached a letter to this email that ford recently sent me for my 2023 and 2022 mustang mach e. The one attached here is for the 2023 one. Supposedly software is supposed to fix a burning or melting of the charge port pins. I am not sure one of my cars looks like it may be arched but this letter from ford is ridiculous. I request a recall to inspect all charge port pins in all 2023 and 2022 mustang mach e's. I also request since ford is known for trying to use software to update electrical parts that may arc (I.E the battery control module) that a separate investigation be opened to this matter. There is currently no recall for this and I have a concern for both my vehicles now if arching can take place. Furthermore I have had two charging cables burn up on my...
My vehicle lost power when I was accelerating onto a highway. The car would not go over 35 mph all the way home. There was no warning light until after I attempted to accelerate and was not able to. Ford is saying it’s only 2022 models, but I have a 2023.
While charging at a DC Fast Charging station, my vehicle reported "High Voltage" Battery problem. So I disconnected from the charger and started driving home. While driving I got “Stop Safely Now” message on the dashboard. I could hardly pull over to the shoulder. The car immediately went dead as soon as I stopped. I was lucky to be on a road with no traffic else this could have been a disaster.
The contact owns a 2023 Ford Mustang Mach-E. The contact stated that the vehicle failed to start. The contact stated that after five minutes of attempting to start the vehicle, the vehicle started. The contact then stated that a message displayed on the instrument panel “High Voltage Battery warning and to Contact Roadside Assistance” and “Powertrain Malfunction - Reduced Power”. The contact stated that the vehicle decelerated and failed to accelerate while the accelerator pedal was depressed. Limited Power was displayed on the instrument panel. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where the cause of the failure could not be determined. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 1,317.
The car came to an abrupt stop and wouldn’t start up again. This happened three times. First time, I was at a charging station. Second time it happened in middle of the road while driving. It Put the safety of my family and me at danger. I had to call 911 to help manage busy traffic around me and towing service to take the car to dealership/service. The ford service center told me car was fixed - they had the car for 10 days before returning it to me. Two weeks and ~200 miles later the same thing happened yet again. My wife and child were stranded in middle of traffic. I am just thankful they were able to avoid collisions with other vehicles. The car has been back in the ship for another 24days and counting. Online forums indicate that my issue is not isolated. Ford has yet to...
Vehicle suddenly lost power with a warning on the dashboard (service vehicle soon). The component ended up being a high voltage battery junction box (HVBJB) which was replaced by the dealer under warranty. This is a known issue reported on widely on forums such as macheforum.com
The HVBJB subassembly in ALL Ford Mach-e vehicles has known defects with 'under-designed' main contactors that are known to fail under normal charging and driving conditions as outlined in current open Ford recall notice for my vehicle 22s41. Unfortunately, the internal damage to contactors is not visible externally, and warning notices on display only after damage has occurred, and can result in sudden loss of propulsion power at highway speed, loss of power steering, and power brakes... and failure of other 12v systems due to failure to charge the 12v battery properly after contactors are damaged. Less catastrophic results can include failure to start; which can 'strand' driver's and passengers in remote areas, bad weather conditions, as well as cause loss of use for weeks due to delays in replacement parts and local Dealerships needing equipment and training to effect removal/replacement of faulty unit with a new HVBJB having re-designed...
2 days after ownership the vehicle shutdown and went into limp mode with a picture of a turtle and battery icon in middle of road with traffic, apple valley ford replaced the 12v battery and that solved the issue, today 3 days later same issue! Stuck in the road, ev battery charged to 90%
I took car a month ago and it stops between the road..saying STOP SAFELY NOW and than i am unable to move my car, it happened thrice, last time it stopped on the road and cop had to call roadside assistance so i contacted my dealer on 10 Aug about this issue, they diagnose the problem and re run test some test and recycled the system, now again today on 14 August, it got stopped in middle of traffic and the crash was about to happen, i was lucky that my life got saved or else it would be a major accident, so i went again to my dealer and explained everything now they are again gonna re run those test, but it's becoming a life threatening issue for me to drive this car, so please i need help for it. Dealer address - 6100 W 95th St, Oak lawn,...

When the car was started, the center console screen froze. During that time, the backup camera did not display when the car is in reverse. It has happened several times. It's a safety issue when the backup camera does not work.
After disengaging adaptive cruise control, the car electrical system shutdown and the vehicle began losing speed until it came to a complete stop after which the gear shifter became lock and would not unlock until a jump was provided to the 12v battery.
