2017 FORD FUSION HYBRID Engine Problems

The contact owns a 2017 Ford Fusion Hybrid. The contact stated that while driving 40 MPH, the vehicle shut off unexpectedly. The message that the engine was overheating was displayed. The check engine warning light was illuminated. The RED Triangle Symbol (Master Warning Light) was illuminated. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic, who determined that the transmission was leaking and that the hybrid system, battery, and engine needed to be replaced. The local dealer was contacted, but the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was contacted, and the contact was informed there were no open recalls on the VIN related to the failure. The contact was then referred to the NHTSA Hotline to report the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 180,000.

CVT Transmission Vehicle purchased 4/15/19 with 38,000 miles Transmission was bad and was replaced under warranty by Ford on 8/13/2021 @ 77,099 miles. Noise is back and I took vehicle to dealer for diagnosis 10/10/2023. Diagnosis: Hybrid Electric Unit Motor went out/Transmission is bad and needs to be replaced @ 115,023 miles I have only driven the car $67,076 on this new transmission. This does not seem right. Dealership says I am out of "dealer warranty" and that I must pay out of pocket $7k

My FordPass app told me that the vehicle detected a misfire. So we took it to the auto shop to get an official diagnosis, and was informed that coolant is leaking and causing a misfire. They said it is a known issue in ford vehicles, yet there are no recalls or fixes for it. If the auto shop is unable to resolve the issue by replacing a seal, we will then have to have the engine replaced. If this is a common issue, then ford needs to open a recall and fix it. It is my main vehicle that I use and I have my 6 and 8 year old with me 99% of the time and would feel much safer knowing the issue is resolved

When I turn right my vehicle made this ugly noise kind of like metal grinding and then it started kind of jerking my gear started switching and buying themselves it turned into neutral and then a warning sign came on and said transmission not in part stop vehicle safely now as I kept driving I stopped the vehicle turn it back on road home and kind of let the car just roll home I turned right again and the vehicle did the same thing but it was even worse it was making this ugly noise it started leaking transmission oil my battery ended up dying the gears it were just kind of like moving by themselves there's just weird like I don't know if it was recharging or what it was doing but my car was just going all kinds of haywire it's at the Ford dealership now at southway...

DRIVING 70MPH ON HIGHWAY WHEN CAR SHUT DOWN. NO POWER AND NO BRAKES. WAS ABLE TO GET ONTO SHOULDER AND CAR AUTOMATICALLY WENT FROM D INTO P ON ITS OWN ONCE IT CAME TO COMPLETE STOP. CAR RESTARTED AND WAS ABLE TO FINISH TRIP WITH NO OTHER PROBLEMS. VERY SCARY AND DANGEROUS.

WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE THREE BLOCK FROM MY HOUSE THE ENGINE SHUT DOWN AND WOULD NOT RE-START. I PUSHED IT INTO A PARKING LOT AND ATTEMPTED TO JUMP START IT WITH NO LUCK. I HAD IT TOWED TO AIRPORT MARINA FORD 5880 W. CENTINELA AVE, LOS ANGELES, CA. 90045. MY VEHICLE HAS BEEN AT FORD SERVICE FOR THREE DAYS AND THEY HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO FIGURE OUT THE ISSUE. THE SERVICE ADVISOR SAID THEY PROBLEM MAY BE CAUSED BY THE HIGH VOLTAGE REGULATOR OR THE TRANSMISSION. MY VEHICLE ONLY HAS APPROXIMATELY 52,000 MILES.

ENGINE STALLED WHILE DRIVING..STEERING LOCKED. COULD NOT RESTART THE CAR.NARROWLY AVOIDED AN ACCIDENT.
