DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY I HIT A SMALL BUMP AT 65MPH AND THE ENTIRE FRONT END STARTED VIOLENTLY SHAKING LIKE IT WAS GOING TO FALL APART. HAS HAPPENED TO ME 3 TIMES NOW AND TO MY PREGNANT WIFE 3 TIMES IN ONE TRIP! VERY SCARY AND A SERIOUS ISSUE THAT SHOULD BE RECTIFIED IMMEDIATELY. EXTREMELY DANGEROUS SITUATION AT 60MPH+ OR ANY SPEED REALLY.
I WAS DRIVING ON A TWO LANE BACK ROAD AROUND 45 TO 50 MPH, AND MY TRUCK STARTED VIOLENTLY SHAKING AND I LOST ALL CONTROL OF STEERING. I WENT INTO THE ONCOMING LANE, LUCKILY NO ONE WAS COMING, AND HAD TO HIT MY BRAKES HARD TO GET THE SHAKING TO STOP. IT HAS ALSO HAPPENED WHILE DRIVING AT SPEEDS OF 35-40 ON A CITY STREET AND 60 MPH ON A HIGHWAY. THIS IS KNOWN AS DEATH WOBBLE. THE WOBBLE WAS SO BAD THAT IT LOOSENED THE TRACK BAR AND THE BOLT HOLDING THE POWER STEERING HARD LINE. I LOST ALL POWER STEERING FLUID WITHIN SECONDS. I HAVE RESEARCHED IT, TRIED REPLACING SEVERAL PARTS, LIKE TIE-RODS, AND IT HAS LESSENED A LITTLE BIT, BUT IF I HIT A BUMPY ROAD OR EVEN JUST A PATCH OF NEW PAVEMENT, IT STARTS SHAKING. I HAVE A 2005, CREW CAB, SHORT BED, 6.0 DIESEL F-350. WHEN DRIVING AT 55-75MPH ON THE HIGHWAY, I PASSED A SMALL BUMP TRIGGERING A RIGOROUS SHAKING OF THE FRONT END. I COULD NOT APPLY BRAKES RAPIDLY, AND THE STEERING WHEEL BEGAN TO SHAKE. I BARELY HAD CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE, BUT AFTER FINALLY SLOWING DOWN TO A STOP THE SHAKING STOPPED. IT WAS VERY DANGEROUS, AND HAS HAPPENED 6 TIMES SINCE AT 55-75MPH. *TR
DRIVING ST HIGHWAY SPEED (50-55MPH) I RAN OVER THREE SMALL BUMPS IN SUCCESSION, THE STEERING WHEEL WENT INTO A VIOLENT SIDE TO SIDE SHAKING AND I EXPERIENCED A SEVERE AND VIOLENT SHAKING OF THE ENTIRE FRONT END OF THE TRUCK. THE CONTACT RELEASED THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL AND THE SHAKING BECAME MORE EXTREME. AFTER DEPRESSING THE BRAKES, THE VEHICLE WAS MOVED OFF THE ROADWAY AND THE CONTACT INSPECTED THE VEHICLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED BUT OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 20,000. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 62,000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.

ON JULY 2, 2011, I WAS DRIVING MY 2005 F350 4X4 FORD TRUCK AT APPROXIMATELY 60 MPH ON A DOWNHILL GRADE AND HIT A POTHOLE IN THE ROAD. THE TRUCK STARTED SHAKING SO VIOLENTLY THAT I LOST CONTROL AND DRIFTED INTO THE ONCOMING TRAFFIC LANE FOR SEVERAL SECONDS WITHOUT BEING ABLE TO CONTROL THE VEHICLE. I OWN A 2005 FORD F350, THIS TRUCK STARTS TO SHIMMY AND SHAKE WHEN YOU GO OVER A SMALL BUMP IN THE ROAD, IT IS SEVERE ENOUGH TO CAUSE YOU TO LOOSE CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE. LESS THAN 48 HOURS LATER, SAME ISSUE AGAIN. HAS HAPPENED ABOUT A DOZEN TIMES IN THE MONTH THAT I'VE OWNED THE 2005 FORD F-350 SUPER DUTY DIESEL CREW CAB LONG BOX. *TR

THIS WAS ABOUT APRIL 25 2009. ON MAY 14 2009 I WENT TO FORD FOR MY OIL CHANGE. THEY DISCOVERED THE FRONT PASSENGERS UNIVERSAL JOINT IS BROKEN. I WAS NOT IN FOUR WHEEL DRIVE WHEN THIS LOUD POP OCCURRED. BUT I DID ALMOST LOSE CONTROL PRIOR TO HEARING IT POP, MY SPEED AT THE TIME OF POP WAS ABOUT 35MPH. AFTER REPLACING THE TIRES, A FRONT STABILIZER WAS INSTALLED ON THE FRONT END OF THE VEHICLE; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE PERSISTED. THE VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN REPAIRED SINCE THE LAST INCIDENT. FRONT END SHIMMY ON FORD F350 4X4 CREW CAB DULLY, PRODUCTION YEAR 2005. AT ABOUT 40 MPH WHEN THE VEHICLE HITS A BUMP THE FRONT END STARTS TO SHAKE. THE FEED BACK THROUGH THE STEERING WHEEL TRIES TO SHAKE THE STEERING WHEEL OUT OF THE DRIVERS HANDS. THIS VEHICLE HAS HAD THE FRONT STABILIZER SHOCK CHANGED, THE LEFT SIDE DRAG LINK CHANGED AND THE FRONT END RE-ALIGNED. THIS PROBLEM HAS BEEN CONTINUING SINCE THE VEHICLE AS HAD APPROX 40,000 MILES. CURRENTLY THE VEHICLE HAS 90K. I HAVE BEEN TOLD THAT THE SHIMMY IS CAUSED BY THE TIRE PRESSURE, TIRES WORN, FRONT END WEAR, ECT. *TR
I PURCHASED A NEW 2005 F-350 . SINCE DAY ONE IT HAS HAD A VIOLENT FRONT END SHAKE. IT DOESN'T MATTER IF YOU HIT A BUMP OR NOT. I WILL NOT DRIVE IT ANY MORE. I HAVE TAKEN IT TO THE DEALERSHIP 15 TIMES AND THE HAVE REPLACED THE STEERING BOX, FRONT COIL SPRINGS, DAMPER, SHOCKS AND ADJUSTED THE TIRE PRESSURE. NOTHING SEEMS TO FIX THE PROBLEM. THEN I TOOK IT TO AN OFF ROAD SPECIALTY STORE AND SPENT $6200.00 ON A 4INCH SUSPENSION LIFT, NEW 35" TIRES ,DUAL STABILIZING BARS AND NEW COIL SPRINGS. THE TRUCK STILL SHAKES , BOUNCES , SHIMMIES AND HOPS. I AM FORCED TO BUY ANOTHER VEHICLE (NEVER FORD AGAIN). I AM VERY CONCERNED FOR THE SAFETY OF EVERYONE ON THE ROAD IF FORD DOES NOT FIX THE PROBLEM IMMEDIATELY. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 FORD F 350 SUPER DUTY. WHILE DRIVING 65 MPH THE VEHICLE AND STEERING WHEEL WOULD SHAKE VIOLENTLY WHEN GOING OVER A BUMP. THE CONTACT WAS CONCERNED ABOUT LOSING CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE. THE DEALER STATED THAT THERE WAS A DESIGN FLAW WITH THE VEHICLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNAVAILABLE AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 17,600.
TL* - WHEN CONTACTWAS DRIVING AND GOING OVER A SERIES OF SMALL BUMPS LOST CONTROL OF THE STEERING WHEEL WHICH WENT FROM RIGHT TO LEFT QUICKLY TO THE POINT OF BEING ALMOST UNCONTROLLABLE. IN ORDER FOR CONTACT TO GET CONTROL OF THE STEERING WHEEL SHE HAD TO SLOW THE VEHICLE DOWN TO A SPEED OF 5 MPH OR COME TO A COMPLETE STOP. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP ,AND THEY STATED THAT THEY NOTICED THE SAME INCIDENT AS WELL ON A TEST DRIVE OF THE VEHICLE, BUT THEY COULD NOT DO ANYTHING ABOUT THE INCIDENT BECAUSE THE MANUFACTURER HASN'T GIVING THE DEALERSHIP ANY ADVISE ON HOW TO FIX THE FAILURE.*AK
2005 FORD F350 CREWCAB VIBRATION WHILE PULLING A LOAD, TURBO UNIT HAS BEEN REPLACED TWICE, DASH CLUSTER ONCE, EXHAUST LEAK. *KB ***NAR*** THE TEMPERATURE GAUGE WAS ACTING ERRATIC. THERE WAS A STEERING NOISE WHEN MAKING TURNS. THE CONSUMER WAS TOLD THE VIBRATION THAT HE WAS EXPERIENCING WAS BEING INVESTIGATED. *JB
